*CRASH*

Most of the chefs in the kitchen looked up at the sudden noise, but when there was no follow up they returned to their cooking with little more than some curious mumbling. Recognizing the sound as a cannonball crashing into the restaurant (something he heard far to often in his opinion), Sanji took a long drag of his cigarette as he put the finishing touches on his plate. Turning to hand it and a few others to the waiter, Sanji gave them a concerned look.

"Sounds like trouble out there. Do you think you'll be able to handle it, or do you need me to come out there with you?"

"The 'trouble' shouldn't be an issue. If I heard right, it was actually a marine ship attacking a pirate ship, only for the pirates to deflect it at us by mistake. In fact, I believe, yes, it sounds like Zeff is talking to the captain of the pirates, who is apologizing for the damage." Replied said waiter in that, unique way of his.

Said waiter is not the kind of person one would expect to be a waiter. In fact, some would claim he wasn't a 'person' at all. Rather than a human, he was a large brown dog, closely resembling a mastiff, only much larger. He also had a somewhat metallic looking yellow crown like piece above his eyes, with red spiked pieces acting almost as side burns and a white piece somewhat akin to a moustache on his face as well. On top of that, he had spiky white objects coming out of his back that almost looked like wings, a large white tuff of cloudy hair going through them, and all four of his legs had metal cuffs on them. To finish his look, he was wearing a black collar with a red bowtie and a notepad full of paper on it. This, was Entei.

Entei then picked up the tray of food he was being handed and began to walk out, only to shoot a look at Sanji.

"The 'trouble' isn't why I need help. The restaurant is pretty full right now, and as much as I know you hate being a waiter, we both know that you're the only one of the chefs who can actually deal with the customers. No matter how much Patty has deluded himself into thinking otherwise."

Sanji let out a groan as Entei walked out of the kitchen, taking off his apron as he reluctantly switched into waiter mode. Taking a moment to compose himself for dealing with the annoying bastards out there, and to hold back his desire to seduce all the lovely ladies, he found his mind going back to the unique way Entei 'talked'.

'It's not in my mind or anything, I have to hear it to listen, but it's still just barking. It's like he forces me to understand what he's saying, and for some reason it only works on me and the old man. Fun as it is to have something to hold over the rest of them, it would make things a lot easier if everyone could understand him.'

"Despite that unexpected interruption by those foolish pirates, I would say our date is starting off rather well." Iron Fist Fullbody said as he pulled out the chair for his date. Said woman let out a giggle as she sat down and grabbed the glass of wine already prepared for her, with Fullbody going to do the same.

"Mmmm, delightful. A delicate bouquet from… the north, the island of Mikkyuo. Lightly acidic, full-bodied and dry, this must be Iturutsubulga Stein! Am I correct wai-ter?"

Fullbody jumped from proud to confused as he saw Entei approach. The beast lightly shook his head as he placed their soups in front of them, before grabbing one of the papers from his notepad with his teeth and blew it away with a fiery huff. The paper landed neatly in front of Fullbody, now with words burnt on to the page, and the man red it out loud.

"No, we ran out of that yesterday. This is Semillon, from the island of Canberra in the south."

As he read the paper, his date, along with a good portion of the room, began chuckling at him. Fullbody's teeth ground in anger as he balled up the paper and not so subtly threw it at Entei before he forced a smile onto his face and looked at his date.

"I'm sure that this animal has no idea what he's talking about. That message was likely for someone else and it gave us the wrong one. Honestly though, what kind of restaurant employs animals like this? Were it not for the fact that we already have our food, I would be insisting we dine somewhere with more class. Now, go on then, get, go back to your master and let us eat in peace you mangy thing."

Fullbody said as he aggressively waved off Entei, not so subtly hitting him with his iron knuckles as he did. In response, Entei simply gave him a flat look before grabbing another piece of paper and sending it off with a fiery huff, this one landing in front of the woman, who read it to herself rather than out loud.

"Enjoy your meal. P.S. You could do so much better."

The woman let out another giggle before giving Entei a pat on the head.

"I will, perhaps to both things. Thank you."

Entei nodded his head and began to walk back to the kitchen to get his next delivery, only to be stopped as Sanji approached with an unfamiliar person in a straw hat.

"Entei, wait up a moment, I need to introdu-"

"SO COOL!" Luffy interrupted Sanji as Entei suddenly found himself being grabbed onto by the rubber man.

"You're a really big dog, I've never seen one like you! That stuff on your face is really cool, it looks like you've got a moustache!"

"OI! Get off him you idiot!" Sanji said as he roughly pulled the rubber boy off the surprised Entei.

"Right now, this 'dog' is your superior, get it. This is Entei, and you're going to do whatever he tells you to do. Entei, this is Luffy, the pirate that hit us with a cannonball. He's going to be working for us as a chore boy for the next year to make up for it."

Entei nodded and sent a piece of paper at Luffy.

"Nice to meet you."

This only seemed to amaze Luffy even more as he looked at Entei with stars in his eyes.

"You can write with fire breath, that's so cool! But why don't you bark like a normal dog?"

Entei let out a huff and Sanji rolled his eyes.

"Because you wouldn't be able to understand me if I did."

"Huh? What do you mean I wouldn't be able to understand you?"

Both Sanji and Entei blinked at Luffy's response.

"Wait, you understood him?"

"Yeah? Why?"

Both Sanji and Entei looked at Luffy baffled. In response, Luffy looked at them confused before putting a fist in his hand.

"Ah, I get it. Entei is one of those special animals that only certain people can hear, like Rayquaza."

This only made Sanji even more confused, but Entei perked right up at the name.

"You know Rayquaza!?"

Luffy looked at Entei with a bright smile before laughing.

"Shishishi, of course I do. I promised to meet him at the start of the grand line after I set off to become King of the Pirates."

Entei just looked at the rubber boy in amazement before shaking his head and walking into the kitchen.

"Well then, you certainly sound like an interesting man Luffy. I look forward to watching you work. Now come on, time for me to teach you what you're doing here."

And watch Entei did. He watched as the rest of Luffy's distinct and colorful crew arrived on the restaurant and talked with him, watched as he became the worst chore boy in the history of the job, and watched him somehow worm his way into Sanji's heart in merely a few hours (despite the blonde's insistence otherwise). He watched as Luffy refused to laugh at Sanji's dream, and even seemed to admire it. He watched as Luffy didn't hesitate to protect the restaurant when Don Creig attacked. He watched as Luffy watched his first mate start a fight he couldn't win, but let it happen and didn't interfere until it was done.

He watched as the whole restaurant was attacked, dealing with the riffraff and the bastard that took Zeff hostage, but stood back as Luffy and Sanji really saved the day. He watched as Sanji nearly let Luffy drown because he didn't realize the boy couldn't swim. ("I forgot Devil fruit eaters couldn't swim, you cant blame me for forgetting that considering I thought they were a myth!" "He was in a NET! He couldn't swim anyways, devil fruit or not!") And finally, he watched as Zeff pushed Sanji to chase his dream, a dream that Luffy could surely help him achieve, then watched as the pair sailed away on the supply boat with one half of the bounty hunter pair they arrived with in tow.

Once the ship had sailed over the horizon, and everyone but Entei and Zeff had gone back inside to work, Entei turned to the head chef.

"Chef Zeff, I-"

"You're heading off after him, aren't ya."

Entei nodded.

"I plan to, yes. I have to meet some people first, but I will be meeting him and his new crew at the start of the grand line."

"At the start of the Line huh? Sure you're not betting on them a bit too quickly?"

"Chef, if you saw the same man I did, and I know you did, then there is no question that they will make it there very soon."

"Ahahaha, right you are Entei. Guess I'm just trying to convince the only waiter that can handle this place to stay. Those kids are definitely going to make it far, and you're going to be there with em. Now, go on, get out of here while I'm still out of tears! You don't want to make my cry myself to death do ya!" Zeff said with fresh tears in his eyes.

Entei let out a bark of laughter at Zeff's words, even as tears began rolling down his face as well. Bounding off the deck of the ship and across the water, Entei spared one last look at the Baratie before leaving to go find his fellow pokemon. As he ran though, he couldn't help but think about how he first came to know the pair of chefs, and how his first few months in this new world was spent.

Entei groaned in exhaustion and pain as he laid on the deck of the ship, unsure of what would happen to him. The last thing he remembered was how some strange human, or someone he though was human, had managed to capture Palkia, Giratina, and Deoxys on the human made land of Pasio. The human had somehow hooked the three of them up to a machine that did who knows what, and fearing the worst, Rayquaza had gotten Hoopa to bring together all the divines (or as the humans called them, legendries and mythics) to stop this mad man. Unfortunately, things didn't go well for anyone as the machine somehow absorbed Hoopa before exploding, and the next thing he knew he was falling into the ocean only to be pulled out by what seemed to be a pirate crew.

Entei didn't know if he was being rescued or taken prisoner. Nor did the pirate crew it seemed, considering their conversation seemed to be jumping around between figuring out what he eats, and if they should eat him.

Eventually, a man who Entei could only guess was the crew's captain ended the argument, telling his crew to leave him be for now as their target had just arrived. Entei then watched as the crew ran about in preparation to raid said target, but Entei found himself interested in the clouds gathering above them. The storm looked like it was going to be bad.

The storm was bad, and if Entei were in any sort of shape to do anything, he would be doing his best to save all the humans he could. Unfortunately, he wasn't even in the shape to save himself, so he could only watch on in horror as the ship broke apart beneath him and dropped him into the ocean. Realizing there was nothing he could do to save himself, Entei simply accepted his fate.

'Death huh, I hadn't even considered the possibility that I could die since I met Ho-oh in the tower. But now here I am, dying not in a blaze like the first time, but as a result of the very thing that saved me so I could meet Ho-oh last time. How ironic.'

With that, Entei closed his eyes and let unconsciousness overtake him, not noticing the hand that came down to grab him.

"And what are we supposed to do with this thing?! It's a whole animal! We can't eat it like this, we don't have any knives to skin it or any fire to cook it!"

Entei woke up very painfully to an even more painful screaming in his ear.

"It doesn't matter. Food is food, and if we're going to last long enough to get saved, then we need every scrap of it, so figure it out."

"I would rather you not eat me actually." Entei growled. "I already survived something that should have killed me twice, and I would rather not tempt a third so soon."

Opening his eyes, Entei saw an older man that he vaguely recognized as the captain of the pirates that pulled him out of the sea, and a young boy in a chef's outfit that almost looked like he could be the captain's son, both staring at him in shock.

"You can talk?!" The boy exclaimed.

"In a sense." Was Entei's reply.

"If you can talk, then why didn't you back on the ship?" the captain asked, and Entei would have shrugged if he had the energy to.

"Didn't think I needed to, to tired to want to. Still am, but now I need to. Where are we?"

The captain sighed. "Well, whatever, I've heard of stranger. To answer your question, nowhere. We're on a random rock too far away from any island to see, and it's too tall and smooth for us to climb up and down it for anything. We also haven't got anything to let us call for help, so you're trapped here with us till we get help from some boat coming out here in the middle of nowhere."

"I see, in that case I will sleep for the time being. Wake me up when something happens."

They did not wake him up when something happened. Or rather, nothing ended up happening. Days went by as the trio sat on that rock, far longer that Entei had expected, and before he knew it, Entei began experiencing two very unexpected phenomena. Boredom and hunger.

Hunger was not something Entei was terribly familiar with. Even before he met Ho-oh and transformed, he had always been a very good hunter and gatherer. He knew hunger, but he never really was without food for much longer than he ever wanted. Then after being transformed, he found he didn't need to eat nearly as much, despite his larger form. Instead, Ho-oh's power seemed to sustain him in his new form, and food became more of a source of entertainment than a necessity. However, whatever happened to him to bring him here, it seemed to have completely sapped him of strength. He felt even weaker than he did before his transformation. As a result, it seemed, he needed food to replenish his strength, and there was absolutely nothing he could eat without killing his two companions. So, Entei learned what it meant to starve.

As for boredom, that was more familiar, but no more pleasant. While he did get bored on occasion, he had a whole world he could travel to stave it off when things got stale. He didn't have this option now, so he was instead forced to communicate with his rock mates to deal with it. The captain was far from a conversationalist, wanting to avoid the waste of energy talking would be. Despite this, Entei found himself growing a strange sort of kinship with the man.

The boy on the other hand, was far chattier, but also very angry. Entei wasn't sure what happened to him, the boy refused to speak on his past beyond the ship he was just working on (that Zeff's crew was apparently targeting), but it was clear it left him with heavy scars on his heart. Still the boy was the best company he had, and a friendship was born between the pair.

As the days went by, Entei's count lost to the infinite boredom, he felt his rock mates and himself grow weaker. The captain eventually talked about his dream, of a magical sea known as the all blue, and then of his goal, to own a floating restaurant that could go wherever it pleased. This confused Entei as he had assumed that, outside of Alola, most human cities were all landlocked. This confusion was expressed, which let to his rock mates being confused, which lead to a conversation about the nature of the world, and Entei could only laugh at the absurdity of it all.

'I somehow wind up in another world, and the first things I do are nearly drown twice, then starve to death when I didn't know I could. I don't know if this is so pathetic it's funny, or just plain pathetic.'

After some time, and a confrontation between Zeff and Sanji that Entei slept through, the trio was saved by passing merchant ship. From there, the trio went on to fulfill Zeff's dream of opening a sea restaurant, Entei staying with them far more than he expected he would. Entei also found himself to be far weaker than he had been back in his world. It took him about a year to gain enough strength that he felt comfortable enough to go look for his fellow pokemon. Once he did, it didn't take long for him to find some of them, only to disappointingly learn that no one had any ideas on how to get home.

Despite finding his fellow pokemon, Entei found himself primarily staying with Zeff and Sanji at the Baratie, finding the life of a waiter oddly soothing. But, in the back of his mind, he knew that one day things would change.

Entei shook himself out of his reminiscing, now wasn't the time for that. Bounding over the water to his destination, a small island on the grand line where he knew Rayquaza favoured staying, he knew it was time for things to change. He also now knew why Rayquaza decided to stay there, and he couldn't help but be eager to share the news the serpent was likely waiting for.

Coming up on the island, Entei quickly spied Rayquaza, along with a handful of his other fellow pokemon, and something told him that fate meant them all to be here today to hear the news of these strange pirates.

Well, that's that. I call this story my first impulse write, as outside of a few small details, I really didn't make any plans for this thing. Heck, the first draft to this story was basically written in a day, way shorter than any of my other stories. I just read a story with a similar premise, liked it enough that I wanted to take my own crack at it, and started writing.

This story is going to be outside of my usual schedule, more of something I'm going to write just when I randomly feel like it. Sort of a thing to help deal with writers block on my other stories, or just whenever the desire strikes.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed
