Chapter 3

First Day in the Big Apple

(October 12th)

The following morning, Elisa decided to take the Uraraka and Izuku shopping. Their first stop was at a department store, where the teens found the clothes styles unusual and different from those in Japan. Elisa told them that most teens would dress like their favorite TV show or movie actors, but she told them to pick out whatever looked comfortable.

Next was a trip to the local grocery store, where Izuku and Uraraka discovered various foods they had never seen before but were interested in trying. Such as Waffle Crisps, Fruit Roll Ups and Oreo's. But they also choose healthy foods also including Carrots, Salad, Strawberry's and etc.

On the drive home, the two noticed how quiet things were in the city. There were no villains causing trouble or any heroes on patrol. Seeing this made them think seriously about Elisa's theory from last night.

Once they returned home. Elisa told the teens that she worked night shifts, and they could have free reign of the place while she was at work. However, she asked them to help feed and check on her cat, Cagney, a gray feline named after her favorite actor of old Hollywood.

Uraraka was more than happy to care for Cagney. She loved animals and found him to be cute. When it came to Izuku, the cat was wary of the boy at first but soon warmed up to him after Uraraka gave her friend some advice which worked.

As the two were playing with Cagney. Elisa drove around the city briefly, then stopped at one of her meet-up sites, an old movie theater scheduled to be renovated. It was here that her winged friend met her inside.

"I'm glad you made it. You won't believe what I've learned," Elisa said to Goliath as she proceeded to tell him about Izuku and Uraraka and what they showed her last night.

Goliath was surprised to learn the two young humans had powers like sorcerers, and they were from the future, where most people had their own extraordinary abilities.

"Hmm...did either of them say how they got here?" Goliath asked once she was done.

"No, they didn't, which is even more of a surprise. I mean, time travel is considered a fantasy, the stuff of stories, movies, and TV shows," she answered in a concerned tone.

"To humans, yes. But traveling through time is possible through the use of powerful magic. However, there is a danger in doing so, as time is a river that follows in many directions."

Taking in Goliath's words, Elisa knew that he had a point, given that Gargoyles, like himself, actually existed. Things like time travel fall into a similar category.

"So now that you know who they are and when they are from, what will happen to them?" he questioned.

"I was thinking about that earlier today. Normally, people who sneak into the States are deported back to their country. But given they have no identification to prove they're from Japan now...wow, that felt weird to say out loud."

"Since they can't return to their home country, why can't they just stay here?"

"It's not that simple, Goliath. Unlike you and the others, they need to go to school. Get an education, makes friends, and so on. But they would need to become citizens first. Which will take time, unless-" Elisa's tone grew higher as she said this, then stopped.

"Unless what?"

"Why didn't I think of this before. My dad might be able to help. I can go see him first thing tomorrow. He's got some connections with other agencies," she said with a look of confidence.

"Oh, one more thing. Given that Izuku and Uraraka saw you, Hudson, and Bronx, do you think it would be good to let them know who you are?"

Goliath thought for a moment. He knew this was a significant decision that affected not only him but the other members of his clan.

"Hmm... I'll need to talk with the others about this first," he replied.

"I understand. I'm sure they'll get a kick out of this. Especially the trio," Elisa said to him.

After this, she headed back on patrol while Goliath took to the sky and flew towards home. However, both were unaware that someone had seen them speaking to each other. Someone with red eyes.

Around 8:50 PM, Izuku and Uraraka checked out what TV shows were on. They found their choices to consist of American sitcoms like Fraiser, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, The Simpsons, and Married with Children.

As they searched for something to watch, Izuku said something he had been thinking about all day.

"Uraraka, I'm considering what Detective Maza said to be true."

"You mean about us somehow traveling back in time?"

The young man said yes to her, then continued. "I know it seems hard to believe, but if you think about it when we were out earlier, I noticed how the people of the city looked normal. No one seemed to look like an animal, plant, or anything we were used to seeing back home."

"Hmm...you're right. Everyone looked normal, and this city looked like those pictures we saw in history class," she added while looking out at the view of the buildings.

"This feels so...unreal, and yet it is," the girl said sadly.

Izuku stood up and walked over to her. "Uraraka, I know this is hard. Even I'm having trouble accepting this."

Hearing this from Izuku, the most cheerful and confident person she knew, shocked Uraraka as she noticed a look of uncertainty move across his face.

"But...given everything we have been through. I think, no, I know, you and I will get through this together!" he exclaimed to her. "Plus, we can experience what the world was like before Quirks. And how many people can say they've done that?"

"...Your right Deku. Thanks." She responded by giving him a hug, which he wasn't used to from her. A blush of red started to form on his face.

"Oh, you're welcome, Uraraka...So why don't we watch a movie before sleeping?" Izuku suggested after he thanked her.

The teens searched through Elisa's collection of VHS tapes. Seeing so many in person was terrific; they had only seen these cassettes in museum collections back in Japan, where they were considered an ancient form of viewing entertainment. However, at this time, it was the usual way of seeing movies in one's home. The Towering Inferno, Casablanca, Terminator 2, Beauty and the Beast, and the Indiana Jones trilogy were among the choices. Ultimately, they choose to watch Aladdin for the rest of the evening.

Gliding back to the tallest building in the city, Goliath saw the scaffolding and tarps around the areas that were damaged almost a week ago by Demona's rockets. Beneath them, the workers were repairing the damages during the day, as it was too dangerous at night. It worked for Goliath and his clan, as no one saw them.

Landing in the courtyard, Goliath walked inside and began to search for the others. He found Hudson watching TV with Bronx and asked them to join him in the Great Hall.

Next, Goliath located the trio, who were eating in the kitchen. He said the same thing but allowed them to finish their meal first.

Fifteen minutes later, everyone was gathered in the Hall.

"So what's going on, Goliath?" Brooklyn asked curiously.

"Last night, Hudson, Bronx, and I saved two young humans from some thugs. After this, both said they were looking for the police. So we took them to see Elisa, who spoke with them. And what she learned was quite surprising," he exclaimed.

"And...What's that?" wondered Broadway, who was eating a piece of bread.

"It seems these humans are from the future," Goliath answered first, then told everyone about the world they came from.

This was a lot for the clan to take in. Each one was trying to imagine what this world of superhumans was like, as they remained silent once Goliath was done.

"Hmm...What you said would explain how the young lass made Bronx follow us," Hudson stated as he broke the silence.

"Huh, Bronx was in the air?" Lexington asked in surprise.

"It's true; the girl used some kind of power that made him float. At first, we thought it was magic. But now we know it was her power," the elder gargoyle replied to him.

"What about this boy you spoke off. Did Elisa say what his power was?"

"She said it was a power that enhanced his strength. But not much else about it," Goliath told Brooklyn.

"And both don't know how they came here," he added before anyone could ask him next.

"Which means they're stuck here, far from home." Broadway's mood changed to sadness after saying this.

The others thought the same as the Bronx moaned for a bit.

"It's alright, boy," Hudson patted his head, then looked at Goliath. "So I take it you're telling us this because both of them saw us, right?"

"Correct, but I felt it was best to discuss it first," Goliath said as he looked at the others. "Given that Elisa is the only human we trust, do you all think meeting these two humans would be a good idea? And see if they can be trusted with our existence?"

The trio looked at each other briefly, then at Hudson, who thought about this.

"I think we should, Goliath," Brooklyn said first as he came forward. "Like you said, Elisa's the only one we trust. So I think making new friends would be a good idea."

"He's right, plus I'm sure there's much we could learn from them," added Lexington.

"Yeah, like what kinds of food they have in the future. And if they can cook it in this time." Broadway was getting hungry thinking about it.

"Sounds like we're all in, lad."

"Then it's decided. I'll speak with Elisa tomorrow about when we can meet them."

(Mustafa. Japan: 22nd Century)

At UA High School, the former number-one hero, All Might, was going over some paperwork in the teacher's lounge. Many wouldn't think that this skinny, blonde man was the iconic hero of Japan. The muscular form people knew him by was a facade that allowed him to protect the innocent.

But those days were behind him due to his forced retirement. Since then, All Might spent his time teaching and training the next generation of heroes. Things were quiet in the morning as the students were either in class. Or at their internships with the other pro heroes.

As he was sipping some tea, his cell phone rang. Grabbing it, All Might saw that it was Endeavor of all people calling him. 'Wonder what he wants?' Answering the phone, the voice of the current number one hero was heard.

"All Might! Glad you answered." The flame hero replied in a gruff voice.

"Hello, Endeavor. What can I do for you?" All Might asked calmly.

"It's regarding Izuku Midoriya. He never showed up when he was supposed to."

This got All Might's attention, and he nearly dropped the phone. "What! Are you sure about this?"

"I am; only his classmates Bakugo and Shoto arrived. We waited thirty minutes, but the boy never came!"

'That's not like Midoriya; he sent me a text after leaving his mother's house,' All Might thought as they tried to figure this out.

"Have you contacted the police yet?" All Might asked.

"Not yet; I wanted to let you and UA know first. To see if he returned to the dorms," Endeavor replied.

"I appreciate that. I will see if he came back. And contact you later." After the conversation ended. All Might left the lounge, then went to the security room to check the camera recordings.

When he arrived, All Might found Shota Aiwaza doing the same thing. "All Might, what brings you here?" the tired-looking teacher asked.

"I was looking to see if Midoriya came by the dorms. Endeavor said he never showed up to meet him."

"Hmm, that's strange. I was notified by Ryuku that Uraraka didn't show up at her agency either," Aizawa replied as he narrowed his eyes together.

"That's not like either of them. Let's see if the cameras showed them coming back," All Might stated as he and Aizawa looked to see if the two students had stopped by.

But much to their disappointment. The footage didn't show either of them. No matter how many times they looked at it.

After seeing this, All Might tried calling Izuku's phone. But it didn't pick up.

"What the hell is going on?" he wondered with a concerned look.

To Be Continued.
