A Passion Rekindled

When the heroes returned to Melari's mine, it was just as Ezlo said. All the minerals had changed by the power of the Fire Element. The mine was abundant with so much iron ore; there was no need to cut any more trees for charcoal. Even Melari was amazed.

"Please, Master Melari," Chiruta pleaded. "Please be a smith again. Your wife knew how your work always made you happy."

Looking at the iron ore in his hands, Melari shed a tear as he thought about his deceased wife. How he wished she would be alive to see this. No doubt she would be happy that her husband and people wouldn't have to fight anymore.

Melari picked up his hammer and began ordering his apprentices around like he used to. "All right, light the furnace and stroke the flames!"

"Yes, sir!" the apprentices happily cheered. They were happy that their master was back to being a smith again.

Melari turned his attention to Link. "I'll repair the broken sword. And with this iron ore, you can bet it'll be better than before!"

"Yes!" Link cheered.

"It'll take some time to repair the sword," Melari informed the heroes. "I'll also need the powers of the other two Elements."

"We'll find them," Emily promised.

"Thank you for helping us," Link said gratefully.

Melari shook his head. "I should be thanking you kids. You gave me my life back."

Emily softly smiled. "There are many losses in life that aren't easy to recover from. But you still have happy memories that you'll always cherish. So long as you remember the happy times you shared with your wife, you'll also find happiness again in the job you love and it will help you heal slowly, but surely."

Melari smiled back. "Thank you, Emily; you and your friends. But now it's my turn to help you. Gentari has a twin brother who lives in the town library of Hyrule. He might know where you can find the other two Elements."

"We'll go and ask him," said Yugi. "Thanks again, Master Melari."

"We won't let you down," Link promised.

"And I won't let you down," the smith returned. "I couldn't save my wife, so I've got to make sure you save Princess Zelda."

Kaiba softly chuckled. He remembered how Alister said a similar thing to him a long time ago. The redhead wasn't able to save his brother, but at least helped the brunette to save his friends from Dartz. It felt good recalling that memory.
