I decided IF I did any more fics in this series, I would wait until after Zoey 102 premiered. Make sure I kept things canon with what happened in the movie and see if they would work with what I've established in my series of fics.

Honestly, yeah, they kinda do work. But I'll let you guys be the judge.

Heads up: there may be some spoilers for Zoey 102. Read at your own risk.

"Here comes the airplane," Quinn mimicked an airplane flying as she attempted to get Ava to eat. With what appeared to be a look of disgust, Ava swatted at the oncoming spoon. "Come on, Sweetie, eat! It's good for you. See," Quinn tasted the spoonful for herself. "Wow, that actually is good." She took a few more helpings for herself.

"Hey Babe, I…" when Logan saw what she was doing, he couldn't help emitting a noise between a laugh and a scoff.

"I was making sure it was safe for Ava to eat."

"Are you sure that jar isn't from your baby food stash?"

"I thought you said you didn't care that I still ate baby food?"

"I don't care—it's adorable because it's you," he kissed her cheek, "—but you promised you wouldn't eat the food we buy for our daughter."

"I forgot how tasty pureed peas were."

"I'll have to take your word on that."

"And it's not like Ava's going to eat them!"

"Hmm," Logan put on a contemplative expression as he faced his daughter. "I think I can get her to eat them."

"Oh can you?"

"Watch and learn," Logan pulled up a kitchen chair and placed it near Ava's high chair. "Peas, please." His wife passed him the jar and he readied a spoonful. "A.J.," he got his daughter's attention. Once he had it, he opened his mouth as wide as he could, closed it, opened it again, and then closed it again. When he did it a third time, the baby opened her mouth as if she was doing what her dad was doing. This was when Logan took the opportunity to feed her the peas. "There we go; good girl, A.J."

"How did you do that?"

"I'm not entirely sure. One of the last times I fed her, I tried to get her to eat—which of course she wouldn't—so I opened my mouth a few times as a kind of demonstration, and eventually she opened hers. When I tried it again, I made sure she actually ate the food."

"Interesting."

"Another theory is she responds better when you call her A.J."

"Yeah, but only you call her that."

"It's not like it's trademarked. Plus, you pushed her out of your body; I think you've earned the right to call her whatever you want." Quinn couldn't help but let out a quick chuckle. "Here, try it," he handed the jar and spoon back to Quinn.

"You are being serious, right?" Logan gestured for her to try. "Okay," Quinn readied a spoonful of pureed peas. "A.J." Quinn got her daughter's attention. "Oh, wow, she does recognize the nickname."

"Now do the mouth thing."

Quinn opened her mouth, closed it, opened it again, closed it, and on the third instance, Ava opened her own mouth. Quinn let out some sort of squeal of delight as she fed her daughter. "It worked!"

"Told you it would."

"I am legit impressed that you knew to do that." His arrogant shrug came with a cocky head tilt. "So, Daddy…" Quinn licked her lips, "…how are you gonna get me to open my mouth?"

Logan let out a suggestive chuckle as he leaned in to kiss his wife. "Ooh," he managed to say when they pulled away to breathe, "…the pureed peas are tasty."

They resumed their makeout session until an, "Eww," pulled them apart.

"Lyric!?" Logan and Quinn were surprised to see Logan's younger sister standing in front of them.

As if to answer their question, Lyric held up a key. "I never gave you a key," Logan pointed out.

"Yeah, well you should have," Lyric countered back. "I had to borrow this from Dad, which meant I had to go Dad's place, which meant I had to deal with Chauncy JR. Ugh, he's still in love with me, it's pathetic. I miss Old Chauncy; why isn't he the butler anymore?"

"Because he died! Chauncy JR is Dad's new butler."

"Eww, gross."

"Did he or Dad also give you my entrance pin?"

"No, I figured that on my own. Zero, one, one, nine; your stupid birthday."

"And now I have to change my pin."

"Lyric," Quinn began, "hi. What uh…what brings you here?"

Lyric shrugged. "I dunno, I was bored. Thought I'd come over and play aunt or something."

"Play aunt?"

"Aww," Lyric cooed at her niece, "her little curls are like the cutest! And she's got the prettiest eyes. Shame about her nose, though." Logan resisted the urge to do harm to his sister. "This girl will totally rock the Reese charm until she gets her first nose job."

"Why are you here?!" Logan finally blurted out. "Don't you have music to write or…something that gets you away from my house?"

"Yeah, I'm not doing that anymore."

"Doing what anymore?"

"Music."

"You gave up on music?"

"Music gave up on me. The idiots in the music business just don't appreciate what I have to offer."

"Yeah, that's why," Quinn muttered under breath.

Logan considered something. "I feel like you used this same statement about acting."

"She did. She also used it for dancing, painting, creative writing, beauty school, her three-day husband, and—most memorably—college."

"Ah, yes, that made for one unforgettable birthday when she nearly gave our father a heart attack."

"It wasn't even your birthday," Lyric noted with snide, "Ooh, speaking of birthdays: you know how Ava's is in July, right?"

"No," Quinn's sarcastic response came complete with an eyeroll, "it's not like we were there or anything."

"Oh, well it's July 9th. I think it's important the baby's family should know her birthday."

"Ah-ah-ah," Logan restrained his wife, "let's just see where she's going with this before you kill her." He looked to his sister. "Lyric, does what you're saying have a point?"

"Did you know that every month has a birthstone? If you were born in July, it's a ruby. I mean, I know red isn't your color, but Ava can totally work it."

"What?! I look good in everything."

"Not red."

"Says you."

"Missing the point here!" Quinn's patience had very nearly run out.

"My point is," Lyric clapped her hands together before declaring, "I found these adorable ruby studs perfect for Ava and, if you'll let me…" Lyric took a breath for dramatic pausing, "…I wanna pierce her ears."

Quinn and Logan burst into a laughing fit. "Good one," Logan eventually spoke, "maybe you should give comedy a try," this made him and Quinn laugh even more.

"I'm serious!"

The laughing fit subsided when they noticed Lyric's expression. "Holy crap, I think she is serious."

Quinn looked up at Logan. "Can I kill her now?"

"Lyric, you are not piercing my child's ears!"

Lyric stamped her foot and began to whine. "You never let me do anything! You're the meanest brother!"

"Brother or not, I'm pretty sure I have more say so then you when it comes to what's best for my daughter!"

"She's my niece! Don't I get any say?"

"Lyric," Quinn tried to mediate, "Ava is barely four months old. She's too young to have her ears pierced."

"No she's not! A baby can get their ears pierced when they're at least three months old; I looked it up online."

"Let's try this again: Ava's ears are a part of Ava's body. Therefore, Ava has to be the one to decide whether or not she wants to do something like that to her ears. Her body, her choice."

"Okay, yeah, I totally get it now."

"And until Ava can consciously make choices like that, Logan and I decide for her because she's our child. You will not pierce her ears."

"Ugh, fine, I won't pierce her ears."

"Promise?"

"Yes!" Lyric said that a bit too dramatically.

"That means almost nothing coming from Lyric," Logan grumbled.

"It will this time."

"Will it?"

"Yes, because I promised Quinn; not you."

"Do you seriously have any reason to be here?"

"I'm here to spend time with my niece."

"Oh no. No, I know you, Lyric. You have an ulterior motive." Logan had it figured. "I bet Dad's cutting you off."

"Logan!" Quinn admonished. "That's an unfair assumption. Maybe Lyric does want to get to know her niece."

"Lyric's had four months to get to know her! She never once came to visit, or comment on how awesome our Halloween costumes were!"

"They were awesome."

"Dad's finally had enough of Lyric's sh—stuff," Logan was careful to watch his mouth around the baby, "and he's cutting her off until she gets her act together. He did the same with me when I was younger, and he's finally doing it to Lyric."

Quinn looked to her sister-in-law. "Is that what happened?"

Lyric's eyes darted every which way to avoid eye contact. "Kinda...sorta...yeah"

"Well you ain't gonna mooch off me, Little Sister," Logan told her.

"Like I'd even ask you for help! You never once supported my career endeavor!"

"You could never pick a career endeavor!"

As the Reese siblings verbally battled it out, Quinn took Ava out of her chair. "Come on, Baby." She took one more look at Logan and Lyric before telling her daughter, "It's times like this when Mama's glad she was an only child."

"This is nice," Lola noted as she and Zoey were getting pedicures. "How come we don't do this more often?"

"Because you're a movie star and I'm a glorified babysitter," Zoey jested back.

"I'm sure being Quinn's assistant comes with perks. And come on, you love Ava."

"Okay, yeah, both of those statements are true."

"You getting fired from Love Fully Charged was good for you." Lola contemplated something. "It was also good for Stacey's podcast."

"Yeah, let's not talk about me booking a murderer on a reality show. Ever again, preferably." Lola chuckled at that. "Let's talk about something else!"

"Like what?"

"Like you and Michael."

"There's nothing to tell."

"You guys have been sleeping together for the last four months!"

"Yeah, and?"

"And…what's going on between you?"

"Again: nothing to tell. We're two good friends who occasionally have sex with each other, no strings attached."

"Don't you want more?"

"With Michael? No. I'm fine with our arrangement."

"I think you two would make a great couple."

"Me and Michael? No, it'd be too weird."

"Would it though?"

"I'm seeing someone anyway."

"I thought you just ended things with that Daryl guy?"

"I did. Daryl was a good guy—super funny too—but we wanted different things. I'm seeing…someone else."

"You don't want to tell me?"

"I'm not sure how you'll react." She handed Zoey her phone. "Search my name and go to the first entertainment or gossip site you find."

Zoey did. "Does Lola Martinez Have a New Man?" She clicked the link. "Sources say actress Lola Martinez has been getting cozy with quarterback—hang on…" Zoey zoomed on a picture. "Is that…"

"Ye-ep."

"When did you get back in touch with him?"

"We were both booked as guests on separate talk shows that filmed in the same studio. We bumped into each other, got to talking, went out shortly after, and have been on a few dates since then."

"The actress and the athlete; how Hollywood."

"Vince Blake was my first love. You never forget your first. There's always going to be a special spark between us. If you get the chance to re-ignite said spark, what's the harm?"

"He's a quarterback in an entirely different state. Not to mention he's married."

"He's separated."

"Him and his wife have children together!"

"I'm gonna be honest with you: that I wasn't totally sure about. Kids are cool, I guess; but they're not for me. Like Ava. I love Ava, but I'm glad that I can just have fun with her and then give her back to her parents. That's how I like it when it comes to kids."

"Have you met Vince's kids?"

Lola shook her head no. "But from the way Vince talks about them, I kinda want to. He's such a proud dad; it's just the sweetest thing."

"I have to admit: I'm getting to a point in my life where I've been thinking about having a family."

Lola gasped. "SHUT UP!"

"Lola!"

"You should have one! You and Chase should get married and make a baby like yesterday!"

"What I just told you isn't a sure thing. It's something Chase and I need to have a serious talk about. Until then, we're fine with the way things are."

"Alright," an awkward-ish silence lingered until Lola broke it. "I still think you should let Chase knock you up."

"Yes, you've made that pointedly clear on numerous occasions."

As Zoey and Lola were in the salon, Chase and Michael were in the arcade. While they had their primary focus on their racing competition, they still made time for small talk.

"So," Chase began, "you and Lola still sleeping with each other?

"Yep," Michael answered back.

"Nice."

"So, have you decided whether or not you want kids with Zoey?"

"I haven't figured out how to have that discussion with her."

"That's cool." A pause. "I gotta say; it's great to hang out without Logan going into Dad-Mode and talking about every little thing his kid did, then constantly showing us photos."

"I know, right!"

"Even if the photos are cute."

"Ava is a photogenic child—something I feel she inherited from her father. I've actually got a few new pics to show you when we're done."

"Awesome!"

The game finally came to an end. "Dang!"

"AH-HA! VICTORIOUS!"

"Yeah, yeah," Chase gave Michael his tickets

A random child behind them cleared their throat. "Are you guys done now?" Chase and Michael held up their bucket of tokens as the kid shuffled off grumbling to themselves.

"Okay Lyric," Logan started as he entered the lounge with his wife (and daughter) following behind. "If you're serious about wanting to get to know your niece, come on; let's get to know her."

Lyric pointed to her phone. "But Tik Tok." Following an aggravated eye roll, Logan snatched his sister's phone from her grasp. "Hey!"

"Here," Quinn went over to her sister-in-law and started to pass Ava to her. "You might as well start like this," she helped adjust Lyric's hold. "She's still having a little trouble holding her head up on her own, so just remember to support it."

"Um..." Lyric looked around. "...is this all I can do with her?"

"You have to be okay with holding her before you do anything else."

Naturally, this was when Ava started to fuss. "Uh…" Lyric started to bounce Ava a little and it seemed to do the trick because it quieted her. "Hey, I think she liked that!"

"Just keep your movements gentle and easy, not too fast, not too sudden, or she'll spit up on you."

"Who knew holding a baby was so much work?"

"Lyric, have you ever held a baby before?"

"Not without it bursting into flames," Logan snark resulted in a glare from Quinn. "I'm letting her hold our baby, aren't I?"

"You know," Lyric began, "this baby holding thing isn't that bad."

"It's because you're holding a baby that's special to you," Quinn figured. "You love her and you want to be involved, and I think that's sweet."

"I think it's gonna come back to bite us in the ass," Logan remarked.

"Swear jar!"

Logan deposited a dollar into the jar. "I still stand by what I said."

"Here Lyric," Quinn led her to a part of the lounge that had been converted into a play area, "why don't you try playing with her?"

Logan's phone started to go off. "It's Dad," he said aloud before announcing. "Hey Dad, what's up?"

"Tell him I'm not here!" Lyric nearly shouted.

"Shut up…not you, Dad! I was talking to your daughter…yeah, she's here…yeah, I figured…I mean, it's probably for the best, but if it's not too much trouble, can you please get her back into an apartment, or hotel, or some place that isn't mine?"

"Please, Daddy!"

"I realize that, but I'm not gonna have her stay with me…half-sister technically…yeah, yeah, still family…okay fine I'll help, but only if you say so…yeah, what's up…uh-huh…do I have to…it's not gonna be like what happened when…okay, I'll leave soon…bye, Dad."

"Everything okay?" Quinn questioned.

"Yeah, Dad just needs me, Travis, Shawn, and James to come down to the studio for hair tests, so I'm gonna head out now."

"Ooh, the wigs arrived?"

"May as well get it over with, right? Better than them messing with my actual hair."

"When they find the wig you're gonna wear, will you send me a pic of you in it?"

"For you, I'll try."

"Thank you," Quinn picked Ava up and carried her over toward Logan. "Say bye, Daddy," she helped Ava wave goodbye to her father.

"Daddy loves you, A.J.," Logan gave his daughter a quick kiss. "Bye, Babe," a kiss to Quinn. "Later, You."

In response to her goodbye, Lyric stuck her tongue out at her brother. "Ugh, my dumb brother is the worst."

"At least he told you goodbye," Quinn pointed out as she laid the baby back down on a play mat.

"Hey, why did he call the baby that?"

"A.J? It's his nickname for her."

"Eww, why? Ava's already a cool name."

Before Quinn could explain, her phone started to ring. "It's my work," she stepped aside to answer her phone.

Lyric looked to Ava. "So…what do you like…do?" Ava looked up at her aunt. "Can you play fetch or something?" The four-month-old rolled over. "Oh, you can do tricks!"

"Lyric," Quinn hurried back into the living room, "there's a crisis at work and they need me there like right now. I know this goes against my better judgement, but Zoey and Chase aren't back yet and I need you to watch Ava until they get here."

"You're not gonna bring her with you?"

"My work site isn't exactly baby-friendly. As much as I want to bring her, I can't. If this wasn't so important, I'd have them handle it themselves, but they can't. I have to go alone."

"But what if she…does something?"

"I need you to watch her to make sure she doesn't. Zoey and Chase shouldn't be away for much longer; when they come back, they'll handle everything." Quinn quickly scooped her daughter up. "Mama loves you, Sweetheart," she peppered Ava's face with kisses before handing her off to Lyric with a quick, "You got this!" And then she was gone.

"Okay," Lyric made eye contact with her niece, "I guess it's just you and me." Ava blew a raspberry in reply. "What is that? What are you doing? Are you broken? Are you trying to throw up?" Lyric held Ava further from her as the baby blew another raspberry. "Is that some kinda baby trick?" When Lyric smiled, Ava did too. "Aww, you like me." Lyric brought the baby a little closer. "I like you too." She seemed to give the baby a quick inspection. "No joke though, you would look so precious with little ruby studs. Wouldn't you?" Ava's head bobbed forward a bit. "OMG, you totally nodded your head yes! You do want your ears pierced!" Lyric sighed. "I promised your mom I wouldn't pierce them." An idea seemed to occur to Lyric. "Wait here," she sat Ava down and pulled out her phone. "Frizzo? It's me…ugh, no not tonight…I need to call in a favor…seriously, no! I'm babysitting anyway…I am so responsible. In fact: I'm so responsible that I'm calling you…can you come over with your piercing kit…no, no, ears."

"We needed to have this discussion, you know," Zoey was talking to Chase as he drove toward the (massive) garage.

"I just don't feel comfortable," Chase expressed his opinion. "Logan's already letting us live with him, I think it may seem a bit much to ask him for one of his cars."

"He's got like twenty more, I'm sure he can spare one that works better than the car we have now."

"Would he after the whole thing with that self-driving car during the wedding weekend? You did almost hit him, Quinn, and Michael."

"Todd was driving."

"Ah Todd," Chase snickered before sarcastically adding, "great choice in fake boyfriend there."

"I thought we agreed never to speak of him again."

"You were the one who brought him up."

"Hey Chase," Zoey pointed to an unfamiliar vehicle in front of the guest house, "do we know anyone who drives…that?"

"I think the more important question is do we want to?"

Cautiously, the two of them got out of their car and headed toward the house just as a large, bald person of indeterminate gender was leaving. They gave Chase and Zoey an acknowledging wave and a "'Sup," before getting into a van decorated in flames and skulls with the name HELLMOBILE painted on the sides.

"Friend of yours, Zo?"

Zoey rolled her eyes at that quip. "Even if they were, there's no way Quinn and Logan would-"

Zoey didn't finish that thought before she and Chase raced into the house. They each blew out a collective sigh of relief when they saw Ava totally unharmed in her bouncer. "Oh, hey, what up?" This sudden voice confused Zoey and Chase until they turned around to see Lyric standing behind them.

"Oh, it's you, Lyric."

"I assume you guys are Chloe and Zane."

"Zoey and Chase."

Lyric shrugged. "Whatev. Quinn said you guys would be coming back."

"Where is Quinn anyway?" Chase questioned.

"She had some emergency work thing."

"Where's Logan?" Zoey questioned.

"He's doing a thing with our Dad at the studio."

Then Chase asked the more important, "Who was that scary looking person who just left this house?"

"Oh, that's just Frizzo."

"I feel like that is a sufficient enough answer, because I'm honestly scared to know more."

"Well I want to know what Frizzo was doing here," Zoey made an excellent point.

"Chillax," Lyric attempted to assure them, "we didn't have sex."

"I…would hope not."

"How are we even supposed to respond to that?" Chase questioned back.

"Frizzo just came over to pierce Ava's ears."

"That's…not any better."

Zoey tried to remain calm. "Frizzo did what now?"

Lyric picked Ava from her bouncer and pushed her hair back to properly show off a small ruby stud in each of her ears (eliciting dramatic gasps from Zoey and Chase) "Is it not the cutest?! The earrings totally go with this outfit."

"Chase, please tell me those are clip-ons!"

Chase gave a close inspection. "They're not."

"Oh my God!"

"Are these…" he felt an earring, "…are these real rubies?"

"Sure are," Lyric admitted with pride.

"Well Lyric, it was nice knowing you. We'll pawn those rubies to help pay for your funeral, because your brother is going to kill you."

"Sheesh, dramatic much."

"You put holes in his daughter's ears! There's no way he approved of that!"

"I seriously doubt Quinn would have approved either!" Zoey figured.

"I dunno, Quinn was more cooler about it," Lyric noted, "She said Ava has to be the one to decide whether or not she wants to do something like that to her ears; her body, her choice."

"Oh my God," Chase knew where this was going, "Lyric asked the baby if she wanted her ears pierced."

"When I did, she totally nodded her head. I mean, it was more like one nod, but it totally meant yes."

"I totally doubt that."

"I didn't do anything wrong! I did ask Ava, and she nodded."

"That still doesn't explain the weird looking bald person driving the Hellmobile!" Zoey reminded her.

"I promised Quinn I wouldn't pierce Ava's ears, so I had Frizzo pierce them. Frizzo's a total professional. Wanna see my belly button?"

"NO!" Zoey and Chase protested before Lyric could lift her shirt.

"What are we gonna do?" Zoey panicked. "How are we supposed to hide this from-"

They heard the front door shut. "I'm home!"

"-Logan!" even Chase finished that with Zoey.

"Quinn?"

"Give me the baby!" Zoey took Ava from Lyric and proceeded to brush Ava's hair over her ears (as best as she could anyway).

"Oh, hey guys," Logan greeted Zoey and Chase upon seeing them. "I see you're still here," was his way of acknowledging his sister.

"For your information," a snide Lyric began, "my presence was requested."

"By who?"

"By your wife."

"Oh yeah? Well then, where is my wife?"

"She had a work emergency. Quinn—who is way cooler than you btw—asked me to watch Ava until these two came back."

"This opens a number of unpleasant scenarios," Logan then took the baby from Zoey, "but at least my daughter looks unharmed." As he gave Ava a quick look over, something on her ear caught his eye. "Oh my God. Are these…"

"Real? For sure."

"Ava was already like that when we got back!" Zoey defended. "We had nothing to do with this."

"Lyric," if Logan was a volcano, he was clearly about to erupt, "did you pierce my four-month-old daughter's ears?"

Lyric scoffed. "No. I mean, I totally could have because I've pierced all my friend's ears before. I figured you guys would get all mad if I did it, so I had Frizzo come over and pierce her ears."

"So you had a complete stranger come into my house to put holes in my daughter's ears?"

"Frizzo's not a stranger; I slept with them twice. They're really good at piercing, but I don't think it's a good idea to show my brother where I got pierced, so you can see Frizzo's work on Ava." Lyric tucked Ava's hair behind her ears. "Doesn't it make her nose look smaller?!"

"Uh-huh," Logan passed Ava to Chase. "Can you guys take the baby out of earshot while I have some words with my sister?"

Zoey looked at Chase, who shrugged. So she decided to ask Logan, "Where should we-"

"WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU THINKING, LYRIC!?"

Zoey quickly held her hands over Ava's ears as she and Chase hurried out of the house.

It wasn't clear how much time had passed. It had certainly been enough for Logan to cool down a bit, for Lyric to run outside in tears, and for Zoey and Chase to reluctantly return inside the house with Ava.

"I don't know if this an appropriate time," Chase began, "but the earrings do look cute on her." The look Logan gave him indicated that it was definitely not an appropriate time. "I don't know why I thought that would help."

"We couldn't help but catch some of that…conversation," Zoey started. "I don't know if it's my place to say-"

"Probably not," Logan interrupted.

"-but it sounds like there are some other issues besides Lyric going against your wishes. Maybe it's best you and her talk them out."

"Talking to Lyric is the last thing I want to do."

"She's still your sister."

"Half-sister."

"You can't hide behind that term when she does something you don't like. She is your sister. Period. And right now, your sister is upset."

"Boo-hoo."

"Logan."

"I'm not going to apologize for telling her she couldn't do something."

"Then don't apologize. Just talk to her."

Logan gave a sigh of acquiesce. "Fine, but I don't know what good it will do."

"You think them talking is going to help?" Chase asked Zoey when Logan had left.

"It's worth a try," Zoey told him. "They're brother and sister. They're always goin' to be in each other's life, whether they like it or not."

"You do realize I'm not gonna talk to Logan about a car today?"

"Please stop trying to diffuse the tension with your poorly-timed humor."

An upset Lyric was sitting outside soaking her feet in the (recently renovated) hot tub when Logan came up behind her. "Can I join you?" Lyric scooted away from him. "Well, it's my hot tub so…" he took off his shoes and dipped his feet in the water. "We're gonna have to talk eventually." Lyric scoffed at that notion. "You and I both know this."

"Yeah, I know."

"I guess I'll start," Logan decided. "First off: I'm not going to apologize for getting mad at you. I told you not to do something, and yet, you did it anyway."

"I know that too."

"So, why'd you do it?"

Lyric shrugged. "I dunno."

"I'm actually making an effort here, Lyric; you could do the same."

"Seriously Logan, I don't know why I did what I did! I just thought it was a really good idea."

"That's the thing about us Reeses: when we're set on something, we go for it. Consequences be damned."

"What if what we're set on isn't really the right thing?"

"Well we don't care about that at the time, do we?" Lyric couldn't help but let out a small chuckle. "I think we've got some things we need to work out."

"Like what?"

"Like how when I tell you 'no' in regards to something about my child: it means no."

"Ugh, you're such a dad now."

"I am a dad now."

"Yeah, but it's still so weird."

"I'm sure it wouldn't be if you had any kind of involvement with us in last few months."

"I wanted to!"

"So why didn't you?"

"I didn't think I was ready! I want to make a good impression on Ava."

"You do?"

"Logan, I know I'm a mess. I wanted to try to get my shit together before I met her, but I even manage to screw that up." Lyric sighed. "I just don't want my own niece to be ashamed of me."

"The good news is there's still hope for you." Lyric cocked a quizzical brow. "A.J. is still too young to form opinions on people. Basically, if you show up on more than one occasion and spend time with her, she'll like you."

"She will?"

"And you don't even have to try so hard. There's not much she can do anyway. All I ask is that when I tell you not to do something in regards my child, don't do it. As her parents: Quinn and I have to be the ones to have final say in what's best for her."

"Quinn is gonna kill me, isn't she?"

"I would not be surprised if she does. She trusted you to watch over something very important, and you did something you promised her you wouldn't do."

"I don't know why I do that. Why do I have to fuck everything up when someone trusts me with something?"

"Honestly Lyric, that's something you have to figure out for yourself."

"I have a lot to figure out for myself, don't I?"

"Kinda, yeah." Lyric rolled her eyes, "but as your brother: I'm here whenever you need me."

"Thank you, Logan," Lyric gave her brother a quick hug.

"I'm still pissed at you though."

"Understandable."

"But I have to admit: it was clever how you found a loophole in what we told you not to do. I always said you'd make a good lawyer."

"Ew, gross."

"You wouldn't know unless you gave it a try."

"And then give it up shortly after like I do with everything else?"

"It may surprise you."

"You really think I have the potential to be a lawyer?"

"You always were good at arguing." While Lyric contemplated that, Logan told her, "Actually, maybe you shouldn't go into law."

"Ugh, says you." Logan smirked to himself. "Do you want Ava to be a lawyer?"

"If that's what she wants to do. I honestly don't want to think that far ahead. I'm going to enjoy A.J. being this little while I still can."

"Hey, why do you call her A.J? How do you get that from Ava?"

"Her full name is Ava Jane; which start with 'A' and 'J'."

"Okay, that makes so much more sense."

"How did you not pick up on that? I used to do that with you all the time?"

"You did?"

"Remember, I called you 'L.C.' because your name is Lyric Cynthia."

"You were calling me the letters L.C.? I thought you were calling me like the name Elsie."

"If so, why didn't you say anything? You still let me call you that for the longest time."

"I thought it was like your special name for me. I even thought about legally changing my name to Elsie."

"Why? Lyric is such a cool name."

"It took me a long time to think it was cool. Granted, it doesn't really go with Cynthia."

"Yeah, but Cynthia's a better middle name than Roland."

"Ew, Roland?"

"Yeah, I know, it's kinda hard to make that sound cool."

"For the longest time, I hated my name. Sometimes I still do; mostly because of my mother."

"Your mother was a little…" Logan tried to find a not-so-insulting term, "…out there?"

"Ugh, my mother is the worst."

"Yeah, she kinda was."

"Still is. You know, she didn't even like it when I called her 'Mom', she always wanted me to call her 'Melody'. It's like the whole reason for my name was to match with hers."

"You would have been called Lyric even if you were born male."

"I mean, I'm glad I have gender-neutral name, but I wish it was always more normal sounding like yours. Ugh, why did Melody have to be so weird."

"I'd say she was more free-spirited; like her daughter."

"Please never compare me to Melody."

"Melody was definitely the weirdest of my stepmoms. I always wondered why Dad married her."

"Because he got her pregnant."

"Ah."

"So it was your mom, my mom, then…Norah?" Logan nodded. "Norah, Alison, and finally Lori."

"I wish he would've met Lori sooner, she's the best."

"Lori is so much better than my actual mother."

"She's definitely my favorite stepmom."

"Can I tell you something?" Logan nodded. "I know she died before I was even born, but I really wish Cynthia was my mom." Logan didn't say anything. "Has it been a while since you talked about her?"

"Yeah, it really has." Logan blew out a breath. "Sometimes it's just easy not to bring her up."

"That's not always healthy."

"It's like the memories are too painful, but…" Logan was trying not to cry, "…but at the same time, if I don't think of her, I'm afraid I'll forget her."

"Oh, Logan…" Lyric trailed off unsure of what to say.

"It's getting harder and harder to remember my own mother. She's been gone since I was six years old and…" Lyric wrapped her arm around her brother's shoulder when he did start to cry. "It's not fair all that she's missed! She never saw me grow up, she wasn't there when I graduated—or to see any of my accomplishments—she's never met Quinn, she wasn't there when I got married, or started a family of my own! For God's sake, my mother will never meet her granddaughter!"

Lyric allowed her brother to have a moment before waiting to speak up. "I'm kinda sorry I have her name, but it was Dad's choice." Logan took a minute to try and compose himself. "Dad really loved Cynthia. Melody would tell me it felt like he always compared her to someone she just couldn't live up to as a mother."

"My mother really was the best."

"Yeah, but she gave you the middle name Roland. Does that count as a drawback?"

"It's not the greatest, but it was her maiden name. Cynthia Roland-Reese," it seemed it had been the first time in a long time Logan had spoken his mother's name.

"I never knew that."

"I don't really expect you to know anything about her."

"I do know when you got really sad you would always look at her picture. She was really pretty."

"Wasn't she?"

"You look so much like her. And because Ava looks so much like you, she'll look like Cynthia. Therefore, it will be harder for you to forget your mom."

"That's actually really nice to hear. Thanks, Sis."

"Anytime, Bro." A pause. "Are we having a bonding moment thing?"

"Yep."

"Huh. It's weird."

"Yep."

"OH MY GOD!" they heard from inside the house.

"Sounds like Quinn's home."

This was confirmed when they heard Quinn yell, "I AM GOING TO KILL HER!"

Brother and Sister each made a similar "oh shit" face before taking off in separate directions.

I know we know these characters' personalities and interests, but there's also so much more we don't know. Like Logan's mother. Why isn't she mentioned? Why does he have confirmed multiple stepmothers? Because all of this is open to interpretation, I decided to interpret it. What about Logan's relationship with his sister? When it comes to Logan and Lyric, there's clearly an age gap and they don't seem like they'd pass as siblings unless they had at least one different parent (though that's MY opinion). Plus I think having a sort of trauma like an unexpected death of a parent can also play a negative factor in one's life and something like that could contribute to why Logan was a jerk in his younger days. I dunno, but I needed to fill story and I felt it even helped improve the brother/sister bond.

While Chauncy was still alive at the time of the wedding, I killed him off in my second fic. Keeping canon with my fics: if he were to die after the wedding but BEFORE Quinn reached the twentieth week of pregnancy, he would had to have passed in January or February. I also said he died on Logan's birthday. So I thought it would be fun if Logan's birthday was the same day as Erin Sanders'—and if it comes up in the future, Quinn's would be on Matthew Underwood's birthday—because there's no confirmed birthdays (except for Chase's, which is October 5).

And yes, I kinda took a plot point from a season 10 episode of FRIENDS.

I didn't expect to have add any more to this series, but I'm glad I did. I hope you guys are too. Thanks for reading. Peace out!
