Krolia hugged baby Kari closer to her chest. She had heard something moving behind her but she didn't know what it was. Krolia had returned to earth to see her son and husband again plus, to introduce them to their newest family member. She had been there for a week already without any signs of her family. And now something was sneaking up on her, turning around to face her stalker Krolia sees a little girl staring back at her.

The little girl had short thick dark golden hair, the tail and ears of a cat and big violet eyes. "Hello there little one, are you lost?" Krolia asked gently. The little girl shook her head appearing to be right at home in the desert. From the looks of it she was only seven-years-old and alone. "Follow me, I know where your son is." The strange little girl spoke for the first time.

"What about my husband?" Krolia asked both relieved and worried.

"I don't know, you'll have to ask the adults they know something."

"By the way, what's your name?"

"Kidge Holt, what's yours?"

"Krolia and this is Kari." The baby's cat ears twitched at the sound of her mother's voice. She looked like her brother except her were violet instead of greyish blue, her hair was violet instead of dark brown and Keith didn't have cat ears nor a cat tail like his sister. Before long they came to a hidden village neatly tucked out of the way. The inhabitants of the village varied a great deal but they all seemed to have both galra and human traits.

"I never knew a place like this existed on earth." Krolia commented oddly feeling completely at home in the busy village.

"You mean a place where everyone is half galra and half human?" Kidge asked acting as if she had expected this.

"I noticed that everyone appeared to have a mixed heritage, I just didn't realize everyone was as much of one as the other."

"We call ourselves Tearans and we have been here about for many generations."

"Is this the only place where tera live?"

"No there are a couple other villages that I know of. Were almost at my house now." Kidge chirped. Making there way through the last few streets they came to a small little cottage with a path of smooth blue stones leading to a red door with a yellow crescent on it. A woman with lavender skin came out and scolded Kidge for wandering off. Other than her skin she looked completely human and for some reason didn't seem to be surprised to see Krolia. "You must be Keith's mother; your son is inside." She told Krolia waving her inside.

Upon entering the cottage Krolia spotted her son clutching the plush violet and lavender panda she had given him. Keith looked up at her, it took a few seconds but when he recognized his mother, he ran to her dropping the beloved panda along the way. It had been five years since she had to leave him behind to protect him from dangers no five-year-old should know. Now her little boy was ten and her cover had been blown so there was no need for Krolia to return to space. Finally, she could escape the war that had plagued her childhood.

_Eight years later_

"Kidge this is a bad idea." Keith hissed watching the garrison officers wearily.

"You want to see what's in there don't you?" She asked bopping him on the nose with her tail causing him to blush.

"Of course, I do, I just don't want to get expelled for it."

"Scaredy cat."

"Am not."

"You've got to be kitten me, you totally are."

"Just stop with the cat jokes."

"Come on you know that's the feline for being friends with me." Kidge told Keith elbowing him play fully. It was then they saw the opportunity they had been waiting for, someone else had tried to get in and was spotted. Now with the coast clear they disabled the cameras and snuck in. Inside they found Kidge's brother Matt, who looked completely human except for violet eyes, strapped down to the table passed out.

It had been a year since he had gone missing on the Kerberos mission. During that time Matt had apparently acquired a blade that was similar to the one Krolia had given to Keith. Moving quickly Kidge popped claws out of her fingers while Keith pulled out his blade and together, they cut the restraints. Silently the two kits carried Matt (after grabbing his blade) and to Keith's hoverbike on which they returned to Keith's house. Little did they know that two cadets had followed them and were about to get dragged into an adventure with them.

The princess was very adamant that no galra would be permitted to roam the castle, so her chief advisor took their things and locked them up. However, the two cadets, Lance McLain and Hunk Garret were tasked with fetching the yellow lion. "I knew we couldn't trust that mullet as soon as I laid eyes on him." Lance grumbled as he headed towards his lion. Hunk on the other hand felt sorry for the others and just wanted to go home.

While those two were out Allura worked on finding paladins for the rest of the lions. She knew that her adviser, whose name was Shiro could pilot the black lion so it was only a matter of finding someone for Red and Green. The results Allura was getting were not to her liking. Apparently, Keith and Kidge were perfect matches for the last two lions.

Continuing her search the princess grumbled that whoever sent the group of galra had done their research. "You know with Sendak on his way we may have to use his pawns." Shiro stated watching the approaching cruiser with worry. Allura grimaced at the thought. "You think Sendak is the one who sent the little group of galra scum?" She asked after some thought. He turned to her and nodded. "This is probably the back up plan since we didn't fall for it." Shiro affirmed with certainty. Allura nodded if it came to using the half breeds, they of course would have to be restrained to some extent and replaced later.

In the cell, Krolia scowled thinking about how the alteans reacted to seeing them. She had allowed herself and her children and this is how she is repaid! It isn't like Krolia wasn't used to being looked down upon for being galra, any kit born into a resistance group is. But to be rejected by the very people you had been waiting for was too much to take. The kits were all snuggled up against her seeking any comfort she could give. "If those two are the heroes of legend, then them wining won't feel as good as I thought." Matt sighed this was how they all felt and they all knew it.

Putting his head on his mother's shoulder Keith pondered what would happen to them, he hoped the alteans would at least show mercy to Kari since she was only eight-years-old. Keith also thought about how this would be a sad way for the legend of Voltron to unfold. They had all heard of the Voltron Heroes since they were small kits. That story had given them hope for the future, but now none of them were sure that the "heroes" wouldn't dispose of them along with the empire.

"No mater what happens we'll face it together were family after all." Kidge spoke up.

"Yea, we'll show them!" Kari yelled causing her mother to shush her. A moment later Shiro approached the cell holding restricting bands. Stepping inside he put one on each of them. "We need these two temporarily pilot the last two lions until proper paladins can be found." The alteans informed them pointing at Keith and Kidge. Kidge and Keith exchanged a look annoyed they were being used but glad that they were being let out of the cell.
