Disclaimer: I don't own Fairy Tail.

Lucy's brown eyes were fixed to the sky, shining with awe.

Never had the blonde seen so many shooting stars on one night. They were passing silently overhead, leaving sparkling trials behind as they soared high over the land. How bright they were was only matched by the smile on the blonde's face. Lucy couldn't avert her gaze from them as she stood on the hilltop. The sight she was witnessing was far more enchanting than any magic the young Mage was capable of doing.

"Aren't the stars so beautiful tonight?" she murmured wistfully.

"Yeah, they sure are, Lucy!"

Lucy giggled. She was pleased to hear the company she had with her that evening agreed with the opinion she had just made. She turned towards him, the smile on her face brightly.

"I'm glad you think so, Happy," she said, beaming at the cat before looking at the boy whose shoulder he sat on. "What about you, Natsu? What d'you think of the stars?"

"Pfft!" Natsu grunted. "I can't believe you dragged me out here to see something we can see in the sky every night!"

"You're kidding?" Lucy's smile faded as she pointed towards the sky. "We don't get something like this every night, Natsu. We have nowhere near as many shooting stars like this. It's like something out of one of my books!"

"Well ya coulda just picked up your book and looked at a picture in there!" Natsu grumbled, making no effort to hide how bored he was.

"No way!" Lucy shook her head before gazing towards the sky again as she held her hands together. "An illustration in one of my books doesn't come anywhere close to this! I wanted to see it for real!"

"Well ya didn't have to drag us all the way out here!" Natsu muttered. "We could see it perfectly fine outta your apartment window!"

"You mean you and your cat could - while you were crashing in my home, uninvited, as usual!" Natsu narrowed her eyes. "I could've just thrown you guys out I came home from Fairy Tail, but I decided to take you both with me!"

"Well I'm happy to be here, Lucy!" Happy affirmed, jumping down from Natsu's shoulder to stand on all fours in the ground.

"Well I ain't," Narsu skulked. "There's extra thing si could be doing at Fairy Taik instead of wasting time here!"

"Fine!" Lucy snapped. "You go back to Fairy Tail and take your bad mood with you! I came here to look at some shooting stars, not your grumpy face!"

"Alright then!" Natsu took a step forward as he prepared to leave. "Don't you worry! I'm outta-"

Natsu's announcement that he was leaving was cut off - as he tripped over something, causing him stumble forward with a cry as he crashed into Lucy.

The blonde yelped as she was thrown off her feet. She landed onto the ground with the boy who had knocked her over - before they both started rolling down the grassy hill. They held onto each other as they descended all the way to the foot of the slope. They bowled a couple of more yards before disappearing into a flowered patch. Coloured petals were thrown up high to float gently through the air.

As he lay among the flowers, Natsu's eyes widened. The shooting stars were continuing to pass high overhead, lighting up the night sky.

He wasn't paying attention to the meteor shower above him.

His attention was instead fixed to the girl who's rolled down the hill with him - and now had her lips pressed against his.

Lucy quickly pulled away. Natsu fixed his astonished gaze onto her, taking in how she stood out in the starlight. The night's atmosphere allowed him to observe just how beautiful she was. He could see just how wonderful this girl he was lucky to have in his was - on the inside as well as the outside.

Seeing the way Natsu was looking upon her, Lucy smiled shyly down at him, she cheeks turning bright pink.

"Do you…still wanna head back to Fairy Tail?"

Natsu sat up, gazing at the beautiful, kind-hearted young lady who was had brought him out to share this amazing scene with her - and shook his head.

"No…I think I'll stick around here…as long as you're staying…"

With her eyes shining as brightly as the stars, Lucy threw her arms around Natsu. She pressed her lips against his again as he held her in his own embrace. The shooting stars continued to pass through the night sky as the young pair locked together in their love for one another.

Up on the hilltop, the kiss between the two lovers was being witnessed by the one responsible for making it happen.

"I'm glad you're pleased to be out here, Natsu!" Happy grinned, proud of himself for getting in the way of the pink-haired boy's feet and making him at rumble and roll down the hill with Lucy. "Hope you've had a nice trip!"
