Notes: This will be a continuation of the previous drabble.
September 15, 1998
Everyone was currently sitting on the couch in the campus. Jay was cooing Leia's stomach. Sarah and Nate were cuddling. Ozzie and Gwen were in the middle of a long conversation. Nikki headed over to the couch area and sat next to Sarah. "Hey! My mom just FaceTimed me. She tells me to say that Julie says hello." Sarah chuckled, "I miss that cute little pug!"
Right then, they all heard a noise behind them. "What the fuck!" Nate exclaimed. One of the teachers walked right in front of them. "Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that yesterday I found out there was a 90% chance we'd get snowed in so sorry for anyone that planning on going out. You can't." The students and some of the teachers groaned. Nate raised an eyebrow, "Snowing in September? That doesn't make any sense." The teacher scoffed, "Well it also doesn't make sense why my wife left me, does it?"
After he left, Jay and Leia got up. "Where are you guys going?" Gwen asked. "We're going to the doctor." Jay answered. Leia smiled, "We're going to find out the gender of our babies!" They both waved goodbye and walked away. Ozzie looked at his watch, "I've gotta go. I need to be anywhere but here." He walked away right then. Sarah noticed Nikki and Gwen staring at each other and smiled. "Uh Natey, weren't we gonna watch that…movie today?" Nate looked confused but smiled when realizing what his girlfriend was trying to do.
"Yeah babe. We do have that movie we need to watch." Nikki leaned towards Sarah, "What are you doing? Please don't tell me you're playing matchmaker." Sarah smiled innocently, "I'm not playing matchmaker." Nikki whispered, "Gwen clearly doesn't love me anymore so there's no point." Sarah scoffed, "Yeah and I think Ryland Barnes is hot." She and Nate got up, "We'll see you guys later." The couple walked away, leaving the exes alone.
Gwen sighed, "So I guess it's just us…" Nikki nodded, "Yeah." It hurt, being around Gwen like this. She tried to remind herself that what happened last night was for the best.
Nikki and Gwen were just laying in bed right after Leia left. Gwen looked at Nikki and stroked her cheeks. "You love me?" Nikki sighed and looked down. She didn't mean to say that out loud. After all, this was just sex. They weren't in a relationship anymore. And they broke up for a reason.
"Do you love me?" Nikki asked. Before Gwen could answer, her phone rang. "Just a second." She grabbed her phone and pressed the green button. "Hey grandpa!" Nikki watched as Gwen was talking to her grandpa. She looked so happy and this was probably making her feel worse. Nikki didn't want that for her. She wanted Gwen to be happy.
Nikki wiped her tears and put on her clothes right before walking out the door. She sobbed against the wall, letting out all the pain she was feeling over Gwen.
"Nikki?" She shook her head looked at Gwen. Nikki could help but stare into her gorgeous emerald green eyes. The same ones she fell in love with years ago. "Yeah." Gwen moved closer to her. She couldn't help but admire how long and curly her hair was. And the way her lips were so full and soft. Her heart only broke more remembering what happened last light.
Gwen smiled, "How are the twins doing?" W.B. chuckled, "They're better than ever. Reggie drew me a horse and a cat. And Kat tried to make a play dough statue of me." Gwen laughed, "Awww that's so sweet." W.B. chuckled, "That's all I wanted to tell you. Sorry to disturb you." Gwen shook her head, "Don't be. You didn't disturb me at all. Thank you." They both hung up. Gwen put her phone on the nightstand. "Nikki, I-" Gwen stopped when she saw that her lover wasn't there. She shook her head. Maybe she's in the bathroom.
Right then, the door opened and Leia walked in. She put a hand over her eyes right then. Gwen sighed, "I'm covered up, its fine." Leia removed her hand, "Oh yeah, Nikki left the party. I forgot. Pregnancy brain." Gwen shook her head, "Wait what?" She thought that Nikki was in the bathroom. Leia put a hand on her mouth in shock. "M-Maybe I might've seen someone else. Like I said, pregnancy brain." Gwen began to cry right then, prompting Leia to pull her into a hug.
"Gwen?" Nikki called. Gwen looked at Nikki right then. "Why did you leave me?" She asked, tears falling from her eyes. Nikki sighed solemnly, holding back her own tears. She hated seeing Gwen cry and just wanted to see her smile. But lately it seems like all she's doing is making her sad. "I thought you deserved better than what this is. I just want you to be happy."
Anger began to flood into Gwen's veins, making her get up and face Nikki. "You think I'm happy without you? You think this was I wanted for us? No, I wanted you with me. I wanted us to work out. Fuck, Nikki. I love you. And I know you still love me." She let out the tears from her eyes and started to sob. Nikki began to cry as well and just pulled her into a hug. They began to sob into each other's arms. Nikki looked at Gwen and wiped away her tears right before kissing her. Gwen stroked Nikki's cheeks with her thumbs while Nikki had a tight grip on Gwen's waist.
They both let their foreheads touch and exhaled deeply. "We'll work this out. We'll schedule times to be around each other, set up dates, have lunch together. We can do this." Nikki whispered. Gwen nodded, "Yeah we can." She kissed Nikki again before letting their foreheads touch. "I love you Nikki." Nikki sighed, "I love you too Gwen." Maybe being snowed in wasn't so bad after all.
