Chapter 7: Internal struggles
Lucy sat nervously on her bed, unable to shake the feeling of uncertainty that had been nagging at her since she'd last seen Kurumu. The succubus had been acting strangely over the past few days, and Lucy couldn't help but wonder if it had anything to do with her.
Was Kurumu put off by her bubbly personality? Or did she prefer the cold, calculated side of her that had come out during their last encounter?
Lucy couldn't tell, and it was driving her insane.
She knew she had to talk to Kurumu, to set the record straight and find out once and for all what the succubus really thought of her.
But before she could do that, she needed to make sure she wasn't the only one having problems.
With a deep breath, Lucy pulled out her phone and dialed her sister's number.
"Hey, Moka," she said, the nervousness evident in her voice. "I was just wondering… do you have trouble taking off your rosary too?"
There was a moment of silence on the other end, and Lucy could practically hear the confusion in her sister's voice. "What are you talking about?" Moka asked.
Lucy hesitated, unsure if she should reveal her true intentions. But in the end, she knew she had to be honest with her sister. "I'm having trouble controlling my inner self," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. "And I was just wondering if you were having the same problem."
Another pause, and then Moka spoke again, this time more hesitantly. "I… sometimes have trouble taking off my rosary," she admitted. "But I don't think it's the same thing as what you're going through."
Lucy sighed, feeling a mixture of disappointment and relief. She had wanted to know if she wasn't alone, but it seemed like her sister couldn't offer her much help after all.
But then again, maybe she could. Maybe just talking to Moka had helped her clear her mind a little, to realize that she wasn't the only one dealing with internal struggles.
With a newfound sense of determination, Lucy hung up the phone and got dressed, ready to face Kurumu and finally get some answers.
She didn't know what Kurumu's response would be, but one thing was for sure: she wasn't giving up without a fight.
