(This is a completely unique story, as this is the SWORD ART ONLINE verse instead of the NARUTO verse, so please don't judge what I do)
(P.S, I love SAO and all of its seasons even though season 2 ALO was kinda mid I still loved it and plan on doing EVERY SINGLE SEASON THAT IS OUT. I have watched it over and over again so many times so this story will take place above all else. I will try my best to update the other ones, but don't expect them to be updated over this.)
Author's note: if you love Samehada and Kisame Hoshigaki and the Hozuki clan this is the what if for you, and the pairing is Naruto X Sinon, because Sinon is the best girl IMO, and maybe Suguha too if I feel like it.
Chapter 3: Kirito's Protector.
Timeskip - 1 year later
Scene change: Random Field on floor 11
POV: Kirito
We see Kirito laying on the grass with his newly found guild member and leader Keida
(Keida): The assault team made it through to floor 28, that's amazing!
Hey Kirito what the heck does the assault team have that we don't?
(Kirito): Well, access for information, with that they can find out the easiest ways to get exp and they don't share that info.
Sighing Keida crosses his arm.
(Keida): Yeah you're probably right, but what I think sets them apart is will power.
(Kirito): What do you mean?
(Keida): I guess I mean they have the will to stick up for their friends or do anything without hesitation, I mean you hear what one of their strongest fighters Kisame is capable of?
He shreds his opponents to ribbons and not to mention he isn't afraid to kill someone without hesitation.
That kind of will power is scary man.
I just hope he doesn't go rogue and starts killing everyone, I heard he's kind of unkillable.
Anyway. truth is, I'd like to think we have that same kind of drive, that said our first priority is looking out for each other, but someday if we get strong enough, we'll join the elites in the assault team.
(Kirito): That's a good goal, just don't think too hard about Kisame, I have met him a few times and he isn't that bad.
Suddenly Ducker jumps down behind Keita.
(Ducker): Hey, leader.
Gimme some love!
Ducker then puts Keita in an arm head lock.
(Tetsuo): So you really think we can be as strong as the Holy Dragon Alliance, The Knights Of The Blood Oath, or Kisame The Monster of the Mist?
(Keita): Yeah what if I do?
Nothing wrong with setting our sights high, but we have to be level 30 first.
(Sachi): That's impossible!
POV: Kirito's thoughts
I like the way Keita thinks if the black cats can level up fast and get to the front lines, his Ideals could change the elitist attitude of the assault team.
Timeskip - 1 hour later.
Scene change: Path on Floor 28
POV: Kirito
We see Kirito walking down a path until he sees Klein and his guild fighting red two tailed wolves.
(Kirito): Klein….
Klein stops and quickly turns around, gets in a stance and charges a sword skill, making his Katana go red.
Klein then charges forward, slicing through the beast killing it and making it explode in blue glass particles.
Klein then looks up and gets a shocked expression.
(Klein): What's up Kirito?
The trash mob is all yours guys!
(Klein's Guildmate): Sure!
Kelin then runs up the hill towards Kirito.
(Klein): Man it's been a while since I seen you, what are you doing some late night leveling or something?
What's up with that icon?
Did you join a guild?
Kirito then looks away.
(Kirito): Yeah I guess you could say that.
(Klein's Guildmate): It's all clear, we can move on!
Klein then sees a familiar person walking up to them
(Kisame): Kirito, Klein, is that really you guys?
(Klein): Kisame Hey, what's up!
Wow, this really brings me back to floor 1 doesn't it.
(Kisame): Yeah, no kidding.
Kirito then starts to walk off.
(Kirito): Well cya guys.
(Kisame): What's up with him?
Is he ok?
(Klein): Oh come on, is it still bugging him?
Kisame then gets a look of realization of what Klein is talking about.
(Kisame): I see, I'll follow him and make sure he's okay for the time being, it was nice seeing you Klein, stay safe man.
(Klein): Yeah you too, and hey.
When I saw Kirito he had an Icon about his name like he had joined a guild, so make sure nothing bad happens okay?
(Kisame): Alright, I'll do my best, I'll see you later Klein.
With that Kisame follows Kirito back down to floor 11 and follows him.
Seeing him run towards a bridge where he finds a girl.
(Kirito): Sachi?
(Sachi): Kirito….
(Kirito): Everyones worried about you, you know.
(Sachi): Hey Kirito….
(Kirito): Yeah?
(Sachi): We should…run away
(Kirito): Run away?
From what?
(Sachi): From this town, from the monsters, from the moonlit black cats, and from Sword Art Online too….
Hearing this shocks Kirito and unknown to them Kisame as well.
(Kirito): Are you talking about Suicide!?
(Sachi): That's not such a bad idea.
Sorry no….
If I had the guts to die, it would be inside town where it's safe would I?
But really why can't we just leave?
Why do we have to die, when it's just a stupid game?
What's the point of going through this?
(Kirito): Yeah, there is no point….I guess.
(Sachi): I'm so afraid of dying in here…
(Kirito): It's really that bad for you, huh?
(Sachi): I'm so scared, I haven't been able to get any sleep lately…
(Kirito): You're not going to die.
(Sachi): Really?
How can you be so sure about that?
(Kirito): The black cats are strong enough as a guild, besides our Margin of safety is well above the norm, plus you got me and Tetsuo up front, so there's no reason to be on the frontlines with us.
(Sachi): You honestly don't think I'll die?
Will I make it back to the real world?
(Kirito): Yeah, you're not gonna die.
You'll see, we'll clear this game and go home soon.
Sachi then gives Kirito a smile and sheds a tear as the two of them head back to the inn for the night as Kisame follows and sleeps on the roofs.
Timeskip - The next day.
Scene change: Dungeon on Floor 27.
POV: Kisame
Kisame tails the party of 5 as they go to the 27th floor to earn some extra cash and level up a little faster.
(Ducker): I told you guys this was gonna be cake.
(Sasamaru): We might be able to reach the front lines sooner.
(Ducker): That's what I'm talking about.
Look!
Ducker points out a panel on the wall and puts his hand on it.
(Kisame): No way a hidden door?
This can't be good that wasn't mapped out in this Dungeon so it must be a trap!
(Ducker): A treasure chest, Woo Hoo!
Ducker, Sasamaru, and Tetsuo hurry into the room
(Kirito): No,Wait!
(Kisame): Well, it looks like I have no choice, but to follow in, this could be bad….
Ducker opens the treasure chest only for the door to close behind Kisame as Kisame jumps up sticking to the roof to avoid detection.
The room turns from green to red, spawning enemies and opening doors for more enemies.
(Tetsuo): It's a trap guys.
(Kirito): Hurry let's get out of here
(Ducker): Teleport, Taft!
Huh, Teleport Taft!
(Sachi): We can't use our crystals!
(Kisame): A crystal trap huh?
(Kirito): They're probably being blocked by the walls.
Kirito swings his sword knocking back enemies, but Ducker falls down and gets stabbed to death by enemies, shattering in blue glass particles.
(Kisame): No!
Kisame jumps down surprising everyone there as Kisame and Kirito start hacking away at enemies killing them.
(Kirito): Kisame!?
What are you doing here?
(Kisame): Klein had me tail you, so I followed you here!
Gotta say this is a real jam!.
Kisame kills another enemy, until Tetsuo gets hit by an enemy killing him
(Tetsuo): Ah!
(Sasamaru): Tetsuo!
Damn you!
(Kisame and Kirito in sync): No, don't do it!
Sasamaru rams a spear skill into an enemy only for it to do barely any damage as the enemy hits him away, killing him.
(Kisame): Damn it!
Kirito and Kisame start charging through the enemies hacking away at them and manage to get to Sachi.
(Kirito): Sachi, are you ok!
(Sachi): Yes, I'm fine, but Ducker, Sasamaru, and Tetsuo….
(Kisame): I'm sorry this is happening to you, but we need to focus on fighting them off!
Timeskip - 6 months later
We see Kirito and Kisame sitting on a bench while an info broker named Argo is standing behind the bench in between them.
(Argo): I hear some people have been taking risks with their level raising.
(Kirito): You got any new info for us or what.
(Kisame): Cause otherwise we have better stuff to do with our time.
(Argo): Nothing worth charging you guys money for.
(Kisame): Talk about giving info brokers a bad name.
(Argo): Hey, it wasn't in the beta test, it's a first time event, how am I supposed to know what's gonna happen?
All I know is tonight on christmas eve, the event boss is gonna appear.
He's called Nicholas the renegade, he's gonna show up under a fir tree somewhere.
The Major guilds are searching everywhere for the tree as we speak.
Kirito and Kisame stand up.
(Argo): You guys wouldn't happen to know where it is would you?
(Kirito): Maybe….
Let's go Kisame….
(Kisame): Right.
(Argo): Are you guys thinking about going in by yourselves on this one?
Kirito and Kisame vanish into the distance in a cloud of mist.
(Kirito): In this world, the dead can't return to life.
I heard a rumor though, if you beat Nicholas the renegade, he'll drop an item that will revive a dead player.
(Kisame): So we're going in alone on this one huh?
(Kirito): Mhm, nobody will see us, nobody will know, nothing will be left behind, that's how it's gonna be and if we die, we die
(Kisame): You know the chances of that happening are very low right?
(Kirito): Yeah….
Flashback - 6 months ago after the dungeon.
Scene change: A random place in Traft
POV: Kisame
We see Kisame and Kirito with Sachi next to Keida as Keida looks at them with a look of terror.
(Keida): You're a Beater!
You had no right to be with us, you brought the Ally Killer and he got our friends killed!
(Sachi): Keida calm down!
It's not his fault!
(Kisame): You should really watch what you say to him, because from now on I won't tolerate my Duo being disrespected.
C'mon Kirito, we're going.
If this guy can only blame you for what's happened then he doesn't deserve to have you in his guild.
(Kirito): Right…..
Kirito leaves the Moonlit black cats and joins a party with Kisame for the next 6 months and has been searching for a way to revive players to atone.
Flashback End
(Kirito): It's my fault, my arrogance killed Ducker, Sasamaru, and Tetsuo, none of it would have happened if I showed my true level….
(Kisame): I've told you this a million times, it isn't your fault, Ducker got too greedy for his own good, he talked a big game and ended up not being able to back it up, Tetsuo was wrapped up in a bad situation, and Sasamaru got himself killed being too bloodthirsty for revenge.
Don't blame yourself for other people's mistakes, we managed to save Sachi and that's a good thing and I know for a fact she doesn't hate you for what you did.
(Kirito): Well if you weren't there we probably wouldn't have been able to save her, so thanks for that.
(Kisame): It's no problem, I am your Duo in this solo playthrough I won't let anything bad like that happen again.
(Kirito): Yeah well, let's find a way to beat Nicholas, so we can at least revive one of them.
Kirito and Kisame arrive at a fir tree and run towards it, only to go through a portal, they keep running until they come to a stop and see Klein and his guild come through from another opening.
(Klein): What's up?
(Kirito): You followed us?
(Klein): Of course!
You guys are after the revival Item aren't ya?
(Kisame): Yeah, what about it?
(Klein): Don't be risking your lives for some rumor that could turn out to be bogus.
Man you can't be messing around in this death game, once your HP hits zero that's it, Kisame may be an exception thanks to his water body, but you aren't, in the real world your brain gets friend and-
(Kirito): Shut up.
(Klein): Huh?
I'm trying to get you to stop with all your stupid soloing.
C'mon join up with us, whoever gets it to drop the revival Item, keeps it no hard feelings.
Hey that's fair isn't it?
(Kisame): But then there would be no point in trying to get it.
(Kirito): We have to do this, alone….
Kirito then grips the hilt of his sword as Kisame cracks his knuckles, making Klein's guild tense up and on guard while Klein stops them from attacking.
(Klein): Think about this Kirito, Kisame, it's suicide, and I can't let you guys die like that c'mon!
Kirito then unsheathes his sword a little as the Holy Dragon Alliance appears from the portal.
(Kisame): It appears that you were followed as well, huh Klein?
(Klein): uh huh, it sure looks that way.
(Klein's Guild member): It's the Holy dragon Alliance.
(Klein's Guild member 2): They'll do anything for a rare Item, no matter how shady.
(Klein's Guild member): What do we do?
(Kirito): You bastards….
Klein then Unsheathes his Katana and holds it in a stance.
(Klein): Uagh, Screw these guys, get out of here Kirito, Kisame!
(Kirito): No way!
(Klein): Leave 'em to us, we can hold them off, get going!
(Kisame): Kirito, let's just go!
Kirito looks to Kisame then back at Klein and nods.
Kisame then holds his arms in a weird sign and calls out a skill none of them were expecting.
(Kisame): Hidden Mist!
The area gets filled with mist as Kirito and Kisame start to sprint off, the mist then clears to show that they were gone and nowhere to be seen.
(Klein): Well that's a neat trick.
Scene Change: The Fir tree.
Kirito and Kisame look to see a glowing blue tree, as they walk up to it they hear a bell ring and bells start to jingle after a few seconds, a falling object can be seen crashing into the snow, putting Kirito and Kisame on guard, the boss Nicholas the Renegade twitches his head and 4 health bars appear.
Kirito unsheathes his sword and Kisame takes Samehada off his back.
(Kirito): Let's do this…
(Kisame): Yeah….
Kisame and Kirito charge at Nicholas the renegade in a battle cry before fading to white.
Timeskip - 30 minutes later
Scene change: Back where Klein and his Guild are.
Klein and his guild can be seen tired and worn out from fighting the Holy Dragon Alliance with their weapons scattered.
Suddenly Kirito and Kisame come back out of the portal, a revival item in Kirito's hand.
(Klein): Kirito, Kisame, Hey!
Klein looks up to see Kirito with a dead look on his face and a disappointed Kisame.
Kirito then throws the revival Item to Klein, in which Klein catches it.
(Klein): Wha-wha.
(Kirito): There, that's the revival item.
(Klein): Let's see, it says must administer to the affected player within 10 seconds!?
(Kisame): If someone dies in front of you some day, make sure to use it and not leave it to waste.
Kirito then walks off and Kisame follows in behind him.
Klein then grabs Kirito by his coat.
(Klein): Kirito, listen!
Kirito looks back at him.
(Klein): Stay alive, you hear, I don't care how you do it just stay alive!
Klein then lets go of Kirito as he walks off.
Kisame stands there and looks at Klein with a look of understanding.
(Klein): Kisame, please!
Take care of him, you and I both saw the look in his eyes!
Kisame then nods at Klein, giving him a look of understanding and walks off to catch up to Kirito as Klein falls to his knees.
(Kisame): Cya….
Timeskip - 1 hour and a half later.
Scene change: Kirito and Kisame's Inn.
We see Kirito with his head down on the desk while Kisame is sitting on the side of the bed looking at him in a look of dread.
An orange light then appears, causing Kirito to look up knowing it's a gift.
Kirito presses it and sees that it was sent by Sachi.
(Kirito): Sachi….
Kirito presses the button again to see a Diamond shaped object appear in his hands.
(Kisame): Play it.
Nodding Kirito presses his finger on it causing it to glow.
(Sachi): Merry Christmas, Kirito, Kisame.
Hearing Sachi's voice shocks Kirito and surprises Kisame.
(Sachi): By the time you hear this, it will be christmas.
How can I explain this?
I never really wanted to leave the town of beginnings.
And I knew if I fought with an attitude like that, I knew I would end up dying someday, but that's not anyone's fault, not yours, not Kisame's.
It's something I have to deal with.
Kirito, ever since that night you found me, you kept telling me I wasn't going to die, no matter what.
But what if something happened between us?
I knew you would blame yourself.
That's why I decided to record this for you after you and Kisame left me with Keida, who wants to apologize to you guys by the way, he said he shouldn't have said that and it was because of you two that I at least lived and it's not your fault that our guild died.

Sachi then proceeds to hum Rudolph the rednosed reindeer that causes Kirito to cry, leaking tears on the desk.
(Sachi): Anyway Kirito, I'm so glad I met you and that I could be with you, even for a little while, thank you, Goodbye….
The diamond shaped prism then stops glowing and falls onto the desk.
