Author Notes
Happy Birthday my dear Chika-chan!
I adoreeee your silliness and coolness as Numazu's hero with your sisters – Million Dollar!
And you going "I'm not Chika!" is 1,000,000 cute-watts injected into me XD
And so, this story has been written for all your cuteness and love for You-chan :P hehe~
May everyone reading this enjoy~! XD
"Ah, You-chan!" An elderly lady opens her house door and called out to the smiley delivery girl before said delivery girl heads to her next destination.
"Oba-san! How can I help you?" You's smile brightens the auntie's gloomy mood a little.
"Is there…any mail for me?"
"Oh…There isn't any at this moment!" You pats her messenger bag, she knows every single home she needs to visit for today's delivery before she left the postal office.
"Ah…" The auntie's entire body posture drooped as her downcast expression stared at the porch.
"Is there a mail you were looking forward to receiving? Perhaps it will be here tomorrow?" You tries to cheer the auntie up with some hopeful remarks.
The auntie shook her head. "I've been waiting for a letter from my daughter who has not been back home in Numazu for 10 years now… It should be today…"
You's heart went out to the auntie immediately upon hearing that her daughter has been gone for that long. The letter was sure to put a huge smile on the auntie's face! You looks to the skies, it was a pleasant day with some fluffy white clouds in the distance. You nods to herself.
"I'll wait to see if your letter is received today, and I will come flying over to deliver it to you, oba-san!" You decided that she will work overtime and risk the night just to help this auntie be reunited with her daughter via a long-awaited letter that is sure to hold words more precious than any gem could offer.
Just the proposition of possibly receiving her daughter's letter today puts a hopeful and grateful smile on the auntie's face as she lets out a heavy, thankful sigh. "Thank you, thank you, You-chan…"
"Hehehe, just doing what any messenger would do!" You knocks a fist to her heart before she waved goodbye. "I'll see you later! Got more mails to deliver!"
The auntie waved You goodbye before heading back inside.
.
.
.
"Is it not here yet~?" You sings as she waited for the final delivery of tomorrow's mail to arrive.
And right then, the door opens and a tall lady stride in and heaves a huge bag of letters to the ground.
"It's here!" You's face lights up as she hurries over to it to search for a single letter addressed to the auntie missing her daughter.
"Nope."
"Nope."
"Nope."
"Oh, this one is for that family with the cute puppies, hehe~"
You was not on sorting duty today but since she was going to search for a specific letter, she figured she would help sort all the letters for tomorrow's delivery.
"Oh! For Tochiman… I shall help deliver that tomorrow~" You puts this in her pile and continued sifting through the many letters.
"Nope."
"Nope."
"Nope…"
"Ah! HERE IT IS!" You found the letter and did a happy jump and spin. She quickly puts it in her messenger bag and finished sorting the rest before heading outside.
"Uwaa, it's already so dark…" You gazes into the distance, appreciating her town in its quiet serenity.
As I thought… Numazu is a pretty place to live in.
You grins as she adjusts her goggles from her hat to be placed over her eyes and hops into the canon to shoot her off into the distance – for a special night flight delivery!
Let's not keep the auntie waiting too long!
The canon gets into position and as the magical bubble charges up, You's heart accelerates in anticipation as it does for every blast. 3…2…1…!
"Yahooooo~!" You laughs and cheers as she manoeuvred towards the correct street. She remembered to not be too loud now that it was nighttime and amazingly landed with only a thud.
You hops up the steps and knocks on the door, she hears hasty footsteps and she holds back a chuckle at the auntie's eagerness.
"You-chan!" The auntie's eyes widen in surprise. "The…the letter really came? I'm so sorry for making you have to work till so late!"
You shakes her head, her blue eyes smiling as she took the letter out from her messenger bag. "I wanted to do it. Here! A letter for you."
The auntie's breath shook with anticipation and gratefulness. Accepting the letter, her eyes teared up just from seeing it was from her daughter.
"Thank you… Thank you…"
You nods. "I think you should write back to her. And tell her to come home for a bit. Numazu is a great place to be in."
The auntie wipes a stray tear that escaped her eyes that twinkles with joy. "It really is… I'll be sure to tell her that."
You beams and as she was about to turn away, the auntie spoke again.
"I have to tell her that there's a wonderful messenger girl she should meet."
"Eh!? Me?" You points to herself in surprise.
The auntie chuckles. "Yes…Who wouldn't like to meet a kind soul?"
"That's true but…you're praising me too much. I'm just doing my job."
The auntie smiles and reaches over to squeeze You's hand. "You're doing a fine job."
You smiles a heartfelt one. "Thank you. Good night, oba-san."
"Mmm~" You stretches and let's out a happy sigh. "Time to head home!"
It always feels so good to deliver a mail and get such responses… I really do hope the auntie's daughter returns home soon!
You starts towards home but after some time, she felt like the wind the air was different and looking to her right where the thick and tall trees are, You stares as she begins to hear weird noises that adults cannot seem to hear. Looking around, she could see strange darkness engulfing the forest. You swallows and wanted to run off in the other direction but the dark stuff has already spread out onto the bushes in front of her and the ground around her.
This isn't good..!
You steps back but the dark blue miasma climbs on her and wrapped her tightly. The more You struggles and grunts the more the dark energy pulled and tightened against her. The dark, purplish lightning cackling around this dark mass made You worry she was going to get hurt and when she looked around her, she has been pulled into the forest before she knew it.
"Wah..! L-Let go! Ugh!" You tries her best to shake it off but it did not work and the tightening was starting to be rather painful.
What can I do..? What can I do…?
You's breathing starts to be dangerously uneven as she groans in protest. And just then, a beam of light was fast approaching from the other side as she heard the sound of wheels screeching.
"Someone..! Help!" You calls out while the dark miasma wrapped her tighter and she notices four large deers with eerily red glowing eyes staring her down from a slight distance.
"Am I gonna get eaten!?"
The light glares in You's direction making the scary and hostile moose back away as the van screeches to a stop.
"Are you okay, little puppy?"
"Don't worry, little puppy!"
"You're safe now that we're here!"
Eh, Chika-chan?—
"MILLION DOLLAR IS HERE!" The three unknown ladies struck their pose after jumping up really high till the moon was their backdrop and landing on an elevated ground; one had her hands on her hips, another on one knee and the third one laying seated.
What is with that super high flip!?
Ah, they just did a pose.
They look so suspicious…
The one in the middle sprung into action first as she revved her a weapon that looked like a large hairdryer, it seemed to charge as its engine purr.
"Deers, don't go going too close to the little puppy!"
Am I the little puppy…?
You blinks a bit confused, she looked around and did not see any puppy plus she was the only one being constricted by an unknown dark energy.
The sound of air being ripped through echoed as the girl in the blue mask fired a few blasts of compressed air close to the deers and scared them away from You.
"Wah..!" You could not help but let out a surprised sound from the ground getting hit and as the dust settled, she opened her eyes in time to see the blue-masked girl in a rather cute orange and yellow outfit that resembled a ninja slightly, run towards her.
"Wait, Ch- Katy!" One out of the trio shouted as she shot a huge blast of wind right at You.
Eh?!
You shuts her eyes again as the wind blew away the dark miasma constricting her. The relieve and shock of it all made You weak in her knees as she did not have time to catch herself from the release of the miasma and she falls into the girl called Katy's arms.
"Are you okay?"
"Ah, mm… T-Thank you…" You raises her head and she was met with worry-filled scarlet eyes behind the blue, dog-patterned mask.
The mask is so cute…
They stared into each other's eyes for quite some time as Katy helped You regain balance on her feet and simply had her arms supporting You fully; one arm near her waist and back, the other by her shoulder.
"Katy! The battle isn't over." A voice that You swears that it sounds really familiar calls out to her rescuer. Strictly speaking, all three saved her, but considering how this clad-in-orange one hurried to her side first, she felt more inclined in calling this one her saviour.
"Ah! That's right..!" Katy jolts. Was she distracted?
She couldn't possibly be lost in my eyes though?
You shook the errant thought out of her mind, more focused on a few things such as Katy's braids on the left, tied with a similar green ribbon and even donned the same green clover clip on the right as what her best friend Chika would be sporting.
Is this Katy girl… Chika-chan?
"Stay put, You-chan! I mean, little puppy! My older sisters and I— I mean, Million Dollar will save you!" Katy had a determined expression on despite all the slipups.
"You know my name…"
"Don't think too much about it!" Katy turned away to see her older sisters giving her a look of you totally blew our cover. And Katy shot back a distraught look I didn't! I mean, maybe I did! But I didn't mean to!
"Head to somewhere safe, little puppy!" The sister with the long, brown hair and pink mask with a purple veil to cover her mouth instructed.
You nods and hurried for a big sturdy tree to hide behind as she watched what Million Dollar will do next. Those deers look so fierce and scary!
Even without Katy revealing they were sisters, You might have guessed they were with how in sync their battle formation and how their banter was a mix of concern and tease for each other. But the sisterly heroic moment comes to a pause as a sudden TV with legs jumped in front of the sisters shocking them out of whatever they were doing.
"Mum— I mean, BIG MOM!" Katy exclaims.
You tries to hold back a smile. Despite the situation, the dark energy all around, the possessed deers and three weird ladies that call themselves Million Dollar… And now a piece of moving machinery. Not that moving machinery was anything too new when You knows of Kanan's talking and walking frog robot called Tonosama! All of this added together made You not as frightened as she was moments before their arrival.
That's definitely Chika-chan and her family, right?
"What's the sitch?" BIG MOM asks through the screen which gave her a robot-like voice.
The woman in the purple mask and short blonde hair, which You was quite sure is Mito, took out a cute owl-designed binoculars and scanned the surroundings. "Zero casualties. And four medium-sized deers. All at Stage 1."
Ah, these are medium-sized? I thought they were rather big when I was being suffocated by the miasma…
You looked to the floor, gulping as she was worried this dark, weird energy will grab at her again.
"Alright. You know these deers aren't in the wrong. So carry it out as always without injuring them." BIG MOM instructs as she did a big jump into the trees…and You sees the TV walk back into the van.
"Let's do this!" Katy exchanges an affirmative look with her sisters and they got into action by loading their magic wind-guns, running about the space to make the deers unable to decide which one to focus on.
With a few leaps, and Katy even getting a jump boost from Tommy for that aerial advantage, Marcy blasts at the deers to weaken them. You thought Katy was going to just hit them with more wind blasts but Katy takes out an Ocarina?!
Ah…!
Katy looks right at the deers, the moonlight illuminating her. "I'm going to save you right now."
"Cool…" You murmurs, stepping out from the trees unknowingly; like a moth attracted to the flames, she was attracted to Katy's heroic display.
Katy blows a note – clear and soothing. The miasma with the eerie purple lightning dissipated from the deers and their red eyes returned back to normal pupils.
"She did it!" You held her fists in front of her chest in a little cheer.
Katy lands back down with another dramatic pose before looking towards You. You returns a small thumbs up.
"Good job, Katy." Tommy and Marcy walk over and the sisters exchanged high-fives.
"We got to work on a finishing pose but I think we did well too!" Katy crosses her arms in front of her while nodding proudly.
You watches Tommy and Marcy step towards the van, seemingly giving Katy space.
Katy is…Chika-chan…Right?
You was 99.9% sure she was right but when she asks, "Chika-chan..?"
Katy quickly denies it with a cute waving of her hand in front of her face as she wails, "I'm not Chika! (Chika janai!)
You blinks, reads the situation and plays along. "Katy-chan...Thank you for saving me."
If Chika-chan wants to keep her super-secret hero activities hidden for now, I'll let her do so!
"It's not a problem! Just doing what we got to do as heroes! Ha ha ha!" Katy strikes a pose with her hands on her hips and sends a wink to You that she practised hard in front of her mirror just for this moment!
You smiles.
That's such a cute wink! Gyah, I felt that in my heart~
[Chika POV]
"Can I treat you to a meal as thanks?" You asks with an earnest smile.
"Eh?!" Katy flinches but does her best to not seem too shaken.
Lunch? Dinner? Breakfast? Snack? Regardless of which one wouldn't it be bad to be just walking around and eating with You-chan in my hero getup? Will the mask fall? Will I accidentally reveal my identity?
"Your sisters too." You adds, thinking Chika might not want to eat with just her, plus, it was a team effort, and she wants to thank Mito and Shima too.
"Ah." Katy calmed down but her ahoge drooped just a little now that she knows it was not going to be a date for two.
You-chan is always so kind and quick to include more people in happy things like eating together…
"It's okay, you two can go on your date." Marcy supplies and Tommy snickers.
"It's not a date!" (Date janai!) Katy flails at her sisters, thankful for her mask to cover any blush on her face. But when she looks back to see a puppy-eyed sad look on You, she swallows in the sight nervously.
What's with the sad expression…? That would just make me want to give you anything you want, You-chan..! This is why I told my sisters that if we ever have to save you, it'd be "little puppy" instead of "little kitten" that we use to address other civilians that require saving…!
"You don't want to...? I wouldn't want to trouble you—"
"I'll go!" Katy pouts with her eyes closed, she needed to not see You's adorable face for a minute before she can compose herself again. Katy strides across the space between her and You and takes You's hand in hers.
"I'll go...on a...d-d-date...with you..."
What am I doing calling it a "date" myself..!
You breaks out in a huge smile and Chika felt her heart get struck by a cupid's arrow.
Be still my raging heart…!
"W-Well, see you..."
Katy hurries back to their Million Dollar Van, refusing any eye contact from her sisters who she assumed to be giving her teasing smirks and subtle-yet-not-so-subtle eyebrow waggles.
Tommy and Marcy look at each other, and exchanged a silent chuckle and shrug saying Our little sister chose to not look at us hinting to her that she couldn't possibly be leaving You in the woods! look. "We will escort you home."
"Oh, thank you." You thanks as she walked towards the van.
Katy's mouth falls agape from inside the vehicle, realizing how dumb she was to think she escaped close contact with You which makes her heart skip beats and also that she forgot to be cool and said those lines!
.
.
.
Inside the van where Marcy took the wheels and Tommy looked out the window.
Katy could not stop fidgeting. Her eyes flitted to the moonlit night, the woods that now looked calmer without all the dark miasma spreading about, and always back to You who seemed to be looking her way too.
Am I being stared at? Is this a good kind of stare? You-chan looking at me… I like that…
"So...when should we go on our date?" You starts and Katy all but jumps in her seat.
"...I'll surprise you!"
You blinks, already surprised. "It's my thank you to you and you'll surprise me?"
Katy laughs awkwardly but tries to play it cool with a grin she hopes was not crooked and silly. "Y-yeah. I'll pick you up."
I'll pick you up in a really cool way! Just you watch…! I'll make your heart—
You hums in consideration then nods. "I'll be waiting!"
Katy adores You's eager and innocent smile. She swears to protect it and to make the surprise a success.
The ride home was mostly a bunch of little smiles exchanging, eyes looking to and fro shyly and You surprising Katy with a thank you hug before Katy sunk into her seat in the van with a, "Don't say anything!" at her sisters as she took off her blue, dog-patterned mask, revealing her red, red blush.
"Alright, Chika. Have you made sure you got everything with you?" Mito turns back to her little sister adjusting the blue, dog-patterned mask on.
"Just be yourself and I'm sure You will have a great time on this date~" Shima grinned as she observed Chika's reaction in the mirror – pouting embarrassedly at them.
"It's not a date!" (date janai!) Chika huffs as she checked her picnic basket for the nth time today, she was worried the packed lunch will disappear en route and then she will not have any handmade food prepared for her date with You.
"Well, you seem plenty ready. We need to get you up on that roof and head back to help at the inn." Mito exits the Million Dollar Van and looked up to the orange-tiled roof, she hears sounds on top and confirms that You have landed on it.
Chika steps out, mask on and ninja-like garb on, she gives her older sister a grateful smile and then a judging look. "Not dressed up?"
Mito shrugs. "No one is looking right now. Let's do this, Katy."
"Hehe~ Let's!" Chika grips the picnic basket handle tightly and dashes towards her older sister who had her hands out and is ready to give Chika the boost she needed to jump and flip onto the rooftop grandly and gracefully.
"Ha!" Chika does a beautiful aerial spin, catching Mito and Shima both giving her a thumbs up from the corner of her eye before she lands her landing.
Here…I…go…! Perfect!
Chika checks her picnic basket, nodding to herself that the lunchbox inside did not get messed up from her flip. The orange-haired girl peeks at You stretching in the distance with that big, black bag that was once filled with letters and parcels to be delivered to their rightful owner.
Just now when You-chan came to deliver a letter to Tochiman… I almost let slip that I was going on a date with her later! Thankfully, I caught myself in the nick of time. Hehehe~
Chika snickers into her hand that she was able to react so quickly. And just the memory of You's energetic "Mail is here!" echoing from the main entrance to her ears… And You's gorgeous blue eyes that Chika gets lost in every single time she gazes into them… All these little things that You do makes Chika's heart race and she likes it.
"Guess I'll call it a day today—"
Wait, You-chan!
"You-chan!"
Chika hurries out from behind to get You's attention which she did as You's eyes widened at the sight of her quick stepping towards You. And just before Chika could stop, she slips and almost falls off the roof.
"Waah!"
"Chi— Katy-chan!" You catches the falling orange-haired girl by the waist and pulled her inwards, safe in her arms now.
"Are you okay?" You's voice was laced with concern as her heart-stopping ocean-blue eyes searched Chika for an answer.
Y-Y-You-chan is so close…!
Chika presses her hand over her racing heart, hoping for it to not be so obvious in her crush on You. While she holds her breath as their faces were so close!
"Chika…-chan?"
Chika gulps, blinks twice. Remembers she has a mask on and she's supposed to pick You up for a date with Katy, as Katy.
"I'm not C-Chika…" (C-Chika janai…) Katy mumbles a protest.
Ahh, I stuttered cos You-chan is so close and I can feel her breath on me…!
"I'm here for our…" Katy's brain lags for a second; should she say the word…?
"Date?" You helps to fill in. Her concerned expression melted into a sweet smile.
Date…
Katy shuts her eyes for a forced reboot of her system as she opens her eyes to face the tiles instead of You's impossibly cute face.
"You're free now, right?"
You nods, Katy catches that in her peripheral. "How did you know I was done delivering letters for today?"
"Eh? Um… Well, hero's intuition?" Chika laughs awkwardly though she likes the sound of what she just said! Hero's Intuition!
"You're amazing, Katy-chan!" You agrees.
"Ah…hehe~" Katy made to rub the back of her head, a gesture of pleased shyness but found her arms still trapped in front of her as You still had her hands wrapped around her. Burning where those palms were on Katy's waist.
Wah! We are still in this compromising position!
"Um!" Katy makes to step back but You did not allow it as she guided Katy further onto the rooftop first before letting go.
"Safety first."
"It's okay…I can flip and land on my feet…" Katy mumbled, blushing, her heart was doing a bunch of flips cos of You so smoothly being caring and charming.
"What's that?" You leans in and Katy lifts the picnic basket to You's face.
"Lunch. Together." Katy states.
You chuckles lyrically. "Are we having it here?"
"If you…don't mind? I thought it'd be a nice spot for two." Katy gestures to the whole roof with just them two on it.
"I don't mind it at all!" You nods and looks around the roof before pointing to a flatter spot where they can sit down at.
Katy passes one corner of the picnic mat to You and they laid out the green-and-white checkered mat just for their bums as they sat down and let their legs stretch out a little while their shoes were ready for friction at any point in time.
"So…"
"…" You waits for Katy to continue.
"You're…okay? Not too shaken up from being wrapped up by all those strange, dark stuff?" Katy gestures her hands all around to mimic the way the darkness wrapped You up.
You's eyes smiled extra softly at Katy before she shakes her head. "I'm alright. I wasn't scared anymore once Ch- Katy-chan and her valiant older sisters arrived!"
"Million Dollar. That's, er, our group name!" Katy explained.
"Like a band?" You cocks her head to the side cutely.
"L-Like a team name!" Katy clarifies.
"But you were playing the Ocarina amazingly too… Those deers were in awe to the extent that the miasma left them~" You pointed out, a finger pointing up as she nods to herself for noticing all that.
Katy leans back, a blush growing on her.
You-chan thought I was amazing with the instrument… Maybe I could become a band…? No, no. What am I even saying? I want to be a cool hero instead and protect Numazu and You-chan!
"T-That aside! Are you hungry, You-chan? I cooked for you." Katy stuffs her hand into the picnic box to pull out the lunchbox.
"Woah! Did you cook this? I can't wait to dig in!" You smiled extra widely as she eyes the cute blue lunchbox with an orange cover.
Ahh, she's excited about it. She's excited about it!
"Mmph! We practice—" Katy freezes as she almost says that she practices cooking for the customers who stay at the inn. That would have been a Hey, I'm Chika-chan! Your best friend! And am actually Katy the hero too!
"Practice…?" You tilts her head to the side questioningly again. Cute.
"Ah, um. Practice cooking good food for the sustenance a person would need to be the best hero they can be! Ahahahaha…" Katy tries to laugh it off as she pops open the lunchbox for a distraction.
I hope she likes it!
"Wahhh! Is that hamburg? And the seaweed over the rice is so cute too! It's a…seagull?" You leans in close to have a better look.
Katy's heart skips a beat as she tries to push the lunchbox closer so You wasn't too close. It's bad for her heart.
"Y-Yeah. I thought…you might…like it? Since…You're a messenger and fly about…" Katy trails off as You stares at her.
Why is she staring so intently? Did I say something wrong?!
"You're so attentive. We just met last night, and you already know I'm a messenger!" You grins till her eyes were closed, happy, she was exuding happiness.
Ahhh! That's such a cute expression! And of course, I know you're a messenger! You're my best friend! But I can't tell you that so…!
"Mmph! It's kind of obvious with your huge bag! It's really cute too." Katy adds with a nervous smile.
You seems to smile even wider at that. "I think so too. Other than the perks of flight and seeing each person's smile as I deliver the mail. These messenger bags are something I love a lot too!"
Katy laughs. "Joined for the fashion?"
"It's an important reason." You says as she accepts the chopsticks and went for hamburg immediately.
Katy holds the lunchbox carefully and strongly so it does not fall, plus she was worried her hands might be shaking from the nervousness of wondering and hoping that her crush enjoys the food she cooked.
The piece of hamburg gets nicely cut into a piece for You to pick up by the chopsticks and Katy watched with bated breath as the piece of meat goes over to You's mouth…
Does she like it? Does she like the taste? Is it a good enough texture? Is it—
You's passive chewing expression explodes into a shining smile as she elicits sounds of delight. "It's delicious…! Katy-chan!"
Katy returns the huge smile of appreciation. "I'm glad!"
"You should have some too!" You lifts the meat to Katy's mouth but Katy leans back quickly.
"I-I can feed myself!"
"Aww~ But alright." You pops the meat into her mouth again as she lets out more sound of delight. "Mmm~ delicious~! It's so juicy and salted to perfection and…~"
Katy is starting to love her mask more and more now that it's such a handy tool that covers her lovestruck blushes that You seemed extra good at causing her to have.
She's praising the hamburg so much… I knew You-chan loves it but to think I can make her compliment it this much! This makes me want to cook for her every day…
"Ne~"
"M-mm?" Katy blinks to focus again.
"Did you know that hamburg is my favourite food…?" You chews the rice slowly as she watched the orange-haired hero's reaction.
I didn't think about how to answer this…!
"Um…I just happened to…choose this dish! This is You-chan's favourite food, huh? What a…coincidence! It must be fate!" Katy scrambles for words and excuses.
"Oh~ A lucky coincidence, huh?" You smiles and nods slowly.
Uu… My voice is so unnatural. Is she gonna catch my lies?
A gust of wind blows by just then and You holds her hat while Chika holds her hair, with her eyes shut from the wind, Chika breathes in from her nose and You's scent wafts into her.
"Ah."
"Katy-chan…?"
"Ah, um…" Katy lowers her gaze but could not help but drift closer towards You, taking another whiff of You's scent; it was so calming. A smell that had a mix of papers, fresh winds and…something distinct yet she can't put her finger on what it is.
"It's a little embarrassing that you're smelling me but…" You pushes her body a bit closer for Chika to get a better whiff.
"Ah..! I'm sorry…I…you… You smell nice. And, there's this smell…" Katy rambles, leaning back when she makes eye contact with You's alluring ocean-blue eyes.
You smiles. "The sea salt must be what you're smelling. That's the scent of my shampoo and body soap!"
"Sea salt…" Katy murmurs thoughtfully. "I like it."
You beams and Katy clutches her heart.
"Hmm…" You hums as she leans over to the masked hero.
"Eh?"
"You smell like…"
Ah…! What do I smell like!?
"Chika-chan."
!?
"Smells like mikans~" You continues, opening those tempting ocean-blue eyes to look at Katy.
"Eh, ahh…um…" Katy opens and closes her mouth a few times, unsure of what to say.
"And I think it's good."
"You do…?" Katy blinks a myriad of times, her heart now racing for an additional reason; IS HER IDENTITY EXPOSED COS OF SMELLING LIKE HER FAVOURITE FOOD!?
"Mmph. It gives me a sense of sweetness, energy…and it smells of strength too."
"Strength?" Katy's interest piques at that word.
"Strength." You flexes her arm to make her point.
"Ah…~ You're probably…smelling my…hero-ness…?" Katy averts her eyes into the distance, finding her flimsy excuse highly embarrassing.
You leans back. "Hero-ness, huh?"
"Y-Yeah!" Katy nods hard, her neck felt that.
"Remembering how you leapt into the air and aimed and fired those wind shots with your gun and all that… and the way you played your instrument… I think you're heroic indeed, Katy-chan~" You hums happily, seemingly unaware of what she just did. The damage she dealt. The result of her hero blushing till there is steam escaping the orangehead's hair.
I know I shouldn't think this but…I kind of want You-chan to get in danger again so I can save her again…and again… and again… ah… This isn't good…
.
.
.
Katy clears her throat as she absentmindedly caressed the handle of the picnic basket that now held the empty lunchbox as she and You finished every last grain and ingredient. A satisfying lunch had.
You looks over to Katy, her expression ever-gentle.
I don't want the day to end…
"The skies are so pretty, right?" You reaches her hand out towards the vast blue skies.
Katy nods. "It is."
Like you…
Katy manages to keep the thought inside.
"Do you…have anywhere else you need to be?" You slowly, reluctantly inquires.
I'd rather hang with you for the rest of the day, but I promised to be back to help with the evening shift…
"Yeah. Got to…do patrols and stuff like that." Katy plays with her hair.
"I guess…We got to end the date then…?" You shrugs her shoulders in a small movement, her expression saddening.
You-chan doesn't want the date to end too…
"Shall we go on another…another time?" Katy blurts out, leaning way too close to her crush.
You blinks and then she smiles. "Let's."
"I-It's a date then!" Katy throws her hands up in the air from joy.
You chuckles. "It's a date~"
"Ah." Katy realizes that she admits to it being a date and shrinks into herself from the embarrassment. But it was too much to take so she shoots up to her feet.
"I-I-I'll escort you home!"
You helps to fold the mat and returns it to Katy.
"Thank you for the wonderful lunch, Ch- Katy-chan…"
"You're most welcome~!" Katy cheers as they both jumped off the roof with an amazing landing.
Once You was back home safely, Katy turned the corner and took her mask off.
"Ah… Today was so fun…~"
I got to plan out the next date! Hamburgs and mikans? A date at the park? Ahh, so many options~ Maybe I'll ask You-chan which she prefers…~
Chika giggles to herself, believing that she can find out what her best friend would like for an ideal date without letting You know how her hero persona Katy gets to come up with date plans that wow the sweet messenger.
"Hehehehe~"
Chika runs and skips home to Tochiman with the biggest lovestruck smile she ever had.
Author Notes
Once again, I hope everyone had big grins on their faces as they watched Katy-not-Chika be on her date with You-chan~
Or even felt an "Aww~" for You-chan during her messenger job cos it's such a meaningful job! :D To look forward to that letter, to receive that letter…! It's lovely! And precious! And heartfelt!
Leave me a comment if you like! (Chika will be skipping home to Tochiman, You will be delivering those comments, and Miyuki will be grinning from ear to ear reading them! ^w^)
See you next fluffy story~!
