Clark woke up to a conversation taking place. Though woke up was not a truly accurate description, for he did not entirely wake up. Did not sit up, did not open his eyes, but did overhear snippets spoken in J'onn's unique cadence, explaining some of the particulars of the recent battle - "Luthor... distracted by his latest show of artillery... his latest battle suit… they did not realize the presence of the cloaked sniper until it was too late…" Then somewhat surreally, snippets of J'onn explaining Clark's own condition: "Kryptonite poisoning… stable condition, but slow recovery... in and out of consciousness...".

"Do you have a sample of the kryptonite?" That was spoken in a different voice, another unique cadence, that had none of the musical lilt of J'onn's, that harbored no trace of another language, spoken not only in another land, but on another planet. A beautiful language, but a dead language, from a dead people.

No, this voice was from a native of Earth, specifically Gotham City. It was a deep voice, almost monotone in this asking. When he was acting as his alter ego, that voice could range from charming amusement to a silky smooth baritone. But that side of it was rarely heard when he was in long black cape and menacing mask as he surely was now, though Clark could not see him.

And it was fitting. That would be the question Bruce would ask. Still, knowing he was here brought a great sense of peace to Clark, and he felt himself relax, knew he was going to drift off again, but it would different this time. Not the dragging into unconsciousness, into incapacitation, that it had been, but settling into a rejuvenating rest, and he was right, as he overheard the final words of this exchange.

"Yes. It is in the lab." J'onn confirmed.

"Good. I'll head there now." Knew that tone. Bruce was done here. And J'onn knew it too, which caused him to ask, with a rare show of surprise.

"You are going to see him, aren't you?"

"After I figure out what Lex did to him." was Bruce's answer, followed by the falls of his footsteps as he walked away.
