Kitty's Wedding
A.N. Hey, all, GreenWiggle2018 here. Before we get started with this next story, I'd just like to announce that this may be my last story for now, because at the end of this month, I'll be moving across the country to Colorado, and I have some other stuff going on before the move, so I decided to go on a very short hiatus from this site until after the move. That being said, let's jump right into it.
One day, Ranger Kitty was outside the Danger Rangers' new headquarters cleaning her Kitty-Copter.
"If it's one thing that's just as important as keeping your body in tip-top shape, it's doing the same with your equipment." she said.
Soon, Kitty was finished with her chore, and she stood back to look at her work.
"Clean as a whistle." she smiled.
Once the Kitty-Copter was completely dry, Kitty parked it in the hangar, then started making her way to the common area. Just as she was, her cell phone rang, and she answered.
"Ranger Kitty speaking." she said.
"Hi, Kitty." a familiar male voice said from the other line.
Kitty smiled when she heard the voice.
"Tony!" she grinned. "So nice to hear from you! How are you today?"
"I'm doing fine." replied Tony. "I'm on my lunch break right now at work, so I thought I'd give you a quick call to see how you are, and also to ask you something."
"Ask away." nodded Kitty.
"The boys and I are planning a day trip to Wylie Park up in Aberdeen this weekend." Tony explained. "I was wondering if you and your friends would like to join us."
"That sounds like fun." said Kitty. "I'll ask them."
"Great." said Tony. "Well, I should go now. Talk to you later, Kitty."
"You too." replied Kitty.
With that, Kitty and Tony ended their call, and the former quickly rounded up her fellow Danger Rangers and told them about Tony's invitation. The other Rangers thought this was an excellent idea and agreed to go.
"Anyone who's friends with you is friends with us." said Sully.
Just then, there was a knock at the door. This caught the Rangers by surprise.
"Who could that be?" asked Burble. "I wasn't expecting anyone."
"I'll see who it is." said Chrissie.
Chrissie opened the door and was greeted by a male rabbit in a UPS driver's uniform holding a package with a "Fragile" sticker plastered on the top.
"Delivery for Ranger Kitty." the UPS rabbit said.
"That's me." Kitty said as she approached.
The rabbit handed Kitty the package, for which Kitty signed, then the rabbit tipped his cap and left.
"Who's it from, Kitty?" asked Fallbot.
Kitty smiled as she looked at the return address.
"It's from Mom." she said. "I wonder what she sent me."
Kitty went over to the couch and took a seat. Then, as the other Rangers gathered around her, she opened the box and found it contained four smaller rectangular packages that were all the same size and shape. Each of them had been wrapped in brown paper. As Kitty carefully removed the paper from each one, her face lit up.
"It's all my high school yearbooks!" she gasped. "From 9th Grade to 12th Grade!"
"Wow." gasped Squeeky. "That's a lotta yearbooks."
Kitty excitedly removed the plastic wrapping from each of the yearbooks. As she did, she saw something sticking out from under the front cover of her 12th Grade yearbook. She opened the front cover and discovered it was a folded piece of paper.
"Mom sent a note too." said Kitty. "Let's see what it says."
Kitty unfolded the note and proceeded to read it out loud. This is what the note said:
"Dear Kitty,
I found these while going through some of your things for a yard sale, and I figured you might like to have them. I hope these reach you safely, and please let me know if and when they do.
Love, Mom.
P.S. I also found your yearbooks from your elementary and middle school years, but I decided to send those seperately to save a little on postage, so keep an eye out for them."
"Well, that was sweet of her to think of you like that." Burble smiled as Kitty finished reading the note.
"Yeah." Kitty sighed happily.
Just then, Chrissie had an idea.
"Hey, maybe we can bring them with us when we meet up with Tony and the kids." she suggested.
"Great idea, Chrissie." Kitty agreed.
At that moment, Kitty's phone rang. When she checked it, she saw Tony's name on the Caller ID.
"Hey, Tony's calling again!" she announced.
"Put him on speaker." said Gabriela. "That way, we can all talk to him."
"Sure." agreed Kitty with a nod.
And with that, after hitting the "answer" button, Kitty placed Tony on speaker.
"Hello?" Tony asked. "Kitty? You there?"
"Yep." said Kitty. "And so are the others."
The other Danger Rangers went about greeting Tony, who returned the greeting.
"So, what's up, Tony?" asked Squeeky.
"I just wanted to give you guys an update on our plans." said Tony. "The boys and I will head on up to Aberdeen first and meet you guys there."
"Actually..." Sully put in, thinking of an idea just then. "Why don't we just swing by your house in the Hovercraft and pick you guys up?"
"You know what? I think I like that idea much better." said Tony. "It'll save me the trouble of stopping for gas along the way. Plus, I think the boys will like having a chance to ride in that Hovercraft of yours."
"So be it, then." nodded Burble. "What time do you want us to come and get you?"
"I'll let you know on a specific time later." said Tony. "In the meantime, I'm gonna get started on dinner, so I think I'll let you go. One more thing before I go, however; you may want to wear something else besides your uniforms, and maybe bring swimming clothes as well in case any of you wanna go in the water."
"Not a bad idea." replied Kitty. "Thanks, Tony."
And with that, the call ended, and as the rest of the afternoon and evening went on, the Danger Rangers looked forward to their day with Tony. The day soon arrived, and the Rangers were flying in the Hovercraft to Tony's house. As Tony had suggested, they were all wearing more casual outfits in comparison to their Danger Ranger uniforms; Sully was wearing a red t-shirt and blue athletic shorts, Kitty was wearing a yellow tank top and jean drawstring shorts, Burble was wearing a green t-shirt with khaki shorts, Squeeky was wearing a white t-shirt with a picture of a wedge of cheese on it and red shorts, Burt was wearing a dark blue golf shirt and white golf shorts, Gabriela was wearing a lavender sun dress, and Chrissie was wearing her pink sleeveless shirt with a picture of a flame on it and light blue shorts. Kitty had also brought a backpack with her. It wasn't long before they landed in front of Tony's house. Once the Hovercraft landed, Kitty called Tony on her phone.
"We're here." Kitty said when Tony answered.
"Great." replied Tony. "The boys and I are just getting the last of our stuff together. We should be out shortly."
"Sure." said Kitty. "Take your time. No rush."
Soon, Tony and his two sons, Robert and Dennis, more commonly known as "Robby" and "Denny", came outside. While both Robby and Denny were wearing their usual t-shirts, they were wearing denim shorts instead of jeans. Their father, on the other hand, was wearing a completelty different outfit. Just like his sons, he was wearing a pair of denim shorts, and with them a gray t-shirt with the United States Air Force logo on it in blue. Tony had a gym bag slung over his shoulder while Robby was carrying a picnic basket and Denny was carrying a beach bag. The boys gazed in awe as they watched the Hovercraft's boarding ramp extend.
"Wow, Robby!" said Denny. "We're actually gonna be riding in the Hovercraft!"
"Yeah!" his brother agreed. "Wait 'til the other kids at school hear about this!"
"I know you're excited, boys." Tony said as he and his sons began boarding the Hovercraft. "But try to keep the bragging down when you tell your friends about it, okay?"
"Yes, sir." said Robby.
Denny just nodded. Soon, Tony and his sons were in their seats, and the Hovercraft took off for Aberdeen, with Tony accepting the golden opportunity of sitting next to Kitty in one of the pilots' seats.
"So, Tony, what does Wylie Park have to offer exactly?" asked Burble.
"Oh, you guys are gonna love it." replied Tony. "There's mini golf, a swimming beach, pedal boats, playgrounds, sand volleyball, bungee jumping, and lots of other activities. There's even a Storybook Land attraction and picnicking shelters, along with bike and skate rental options."
"Wow." said Sully. "Sounds like a fun place to go."
"Yeah, the boys and I like to go there at least once a month if weather permits." said Tony. "Speaking of which, that's it down below."
Tony pointed to the entrance to the park, and the Rangers touched down. Fortunately for them, there was enough parking space in the parking lot to land the Hovercraft safely. Once the landing cycle was complete, everyone disembarked.
"Okay, boys, now what do we need to do?" asked Tony.
"Sunscreen!" said Robby and Denny at the same time.
"That's right." nodded Tony.
Tony got a tube of SPF 30 sunscreen out of the beach bag and applied it to himself and his sons. Kitty and the other Danger Rangers did likewise, then the whole group began making their way towards the entrance to the beach. As they were, Tony discussed his plans with the other Rangers.
"I was thinking we could all spend some time down here at the beach, then have lunch." Tony explained.
"Sounds like a plan." said Sully. "What do you have planned for after lunch?"
"That's up to you guys." Tony replied. "After all, you guys are our guests, so it's only fair we let you choose something to do here."
"Oh, okay." said Kitty. "Thanks."
Soon, they arrived at the beach, and Tony looked at his sons.
"Okay, boys, before we get changed into our swimsuits, let's go over the rules we have for going to the beach." he said. "What's our first rule, Robby?"
"We must stay where you can see us at all times." said Robby. "Both in the water and on the shore."
"Good job, Robby." Tony nodded with a smile. "What's next, Denny?"
"Don't go too deep into the water unless you have a grown-up with you." said Denny. "Also, no horseplay in the water."
"And most importantly..." Robby began.
"Keep the focus on fun!" both Robby and Denny said together.
"That's great, boys!" Tony praised. "Now, what are the rules for going to big fun places like this in general?"
"Like with the beach, we must stay with you at all times and not wander off too far." Robby replied. "Otherwise, we'll get lost."
"And if we do get lost, we need to remember where our special meeting place is." added Denny. "That way, we know where to go so we can find each other."
"Furthermore, if we can't find or remember our meeting place, we find an employee and ask for help." Robby went on. "Then that employee will take us to our meeting place or make an announcement for you to come and find us."
"Or, if we can't find any employees to help us, we stay right we are so it's easier for you to find us." continued Denny.
"And let's not forget the most important rule." Robby finished.
"To keep the focus on fun!" the brothers said again.
"That's right." said Tony. "Now, let's figure out a meeting place."
"How about the pavilion?" asked Denny.
"Perfect." nodded Tony. "Good job, buddy."
"Actually, good job to both of you." said Burble. "It sounds like you guys really know what to do."
"Yeah." agreed Squeeky. "You sure are raisin' your boys well, Tony."
"Thanks, Squeeky." said Tony. "I get comments like that all the time. Okay, gang, let's get changed and hit the lake!"
With that, the group all changed into their bathing suits in the restrooms, then their beach fun officially began. While Sully, the other Rangers, Robby, and Denny splashed around in the water, Tony and Kitty pedaled around the lake in a pedal boat. During their ride, Kitty and Tony spoke to one another.
"Say, Kitty, would you be interested in going out to dinner with me next weekend?" Tony asked.
"I'd love to." Kitty smiled. "Did you have a place in mind?"
"Actually, no." replied Tony. "I was wondering if you had any ideas for where you'd like to go."
"Well, now that I think about it, I have been craving Italian food lately." said Kitty. "There wouldn't happen to be an Olive Garden in the area, would there?"
"There is indeed." Tony confirmed. "Is that where you'd like to go?"
"If it's okay with you." replied Kitty.
"Sounds great." Tony agreed.
"Great." smiled Kitty.
Just then, Kitty remembered.
"You know, I have a surprise for you myself." she said.
"Really?" asked Tony. "What is it?"
"Well, if I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise, silly!" Kitty giggled.
Tony laughed.
"Good point." he said.
A while later, after having their time by the lake, everyone changed back into their previous outfits and was making their way to one of the park's picnic shelters. As they were, Tony noticed that Kitty had grabbed the same backpack from earlier.
"I wonder if the surprise is in there." Tony thought to himself.
Soon, everyone was indulging in delicious picnic lunch Tony and his sons had brought, which was pretty basic stuff; sandwiches, salad, chips, lemonade, and brownies for dessert, along with some oil for Fallbot. While they were eating and Fallbot was oiling himself, the other Danger Rangers decided to strike up a conversation with Tony.
"Say, Tony, there's some questions I've been wanting to ask you that I didn't get a chance to." said Burble.
"Fire away." agreed Tony.
"You said last time that you served time in the Air Force before coming a doctor." said Burble. "Can you elaborate on that some more?"
"Sure." Tony nodded. "This may come as a surprise, but when I first joined the Air Force, I had no intention of learning to become a doctor."
"Oh, yeah, I remember now." said Kitty. "You always talked about how you wanted to join the Thunderbirds* when you grew up, since you were such a big fan of them."
"That's right." said Tony.
"What made you change your mind?" asked Burt.
Before Tony could answer, Robby and Denny, who had already finished eating, came over to him and asked for his permission to go play on a nearby playground.
"Sure, boys." Tony said. "Just remember to stay where I can see you."
"Okay, Dad." said Robby.
With that, Robby and his brother scampered off.
"Now, where was I?" Tony thought out loud.
"You were going to tell us why you decided to become a doctor." Gabriela replied.
"Oh, yes." said Tony. "Well, don't get me wrong, I love this country very much, and I am willing to sacrifice myself to keep our country safe, and while being part of the armed forces does have its benefits, sometimes I just can't help but acknowledge the cons as well, especially when it comes to risking my life, and close to the end of my service, I began considering ways I could still protect my fellow Americans without having to risk my life."
"And let me guess." Chrissie put in. "You ended up choosing to enter the medical field?"
"I did indeed." nodded Tony. "So, after my term in the Air Force ended, I took the Family Medicine Residency at MSU and passed with flying colors."
"Good for you, Tony." said Sully.
"Thanks." Tony replied. "Now, I suppose you're all wondering how I wound up here in the Mount Rushmore State*."
"As a matter of fact, we are." said Chrissie.
"It's rather simple, really." Tony began. "After I completed Basic Training for the Air Force down in San Antonio, I was assigned to the 28th Bomb Wing at Ellsworth Air Force Base near Rapid City."
"Nice." said Squeeky. "When did you move to Sioux Falls?"
"I'm just about to get to that." said Tony. "See, when it came time for me to take my terminal leave, I decided to have a celebratory splurge day in Sioux Falls. And boy, to say I had a good time there would be an understatement. I fell in love with the area almost immediately, and I decided right then and there that that's where I would live after I finished my medical studies. Thankfully, I was able to pay for my tuition and my temporary move back to Michigan using my income from the Air Force, and once I completed my studies and earned my degree and received my medical license, I worked at the Community Health And Social Services Center in Detroit until I earned enough to pay for my move to Sioux Falls. The rest, as they say, is history."
"Indeed." agreed Burt.
Just then, Kitty remembered what she had told Tony about the surprise she had for him.
"Say, Tony, ready for that surprise I mentioned?" she asked.
"Oh, sure." agreed Tony.
With that, Kitty opened her backpack and pulled out the yearbooks she had brought.
"Hey, you brought your high school yearbooks!" Tony gasped happily.
"Yeah!" replied Kitty with a twinkle in her eyes. "I just got these in the mail from Mom today! Well, what do you say? Shall we look back at our young and reckless teen years together?"
Tony agreed with a hearty chuckle, and he and Kitty, with the rest of the Danger Rangers, began looking into the past via the yearbooks, and Kitty's Danger Ranger colleagues were all impressed when they saw her name and picture appear more than once in each one.
"Wow, Kitty, you must have really enjoyed school." said Burble. "I mean, look at all these clubs and sports you were involved in."
"And that's not all." Kitty pointed out. "I even became Class President for both my Junior and Senior years."
"I even helped her with her campaign." Tony added. "And every time we celebrated her victory, I would tell her that Mr. McCarty was proud of her too."
"Yeah..." Kitty sighed as a sentimental tear trickled down her face.
Tony then looked at his watch.
"Why don't we go round up the boys and see what we'd like to do now?" he asked.
The Rangers agreed, and they all went over to the playground to collect Robby and Denny, where they found them engaged in a game of horseshoes. Tony called his sons over to him and the Rangers, and they began discussing their plans from that point onward.
"Okay, gang, what are we doing?" asked Tony.
"Well, I'm not sure about anyone else, but I'm in the mood for a game of mini golf." said Burble.
"Me too, actually." added Burt.
"Count me in!" grinned Fallbot.
"I think I'd like to check out that "Storybook Land". said Chrissie.
"Oh, sí, that does sound interesting." Gabriela agreed.
Sully and Squeeky opted to try out the park's laser maze, as did Robby and Denny. This left Kitty and Tony as the only ones who didn't choose a second activity yet. That soon changed when they decided to rent a two-seater surrey bike and ride around the park in it. With those plans set in stone, after the Danger Rangers synchronized their SAVO Watches, everyone went to their chosen activities, and Kitty and Tony soon found themselves pedaling around the park on their surrey. During their ride, they talked more about their upcoming dinner date.
"The boys will need someone to look after them while we're at dinner." Tony said. "And their usual babysitter is out of town presently."
Right away, Kitty thought of an alternative.
"Tony, how would you feel if the boys stayed with the other Rangers?" Kitty asked.
It should go without saying that Tony liked the idea.
"I bet the boys would love that." he said.
"Awesome." replied Kitty. "Still, I think we should talk with the others about this and see if they'll be onboard with it."
Tony agreed. A while later, it was time for everyone to go home, so after gathering their things, everyone boarded the Hovercraft and took off. As they were flying back to Sioux Falls to drop Tony and his sons off at their house, Kitty and Tony talked about Kitty's suggestion regarding Robby and Denny staying with the other Danger Rangers while she and Tony had their date. Kitty's colleagues agreed.
"Paraphrasing what I said before to Kitty, anyone who's friends with one Danger Ranger is a friend to all the Danger Rangers." Sully said.
"Thanks, Sully." said Tony.
Soon, the Hovercraft arrived at Tony's house, and after dropping Tony and his sons off there and saying goodbye, the Danger Rangers flew on back to their headquarters. It wasn't long before the day of Kitty's dinner date with Tony arrived, and Kitty was in her room choosing an outfit to wear.
"Now, let's see..." she said. "What would be good to wear for my date?"
Kitty eventually settled on a salmon pink blouse and a royal purple knee-length skirt.
"Yeah, this will work." she said.
After grabbing her purse, Kitty left her room and made her way to the common area just in time to see Tony come in with Robby and Denny. While Robby and Denny were wearing their usual outfits, Tony was wearing a royal blue button-down shirt with navy blue slacks.
"Man, don't you look good." Tony said to Kitty.
"Right back at you." Kitty replied.
"So, you ready?" Tony then asked.
Kitty nodded.
"Great." said Tony before looking at his sons. "Have a good time, boys."
"You too, Dad." Robby replied.
Tony then looked at Sully and the other Rangers.
"Thanks again for agreeing to look after the boys." he said.
"Oh, it's no problem at all, Tony." said Burble.
"That's right." nodded Burt.
And with that, Tony and Kitty left in Tony's SUV, and soon arrived at the Olive Garden restaurant, where they were soon seated. When their server arrived, they both ordered raspberry lemonade to drink. The drinks soon arrived along with a basket of breadsticks. By that time, they both know what they wanted to eat, and both ordered the "Create Your Own Pasta" entrée, but while Tony's had rigatoni with meat sauce and Italian sausage, Kitty's had angel hair with creamy mushroom sauce and grilled chicken. Both ordered bowls of the Chicken & Gnocchi Soup with their entrees. It wasn't long before the soups arrived, and while they were eating their soup after grace was said by Tony, the two started up a conversation.
"You know, Kitty, I'm not sure if I told you this, but when you left Michigan for SDSU, I thought we'd never see each other again in real life." he confessed.
"I actually felt the same way." said Kitty. "And yet, here we are."
Just then, Kitty thought of something else.
"Say, Tony, I'd like to apologize." she said.
"What for?" Tony asked as he had another bite of breadstick.
"If I weirded you out when I kissed you that one time." was Kitty's reply.
"Okay, I will admit that it was a bit uncomfortable for me at first." Tony said. "But I got over it. Besides, now that I think about it, I'm thinking that maybe God is having all this happen for a reason."
"Hey, me too!" Kitty gasped.
"Really?" asked Tony.
"Yeah!" Kitty replied.
"Wow." said Tony. "Funny how we had the same mindset."
"Sure is." Kitty giggled in agreement. "But the big question is; what is God's reason for all this?"
"I'm not sure." shrugged Tony. "But I have a hunch we'll find out sooner or later."
At that moment, Tony and Kitty's entrées arrived, and while they continued dining, they continued to chat happily about their past together as kids. Later that night, long after the meal, Tony, who was now in his pajamas by this point, was sitting on his bed thinking about what he and Kitty were talking about.
"What if we're both right?" Tony thought out loud. "What if God really does mean for us to be together forever?"
Tony then noticed a framed photo of himself and his late wife, Tina, on their wedding day that was sitting on the nightstand. Seeing the photo caused something inside of Tony to switch on, and he looked upward.
"Okay, Lord, I fully understand now." he said. "If you want me and Kitty to be together like this, then let it be according to your will!"
A few weeks later, Kitty was in the checkout line at the grocery store when she felt her phone vibrate. When she checked it, she saw it was a short text from Tony simply telling her to go to Heritage Park around 5:00 and await further instructions. What stumped Kitty was that he didn't bother to add any type of greeting.
"That's strange." said Kitty. "Why would Tony text me something so randomly like this? This isn't like him at all."
She later discussed this with her colleagues.
"If I'm being honest, I'm at a crossroads about what to do." she was saying. "One part of me wants to just go see what Tony wants, but the other part thinks that I'm being set up as some kind of sick joke or something."
"Even so, I think you should just go anyway." said Burble. "After all, things aren't always what they seem. For all we know, maybe he just wants to talk to you about something in private."
"And if something does happen to you, you know you can call us for backup." added Chrissie.
"That's true." Kitty nodded. "Okay, then. I'll go. I mean, you're right, Burble. Maybe this won't be as bad as I think it will be."
Later that same day, Kitty arrived at Heritage Park in her Kitty-Copter right at the aforementioned time, and she texted Tony letting her know she had arrived. This was followed by Tony instructing Kitty, through a text message, to find a tree that had a blue ribbon tied to the trunk. Kitty, with assistance from SAVO, soon found the tree in question. Sure enough, there was Tony, waiting for her.
"Well, it sure took you long enough." Tony said with a teasing smile.
Kitty giggled.
"So, what's up, Tony?" she asked. "What did you want to talk to me about?"
"I've got a little something for you." said Tony.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small pink heart-shaped box, which he then gave to Kitty.
"This is a cute little box." said Kitty.
"Go ahead." Tony replied. "Open it."
Kitty did, and she found a yellow gold ring with a peridot, the birthstone for Kitty's birth month of August, in a heart cut.
"Oh, Tony, it's beautiful!" Kitty grinned as she tried it on. "And it fits like a glove!"
"That's because I had it made just right for you." Tony replied as he got down on one knee.
Tony then took out a folded-up piece of paper and unfolded it to reveal some written words on it, which he then began reading out loud.
"'K' is for 'Kind', because you have such a warm heart." Tony began. "'I' is for 'Incomparable', because there is no one like you. 'T' is for 'Tingly', because I am always excited when I'm around you. 'T' is for 'Truly', because truly, I am yours, and you are mine. 'Y' is for 'Yes', because I will always love you."
Kitty was more surprised then ever as she was hearing this.
"Tony, what exactly are you playing at?" she asked.
"This isn't a game, Kitty." Tony replied, looking up at her. "I love you, and I always have. I want you to be mine, Kitty. I want you to be mine forever."
Tony then cleared his throat before continuing on.
"Kitty Grey McCarty, will you marry me?" he asked.
Well, as soon as Tony finished asking his question, Kitty's eyes began filling up with happy tears as she now fully understood the nature of why Tony had summoned her to their current location.
"Yes!" she squealed as she threw her arms around Tony.
Tony laughed with delight as he literally scooped Kitty up and spun her around, then carefully set her back on the ground. As he was, Kitty heard her SAVO watch go off, and when she answered it, she found it was Sully calling to check on her. Kitty wasted no time announcing Tony's proposal to her colleagues, and they were all very happy for her. Burt then suggested they all go out to dinner to celebrate. Kitty and Tony agreed, so after picking up Robby and Denny, who were staying at a friend's house at the time, they all went to the local Texas Roadhouse for a celebratory dinner. Over the course of the next few weeks, Kitty and Tony, with some help from Kitty's colleagues, made all sorts of plans for the wedding, ranging from putting together the guest list, reserving a venue, ordering the wedding cake, and tracking down some of Kitty and Tony's closest childhood friends (besides each other, of course) and their parents. Tony also got in touch with the preacher at the church he and his sons attended Sunday services, who agreed to officiate it. In addition, Denny agreed to be the ring bearer while a girl from Robby's class at Tea Area Legacy Elementary was chosen as the flower girl. Sully was appointed as Tony's Best Man while the other male Danger Rangers and even Fallbot served as Tony's groomsmen. Chrissie, Gabriela, and a few of Kitty's old girl friends served as her bridesmaids. Soon, the big day arrived, and at the ceremony, which was being held at the Emerald Pines Barn, Mr. Carson (Tony's father) was walking Kitty, dressed in a traditional white wedding dress and veil, down the aisle in the place of her own late father.
"Thanks for doing this for me, Mr. Carson." Kitty said.
"Why, it's my pleasure, Kitty." Mr. Carson replied.
Soon, they arrived at the altar, and the pastor, an elderly male eagle, began the ceremony after Mr. Carson returned to his seat, and it wasn't long before they reached the most important part of it; the exchange of vows. Denny brought the wedding rings over to his father and Kitty.
"Do you, Tony Carson, take Kitty McCarty to be your lawfully wedded wife?" the preacher asked.
"I do." nodded Tony.
"And do you, Kitty McCarty, take Tony Carson to be your lawfully wedded husband?" the preacher asked, obviously this time to Kitty.
"I do." said Kitty with a smile.
"Then by the power vested in me by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, I now pronounce you husband and wife." the preacher then declared before looking at Tony. "You may kiss the bride."
The whole crowd erupted in cheers and applause as Tony and Kitty embraced each other and kissed. This was followed by Tony scooping Kitty up and carrying her inside the barn for the reception, followed by the rest of the wedding party. During the reception dinner, Robby and Denny, who were seated at the same table as the newlyweds and the other Danger Rangers, spoke to their new stepmother.
"So, Kitty, since you're pretty much our stepmom now, should we start calling you "Mom" now?" Robby asked.
"Or would you mind if we still continued to call you "Kitty"?" added Denny.
Kitty just smiled.
"I'm fine with either one of those." she said. "After all, I do understand this is going to take some getting used to."
"She's right, boys." Tony agreed. "And you can take as much time as you need to get used to this."
"Thanks, Dad." said Robby.
Just then, Denny had another question.
"So...does this mean Ranger Kitty's going to be moving in with us now, Dad?" he asked.
Kitty and Tony exchanged a nod with the former's fellow Danger Rangers. Sully then began speaking.
"Actually, Denny, we've been meaning to tell you and your brother this, but we were actually thinking that instead of Kitty moving in with you boys and your father, it could be the other way around." Sully explained.
Robby and Denny looked at each other with surprised smiles, then back at the others.
"You mean...?" Robby asked.
"Yup." chuckled Burble. "You guys are moving in with us."
The boys couldn't be more excited to hear that, but they still had some questions, especially Denny.
"But will we still be sharing a room?" Denny asked. "Or will we be having our own rooms?"
"That's up to you." his father replied. "And I'm fine with either one."
Robby and Denny thought about this for a moment, then exchanged nods and looked back to Tony.
"I think I'm ready to have my own room now." said Robby.
"Me too." agreed Denny.
"I mean, I did turn ten not too long ago." Robby pointed out. "As such, my thirteenth birthday is only three years away now."
"And I'm going to be ten in two years." Denny added.
Tony, needless to say, was impressed with what he was hearing, as were the Danger Rangers.
"Very good points, you two." he said.
"Are you sure you two are only in elementary school right now?" Burble asked.
Everyone laughed at Burble's humorous comment. The next Ranger to speak up was Burt, who stood up and tapped on the rim his glass with his fork.
"Can I have everyone's attention, please?" he called.
Everyone looked at Burt.
"Thank you." said Burt. "Now that I have your attention, I would like a propose a toast. To Tony and Kitty and the start of a new chapter in the history of the Danger Rangers!"
"To Tony and Kitty!" everyone replied as the sound of clinking glasses filled the air.
As Burt sat back down, Sully spoke up next, only he spoke right to Tony.
"Say, Tony, the others and I have something for both you and your boys." he said.
Sully then handed Tony a purple box with the Danger Rangers insignia on it and instructed him to open it. Tony did, and he found not one, not two, but three SAVO watches, one for him and two for his boys.
"Wow!" gasped Robby as he and Denny tried theirs on.
"Our own SAVO watches!" Denny added.
"Normally, we only give kids these things if we officially make them Junior Danger Rangers." Squeeky explained. "But, we took a vote and decided to make an exception just for the two of yous."
"Although, I would say that you two are off to a good start to becoming Junior Danger Rangers yourselves." Burble pointed out. "I mean, you two sure know a lot of important safety tips on a lot of things."
"And that's a very well put-together scheme you have with your father when you go out and about to places like Wiley Park." Burt continued.
"Yeah." agreed Kitty. "It's what I like to call a danger-proof plan."
Everyone had to agree. Some time later, after Tony and his sons had been moved into Danger Rangers Headquarters, he and Kitty were on their honeymoon, which was at the South Campground at Wiley Park. The two were in the same outfits they wore on the day the Danger Rangers first went to Wiley Park with Tony and his boys, sitting on the back porch of their cabin sipping glasses of iced tea.
"I can't believe it, Kitty." said Tony. "After knowing each other for so long, look where we are now."
"Yeah." Kitty replied as she sipped her drink. "What started out as a simple friendship between two kids blossomed into so much more, to the point where those two kids are now husband and wife."
"Indeed." nodded Tony. "I mean, Tina was a wonderful woman, don't get me wrong, but honestly, I think you may have been the one for me after all."
"Right back at you, tiger." Kitty giggled.
Tony growled playfully in response to what Kitty said. Just then, he thought of something.
"Say, what you said reminded me of a song that I think might suit us perfectly." he said.
"What song is that?" Kitty asked.
"I'll show you." said Tony.
Tony gout out his phone, set it on the table, and began playing "Can't Fight This Feeling" by REO Speedwagon on a bluetooth speaker he had also brought that was connected to his phone, and he and Kitty began slow-dancing to it right then and there as the sun was setting on the happy couple, and as the night went on, Ranger Kitty felt very happy to be with her one true love forever more.
The End
* 1. "The Mount Rushmore State" is the official state nickname for the U.S. state of South Dakota, for a pretty obvious reason.
* 2. The "Thunderbirds", in this sense, is the more common name for the United States Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, named after the mythological creature of the same name in various Native American cultures.
