Chapter 12: The New Dawn in Avalon

Avalon was a verdant paradise that echoed with a powerful life force, the air filled with the sweet scent of exotic flowers, while the sky painted a breathtaking picture of dawn. In this enchanting landscape, Veronica had immersed herself in the intense and demanding journey to become a protector. Every day was a cycle of lessons that were as enlightening as they were exhausting, grueling combat sessions that honed her strength and agility, and mental challenges that pushed her to her limits.

Meanwhile, Malone found his refuge in the written word, his mind unfolding like a blossoming flower with each passing day. Sheltered under the shadow of towering, ancient trees and inspired by the mystical landscapes of Avalon, he chronicled their journey and discoveries. Each stroke of his pen across the paper was a testament to their transformation and growth in this otherworldly place.

One morning, as the sun gently caressed the tops of the ancient trees, Veronica approached Malone, a sparkle of excitement in her eye. "Abigail has given us a free pass," she announced, her voice filled with anticipation.

Malone looked up from his writing, a curious expression on his face. "A free pass?"

Veronica nodded, unable to hide her delight. "We can go and visit the outside world. Just for a little while, of course. But it's a chance to see our friends before I return home and fulfill my role as the new protector."

"And your training?" he inquired, a slight furrow creasing his brow.

"It's part of the process." Veronica explained. "New protectors are encouraged to experience the outside world before they assume their responsibilities here. It gives us perspective, mother says."

As the morning sun warmed Avalon, casting dappled shadows and bathing the world in a soft, golden glow, Veronica and Malone sat there, enjoying the beautiful scenery. Their thoughts were brimming with plans for their upcoming journey, their hearts thumping with excitement for the experiences that awaited them. But for now, they were content just to be there, taking in the magic of Avalon, knowing that the next chapter of their journey was yet to be written.
