I'd meant to get this kiss scene out a lot sooner. But my summer has been a lot busier than previous summers, between grad school classwork and an avalanche of home maintenance projects. Honestly, I just had to kick myself into gear and start this scene, and thankfully, the rest just flowed out.
I'd originally planned to write a Link/Agitha kiss scene today. But then I read the LoZ wiki and found out Agitha's supposed to be around 10 years old! I'd thought she was closer to 14! Then again, Zelda character's ages are impossible to pin down anyway! But, at any rate, I've decided there won't be any Link/Agitha scenes in this series. Agitha will have some kiss scenes, just not with Link.
I didn't expect this kiss scene to get so intense, either! I was tempted to bump the rating up to M, but I realized that plenty of T-rated fics take things even further than this (not to the point of being explicit, but still more intense than this). Please let me know in the comment section if I've rated this scene right, or if it indeed needs to be bumped up.
Speaking of the comment section, if you enjoy this kiss scene, or have advice for me on writing kiss scenes in general, PLEASE leave a review! They are very important for my growth as a writer!
I hope y'all like this!
The last call for drinks had long since come and gone tonight at the dimly-lit bar in Castle Town. And with it had gone all the patrons. The two or three cooks and waiters had left hours before even that. On a normal night, this would be the time Telma would do a final cleanup in the taproom before retiring to her apartment on the floor above.
But tonight was not a normal night. She hadn't had a normal night since the start of the Twilight invasion. Tonight, as every night lately, five people had stayed behind while the patrons left. They were her friends and fellow conspirators. The Resistance, they'd called themselves; they'd dedicated themselves in these last few months to undermining the new Twilight regime in Hyrule. And right now, they were discussing their marching orders for the next week, under her supervision (as she, in fact, was one of them).
Tonight's plans weren't very exciting. Four of her five compatriots would be recruiting in their main areas of operation. It was pretty boring compared to what most of them had hoped for. This, combined with the lateness of the hour, was causing most of them to show visible fatigue. Auru was rubbing his back every few seconds, clearly sore. Rusl and Shad looked nearly passed-out at the table, clearly ready to go to bed. Even Ashei was looking like she wanted this meeting to be over ages ago. The only person who still appeared to have any energy left was Link, the lovely young Ordonian lad who'd most recently joined the Resistance.
Telma had only known him for a couple weeks, but she already found herself quite liking him. He was an insanely hard worker, a trained fighter, and had a pleasant disposition that she found disarming. Added to his flaxy-blond hair and gorgeous blue-grey eyes, shining with innocent determination, these qualities made for a potent mix that Telma couldn't help but be drawn to. Especially after hearing about her old sweetheart Renado's negative reaction to her advances.
Since learning about that last fact, she'd begun to consider the option of courting the young green-clad swordsman. She knew it was perhaps the ultimate long shot, between their difference in age and the fact that she didn't exactly have the sort of looks most men preferred. But she had built up too much confidence in her years of running this bar to be dissuaded by a challenge.
And, with everyone but Link looking ready to head immediately to sleep, tonight was probably the best opportunity she'd have to make her move.
…
This meeting had gone on quite a bit longer than Link thought necessary. Auru had spent most of it explaining in detail the inner workings of the circus cannon at Lake Hylia, something that Link had already experienced first-hand. It was clear that no one found it interesting enough to stay focused, and by the time he'd finished, any energy the group might have had to discuss their actual plans had long since left them.
At the very least, it looked like it was finally ending. It had been decided that Auru, Shad, Ashei, and Rusl would go out and recruit new members in the areas they'd previously been working in. Link, meanwhile, was ready to make his second trip into the Gerudo Desert to train himself in the Great Fairy's cave. He would start in the morning, after getting a good night's sleep in one of the apartments Telma owned above this bar.
But first, there was something he wanted to do.
The others were getting up from the table they'd been seated around now, and Telma was making her way behind the bar to pick up a rag. Link got up and called over to her, "Hey, Telma, mind if I help out?"
Telma looked back at him, a grateful smile on her face. "Go ahead, honey," she replied affectionately, as she tended to do. "I'd wanted to talk to you anyway before you turned in for the night."
Link's eyes widened at that. As he grabbed a second rag, he wondered what the woman hoped to discuss.
He got his answer as soon as everyone else had gone up the back staircase. The two were wiping down separate tables when Telma asked him, "So, been noticing any girls lately?"
Link blinked several times rapidly. He hadn't been expecting that kind of question tonight, even if it fit Telma's teasing personality. "Uh…well…I guess?" he replied. "I haven't really been able to think too much about it recently."
Telma appeared to grimace at that. "It's hell, isn't it, trying to push out an invader like this?" she probed.
Link sighed. "Now that I think about it," he answered, "it kinda is."
They'd each moved on to different tables now. Telma paused for a few seconds before suggesting, "I think this fight would be more bearable if you had someone to spend time with when you need to rest."
Link looked up from the table he was wiping down. "Like a girlfriend, right?" he prompted, starting to see where the woman was going with this.
Telma nodded, finishing her table. "So," she inquired, "are there any girls that stand out to you? Or maybe more grown-up women?" She asked the latter question with a smirk and a teasing wink.
Link felt his cheeks heat up considerably at that. If he didn't know any better, he'd have guessed that Telma was…flirting with him. And that idea, unbidden as it was, inadvertently made Link look at Telma as he never had before. She was a head taller than him, and very plump, but in a way that very much suited her; the amount of skin her open waistcoat made visible drew even more attention to that. Her light auburn hair and tan complexion lent her a rather exotic look, and her green eyes, emphasized by the brightly-colored studs she wore around them, were quite hypnotic, now that Link actually took the time to notice them.
But she couldn't be flirting with him. That was just how she talked to people normally, right?
Ignoring the odd feelings her gaze was bringing up in him, he finished off his table and tried to answer. "Well…Ilia and I have always been close," he started, with a little less confidence than he ought to have had. "But I think she and that Zora boy she saved have feelings for each other…Ashei's pretty cool, I guess, but I don't think she's into that sort of thing. There's…there's these three girls who hang around the clawshot game tent…honestly, I don't know what's up with them…Other than them…I…can't really…think of anyone in particular…" he trailed off at this point. He and Telma were beside each other now, taking turns working the pump at her sink and rinsing off their rags. Telma had been smiling the whole time he'd made his answer; that same sly smile that had first brought the heat to Link's face was only making it more intense with each passing second.
Just as he turned to head towards the staircase, opening his mouth to wish her good-night, Telma spoke once more: "So, you're not spoken for, then? Perfect…Neither am I."
Link stopped dead in his tracks and turned slowly to face Telma again, his eyes wide and cheeks bright pink.
She was still smirking as she sauntered over to Link, in absolutely no hurry. Within seconds, the two ended up closer to each other than they'd ever been. Link was leaning slightly backwards over the bar, his hands on its edge to steady himself. Meanwhile, Telma was leaning forwards into him, her hands on his. She was pressing close against him, and Link found that she was incredibly soft, which only made his face heat up even more.
"I knew you were a catch when we first met," Telma continued. "Brave, helpful, not bad with that sword of yours…and a total sweetheart. If I hadn't been pining so hard for that old codger Renado, great man as he may be, I think I would've asked you out a lot sooner than this."
Now it was out in the open. She was openly asking him out. And Link's mind had completely shut down, struggling to process this. Slowly, one of Telma's hands moved up to gently caress Link's cheek. "It's a stressful war we're in, honey," she continued, "but maybe spending our downtime with each other might make it just a little more bearable, don't you think?"
Link couldn't give an answer. His brain still hadn't caught up yet, and he was actually panting to try and cool his face off.
Only now was there a break in Telma's mischievous smirk. "Never thought about this before?" she queried, one eyebrow rising slightly as he other arm wrapped tightly around Link's waist, pressing him even further into her. "Maybe this will help…"
Link's eyes went unbelievably wide as Telma's lips met his. With one of her arms around his waist, her other hand cupping his cheek, and himself pressed between her and the bar, there was no chance of pulling away. Telma's lips, like the rest of her, were very soft; her kisses were feather-gentle, but alluringly slow and deep. Link found himself kissing back as the building sensations brought up some deep-seated need he never realized he had. His knees grew weak as he found himself right at the brink of sensory overload.
And then Telma's tongue came sliding over his lips and deep into his mouth, and he was undone. Link's eyes fluttered closed and his arms wrapped tightly around Telma as his knees gave out, though the close contact between them meant he never fell. Running on pure instinct now, he clung desperately to her as her lips kept pressing into his, and her tongue continued its exploration of his mouth, eventually coiling around his own tongue and coaxing it up into a slow, addictive dance.
For several long minutes, the world contracted around them, and they were aware of nothing aside from each other. They could hear each other's panting breaths whenever a little room opened up between their lips. They could feel each other's hearts pounding through the intervening layers of clothing and mail. And, of course, neither could possibly ignore the sensations of each other's mouths and tongues as they locked together again, and again, and again…
Link was hooked. He now had only one answer to Telma's proposal.
Finally, Telma let up, reluctantly pulling her mouth away from Link's. But she maintained their tight, soft embrace. She was panting too, now; the sensations of those kisses had overwhelmed both of them.
For a long time - perhaps a full minute and a half - neither one said anything, each one looking into the other's eyes as both of their minds caught up to the present. Telma's caught up first, but she waited, allowing Link to take as long as he needed to formulate an answer.
It took him a while, but eventually, he did. "As long as…we don't go…any further…than this…" Link answered between panting breaths, "being your boyfriend…sounds really…nice."
Telma full-on grinned. "Don't worry, honey," she reassured, "we won't take this any further for a while." Then she pressed her mouth over Link's again. Her tongue slid in once more, though this time, she made sure to gently draw Link's tongue into her mouth as they continued yet another long, deep makeout session against the bar.
Forty-five minutes later, the two finally entered Telma's apartment. After quickly changing into nightclothes, they lay down on the bed, cuddled up together under the covers. There was no making out this time, just the two of them drifting off to sleep in each other's arms.
