The More, the Merrier

Link was a young boy who lived in a cottage in the forest with his grandfather, who was a royal smith. Link often helped his grandfather forge swords and other kinds of weapons for the royal soldiers, but he was also training to be a swordsman. Today his class received and announcement that the festival in town would having a martial arts tournament. Link was eager to compete, but his master wouldn't allow him to take part in the tournament. Although Link was skilled, he lacked discipline. As such, his teacher decided that he was not ready.

Frustrated, Link left the dojo grumbling and complaining. To him, it wasn't fair. He had been looking forward to competing in the tournament and said it was what he had been training for. He was snapped out of his frustration as he heard the familiar voice of Princess Zelda. "Link, there you are."

"Princess Zelda?" he asked. He wasn't entirely surprised to see her. She would often sneak out of the palace to visit him. Needless to say, the two of them were close friends. What actually did surprise Link was seeing the group accompanying her. "Who are you guys?"

"These are my new friends," Zelda answered. "I happened to meet them as I was looking for you."

"So you're Link," Yugi said. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Yugi." And he held out his hand. Just to be polite, Link shook his hand. He also shook hands with the others.

"Link, you won't believe this, but Yugi and the others are warriors of Millennia," Zelda told him.

The young boy's eyes widened. "Are you serious?" He had been told stories about the Children of Millennia and the age of the Shadow Games many times before when he had visited Zelda at the castle. Even his grandfather would tell him stories as well.

"Max is actually a warrior of the Dark Lord," Zelda added, "but she's also a friend."

Link wasn't sure how to take that. Thankfully, Zelda reminded him about how Max stopped fighting the royal Egyptian family and tried to help them save their kingdom. Link actually did remember that part. As such, he decided to give Max a chance and welcome her as a friend.

The Hyulean princess then remembered her purpose for looking for Link. "Come on, Link. The festival is today. Let's go together," she said eagerly.

But Link wasn't in the mood. He didn't want to go to the festival because he was still too upset about not being able to compete in the tournament. But he also knew that they Hyrulean princess wouldn't take 'no' for an answer. At the same time, he figured that maybe hanging out with Zelda and the others would cheer him up. So he forced a pleasant smile and agreed to come along. With that being settled, everyone headed to the castle town.
