In this fanfiction the ninja are all teenagers but are still different ages (and Lloyd is both mentally and physically the age listed because of the tommorows tea), this is how old I am having them all be for this story:

Jay – 17 (Junior)
Kai – 17 (Junior)
Zane – 18 (Senior)
Cole – 19 (Senior, was held back a year)

Chapter 1: Bullies and Lovers
(Kai's perspective)
"Hey freak!"
Kai sighed and turned to face the person who was shouting at him.
"Are you talking to me?" He asked, knowing fully well what the answer would be.
"Yeah I'm talking to you, who else." The person said walking up to Kai.
"What do you want, Brad." Kai said, also knowing what Brad was most likely yelling at him about.
"I told you to stay away from this hallway and yet here you are." Brad said with a sneer.
"Well this hallway is the fastest way to get from my locker to my classes." Kai responded, ignoring the look in Brad's eyes.
"Then I guess I'm going to have to teach you a lesson." Brad said, with an evil glint in his eyes.
Kai gulped but knew from experience that it was better to not struggle.

"Ugh" Kai grumbled, rubbing his sore jaw. Brad had punched him a few times in other places, but when he had hit his jaw it had been much harder.
"This is going to leave a bruise." Kai mumbled as he tried to focus on his algebra class.
Suddenly he felt someone tap his shoulder and he looked to his left. It was Jay. Jay pointed to Kai's jaw with a questioning look and Kai mouthed Brad back to him.
Jay shuddered and gave Kai a look of sympathy. Out of all of the ninja Kai was the one who got picked on the most.
Lloyd was the golden teen and leader of the group, and as captain of the school's baseball team no one would dream of picking on him, he was too perfect. Cole and Nya would beat up anyone who tried to bully them. And Zane just didn't care enough to react to the taunts and jeers that were thrown at him.
Jay was the funny and charismatic one of the group who also had Nya - his girlfriend - and Cole - his best friend - as his bodyguards. That combination meant that he was practically invincible unless he was alone which was a very rare thing to happen.
So that just left Kai, sure Nya was his sister but she was mostly around Jay, Kai didn't have the fit and stocky build like Cole, and he wasn't everyone's favorite like Lloyd, and Kai's temper didn't help him ignore the things that were said about him, that meant that he was the one who got bullied and picked on, and he was the one who had to deal with people like Brad.
If only they knew I was a ninja, then no one would dare pick on me ever again. Kai thought wistfully. But Master Wu had told them all to keep their identities a secret until they were out of school so that they could lead a normal teenage life without the attention that being a ninja and an elemental master would bring them. So Kai had to just suck it up and deal with the bullies.

At lunch Kai and the rest of the ninja were sitting together when Brad and his goons came up to them.
"Hello, Brad." Kai said out of clenched teeth. "What brings you over here."
"I'm not here for you loser." Brad snapped, "I'm here to ask Lloyd something."
"What is it Brad." Lloyd said, he knew that Brad picked on Kai and was less than pleased about it but Kai wouldn't let him do anything about it.
"I was just thinking that you don't belong over here with these losers, you should sit with us at the popular teen table." Brad said with a smug look on his face.
"Yeah no. These are my friends, not losers, and you guys are all bullies. I don't want anything to do with any of you people." Lloyd said with a hard edge to his voice.
"Come on, we're so much better than all these other dorks." Brad said, still trying to convince Lloyd.
Without looking up from his lunch and in a scarily calm voice Cole said, "Brad, if you don't leave this table right now there are going to be more teeth on the floor than in your mouth."
Brad gulped and touched his mouth before huffing and marching off with his goons following him.
"I really hate those guys." Lloyd muttered and stabbed at his food angrily. Kai mumbled in agreeance glaring at Brad across the cafeteria.

The bell rang signaling the end of the school day.
Kai sighed and hurried to get to his locker before he ran into any trouble. He had ninja patrol with Lloyd after school and he didn't want to get held up. But unfortunately luck was not on his side.
Kai felt a hand grab his shoulder and slam him into the lockers. Kai groaned and turned to face whoever pushed him.
It was Brad.
Of course it's Brad. Kai thought in annoyance. He didn't have the time or patience to deal with him.
"What do you want Brad." Kai asked, using the last bit of his self control to not punch him in his smug face.
"I believe I've already told you twice not to go down this hallway, and it looks like you didn't learn your lesson last time." Brad said, leaning up against the lockers nonchalantly.
"Whatever Brad." Kai grumbled as he turned to walk away. But before he got far he was smacked across the back of his head, causing him to stumble forwards and drop his school books.
"I wasn't done talking to you, you boi freak." Brad sneered in Kai's ear.
With that last jeer Kai finally snapped. He whirled around, grabbed Brad by his shirt collar and pinned him up against the lockers. Brad had a look of shock on his face as the teen who he had always thought to be weak was able to overpower him in a mere second.
"I'm gonna tell you this once and only once Brad." Kai snarled at him, his amber eyes slowly shifting to red as his power came to the surface. "Leave me the hell alone."
Brad was silent, unable to speak due to shock. But Kai wasn't taking the silence for an answer. "Do you hear me!" He shouted, Kai shook Brad until the other teen snapped back to reality hastily nodding his head.
"Use your words Brad." Kai hissed.
"Yes, yes! I understand! Please don't hurt me!" Brad yelled trying to escape from Kai's iron grip.
Kai threw Brad onto the ground and gave him a final glare before picking up his books and making his way to his locker.

Kai was sitting down on the rooftop of a building surveying the city when Lloyd found him. Lloyd sat down next to Kai who only mumbled a quick hi before falling silent again.
Kai had been quiet and distant for the whole patrol and Lloyd was concerned, it wasn't like the red ninja to not make any witty remarks or try and do something reckless.
Lloyd sighed and ran a hand through his silky blond locks before saying to Kai, "Alright Kai, what did he say now."
Kai turned towards Lloyd with a frown and tried to play dumb, "What did who say?" Kai responded.
"Don't try that with me Kai, I know when you're lying, what did Brad say to you." Lloyd placed a hand on Kai's shoulder turning the other ninja to face him again.
"H-He called me a boi freak." Kai whispered, still not meeting Lloyd's eye. Lloyd knew that Kai was boi but Kai hadn't told him that it was Lloyd who he was boi for. He didn't know how Lloyd would react, and he didn't want to lose his friendship with the green ninja.
"That's low, even for Brad." Lloyd growled, his eyes starting to flash bright green.
"I mean, everyone knows I'm gay but they don't give me crap about it." As Lloyd continued some green sparks started coming out of one of his hands as his anger kept rising.
"Who are you gay for anyway?" Kai asked hoping that Lloyd would say his name but also doubting that he would.
"Oh um someone." Lloyd said, blushing and running a hand through his hair while turning away from Kai.
"Well who is it?" Kai asked, now genuinely curious.
"It's uh you…" Lloyd said, mumbling the last bit.
"What was that? I didn't hear the last part." Kai said, leaning closer to hear him better.
Lloyd started blushing more the closer Kai got to him. Kai was confused but then it hit him.
"Oh." Was all he could say. "It's me isn't it." He whispered.
Lloyd nodded his head and turned away saying, "Yeah but you don't like me, I get it. I-I'll just leave now."
Kai heard Lloyd's voice crack and grabbed Lloyd's arm before he could get up.
"Wait! I do like you." He said.
Lloyd turned to Kai with a tear running down his face which he quickly wiped off. "Y-You do?" He said.
"Yes, I do. More than you will ever know." Kai said, looking deep into Lloyd's emerald green eyes.
Both boys slowly started leaning towards each other without even realizing it. Then when they were only an inch or two apart Lloyd blushed and started to back away. But Kai wasn't going to let him leave so soon. He grabbed Lloyd's wrist and pulled him back to him. Lloyd blushed even more and Kai gently placed his lips on Lloyd's, after a few seconds Kai pulled away and looked at Lloyd's face.
Lloyd had a dreamy look on his face and he suddenly fell into Kai's arms with a sigh.
Now it was Kai's turn to blush as he held the green ninja in his arms.
"Wow Kai," Lloyd mumbled, "That was amazing."
Kai chuckled and replied with, "You thought that was amazing? Just wait till we get somewhere more private."
Lloyd sat up and looked at Kai with eyes that were so wide Kai was amazed that they didn't pop out of his head.
"Oh, um, nevermind, just forget I said that." Kai said turning away from Lloyd and mumbling to himself "Shit I shouldn't have said that to him, I'm such an idiot."
"N-No, I was just surprised, that's all. That was my first kiss after all, I didn't know it could get better than that." Lloyd said hurriedly trying to reassure Kai.
"Does that mean you want to make this official?" Kai asked.
"Yes Kai, it does." Lloyd said, blushing as he grabbed one of the fire ninja's warm hands to hold.
The two new lovers sat together on the rooftop and looked out into the sunset, both happy with everything that had just happened. Lloyd placed his head on Kai's shoulder and murmured to Kai, "I love you Kai." Kai murmured back, "I love you too Lloyd."
