Growing Family
"…what?"
"Natsu, I'm pregnant." Natsu blinked a few times, not really sure what he should say next, as his mind was racing a million miles a minute. Looking at Lucy's calm and composed demeanor, it looked like she had rehearsed this announcement to him for a good while. Natsu had noticed that Lucy had taken fewer and fewer jobs, and used less and less magic these past few weeks. Natsu may have been an airhead, but even he knew that using too much magic while pregnant was dangerous.
"…you're sure?" Lucy, despite trying to keep her serious expression on her face, couldn't help but laugh at the very…Natsu-like reaction he responded with.
"I've checked three times, Natsu, and I'm sure; I'm pregnant. Like you have good hearing, couldn't you hear the baby?" Lucy asked, patting her slightly extended stomach, which Natsu looked at with wide eyes as if he just noticed that.
"Well, I thought I heard something, but I don't really know what they sound like," Natsu stammered out, scratching the back of his head. Lucy couldn't help but laugh at her fiancé's naivety but was able to calm herself down so she could walk up to him and embrace him.
"So…how're you feeling?"
"How am I feeling? I'm feeling amazing! I can't believe I'm gonna have a kid!" Natsu cheered, shooting both of his fists in the air, even breathing a small amount of fire from his mouth. Lucy couldn't help but feel elated at the news, as despite knowing and loving Natsu, there was a small sliver of doubt that told her Natsu wouldn't be happy about the child and leave her. But she was thankful that that small bit of doubt had been washed away as she ran over to Natsu and joined him in a hug. Natsu then picked Lucy up and peppered her cheek and face with kisses before setting her down on the bed.
"This is awesome! We have to tell everyone at the guild about this! We HAVE to tell Happy about this! He's gonna love having a baby brother!"
"Or a sister."
"Either way, I KNOW he's going to love it. Come on, let's go tell everyone!" Natsu exclaimed, grabbing Lucy's wrists and practically pulling her out of the apartment as he ran out the door, barely containing the news he was just given. Despite the wind blowing in her face and hair, Lucy couldn't help but laugh at Natsu's, for lack of a better word, child-like excitement about having a baby. Lucy was excited too, she couldn't lie, so she really couldn't wait to tell everyone in the Fairy Tail guild about her and Natsu's upcoming baby.
