Chapter 1: Journal Entry by Edward "Ned" Malone
"To all those who may read this, I pen down the closing chapter of our astounding journey. What began as an expedition to validate the implausible claims of Professor George Edward Challenger, turned out to be something quite different - a voyage into another world that transcended our understanding of time and life.
This wasn't merely a 'Lost World', a plateau nestled in the heart of the Amazon jungle, as we originally thought. It was an entirely different realm, a life-source for all existence - past, present, and future. Many other worlds exist parallel to each other, and the Plateau serves as the nexus - connecting them all through space and time. The Amazon jungle, as we discovered, was but a gateway, a portal from our world to this extraordinary realm. We presume that there might be other entrances to the Plateau, scattered across the globe. Challenger is determined to find them all.
Within this realm, we stumbled upon a city known as Avalon, home to none other than Abigail Layton, Veronica's mother, whom we'd presumed lost. As the designated Protector of the Plateau, she safeguarded this realm and its myriad mysteries. Passing her responsibility to Veronica, she bestowed upon her a powerful artifact, the Trion, a symbol of her newfound duty as the guardian of the realm.
In this world, our lives intertwined in ways we could never have imagined. Marguerite Krux turned out to be a reincarnation of the druidic priestess Morrighan, descended from the line of Mordern. She held the balance of the Plateau within her grasp. Her choice of allegiance between good and evil had tipped the scales of this world's fate - and by extension, the fate of other worlds as well. Lord John Richard Roxton, her destined protector, was there to guide her through these cosmic choices. This newfound destiny forged a deep spiritual bond between Marguerite and Veronica, making them more than just friends - they became sisters in destiny.
Then, there was Finn, a girl from one of the possible futures. She was revealed to be of my bloodline, my great-great-granddaughter through a past encounter with an Amazon woman warrior named Phoebe. This revelation added another layer of complexity to our group dynamics. Now, she lives among the Amazon tribe, adopting their ways and learning to be a warrior.
Yet, here lies the most stunning revelation. Arthur Summerlee, who was presumed dead, was very much alive. More than that, he was Abigail's father. His task had always been to incite Challenger's intellectual curiosity, shadow our group and ensure everything went according to plan. All this time, while he was missing, he had been dwelling inside the walls of Avalon, reunited with his daughter, Abigail, and patiently awaiting the reunion with his friends and companions.
After braving various challenges, unraveling the secrets of this world and surviving its countless dangers, the time arrived for our group to part ways with the Plateau. Sumerlee and I chose to stay back, bound by our love for Veronica and Abigail and by our duties to protect the Plateau. Challenger, armed with the teleportation device he had previously built, decided to take Roxton, Marguerite and himself back home.
As I close this chapter of our story, my mind goes to my friends, now carving out their lives back home. I hope they find joy and peace as they adjust to a pace different from the one we faced in the Lost World. I look forward to the day our paths cross again. Until then new adventures await us all, and I eagerly anticipate the day when we'll share our tales once more."
