Franka and Liskarm had never shared a room while working at Blacksteel Worldwide. That had never really bothered either of them. BSW could afford dorms and barracks for each of their staff, keeping them well fed, and comfortable between contracts that BSW needed to fulfill. And it gave the pairing ample space between them to keep to themselves, but still remain partners. But that had been once upon a time, before the two had become an item by any stretch of the imagination.
That had been once upon a time, before Rhodes Island, before Liskarm had let her stoic demeanor fall once too many times around Franka in the senior operator lounge, and friendly flirts turned into something more, and then suddenly Franka found Liskarm only had eyes for her, besides being completely adamant about the fact that she not only had eyes for her but even wanted Franka.
It wasn't uncommon for Franka to find herself musing about how the cards had fallen, how Liskarm had found herself completely ensnared by the attitude of the light-haired Vulpo. How she could feel Liskarm's eyes on her back during operations for Rhodes Island, not only boring holes into her because of her attitude and lightheartedness, even up to, and during some combat operations, but seemingly looking into her, and beyond that projected visage.
The act of Liskarm only having eyes for her, of Liskarm watching and keeping an eye on her had become something that had turned from an act of scorn for her behavior, into something that felt more personal and even affectionate. A way for a defense-oriented operator like Liskarm to keep her as safe as possible, for that even if she wasn't able to – for disagreement of orders and desires or for the mere fact that Franka was just beyond Liskarm's reach – she wanted to keep her as safe as possible.
Which was something that wasn't entirely tenable. With just her sidearm and shield, Liskarm could only do so much to protect her. And it wasn't like Franka couldn't take care of herself. But the mere act of watching over, and attempting to protect at all, was rather endearing to Franka.
But that's in a fight, in combat.
Not here.
Franka and Liskarm had never shared a room while working at Blacksteel.
But that wasn't the case on Rhodes Island. Someone in HR, who thought themselves clever giving the senior delegation and the junior delegation from BSW their own rooms, had no idea what they had done, or the mistake that they'd made when giving the pair of Liskarm and Franka a double, instead of just a single. But, granted, Liskarm didn't really let the nature of her relationship with Franka seep into her work or anything else – and Franka's naturally flirty nature didn't seem that much different than how she'd behave around anyone else that she was seemingly close with. And that assumption played well in keeping the nature of the relationship between the two fairly under cover – in more ways than one.
On the topic of covers, however, Franka had found out - the hard way - that Liskarm wasn't exactly inclined to share the covers of their shared bed at night. She didn't intend to do so, and that was a point of teasing between the pair. But for now, Franka was fairly naked, laying on her back, staring up at the ceiling as Liskarm gently snored next to her, Liskarm's body on the side of the bed closest to the door. There was one charming part of this, at least. And it was that her Vouivre partner's tail had wrapped itself around her leg in her sleep, almost as a way to keep track of where Franka was in bed, even if there was no real way for Franka to leave without Liskarm noticing anyways, since she'd have to crawl over the Vouivre.
So, instead, Franka sighed, and snuggled up to her partner, closing her eyes against the soft light flooding into the room from the external window. She took in a deep breath of content and simultaneously plain and simple relaxation. She did, reaching around her Liskarm, and trying to pull some of the blankets away from the thieving Vouivre. She managed to get some, finding that between what little what was able to pull over her chest and legs, and then intertwining her legs with Liskarm's, that there was plenty of warmth to be had.
There wasn't a reason to complain, considering now, Franka and Liskarm shared a room aboard Rhodes Island; and was more than comfortable sharing the space, and this bed, with her partner.
