A New Page for the Books
The heroes left Mt. Crenel and flew all the way back to Hyrule Castle Town and came to the library. Since Gentari's brother was a Picori, this meant that the heroes needed to find a Minish Portal so they could shrink.
"I wonder what a Minish Portal would look like in a town like this," Yugi wondered.
Joey was wondering the same thing. Then he remembered. "Kaiba, let me have the Cane of Pacci back."
"What?"
"You said we'd take turns using it," the blonde lad reminded him. "Well, now it's my turn."
"How can you think of that right now?" Kaiba asked. Nonetheless, he handed over the Cane of Pacci. Joey took it and laughed as he twirled it around.
"Be careful, Joey," Ezlo warned him. "That's not a toy!"
"Ezlo, you worry too much," Link said.
Joey agreed. "Learn to have a little – fun!" he yelped as he accidentally pointed the Cane, releasing its magic. The Cane's magic struck one of the nearby jars, turning it over and much to everyone's surprise, the underside of the jar was a Minish Portal!
None of them could believe it. Joey had just found a Minish Portal! "Did you actually intend for that to happen?" Max asked him.
He didn't. "No, I didn't even think that there would actually even be a Minish Portal there."
"Well, it was because of you that we were able to find one, so way to go, Joey," said Emily.
"Yeah, even if it was by accident," said Max.
"Or your dumb luck," Kaiba teased.
"All right already!" Joey snapped. "Let's just hurry and find Elder Gentari's brother!" His friends agreed. They all surrounded the Minish Portal and Ezlo chanted his spell, causing them all to shrink once again.
"All this size changing is making me feel like Alice from Alice in Wonderland," Emily joked, and all of her friends laughed with her. They were thinking the same thing.
"Maybe we should also start calling you Thumbelina from now on," Kaiba teased.
"Very funny," the blonde girl replied sarcastically. "So how are we going to get into the library?"
"Maybe there's a mouse hole somewhere," Link figured.
Emily saw a white cat sniffing around nearby. Well, it never hurt to ask for help from an animal, right? Of course, cats will chase anything small, but Emily had an idea. She began walking towards the feline.
Ezlo saw this and cried, "No, Emily!"
But she ignored him and kept walking towards the white cat. The feline noticed her scent and turned her head towards the small girl. The cat then crouched in a position where she looked like she was ready to pounce and she also growled at Emily.
"Calm down," the blonde girl ordered. "I don't want any trouble."
The cat relaxed at the sound of Emily's voice. She even allowed the blonde girl to get close enough to pet her.
Ezlo was dumbfounded at what he was seeing. "How did she do that?"
Max smiled. "Emily just has a special thing with cats. They seem to like her as much as she likes them." Max and Emily also had the power to command animals and get them to do anything they said.
Emily gently patted the cat's nose. "My friends and I need to get inside the library. Can you help us?"
The white cat noticed the others. She crouched down and said, "Climb on my back. I'll take you there." So they all climbed aboard. Once the heroes were on her back, the cat got on her feet and said, "Now hold on tight, but don't yank my fur." She then came to a tree and climbed up to a branch that reached one of the windows. The cat carefully crossed the branch and dropped the heroes off at the window.
"Thanks for your help," Emily said as she and her friends stepped inside.
"You're welcome," the cat said and began climbing down from the library sure was a lot bigger from the inside. Even from on top of the bookshelves, the height was great. On the top of one of the bookshelves, a Picori was reading a human-sized book. Link and the others wondered if he could help, so they walked across the bookshelf they were standing on. As they all got there, the heroes were about to ask for help. That was, until they were curious to know what this Picori was reading about. The texts on the pages were written in Hylian, which, of course, Yugi and his friends didn't understand. But they looked at the pictures and saw that they were illustrations of their ancestors – the Children of Millennia.
Of course, none of them were surprised. Princess Zelda did mention that the stories of the Children of Millennia and the age of the Shadow Games were known in the kingdom of Hyrule.
"The Children of Millennia," the Picori read out loud. "That was what the group of young friends called themselves…"
"And together, they would often patrol the Egyptian kingdom and help others in need," Link chimed in.
The Picori turned around. "Yes," he replied. "They would stop criminals, visit the sick, and rescue anyone who was in danger."
"Because they wanted to fulfill Millennia's wishes of keeping the Egyptian kingdom peaceful," Link said, having heard the story many times before. "I'm sorry, did I interrupt you?"
"Oh, no," the Picori replied. "In fact, you're just in time to help me." He walked over to the other side of the book. "The pages can be hard for me to lift by myself."
"Oh, of course," Emily said, putting her hands under the page.
As they were turning the page, the Picori observed Yugi and the others and said, "Pardon me, but you guys look an awful lot like the Children of Millennia."
"Actually, they're our ancestors," Yugi replied.
"Oh," the Picori said in awe. "That's why I was easily able to recognize you."
Yugi then asked a question about something he had been curious about. "By any chance, did the Picori exist during the age of the Shadow Games?"
"Oh, yes," he answered. "Many of our ancestors came from Egypt and other places too." He stifled a laugh and said, "I've heard some Picori brag about how their families' ancestors met the Children of Millennia and helped them."
Emily smiled in response. Then she laughed to herself, imagining the Picori wearing Egyptian clothing.
Once they finished turning the page, Kaiba said to the Picori, "Listen, we were told that Elder Gentari has a brother who lives here in this library. Do you know him?"
"You must mean Elder Librari," the Picori answered. "I can take you to him." So he led the way and the others followed him as they climbed down the spines of the books. The Picori brought them to a makeshift house shaped like a book.
The heroes stepped inside and saw the Picori elder sitting at a desk and writing on paper with a quill pen. He noticed his visitors and asked, "Ah, Link, I presume? I've heard much about you and your companions from my brother."
"Then you know why we're here," said Max. "We need to know where we can find the Elements of Wind and Water."
"I think I can help with that," Elder Librari said. He began muttering to himself as he was rummaging through some papers. The heroes weren't sure if he was looking for maps or something in his books.
Max picked up a sheet of paper that mentioned people who shared a connection with the wind. "Wind Tribe," she said quietly.
Elder Librari heard her and said, "The Wind Tribe live in a temple far from here. To get there, you have to cross the swamps of Castor Wilds and make it past the Fortress of Winds."
"Maybe that's where we'll find the Wind Element," Joey figured.
"But what about the Water Element?" Yugi asked.
Elder Librari pulled out a book. "There's an underground temple known as the Temple of Droplets. I remember going there once before in my youth."
"Back then, you were the only Picori to enter the Temple of Droplets," Ezlo said without thinking.
"How do you know that, Ezlo?" Link asked as the elder gave him a map.
Librari blinked, thinking he had heard that name before. He also thought Ezlo's voice sounded familiar. He eyed him suspiciously and asked, "Have we met before?"
Ezlo stammered for a bit, then nervously replied, "No, I don't think so. Anyway, thanks for your help. We'd better get going." And he pulled himself away, taking Link with him. As the others followed, they knew right away that Ezlo was obviously hiding something and they were determined to find out what.
