It was now the next day after Estarossa's unanticipated encounter with Derieri's sister, Rajine. After getting dressed and going through his typical morning procedures, he made his way out of his bedroom and decided to head to the library within his father's castle.
'I figure the Demon King will eventually call the Ten Commandments for something today so until then, I'll avoid him in here' thought Estarossa.
'Man, that woman sure is special. Maybe I could go sneak to see her' his thoughts continued 'but where the hell would she be? How would I know?'
"Dammit!" he whispered under his breath in response to his thoughts.
Just as Estarossa was reaching to open the door to the royal library, he heard a high-pitched voice call him from behind.
"Oh, there you are, Prince Estarossa!" exclaimed Peronia.
Estarossa jumped from being startled.
"My apologies for coming to you on short notice-"
"Yea, you scared the hell out of me!" replied Estarossa.
"I said I was sorry!"
"Okay," Estarossa sighed, "What do you want?"
"It's not what I want, the Demon King asked for you and all your brothers- or should I say other brothers concerning a quite serious matter."
"Like what?"
"Well, there's been rumors of Meliodas having relations with the daughter of the Supreme Deity, Elizabeth. And he…" Peronia spoke on, but Estarossa lost focus of what she was saying due to the mention of the name, Elizabeth. That rang a bell in his head.
'Isn't that the same young lady Meliodas and I used to hang out with?!' he thought to himself. Despite the shock, he regained enough focus to hear what Peronia was saying.
"He's waiting for you in his throne room and I recommend that you appear before him imminently, sir.
Estarossa moved quickly to get to his father's throne room and entered through the tall threshold leading there in which he entered to a view of his father raging, almost like a madman.
Chandler, Cusak, and the Ten Commandments glanced at Estarossa as he entered. All of them seemed to be expressing some type of sorrow or deep worry on their face.
All Estarossa felt at this time was confusion but also fear as he shifted his gaze to his father. Although the Demon King decided to shrink his appearance, that didn't take away from his fierceness or dark and demanding aura and how he seemed to tower over any and everyone.
"Estarossa," the Demon King boomed, causing his second youngest son to quickly turn his terrified gaze to his father's eyes.
"Have you any useful information concerning your brother having a relationship with any type of goddess?"
Estarossa remained silent for a second, somewhat contemplating his life, but then responded "No, father I do not", lying to him.
Zeldris glared at Estarossa knowing he was lying as Meliodas himself had a conversation with him concerning this matter. Yet, he hasn't had the nerve to speak up yet since he was not told to for some unknown reason.
"Boy, do not lie to me" replied the Demon King, in a tone that suggested a warning, his eyes glowering.
"I'm not," he gulped. "I thought we had a truce with the Goddess clan-"
Estarossa stopped, due to the stare everyone in the room gave him concerning the last comment he made.
"Estarossa," Cusak said, "We knew you were odd but are you being serious-"
"Cusak!" Chandler interrupted, on the verge of tears due to the situation.
The Demon King looked over to them, then back at Estarossa, and rudely explained to him why there was an issue.
Estarossa bowed his head, apologizing to his father for not understanding. He still didn't but thought it was best not to argue.
The Ten Commandments and the other high-ranked apprentices in the Demon King's presence stood there for some time engaged in what the Demon King was saying but yet remaining completely silent as he was pretty much going off. Or at least that was until Meliodas entered the room. Everyone turned their head in shock, except the Demon King. The expressions on the faces of pretty much every one of the Ten Commandments except Estarossa changed from shock to almost disgust. Whereas some began to show anger or rather rage, like that of the Demon King.
This was one of those moments when the Demon King was too upset to speak. Cusak casually motioned for everyone to leave the room as he sure as hell wanted out of there. Things could get ugly.
Just and Cusak motioned, and so did everyone without having to be told twice. The Demon King did not even care to stop them or took them as disobeying his orders. As they all exited, not one of them exchanged a glance with Meliodas saved Estarossa. His face as he left displayed deep confusion as to what was happening but nevertheless, he left.
It was silent for a few moments until the Demon King broke it. "Where the hell have you been?!" yelled the Demon King. "I was spending some alone time to get my mind together." "Lies." "No, I'm not" calmly replied Meliodas. "If so, then why are there rumors of you being seen with the Supreme Deity's daughter, a goddess?" "I haven't a clue. It's silly to believe everything one may hear. Anyone can start any type of rumor and many will stupidly believe it." "WATCH your damn mouth," boomed the Demon King as he approached his son. "You mean to tell me that what I'm hearing is a stupid lie?" "Precisely" replied Meliodas, knowing he could get killed that day had something gotten out of hand with his father.
The Demon King backed away from his son and turned his back. He stood there for a moment and moved towards a large window, remaining silent, staring out of it. You could hear a pin drop. "If you are lying to me, I will kill you. Get out."
Meliodas left, biting his tongue, wanting to say something in response to his father's harsh comments. Fighting the desire, he left with a blank and serious expression on his face. The Ten Commandments, Peronia, Chandler, and Cusak waited outside to see what the outcome would be but this time as Meliodas was leaving, he exchanged not one word or glance with anyone. All they saw was the fierce and ruthless leader they were used to.
Seeing this, they assumed nothing too bad would happen that would require defense so they also left after him, all departing to their "normal" daily lives.
The heated moment that Estarossa had just witnessed and experienced left his head spinning, still confused. Despite this, since everyone seemed to be acting normal now, he figured he should try to be as "normal" as he could be as well. He wanted to go find Rajine, he needed someone to talk to after this that would possibly understand his thoughts.
'Maybe I could try to go follow Derieri and Monspeet to see where she is? No, they would suspect something suspicious of me' he thought. In the end, he decided to see if he could pick up on her presence nearby somewhere and once he did would go and look for her.
Surprisingly, his idea worked. Oddly, he found Rajine by herself, alone. She seemed to be shopping for something in the markets in her hometown area. She felt a familiar presence not too far from her and looked behind her, to see Estarossa greeting her with his arms open.
"Hey!, you found me" exclaimed Rajine as she gave Estarossa a hug, which wasn't entirely expecting but accepted it.
"I'm glad I did. Um, what are you doing in the marketplace?"
"I don't know," replied Rajine. "I figured I had some time to kill and I had no idea where to find you, so, here I am," she said while looking through the jewelry that was on display at the booth she and Estarossa were standing at.
"Oh- you do that too?" replied Estarossa.
"Do what?"
"Completely random things because you're bored" he replied.
Rajine laughed, "Hmm, I guess you could call it that," she said while moving to look at a ring that has caught her eye for some time now.
Estarossa followed her, noticing Rajine's gaze at the jewelry. It had a beautiful aquamarine gemstone which happened to be Rajine's birthstone. "Do you want that one?" asked Estarossa, curiously. "Sort of, I mean the ring does have my birthstone and I have been wanting it for a while but it's really expensive." She and Estarossa exchanged a glance. "Well- for me, it's expensive." "So, do you want me to get it for you?" Estarossa said grinning. Rajine looked down and every direction but at Estarossa as she said "Now, you're the only one who said that." "Wait, you said that was your birthstone?" asked Estarossa. "Yes, it's aquamarine" replied Rajine. "So, you were born in March?" "I was in fact, I didn't know you would know something like that" answered Rajine. "Well, I mean, I have time to kill as well" replied Estarossa in a 'matter of fact' tone. They both laughed in response to Estarossa's last comment as they began to walk away from the booth.
"Hey, will you come back with me to my house?" Rajine said, asking Estarossa.
"Only if your sister isn't there," said Estarossa
"What you tryna say?" Rajine asked while slightly raising her tone.
"Oh, nothing like that it's just I don't think she's too fond of me."
"Well, I didn't think of that. Perhaps instead we could go somewhere more quiet around here."
"Sounds more ideal" replied Estarossa.
"Good," said Rajine as she took flight, Estarossa following her.
