Midnight's special ability(Part 1/4)

Out near the edge of Equestria lies a hut where a very special pony lives. This Pony was Midnight, and he was busy reading a letter he received from Celestia which was inviting him to the Castle... But Midnight had specificly asked to only be messaged if the Mane 6 were unavilable, so whatever the Princess needed had better be important. After all Midnight could only be away for unimportant things for so long or else Shadowmare(His "cat") would start getting restless and eventually would chase him... not that Midnight wouldn't be able to handle it, but rather he didn't want to deal with that. He was rushing with his Rapidus Fio on and having a leg warmer and Sonic Saddle to ensure he gets there as fast as possible to avoid being caught using his special ability. If somepony got a close enough look they would be able to see that Midnight was without a Cutie Mark, however Midnight was faster than most Earth Ponies so he got to where he needed to be without a doubt without being caught aside from blowing wind. When Midnight got to the Castle he pulled out a PDA, and instantainlessly changed to his usual Armor and sword, removing the Sonic Saddle and Leg warmer, he also changed Rapidus Fio for Felicem Fio and started walked through the Castle halls, having no trouble figuring out where to go as he knew this place like the back of his hoof. He eventually got to the throne room where Celestia and Luna were waiting for him, "You're here Midnight, glad you could come here on short notice," Celestia said giving Midnight a concerned look. "Well, I hope it's important, who knows how long it'll be before Shadowmare starts chasing me if they haven't already," Midnight stated awaiting a response from the princesses, it had been four years since Midnight first helped them with Discord and Midnight still stayed calm. "Well, depends on your definition of 'important', if you are referring to 'if you don't do it the land of Equestria then it will no longer exist' then not quite, but if you are referring to 'if somepony important asked for it' then yes," Luna said dropping the pattern of speech they usually used, just like when Midnight needed to help them all that long ago... in fact, it was thanks to Nightmare Moon that Midnight was able to feel fear since arriving in Equestria, and partly how they were able to find the Mane 6 shortly after it. "So you called me here... because some important Pony called for me?" Midnight asked without looking at the princesses but almost immediately after took that back, the reason unclear to the princesses but clear to Midnight. Midnight had the spirits of multiple ponies following him, they were in this order: Derpy Hooves, Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle(who were tied together with vines, some poking through the duo), Zecora, Luna, and Trixie Lulamoon. But despite what maybe be thought, none of these are from the world where Midnight is currently residing, but instead a dream world which followed into the real world.

Shadowmare was sitting at home when Midnight returned... carrying books? It seemed that when Midnight was getting close to home he switched from actively carrying them to using magic to cause them to float on their own it seemed. He set them on his table and started reading... for about five minutes. "This book is boring Midnight, can't we read something else?" The spirital Apple Bloom asked with notible boredom to which Midnight said that the books were important to something he needed to work on, but this just angered the other part of the spirital duo, "Well, I agree with Apple Bloom, the princesses shouldn't have signed you up for defending Twilight Sparkle. She could have come here and asked you herself," The spirital Sweetie Belle replied to Midnight's statement, and Midnight stayed calm and said, "Yeah, Twilight Sparkle could have come here, but even the princesses barely know where I live, the only pony to know is Flash. But I guess we could read some more later," and the pitch black Pony went and gave Shadowmare some pets and started using magic to organize everything... until somepony knocked on his front door. Midnight took a look towards his door and found the Purple Alicorn at his door, he walked to open to door without using magic just to keep up the guise of being a "Totally normal Earth Pony" and welcomed the Alicorn in.

"This is a pretty cramped hut you have," Twilight said looking around and Midnight nodded in agreement, "Yeah, I rarely have anypony over so I don't need that big a hut." Midnight walked over to a book shelf he installed himself and pulled out a book with a cupcake on the cover, but immediately put it back instead pulling out a book with a number of creatures on it, some familiar, some not. Midnight opened it to a seemingly random page and read, "Number 76 Changeling. A creature that assumes the form of its intended victims. Strong, nothing, Weak, Nothing. Drops Broken Heart and Throne Piece." Twilight sat in awe at Midnight having a limited print book, supposedly written around 4 years ago. "How did you get your hands on that book?" Twilight asked Midnight expecting a clear as day answer, but Midnight said, "Who do you think wrote it?" Twilight soon figured it was time to get to what they were planning on from the start. "Okay, Midnight, I want to get this across now. I want to take you to meet my friends, now I know-" Twilight was cut off by Midnight saying, "That I prefer to stay here if I am not needed?" Midnight gave Twilight an angry look, but sighed and said, "We'll go, but don't expect me to do this everytime... I am a professional fighter slash monster slayer."

Twilight and Midnight were walking to where Twilight asked the other members of the Mane 6 to wait. Midnight wasn't worried in the slightest about meeting them, which did cause a hint of worry but Twilight thought back to what he said, "I am a professional fighter slash monster slayer," Midnight was giving her a look of worry, it seemed Twilight walked into a tree in her little think back. The others were here, she knew they might have been confused but it seemed that somepony had already made things strange. "Well, you through napping after bumping into the tree, because I have somepony to chase down," Midnight said without a hint of fear, but Twilight had an idea, "Yeah, but how about I handle it, things can't be that bad that you have to chase them down right?" But Midnight sighed, being more worried about Twilight's head than actually about her, considering Midnight needs to fix the mess caused by HER. "E-excuse me... who's her?" Fluttershy, a mainly yellow pegasus with pink mane and and cutie mark showing four butterflies, asked hoping things weren't to bad. "'Her' is none of your business, I can handle HER, and I need, no not need WANT to handle HER... especially after what she did to me all that time ago," Midnight said and started running, seemingly at a much faster pace than he was capable of before, moving with such vigor that nopony would've guessed he was partly objecting to meet Twilight's friends.

Midnight was chasing a pegasus, she seemed normal enough but Midnight knew, this pegasus was Marshmellow, his mother who esentually abandoned him when he was 5, and yet they didn't stop. "GET BACK HERE MARSHMELLOW!" Midnight yelled but Marshmellow didn't stop until... they reached it. The statue, Queen Chrysalis... Marshmellow's queen. Midnight knew what Marshmellow's plan was, Marshmellow or some admiral Changeling would get the Elements of Harmony then Marshmellow would free Chrysalis... and Midnight was none-the-wiser. Marshmellow turned and faced her son and revealed her true form... a Changeling. "Well Midnight... how's it feel having lost the race and thus all the progress the Mane 6 made, especially since you have been a thorn in all of the remaining Changeling's sides!" Marshmellow said, Midnight's expression changing none. "You did it..." Midnight said without a hint of emotion just as the Mane 6 got there, "You did the very thing I tried to avoid..." Twilight watched in horror as Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy Glow are freed from their prison, it had been a couple of years since they sealed them in stone with help from Discord and the princesses... Midnight stared, emotionless, at the Changeling that considers themself his mother, "So, even after all this time, you never changed sides... I figured you would have given up on Chrysalis after the Mane 6 sealed her in stone, but no... no... you were waiting for the perfect time to strike... you Changelings never change, ironic huh? ha..." Marshmellow was staring at her son in shock, she figured if she showed Midnight how planned Changelings can be then he would be on her side, but he was unchanging... it seems he still resents Chrysalis, even after all the preparing, the Changelings will never get the perfect spy. "Midnight, you should know better, these worthless ponies have nothing to offer you now, and you still side with them?!" Marshmellow said in the classic Changeling voice, just bit higher because of the fact that Marshmellow is a female, but Midnight just stared, by now Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy Glow were all free but it seemed Midnight wasn't finished, "So... you think that I want something to help them? No, no, no, no, noooo... no, in fact, that's why the last time I helped 'these worthless ponies' was 4 years ago. I'm a last resort, if I died from some stupid cause, then what, if the Mane 6 were all dead, then what would Equestria do? Because it's obvious that Flash can't do anything, because, if you remember, when Celestia asked them to retrive the Element that I easily got back, two of the guards HE was supposed to protect got injured, and I helped them. So if you want to point at some species that is truely 'worthless' then point it at yourself, Chrysalis, or any of the other admiral Changelings, because in my experince, Changelings are awful fighters and awful actors, in fact, if you got a job as an actor, then I almost garentee that you would be fired near immediately, if you got lucky enough to get the job in the first place," Midnight stated, but he prevented Marshmellow from speaking by steping forward... towards Marshmellow, "And if you think that this is going to go in your favor, then you've got another thing coming... group me with the ponies all you want, it me with your stolen moves all you want, but you will NEVER come close to beating me, not even by a sliver," Midnight added as he got closer, but in the end Marshmellow and co teleported away.

"Midnight... are you sure that you can find them?" The spirital Luna asked followed by the spirital Trixie saying, "Yeah, the Great and Powerful Trixie also wonders if you have the ability to find Chrysalis, not saying you aren't Great and Powerful in your own way of course," and Midnight pondered that, did he have the ability to find them, Shadowmare could help if they hadn't teleported away... He didn't get to ponder this for long as a knock was heard at his front door, and this time he didn't immediately open it, but that wasn't his usual style, "Are you sures you are okays? You aren't opening the door," The spirital Derpy Hooves asked in their childlike speech impediment, but Midnight had no reason to not answer them, "No Derpy, I'm not okay... Marshmellow managed to get by me, and they even completed the very thing I have been trying to avoid them completing, in fact if Celestia knew I failed my one. single. mission! I'm not sure what she would think, she has gotten to know me because of the fact that I was following the Elements representations, I was honest, I was loyal, I was generous, I was kind, and I laughed... Hell I even have the best magical abilities of any pony because of my single unique ability that allows me to use anything outside of Earth pony capablities just by looking at the action. What would my father say that I let Chrysalis be freed..." All 6 spirits looked between each other, but stopped when the knocking occured again, "I'll open the door for them." The Mane 6 stepped inside and Midnight ressumed looking at maps trying to find where Chrysalis and Marshmellow could be, Midnight just had to hope that the Mane 6 weren't listening and that he finds their hideout as fast as possible but he was having no luck... maybe he could call an old friend, X-X(Also called Zero or Lucky, Short for X-X!V``Q), who might just accidently find it. Midnight started writting a letter.

"Dear Zero,

I am reaching out to you because I require your extreme luck, you know where I live, if not you could ask Flash... and if you can, get my father Brendan on this case, it concerns him as much as you and me. Thanks
