A/N: As many of you can see, this fic finally has a cover. It was made by the wonderfully talented ScarletGhostX, and you can check out her artwork on Twitter and DeviantArt.
She specialized in Danny Phantom and Kim Possible art, and she does take commissions.
Clockwork knew everything.
As the keeper of time, one of the original three Primordials, he had complete control over the flow of time.
Clockwork knew everything.
He knew of Omni-Man's stand against Vought.
He knew of the man known as Clark Kent, much rougher around the edges as he is dragged into the Autobot Civil War.
He knew of Dr Bruce Banner, being present during the T-Virus outbreak in Harverdville.
He knew of Lee Everett gaining the Omnitrix.
All different timelines of course.
And yet, the one that really stuck with him most, was this one.
John Gallagher.
A boy who was gifted powers from a cruel time, who fought to protect those he loved and saved lives on a daily basis.
Who had been sent to Hell.
Once in Hell, it didn't matter how good you were. Unless you had a will of steel, or were just that pure, the society of the Underworld corrupted everyone.
But John… it was backwards for him.
When he was killed, instead of growing worse in the sin paradise… he grew better.
Much like young Daniel Fenton, John was gifted with immense power at a rather young age, and was forced into circumstances he wanted no part in. In the process, he grew better as a person.
Unlike Daniel, John was dead. Not half dead, not dead and revived.
His human body still remains buried in the old cemetery in Miamiville.
Yet, death seemed to not only tame many of John's greater flaws, but gift him with increased power.
He truly remained a kindred spirit, despite his tainted soul.
Clockwork had seen only one boy as exceptional as this one, and that was Danny Fenton.
With time, John had the potential to reach heights no one could predict.
It's all just a matter of…
Time.
Clockwork grinned.
He knew John was going to be a shining beacon of hope within Hell.
He'd have to keep an eye on the boy, but for now, he's going to monitor Omni-Man's progress.
Everything is the way it's supposed to be.
John laughed at the expressions of the other three demons as he walked into the Elevator terminal.
"When you said Elevator, I didn't know you meant a fucking complex… Jesus…" Angel remarked as he, Cherri, and Vanessa stared in awe at the place.
It was mostly golden colored, with some elements reminiscent of Lucifer's handiwork.
"Dude, how did we never know this was here?" Cherri remarked as she walked in. John chuckled.
"Considering what you were told, what reason did you have?"
"Fair."
"So we come here and just choose which ring we want to go to?" Vanessa asked as she looked around in curiosity.
"Yep. Now give me a bit to give Charlie a call." John said as he pulled out his phone. "I don't plan to just disappear on her. If she needs me back at the Hotel, you're on your own."
"Oh come on, Spike. Do you really think Charlie will care?" Angel asked with a roll of his eyes.
"Not taking the chance."
The sudden and quick response threw Angel off. Taking the chance on what?
As they watched John dial the number and raise his phone up to his ear, Cherri turned to Vanessa.
"So, how did you two meet?"
Vanessa averted her gaze. "Valentino found me the day I died."
Cherri's eyes widened. "Shit. He put you through the same shit he puts everyone else?"
Vanessa shook her head. "He tried to… loan me out… but no one wanted to take me." She looked at Cherri. "I was only with him for two months before John demolished that studio. Angel was my best friend the whole time."
Cherri decided to latch onto a more positive subject. "John demolished the place?"
Vanessa smiled fondly as she recalled the memory. "At first I was terrified of him. I think we all were, really." She glanced at Cherri. "Big massive 9 foot demon covered in gashes and spikes walks in, screaming at everyone to get and wait outside, and no Overlords are there?"
"Sounds scary, actually." Cherri admitted, glancing at the demon who was on the phone with Charlie.
Vanessa giggled. "It was. We all thought we were gonna die when the studio came down. He had a wall of fire up too, so we were pretty much trapped." She had a grateful smile on her face as she glanced at the demon. "But then he comes out, offers us a spot at the Hotel. Promises he'll protect us, and that we'll all be safe. I don't think anyone said no."
Cherri nodded. "He sounds awesome."
"He is." Vanessa smiled.
They turned to look at John, who was finishing up his call with Charlie.
"Yeah, I can work next week without any interruptions… Alright, thanks Charlie. I'll see you when we get back." With a smile, he ended the call and put his phone away, and smiled widely at the group. "Well, let's go!"
He led them to an Elevator, which read 'Greed' above the doors. There were rows of seats along the elevator, with a few demons here and there.
"Take a seat. These things are on a timer, so just be patient, and we'll be in the greed ring in no time."
"What's the greed ring like?" Vanessa asked, curious.
John shrugged. "Well, since it's the greed ring, a lot of people there are just greedy assholes. That's about the worst of it though." He glanced up at Vanessa. "Admittedly, that's why both of the Lu Lu parks are settled in the Greed ring."
"Both?" Angel asked, confused. "I thought there was only one."
"Well, technically, I guess you could say there's only one." John admitted. "But there's also Loo Loo Land, which is some piece of shit rip-off of Lu Lu World."
"Huh. How bad is it?" Cherri asked.
"From what I heard, one of their old workers burnt the entire place to cinders a couple days ago. Apparently he was Prince Stolas' bodyguard."
Angel's eyes shot wide. "Prince Stolas? The Goetia demon?"
John nodded. "Very same."
"What's was the workers name?" Cherri asked.
John's brow furrowed in thought as he tried to correctly recall the answer. "Um… Blitzwing? No, Blitzer… it was Blitz something."
"Is Lu Lu World gonna be in any danger?" Vanessa asked, a little nervous.
John chuckled. "Considering Lucifer himself had that park built, I feel bad for the poor soul who fucks with that park."
"So, how much is this gonna cost?" Angel asked, glancing up at John. "Since it was your idea, you're paying, right?"
John nodded. "Sure, no problem."
He wasn't going to mention that he was using Val's credit card, since he'd have no use for it anymore.
The Greed Ring was definitely much different from the Pride Ring. The sky, and the general color all around was a green hue.
It definitely had a different feel compared to the Pride Ring.
"This is weird." Angel remarked.
"I know, right? It looks so odd to see everything green instead of red." Cherri remarked.
Vanessa smiled at the green surroundings. "I think it looks pretty nice."
John laughed. "It's definitely something alright." He glanced back at them. "Come one, park's this way."
"So what exactly is there to do at this place?" Cherri asked, glancing over at John.
"Well, there's a shiton of rides, a few arcades, a bunch of games booths, for shit like shoot the target, stuff like that." John said. "I love getting on the Rattlesnake. Best fucking ride there."
"That's that big ass rollercoaster that was installed a couple years ago, wasn't it?" Angel asked. John nodded.
"Yep. Lucifer wanted to create of version of the Diamondback from hell, so, he gave it the height of the Banshee and the speed of the Diamondback."
Both Angel and Cherri looked confused at his explanation, though Vanessa understood.
"So, wait, the place we're going is like Kings Island?" She asked. Cherri's eyes widened.
"That place is still going?" She asked. "I would've they'd have closed after the incident with the Bat." She remarked.
John shook his head. "Nah. In fact, that place has had three different rides called the Bat. They got one there now, actually." John remarked, turning to Vanessa. "Don't they? Or did they take it out after I died?"
Vanessa shook her head. "No, it's still there. The one that used to be Top Gun?"
John nodded. "Yeah. Wanna hear something funny? Even after I got my powers, my fear of heights never went away. Funnily enough, my main method of travel became jumping for miles." He chuckled at the memory.
"Did you ever get over it?" She asked with a tilt of her head. John laughed.
"Oh yeah. Most unorthodox way to do it." He grinned as he looked down at Vanessa. "Met a group of superhumans like myself not long after I got my powers. They had some funky tech. Something they had was a series of Blackbirds, modified with high tech weaponry and V-Tol capability."
"So what you do?" Angel asked, curious.
"Had a buddy, Peter, take me over the Arctic at the highest possible altitude." He said with a chuckle. "I knew that I would be fine, but the fear was instinctual. I wanted to prove the instinct wrong."
"Did you jump out?" Cherri asked. John laughed.
"Top speed, out the bay doors. Split a glacier in half and created a shockwave from hell." John grinned as he recalled the memory. "Apparently impact caused one hell of an earthquake."
"Jesus Christ man. And you were still alive?" Angel asked in disbelief.
"Oh you don't know the half of it. My body got stronger everyday. I was at my peak before I died." He explained with a chuckle. "Remember when I said the heaviest thing I ever lifted was when I was alive?" When they nodded, he continued. "My buddy Peter, the same guy who flew me over the arctic, had the ability to create and control this insanely durable metal. I was the strongest man on the planet, and even I couldn't break it. To him, though, it was like he was controlling slime. He'd coat his skin in it, become one hell of a tank." He smiled fondly. "Only motherfucker who could stand up to me. Didn't always end well for him, but to be fair, it didn't always for me either."
"So did you finally break it?" Angel asked.
John shook his head. "No. We had some crazy fucking shit happen when I was alive. See, one of the fuckers responsible for my powers kicking in, Tiberius-"
"Wait, Tiberius? In the 21st century?" Cherri laughed her ass of at the name, and Vanessa giggled as well. Angel just snorted.
"That's the kind of name you give a cocky asshole."
John nodded. "He was cocky and sadistic. He was also an extremely powerful geokinetic superhuman." He glanced at Vanessa. "Remember that earthquake when I popped up in Portsmouth?"
Vanessa nodded. "Yeah. That was terrifying."
John tsked. "Also wasn't an earthquake."
Their eyes widened.
"It was that Tiberius guy?"
John nodded.
"Oh yeah. Anyway, he amplified his powers through some sort of serum… I couldn't how, I am not a science guy. Important thing is that while he was weak, he was able to crack the planet."
Everyone's eyes widened.
"Are you serious?" Angel asked in disbelief.
John nodded.
"Oh yeah. Thing is took most of his energy. Probably would've killed him. Another friend, Rachel, she's pyrokinetic. She fried his ass on the spot. But the damage had been done."
"So how did you guys stop it?" Cherri asked, completely pulled in by the story. All three of them leaned in, excited to hear the tail.
John chuckled. "Well, Peter basically had to create a thin unbreakable clamp under the Earth's crust to keep it together. Problem was, being that far underground is really fucking hot. He was durable, but he was still vulnerable to temperature."
"And your not?" Vanessa questioned.
"Body's too dense. Literally. Anything that gets within me is rooted out and destroyed almost instantly because of my immune system. Hell, the only reason I died was because the poison that killed me was a custom mixture specifically designed to combat my immune system." John explained. "Anyway, he couldn't go down there, and even if he could've, he had no way of keeping the planet from cracking any further while he worked his magic."
"But you did." Cherri guessed. John nodded.
"Felt like it damn near ripped my arms. Had to pull it closed and keep it from splitting any further while Peter worked his magic from the surface. Credit where it's due though, he didn't waste any time. Took about 10 minutes."
"JESUS, MAN!" Angel exclaimed, gaping at John. "You held an entire fucking planet together?! How do you not brag about that?!"
"Honestly? I had this phobia of my close being scared of me. So I never really bragged about insane shit like that." John glanced over at Angel. "Only five people know I did that, counting myself, and I'd rather keep it that way."
"God, imagine how strong you are now, then." Cherri remarked, glancing at John, who chuckled.
"Yeah, I'm not sure I want to know, myself." John said with a chuckle.
"What else could you do? Or were you just strong?"
John looked up in thought. "The only other abilities I had was some kind of energy breath, and the ability to absorb energy in all forms. Though I rarely ever made use of that one. Too paranoid about driving myself crazy."
"Did they come with you too?"
John didn't answer at first, instead he just cocked his head back and opened his mouth.
A large powerful blast of what looked like pure magma blasted from his mouth, shooting into the sky and disappearing into nothingness.
When he ceased it, he grinned at the shellshocked group. "That's my energy breath now, which doesn't need to be recharged anymore. As for energy absorption…" John trailed off, and a somewhat nervous look dawned his face. "Let's just say it goes way past energy, now."
At his clear discomfort at the topic, they decided to change the subject.
"So, Vanessa, are you excited to ride some rides?" Cherri asked with a grin on her face. Vanessa nodded.
"Yep! It's been so long since I've been to an amusement park!" She said, a fond smile on her face as she answered.
As the group continued their trek to Lu Lu World, they were unaware of they're spectral visitor.
Clockwork watched them from his lair.
The time was arriving for him to meet the boy.
Clockwork knew everything.
John Gallagher was destined for much in this timeline.
He was more special than anyone ever gave him credit for, even himself.
Well, one gave him credit, but she was special in her own right.
He was breaking a rule. He knew he was.
Clockwork was not supposed to ever interfere directly.
But Clockwork knew everything.
He knew he'd be alright.
He knew everything would work out in the end.
But the times that were coming… the times leading up to that?
Everyone was going to struggle.
The fate of this timeline depended on John Gallagher.
Because Clockwork knew…
… he wasn't just a demon.
A/N: Yeah, all my fics are basically gonna in the same multiverse. The reason I'm using Clockwork to tie them all together? Because he's a badass character and I feel like he's underused.
Don't worry, Clockwork's not playing a big role in all of my fics, just two at the moment.
I also used Clockwork because, in all honesty, I was too lazy to create a character in his place.
Also, Hope you all like John's new design.
Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed, don't forget to check out ScarletGhostX, the creator of the new cover, and definitely don't forget to review the story. Anyway, I'll see all of you in the next chapter.
Stay Tuned…
