A dark silouhette sauntered along a brick wall in the dead of night, as if it didn't have a care in the world. Except for the fact that about seven people were standing staring at it, and two were trying to shoot at it.
It looked down, revealing a face with beauty and delicate features to rival China Sorrows. Their- They were human- Hair was blue, a dark, midnight-blue, the colour of the sky around it.
"Hey, Dex, did you miss me?" She smirked, looking down at the people below them, speaking in a sort of high voice, the sort of voice that you would expect a ballet dancer, or perhaps a queen to have. Dexter tilted his head. "Miss you?" He laughed scornfully.
"Yeah, did you miss your ex?" She smirked yet again, and carried on. "And here we have some newcomers. They must have become your friends after the time of the Dead Men, or should I say, Dead Men and me," she grinned, watching as the two ladies with the Dead Men's eyes widened in shock. She was clearly relishing this, the shock that the other two were experiencing.
"Sku- Skulduggery? Who's this? And how do you know her?" The dark-haired one turned to the walking skeleton. He had a simply snazzy taste in fashion. But he'd changed since the blue-haired girl knew him. Something to do with... Ah yes, he had no skin anymore, that was it.
"Them," the girl corrected.
"Oh. Sorry," the dark-haired girl mumbled.
"I- She-" Skulduggery sighed. "She betrayed us. Their name is Jinx Sangre. She's an adept, and their power... Their power is luck,"
"What do you mean by luck?" The dark-haired girl asked.
"She's lucky. Like really lucky. And all their enemies... Well, they're unlucky. Basically their power makes them lucky, and she can make their enemies unlucky. Jinx uses she/them pronouns, and... Yes, she-" Skulduggery was cut off by Dexter.
"No no no, don't tell Valkyrie! She doesn't need to know!" So that was her name. Valkyrie. Weren't Valkyries angels from Norse mythology that carried dead soldiers off the battlefield? Pretty badass name, if you asked Jinx.
"What don't I need to know?!" Valkyrie demanded.
"She's Dexter's ex." Skulduggery concluded.
"Yes yes, now on with the murdering." Jinx rolled their eyes. Then their attention was caught by something- No- Someone else. The blonde woman. Her hair was tousled, and she was pretty lean. She wore brown leather, and her legs. Wow. Jinx really needed to ask what gym she went to. "You're pre-tty hot." Jinx smirked, and the blonde woman raised an eyebrow. Jinx noticed that Ghastly was standing next to the blonde woman, and he folded his arms and glared at Jinx, as if he was protective of the blonde woman.
"Someone's pretty protective." Jinx gave a sly grin.
"I-I'm not protective of Tanith!" Ghastly exclaimed, his face reddening.
"Oh well. I guess someone already has a crush on her, I guess I'll flirt with her another day." Jinx said in mock-sadness. Tanith raised an eyebrow.
"You were going to flirt with me?" Tanith smirked, an grin playing with the corners of her mouth.th

"Yeah, now om with the murdering!" Jina replied, clapping their hands. "Or..." She stopped as if considering something.
"Or...?" Skulduggery prompted.
"I could join you..."
