3. Just a Minute.

A message arrives on the screen of the Doctor's Tardis.
The Doctor glances at it. "Oh, there are a few people in an outlying location needing our assistance," the Doctor says. "We should go."
Chloe can recall no time when the Doctor didn't respond to such a call for help. His ever-open-door policy still amazes her. .
The Doctor taps plenty of buttons and pulls the dematerialisation lever...

They step out of the Tardis into a thick bush.
"We'll have to remember where the Tardis is," Chloe says as they push a way through the large shrub. She imagines a planet covered by such shrubs! .
"No, I doubt that," the Doctor says, peering through the undergrowth.
His meaning becomes clear as they step clear of the dense growth. A vast barren savannah greets their eyes; theirs is the only bush. A solitary building stands nearby.
"What's this building when it's at home?" Chloe asks.
"Maybe a store house," the Doctor guesses.
A rear door provides an obvious entry point for them. A quick tour of the sonic screwdriver opens it.

Inside there are a few people gathered near the door.
"Hello, I'm the Doctor." He smiles at the surprised group. "I've come in response to a call for help."
One of the group steps forwards. "Hello, I'm Dave. You're a bit on the late side, we're nearly surrounded. How did you get in at that door? We've been trying to open it; we're trapped!"

Chloe's noticed an issue. "When you say you're nearly surrounded, we didn't see anything outside."
"They aren't coming from over there. There are Cybermen everywhere in the other direction. A huge Cyber army! Firing at us if we show any movement! Just climb those stairs and you'll see."
"Okay, you nip out of that door, and we'll delay the Cyber army for you," Chloe says reassuringly to the few people as they leave. She's sure they can slow the army, but they can't hope for much delay.
Chloe and the Doctor climb the stairs. "Just how many Cybermen are here?" Chloe asks, viewing a vast army steadfastly marching towards them.
"Did you want to count them?" the Doctor jokes. .
"No, of course not! There must be thousands!"
"I'd say that as well," the Doctor says. "Are you going to take them all on singlehandedly? … Or do you want my help?"
He's noticed that Chloe has developed a few stratagems and would like to see her use them on a fresh enemy.
Chloe quavers. "What? Me take on thousands of fully armed Cybermen? On my own? How?"

A shot tells them the Cybermen will be entering the building in under a minute.
"I'll tell you a story if you want?" .
"What, story time now? There's two of us imminently up against thousands of Cybermen and you want to tell me a story?" .
"Have you got a minute?" .
"No, only half a minute!" .

"Then I'll begin." .
Another slightly more nearby shot tells them the Cybermen are nearing a corridor just around the corner from where they are. Sparks fly from the wall opposite the end of the corridor. "Delete. Delete!" They're certainly within audible range now!

"I once placed planet-moving equipment around a planet and each time I placed an item I went back in time by a minute before placing the next item. That way it appeared as if I placed all the equipment simultaneously." (Ref. 2.)
"So?"

The trudge of the Cybermen along the corridor becomes louder as they approach the corner.
"So, you stand behind one at the back, reach around him to his chest, twist the round protrusion on his chest to disable him, then go back to the same point in time behind the next one, and repeat. In under ten seconds you can defeat a whole army."
"How boring - repeating the same action thousands of times!"
"Can you think of a better way just now?"
"No!"
Chloe disappears before the Doctor's eyes as she activates her wristwatch transport...

A moment later, the trudge of the Cybermen stops and Chloe stands before him, exhausted. .

"You didn't have to do everything sequentially in your own timeline," the Doctor says. "You could have taken breaks!" .
Chloe rolls her eyes and collapses to the floor. .

"There will be more Cybermen in their spaceship," the Doctor reminds Chloe. "I'll tackle them!"
Chloe rolls over so she can see the Doctor from her position on the floor.
"Shall we go on holiday first?" the Doctor asks. He knows they can return to the same time and place refreshed.

"No, Doctor. I'll tackle the Cyber spaceship myself, right now!" Chloe's determined!
"Leave at least one Cyberman to tell the rest that they must surrender!"

Chloe thinks of the Cybermen's spaceship and activates her wristwatch transport ...

She's pushing herself hard!
