Five years after the babies were born Liz was training them.
"You're never going to hit me like that, sis," said the boy as he dodged ice ball after ice ball with his superspeed.
"Then why don't you slow down for a little bit?" asked the girl as she froze the ground of the training room, causing her brother to slip on the ice and fall to the floor before sliding into a wall.
"You both just failed the mission of this training exercise," said Liz as she walked up to them with the floor melting.
"You never said there was a mission," said the girl.
"I said no ice other than ice balls, the objective was for you to use them only and Speed was to keep a cool head and not taunt his opponent," said Liz.
"But taunting them will throw their concentration off, giving you a chance," said Speed as he stood up.
"Or you could cost people their lives," said Neckrox as he walked in.
"I think it's time to show them the footage," said Liz. A few minutes later, they were watching news footage of a burning building.
"A villain did this after being taunted by a hero, 34 people died in the fire and that hero quit because of his actions," said Liz.
"I'm sorry mom, I'll do better," said Speed, who was crying while clenching his fists as it finally sat in what his actions could cause.
"Me too," said Ice as she did the same with her hands.
"Good, now go get ready, we have a dinner party to go to," said Liz.
