This is a short story based on characters that I do not own and references to established works.

This is a reimagining of the fairytale Beauty and the Beast, with those characters and references.

Chapter 3

"The Beauty"

Just outside of Port Charles, Spencer's hometown, there lived a beautiful young woman named Trina. Trina was not like most of the young women in her town, who only seemed interested in going to parties and dancing. Trina was focused on everything related to art. She loved looking at art and she loved making art-drawing, painting, sculpting, taking pictures-if it had anything to do with art, Trina was captivated. Because of this, Trina did not have many friends-no one could understand her fascination with art.

Her father, Marcus, was a private investigator, who often used unique and strange methods to solve cases. Because of this, he, like his daughter, was often viewed as quite peculiar by most in town.

Despite both Trina and her father being viewed as somewhat odd, there was one in town who longed to be a part of their lives. That person was Dex, a not too bright young man, who didn't really seem to have much of a job or profession that anyone could really describe. Dex, who was quite vain, was determined to marry the most beautiful woman in town-Trina. However, Trina had no use for Dex and turned down every marriage proposal that he offered.

One day while following a lead for a case, Marcus took a wrong turn. His GPS had been acting up and he ended up driving for quite a while. Unfortunately, Marcus ran out of gas and had to walk to the nearest house he could make out in the distance.

"My goodness! What an amazing mansion!" Marcus marvelled, as he made his way to the gate. He pushed the button and the gate suddenly opened. So, he went to the front door, tried the knob, and turned it. To his surprise, it opened. Now, being in law enforcement, Marcus knew that what he was doing was not entirely legal, but the investigator in him could not help himself. So, he went in. It was so still and quiet. As a matter of fact, it was eerily still and quiet.

"I better get out of here," Marcus thought to himself, as he turned back towards the door. It was at that moment, however, that he came face-to-face with the Beast.

Before Marcus could react, the Beast ordered his guards to take Marcus down into a dungeon-like cell on a lower-level in the mansion. Marcus begged to be freed, but his words fell on deaf ears with the Beast who remembered all the times when being kind led to no reward.

Meanwhile, Trina realized that her father had not returned from working on his case, soon after she had finished working on her latest art project. Because he was often apt to be gone for long periods of time, Trina had insisted that he always wear the watch that she gave him for his birthday a few months earlier. Little did Marcus know, however, that Trina had fitted the watch with a tracking device. This way, if he ever needed her, Trina could always find him. She went straight to her computer to check her father's location. According to what she saw, his location put him at a home in Port Charles, and he had been there a while.

Trina got in her car and made her way to her father's location. When she arrived, Trina did exactly as her father had done to gain entrance. Accordingly, she too, was startled by the beast.

"Who are you?" thundered the Beast.
