Chapter 15
Improve you're reality or lower you're expectations
(You said it yourself. I have someone who puts me first. I don't need more then that.) Brooke proclaimed.
(I should really go to the office. I'm meeting Peyton for lunch.)
(Did you ever imagine that this was how our lives would turn out.?) Lucas asked.
(I remember being a love struck teenager thinking that choosing each other was all it took but I grew up. We both did. Life isn't a fairytale Lucas. At least not for most of us.) Brooke replied.
And with that Lucas put money on the bill to cover breakfast then left.
Brooke went to her store and focused on work.
These meet ups brought up thoughts and feelings they shouldn't.
She found herself longing for the distance she had created being out of town.
When seeing and thinking about Lucas and seeing Peyton didn't happen.
She could live in her bubble with Clay. Being back in Tree Hill.
The past was everywhere. But it was home.
Where she belonged.
...
Sometime Later
Brooke sat down at the table she had picked out awaiting Victoria. The two were having lunch.
Since she made it clear she was moving back. Victoria and Ted decided to do the same.
The couple liked Clay alot more than they expected.
He was a needed improvement from the riff raff of Tree Hill men.
(I had a business call. Did you order for us already?) Victoria asked.
(I did. The appetizers should be here soon.) Brooke replied.
(I still can't believe you came back here to stay. I mean things were flawless in New York and LA.) Victoria proclaimed.
(This is where I want to start the next chapter. Wedding. A baby.)
(You and daddy have been all over me about setting down. Now I'm ready for that.) Brooke stated matter of fact.
(Any grandchild of mine will call me Victoria. Nothing else. And if you're happy. I guess Ted and I can adjust.) Victoria replied.
(Thank you mom.) Brooke said.
As the appetizers were served and the two started to eat. Brooke had to bring up something her mom had mentioned years ago.
Since it was currently mirroring her life now.
(You brought up years ago. That there was a boy that loved you. But you choose dad and the life he offered instead. Do you ever regret that?) Brooke asked.
(None of this matters Brooke. A guy like him wasn't going to give me the future I wanted or deserved. Love can only go so far. Reality is regret is a wasted emotion.)
(I wouldn't be Victoria Davis if I let my heart control my life choices.)
(What you have with Clay is worth investing in. Don't be a fool.) Victoria replied.
(The life the two of you can create is worth alot more than what any man in this town can offer. Especially of the unmarried Scott variety.) Victoria glared at her daughter.
Lucas Scott still had a hold on her daughter and none of it made sense.
Marriage wasn't about getting what you want or being happy. It was about security.
She had told her that for years.
