Remnants of the Empire

Although the Empire has been shattered,

many leaders of the imperial regional authorities

remained in control and all now claim to be the

legitimate heir to the Empire. They fight wars among

themselves as much as they fight the New Republic.

Meanwhile on Coruscant, Chancellor Leia Organa struggles

to keep the New Republic together, as the Hapes Consortium

declared independence and more and more systems follow.

The fleet, under the command of Admiral Ackbar, can keep the

small imperial warlords down and take them out, however, they

struggle to keep Grand-Admiral Thrawn out of republican systems,

while he gathers more and more of the imperial warlords around him...

Chapter 1

Captain Pargon Vertsil looked at the vast expanse of space. The bright stars seemed darker today, now that any artificial light could be their enemy. His ship, an old CR90 of the new republic, the courage, had been sent to hide in a nebular and to report any imperial activity. "Sir, there is an unregistered object about to emerge from hyperspace", said the sensor officer, a Twi'lek named Elertia. The captain sat back in his seat and waited.

Then said ship came out of hyperspace. "Holy... is that a-?!", asked Vertsil. "Yes, Sir", replied his first officer, Rigon Estvan. Slowly the turbolasers of the Arquitens-class-light-cruiser turned to face the small corvette. "Shields up! Evasive manoeuvres!". The projectiles raced towards the courage like lances of light, cutting through the darkness of space. The courage evaded the first round of fire but now found itself cornered by asteroids. "Send a message to the high command, stating that their suspicions were right and that Yalton is indeed sending ships along this route", ordered Vertsil, "Lieutenant Rickson, we're gonna do a flyby, I want you to try and take out their bridge with the turbolaser". "Yes, Sir", said Lieutenant Ukner and Rickson simultaneously. The courage engaged her engines and bolted towards the Arquitens. The imperial cruiser opened fire immediately, mostly missing the small ship but some shots connected with the shields. "Shields at 36%, Sir!". Rickson opened fire on the Arquitens. He fired precise shots at the bridge but the shields absorbed everything. Another turbolaser shot hit the courage. "Shields at 24%!". More and more shots hit the Arquitens' shields. Another bolt of light struck the courage. "Change course", the captain said, "Engage the hyperdrive directly at those imperial bastards". With a loud humming, the hyperdrive came to life. The courage turned directly to the Arquitens. "Sir, our shields are down!". The hyperdrive continued to load. Suddenly, another round of fire hit the Corvette. It burst into pieces, each either burning or almost melting.

On Coruscant:

Admiral Rilua and her adjutant, Captain-Lieutenant Liston, stood in front of the impressing New Republic High Command building right next to the door of main entrance slid open and the two officers walked inside. They went to the elevator and headed straight to the office of Admiral Ackbar. With a hissing noise, the door slowly opened. The Admiral sat in his chair, looking at multiple holograms of the unknown regions, which they have begun to map. "You may step closer", he said. Rilua and Liston walked up to his desk, closing the door behind them. "You requested this meeting, Sir?", Rilua asked while crossing her arms behind her back. "I did. Three weeks ago, I sent a ship into a system in the outskirts of the unknown regions, Arakh-7, where I suspected Yalton to be moving his reinforcements through. A few hours ago, we received a transmission from them stating 'You were right with your suspicions, Sir. Yalton is-' then the transmission got interrupted by something. We haven't heard from them since", Ackbar explained. "And what does the 22nd fleet have to do with that?", Rilua asked. "I want you to take your fleet to the Arakh-7 system to investigate this incident", he replied. "The entire fleet, Sir?! For one ship? What kind of ship did you send? A Starhawk?", she asked jokingly. "I sent a CR90. However, since we lost contact before we could get any further information than Yalton moving his reinforcements through there, we don't know what to expect", Ackbar replied in a serious tone. "As you wish, Sir", Rilua said reluctantly and turned to leave. "May the force be with you", Ackbar said as Rilua and Liston left. The door shut with a loud hissing.
