The Matter at Hand

The Heroes of Millennia were assembled together in their secret headquarters hidden in the Secret Garden. Kaiba decided it was time for another meeting to come into order. As usual, he started off by thanking his friends for coming over. Once done, he decided to get to the point. "Why are we here?" he asked his friends.

Joey had a guess. "We're here to have a meeting based on confidential hero business?"

The brunette decided to be more specific. "What I mean is, what is the purpose of our mission?"

This time, Yugi spoke up. "To find and gather the shards of the Cobalt Star."

Kaiba gave a nod, accepting his response. "Precisely," he replied. "Although I'm sure that you've all noticed that we haven't been coveting any of the remaining Cobalt Star shards lately."

It was true. Several weeks had passed since the heroes acquired their last shard of the Cobalt Star. They had discovered some new worlds with the help of their friends, but those worlds were under the threat of a different kind of enemy: the Four Dark Masters.

At that moment, the heroes had taken a minor detour in the mission so they could take on the Dark Masters and their minions and prevent them from bringing about destruction in their worlds. Going to those worlds has been helpful to Yugi and his friends because they've still been making new friends and allies as well as learning more about themselves. Even so, they were still anxious to know when they were going to covet their next Cobalt Star shard.

As the heroes discussed the matter, Emily figured, "Maybe we just haven't been ready." To explain what she means, she tells her friends, "Think of it this way; maybe taking on the Dark Masters and their lackeys has been preparing us for when we have to face our new enemies – whom we were warned would be stronger than our other enemies we've battled in the past."

The boys gave it some thought. It did seem to make sense. After all, the Great Goddess did inform her heroes that each new adventure would prove to be more challenging than the previous and each new enemy would prove to be more stringer than the last.

"When you put it that way," Joey was saying, "I guess that makes sense. We sort of did need a break from finding those shards and saving those worlds."

Yugi agreed. "We've been able to spend more time with our friends back home in our world and in the other worlds too. And it's also been just as good for them that they've also been able to go to different worlds because now they can help us out too."

"Be that as it may," Kaiba was saying, "I think we've been laid back enough." It wasn't that he didn't mind being able to relax and take a break from being a hero nor did he mind the practice for when the time would come for when he and his friends would have to face a more dangerous enemy. Patience just wasn't one of the brunette's best qualities.

"We're not exactly being lazy about anything, Kaiba," Emily argued. "I'm sure that once the Great Goddess decides when we're ready, she'll open a door to a new world with a Cobalt Star shard."

"Though I don't blame you for being impatient," Yugi told him. "You want a challenge and you want to get back into the game."

Kaiba softened up a little. He was glad that Yugi understood him. "I really have been impatient lately," he admitted. "Like you said, it's nice to take a break once in a while, but at one point, you start to want something new and exciting."

Joey agreed. "Even I'm ready for a new adventure."

"Let's try to wait a little while longer," Yugi suggested. "If a door to a new world doesn't appear soon, then how's about we go to a world we haven't visited in a while?"

His friends agreed. With that being settled, they decided to end the meeting and return home to their world.
