Chapter 11

Authors Note :Thank you so much my readers.

I want a pure and simple love

Returning to hometown felt completely separate then last time I left.

My success with Clothes over bros was at the point where. I didn't need a store or to go into work multiple times a week. I was set for the rest of my life.

But that just isn't me I love working at my store and would continue too unless I was given a reason not too or decided to step down.

I had decided that love wasn't in the cards for me.

I had a habit of picking the wrong men. Or falling for men that had feelings for other women.

It was Nathan who set up me and Clay Evans.

It was supposed to be a simple dinner but we stayed until closing just getting to know each other. And exchanged contact information.

I honestly didn't expect to see him again. But that was the start of everything.

...

When I heard about Brooke 's clothing line expanded success I reached out to her.

It had been months since we spoke at that point but I'm relieved it happened.

Because I admitted that I missed her and wanted her in my life

Even if Peyton didn't want that. So we agreed back then to remain friends.

But she never told me she was coming back to town. And from what I hear she's dating some guy.

I should be happy for her. Overjoyed. But I didn't feel that.

I felt envious of a stranger. That was free to love and care and support a woman who mattered to me greatly.

Why did the idea of seeing her and this guy make me not want to go into town at all.?

Why did I care at all. So deeply? Lucas questioned himself.

As he watched his sons play in the backyard.

...

(I cannot believe what I am seeing. Rachel Gatina is fully evolved in small town life.) Brooke proclaimed.

(I know. What's happened to me. Love changes you I guess.) Rachel replied.

(So catch me up.) Brooke insisted. As they entered the home Mouth and her lived in.

(I'm engaged.) Rachel announced.

Brooke 's eyes went wide once she saw the ring.

...

Days Later

(You and Peyton have those beautiful boys. That house.)

(This is what you've wanted since we were teenagers. Yet you're holding off on fully committing to her why?) Haley questioned.

As her and Lucas sat down for lunch.

(I don't know. You aren't supposed to have doubts. You and Nathan married and got re married in high school. Yet I've been with her for years now and something feels off.)

(Like if we got married it would be a mistake.) Lucas admitted.
