GARO: The Fangs of Truth

The story goes as such…

*CLANG-CLANG-CLANG!*

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess of a beautiful land who lived in a beautiful castle.

The echoing sounds of metal striking metal rung in her ears.

One day, a great big, evil dragon appeared and kidnapped the princess, throwing the land into chaos.

*CLANG-CLANG-CLANG!*

The dragon locked the princess away in his evil castle.

Metal on metal continued to clash, sparks flying in a dazzling fashion.

But then, a brave knight appeared to battle the evil dragon.

The owners of the clashing metals fought, seemingly dancing with one another with how they moved.

Against all odds, the knight slayed the dragon and rescue the princess!

The clashing of metal soon ended as a weapon fell to the ground.

The brave knight brought the princess home and the two got married, living happily ever after!

Armor composed of pure gold. A sword so beautiful it put works of art in museums to shame. To the eyes of the young girl, the man that stood before her…

*STAB!*

Was no knight.

The crackling of fire danced all around as the hand that was wrapped around a woman's neck removed his sword from her chest and dropped her to the ground.

The young girl could only look in both disbelief and horror as her mother dropped to the ground, dead. With her stunned, unblinking eyes, the girl moved her head up to…

Armor composed of pure gold. A sword so beautiful it put works of art in museums to shame. To the eyes of the young girl, the man that stood before her…was no knight. After all…

The girl's silver eyes gazed into the cold yet beautiful golden eyes. All around her, flames danced, the wood of her house fueling the flames as winds buffed it, making it stronger.

After all…knights do not have the heads of beasts, right?

The golden eyes of the wolf head stared right at the silver eyed, red cloaked girl. Flames burning down her house, her mother, Summer Rose, on the ground dead.

Young 5 year old Ruby Rose could do nothing more…but cry and scream.

(10 Years Later)

The store bell rung, signaling that a new customer was here. Moving her head without thinking, 15 year old Ruby Rose looked to see who had entered the weapon shop she was at. People don't normally come to weapon shops, civilian or Huntsmen alike, unless the latter needed parts for their weapon or Dust for bullets. She was the only one that bothered to come here daily so she was curious as to who was here.

What was supposed to be a small glance turned into a full on stare. Standing at the door was young man of 16 years old, nearing 17 soon judging from his height. The teen wore a black shirt which was hidden underneath body armor of the same color with silver accents outlining his muscles. He wears a black durable looking trouser that has two black straps on his thighs, and another two strapped around his shins separate from each other. Covering his feet were a pair of black combat boots plated with silver metal. Finally, over his body armor was a white duster coat as on the back was golden triangle symbol.

On to his appearance, his hair was black yet his bangs are golden blond. His face was set in a stern expression, making one think the boy must have never cracked a smile in his life. Yet it was his eyes that got Ruby's attention. Compared to her teammate, Blake's amber eyes, they seemed almost unreal. Compared to her sister, Yang's hair, it was almost hard to believe. As if matching the unrealness of her own silver eyes, the boy's eyes were a pure gold color.

Ruby soon realized that she had unknowingly been staring at the unknown teen as he turned his head towards her and she soon snapped out of her stupor, snapping her had back to the display of impressive weaponry hanging on the walls of the store.

"Hello there." Finally, the store clerk spoke up, approaching the young man. "And how may I help you, dear customer?"

"I ordered a pack of Dust. I'm here to pick it up." The boy said.

"I see. And your name is…?"

"Kiba Saber." The now named Kiba Saber said.

'Saber?' Ruby couldn't help but point out the unique last name. Most names nowadays was associated with color, an example being her own name. The boy's name on the other hand didn't have anything to do with color. It was more like his name was associated with a weapon.

"Kiba Saber, hmm…? Allow me to check in the back." The clerk said before going into the back, leaving Ruby and Kiba the only ones in the store.

All was quiet with the only source of noise being the ticking of an old clock the store owner liked to keep around. He commented how he wanted something else than weapons decorating his walls. But that didn't change the fact that the silence created an awkward atmosphere that Ruby took notice of right away.

'This is so weird!' Ruby thought as she was thinking of what to do. Should she speak up and make small talk? Or should she just continue browsing through the displaying weapons. She wanted to do the former but her mind was leaning towards the latter.

"You."

"Hmm?" Turning around, Ruby cried in surprise when the boy known as Kiba was suddenly right in front of her. She jumped back in surprise but doing so made her collide with the wall behind her which caused a gun to fall and land on her head. "Ow!"

As Ruby held her head in pain, Kiba closed the distance between them and slammed his left hand against a spot on the wall next to Ruby, making her jump in surprise again before noticing how close they were. And she also noticed how tall he was. Granted Ruby was short but the teen before her could possibly be even taller than her sister.

"Uh, can you step back please? You're kind of close." Ruby said as her face was heating up from the embarrassing position they were in.

The boy didn't seem to feel the same as Ruby as he suddenly pulled out strange looking lighter. It appeared demonic looking and had what looked like an eye in the middle.

Opening up the lighter, Kiba ignited it and sparking a flame that was a strange color of green, surprising Ruby as she's never seen green flames before. It was kind of cool to her, to be honest.

For a total of ten seconds, Kiba looked straight into Ruby's eyes, making the girl feel even more awkward. After those ten seconds were up did he close the lighter and step away from her, much to the girl's relief.

"What the heck was that about?" Ruby muttered as she threw a questioning look at Kiba who was putting away his strange looking lighter.

"Sorry, thought you were someone else." He said.

"Do you get close to your friends and bring a flame so close to their face all the time?" Ruby asked as Kiba quickly responded.

"I don't have friends."

"Oh…"

"…"

"…"

A~nd the silence was back. But lucky for Ruby, the store clerk had returned.

"I'm sorry but I didn't find anything with your name on it."

"Are you sure? I ordered from this specific shop." Kiba insisted.

"Well I could go back to double check. Would you like to come with me to help? It is your order after all." The clerk suggested.

"As the saying goes: Two heads are better than one." Kiba said before he and the clerk disappeared into the back, leaving Ruby Rose all alone.

"…A~nd I'm all alone." Ruby thought out loud, sighing before she turned to the wall of weapons. "At least I still have you guys with me."

In the back storage room, the clerk was moving around crates and boxes around while Kiba simply watched.

"Hey, if you're gonna help then you can help me by moving this stuff around." The clerk said. "What did you order from this place anyway?"

"I ordered one simple thing." The clerk turned around and stopped when Kiba ignited his lighter. At the sight of the green flame did words of an unknown language appear in the clerk's eyes. "Your death, Horror."

In an instant, the clerk's face morphed into a murderous expression as he swung his arm at Kiba who raised his own arm up to block the swing before punching the man in the face. The clerk stumbled back before it was kicked in the chest. Growling, he grabbed Kiba's leg and threw him over to where he landed on a couple of crates. The clerk jumped and attacked with an axe kick which Kiba moved out of the way before said axe kick destroyed one of the crates. Back on his feet, Kiba kicked the remains of the crate at the clerk, throwing splinters and saw dust at him. The clerk's face soon morphed into one of anger as with beast-like growl, he raised his arms and suddenly, the crates and boxes of the storage room all opened up before weapons ranging from swords to guns to daggers and even Dust bullets rose up into the air. And with a motion of his arm, the clerk sent all the floating weapons at Kiba who responded be grabbing something hidden within his duster coat.

*BOOM!*

Ruby, who had been minding her own business and reading a weapon's magazine to pass the time, screamed in surprise when an explosion suddenly occurred, sending her body flying and crashing through a window as she rolled on the ground outside before stopping. Ruby wasn't too injured thanks to her Aura protecting her from the explosions and softening the crash. Didn't mean she wasn't dizzy.

"Ugh, what happened?" Ruby slowly stood up, shaking her head before looking up to see the store she was in moments ago was in flames. Naturally, she started to panic. "Oh my god! A fire! Uh, gotta call the fire department!"

Quickly, Ruby went for her Scroll when a figure was suddenly thrown out of the burning building before skidding to a stop in front of Ruby. Looking up, Ruby saw that it was Kiba, now armed with a sword and sheath in his hands.

In his left hand was a red wooden scabbard. The scabbard was a little ornate and being the weapon otaku she is, Ruby could tell that it was more durable than it looked. It was quite thin too though it was just perfect for the sword in Kiba's right hand. With the pommel being red and ornate like the scabbard along with the same golden triangle symbol in the middle of the pommel, the sword in Kiba's hand resembled a Chinses Dao Sword.

Skidding to a stop, Kiba regained his foot and took a stance before noticing a presence behind him and turned to see Ruby.

"You're still here?" Kiba said with a raised eyebrow.

"What happened!?" Ruby asked, standing straight up on her feet.

"No time to explain, you need to run." Kiba said as he turned back to the flaming building.

"Run? Run from what?" Ruby got her answer faster than she thought.

"MAKAI KNIGHT!" Appearing from the flaming building was what Ruby could describe as a monster.

The being before them looked to be a mix between black flesh and metal that formed different weapons. Replacing its hands were sharp looking blades. On its back were two turrents loaded with fire Dust rounds. On its chest was what appeared to be a shield acting as chest armor. The being also had another set of arms equipped with gauntlets and short swords. Finally, its head was what appeared to a demonic head fused with a protective helmet.

"Zaruba, what am I up against?" Kiba lifted up a gothic ring shaped like a human skull. It then, surprisingly, it spoke!

"That is the Horror, Armor. It collects weapons of all kind and fuses with them. The more weapons it collects and fuses with, the more powerful it is. And it just absorbed a whole store of them." The one known as Zaruba spoke, its voice sounding like an old record player was being played. "I'd be careful with this one if I were you, Kiba."

"I know." Kiba said before he put away his scabbard, hiding it away in his duster coat before he takes a stance with his sword and charges towards the so-called Horror.

"Hey, wait!" Ruby called out but the teen was already engaging the monster.

The turrents on the Horror's back started to spin before with a roar, Dust rounds were fired at Kiba who, with precise precision, sliced the bullets as they exploded harmlessly next to him. Seeing that its turrents were ineffective, the Horror stopped and raised its four arms. Once Kiba was within range did he swing down his blades.

Kiba quickly moved to the right to avoid Armor's blades before he jumped and slashed the Horror across the face, getting it to scream in pain. Angry, the Horro started swinging around his blades wildly but Kiba moved and dodged them each and every time, his expressions still stern and emotionless as before.

"It doesn't matter how many weapons you have," Kiba began as he ducked under a swing before jumping up, sword raised. "If you do not know how to use them then they're nothing more than dead weight!"

"Shut up!" The Horror roared before it opened its mouth and a shotgun barrel appeared, surprising Kiba who swung his sword down in time to block the incoming shotgun barrage as he was sent back, skidding and stopping right in front of Ruby again.

See that the girl was still here, Kiba turned to her and said, "I thought I told you to run?"

"You expect me to run when a monster like that is on the loose? No way!" Ruby said as she grabbed something from behind her, a piece of folded metal. Then, right before Kiba's eyes, the metal converted into a deadly looking scythe.

Despite having no lips, Zaruba was somehow able to whistle. "Well, isn't this girl little miss grim reaper? She must be a Huntress-in-training."

Kiba agreed by nodding before he moved his sword in front of her, making her confused.

"Huh?"

"This isn't something you can handle. Now run."

"No way! That guy won't stand a chance if we work together! Now come on!" Ruby said before she used her Semblance and sped off.

"Hey, wait!" Kiba began but Ruby was already gone.

"Something tells me this won't end well."

"No time for comments, Zaruba!" Kiba said before he chased after the scythe wielding girl.

Speeding forth while leaving a trail of rose petals, Ruby was already upon the Horror, surprising the dark monster itself at the girl's speeding before he was pushed back by a strike to the chest. Bringing up its arm, the Horror defending against Ruby's scythe which swung around like a saw with the way Ruby was moving. The girl then suddenly stopped moving, confusion the Horror until it was pushed back a bit by a sniper round to the gut. Using her speed, Ruby then got behind the horror and placed the blade of her scythe in front of the Horror's legs before pulling, tripping and sending the monster face first down on the ground.

"And now for the finish!" Ruby declared as she spun her Crescent Rose to build some momentum before swinging down to finish off the Horror when to her surprise, her scythe's blade barely made it half through the thick, metal back.

"Hehehe, that's a nice weapon you have their, girly." The way the Horror laughed made Ruby uneasy when right before her eyes, her Crescent Rose seemed to merging with the Horror itself! "Mind if I…take it!?

"Hey! Let my Crescent Rose go!" Ruby demanded as she pulled on her weapon but it wouldn't budge. As Ruby continued to pull her weapon back, the blade of the scythe slowly sank into the Horror who continued to laugh at the girl's futile efforts.

*SLASH-BREAK!*

Suddenly, the sound of metal slicing through the air was heard before Ruby was thrown back when she finally pulled her weapon back…or so she thought.

"What the—AH!" Ruby let out a small scream of horror when half Crescent Rose's blade and the parts that held the blade had been smashed and broken off.

"My baby!" Ruby exclaimed in horror.

"Complain about your weapon later." Kiba, the one who had broken Ruby's precious scythe, said as he brandished his sword and faced the Horror who was getting back up.

"Hehehe, thanks for the new scythe." The Horror chuckled as its right hand suddenly grew into a scythe blade. In fact…

"Hey! That looks like Crescent Rose's blade!" Ruby pointed out. She should know as she was the one who crafted the blade herself and knew clean and sharpness of the blade and the monster's right hand looked exactly like that.

"It absorbed the part of your weapon that was already fused into his body." Kiba said as he glanced over to Ruby. "This is why I told you to run. You'd just get in the way and make my job harder."

'Ouch! Harsh much?' Ruby winced at the blunt, harsh words thrown at her. People don't normally talk to her like that. And if they did they'd get a beat down from her sister.

Meanwhile, with Kiba, he looked at the Horror before him, analyzing its entire form for any weak spots and watching as it swung its new scythe arm with great speeds.

"Its gotten a bit stronger from just absorbing that piece of the girl's weapon. Must have been well made." Zaruba said before asking, "What're you gonna do, Kiba?"

"I'm gonna end this now." Kiba responded before glancing over to Ruby. "I suggest you run now. I don't want you getting too close."

Before Ruby could even respond back to the teen, Kiba went and raised his sword into the air before drawing a perfect circle. No, literally, a perfect, round circle had appeared right above Kiba before from that circle a hole opened up and out came piece of golden armored that descended upon Kiba and soon covered his entire form.

First came the legs. His feet were covered in pure golden sabaton armor that resembled the feet of canine. Around the ankles came silver armor which separated the feet and forelegs as said legs were covered by golden greaves before golden poleyn covered the upper legs with small silver armor parts covered the knees. Covering the crotch area was even more armor with the same triangle as seen before on Kiba at the center of the belt area. More pieces of gold fell down and covered Kiba's arms and even his hands as Zaruba was now positioned right above his knuckles. Detailed chest armor protected his upper chest before a broad shoulder armor landed and covered his shoulders with a collar protecting most of his neck. Finally, the last piece of armor descended, a golden helmet covering Kiba's head before the eye sockets flashed gold to show off his golden eyes.

Kiba was not the only thing that had changed. His sword, the Garoken, had undergone a change as well. What once resembled a dao sword was now a long, double-edged broadsword with the pommel being golden like the rest of the armor and the blade having a flaming design rising up in the middle. Finally, the transformation was complete.

Once Kiba was finally done with his transformation did the Horror and even Ruby gasp in fear.

For the Horror, it was primordial fear. Once Kiba had donned his armor did he now know who he was fighting. After all, there was not a single Horror who didn't know the knight standing before him.

"Ōgon Kishi…Garo(Golden Knight Garo)!"

As for why Ruby had gasped in fear, it rooted back to ten years. Just simply staring at the helmet Kiba wore made Ruby's breathing hyperventilate. Her heart beated rapidly and her whole body shook. Her eyes began to play tricks on her and she saw herself surrounded by fire. Just simply looking at the helmet modeled after a wolf made Ruby want nothing more than to get up and run away. After all, the armored being standing before her…had killed her mother.

"Horror," Kiba finally spoke before raising his transformed Garoken at the monster. "I will cut away your Inga."

With that declaration did Kiba leap forth. Panicking a little, the Horror unleashed all the weapons it has fused with upon the golden knight but to its surprise, Kiba expertly blocked and deflected all weapons thrown at him from the slicing of blades to stopping speeding bullets. Then, with another burst of speed, Kiba was upon the Horror before he went and plunged his sword straight through the Horror's gut, making it gasp out in surprise and pain before Kiba went and sliced upward, slicing the Horror's upper half in two before Kiba spun around and bisected the Horror, cutting it in three.

"Uh, Kiba?" Said knight glanced over to the Madou Ring. "That girl is still here."

Eyes widening, Kiba looked forward and saw that Ruby had yet to move from her current position. A normal person would have run and hide after everything that's happen as Kiba had experienced yet it seems he was wrong to think of the girl as most people.

"You fool, I told you to run!" Kiba shouted but the cloaked girl still did not get up from her knees. Hearing the sound of the remains of the Horror about to explode, Kiba quickly ran towards Ruby which seem to snap Ruby out of her stupor. That did not mean she was calm yet.

"N-No! Stay away!" Ruby exclaimed loudly as she backed away.

'What the?' Kiba didn't notice it before but he now noticed. The fear in the girl's eyes and voice. Before he could ponder more about this, the sound of an explosion was heard before black colored blood flew everywhere. Most of it struck him and then disintegrated upon contact with his armor, but some still flew past him…and got onto Ruby.

"No!" Kiba exclaimed but once he saw the blood disappearing, he knew he was too late.

"Huh?" Ruby blinked in confusion, wondering what had happened to the blood that had gotten on her.

"You fool." Ruby once again froze before slowly looking up to come face to face with the golden knight.

"Why didn't you run like I told you?" Kiba said before he suddenly raised his sword to Ruby's neck. "The law states those tainted must be cut down. You've forced my hand."

Just seeing the sword at her neck set Ruby off as well as bringing even more memories up into her head as she slapped the sword away and backed away.

"No! Stay away! Don't come near me!" Ruby frantically screamed as she backed away before tripping over her own weapon which she had dropped during her shocked state.

"Oi. Don't make this any harder than it has to be." Kiba said as he calmly walked over to her while also wondering what had spooked the girl so bad. She didn't seem afraid when the Horror showed up so why was she freaking out from just his presence?

"No…no…get away…!" Ruby hyperventilated as she backed away until her back hit a lamppost. She was cornered. Ruby looked left and right to find a way to escape but her mind wasn't running properly. It was a complete mess. The only thing that was clear to her was the golden knight in front of her. Looking up fearfully, she watched as Kiba raised his sword up.

"No hard feelings. Fill free to hate me as much as you want." Kiba said before he moved his arm and swung the sword down upon Ruby.

Just seeing the sword coming made Ruby's mind go blank as Ruby muttered one last word.

"Mommy…"

And then, the world went black.

And…done! Woo! That was a lot more fun to write than I thought. Been a while since I've done anything GARO related. This little idea suddenly popped into my head while I was watching GARO and I decided why not write the idea down? I will say that I want to do this but when is a different story. Hope you guys liked this. This has been Ashbel Longhart here, signing out.
