It was terrible.

'... He saved Lisanna, maybe...' Mirajane had arrviced at the Lewd Gods building, with a heavy heart and swollen eyes.

So many of their guild members, just gone.

Makarov Dreyar, Laxus Dreyar, Gildarts Clive, Erza Scarlet, Natsu Dragneel, Gray Fullbuster, Juvia Lockser, Levy McGarden, Happy, Macao Conbolt, Laki Olietta, Mistogan, Bickslow, Evergreen, Elfman Strauss, Friend Justine, Cana Alberona, Lucy Heartfilia, Panther Lily, and Gajeel Redfox.

They went to the S-class trials, on Tenrou Island, and the entire island just vanished. Rumor had it that it had been destroyed by a giant black dragon, because those who had been nearby said that witnessed a giant light and a black dragon flying away. There were no bodies, but everyone who had been on that island had been presumed to be dead.

"Miss Mirajane... it isn't time for your photoshoot." Wendy noticed Mirajane walking into the guild.

Naruto was busy doing some designs for one of the sets between set making, updating something when he thought of something better. He had Kagura doing a list of prep work for the making of another set while he took the chance to redesign one, but he noticed Mirajane come in as well. He just didn't say anything because he noticed that she seemed to have been crying a lot recently.

The rumors might be true then.

There was word that Fairy Tail had lost all but one of their S-Class mages, and they lost almost all of their strongest fighters as well. Overnight it seemed like Fairy Tail had gone from the "strongest" guild to one of the weakest with the deaths of most of their prominent guild members.

"Naruto."

"Mirajane... want to take a seat?" Naruto kicked a chair from under the table he was sitting at, and she politely sat down in front of him.

She was silent.

She was awkward, because she didn't know how to say what she wanted to say. She squirmed and fidgeted around, but she kept her eyes on Naruto.

'... Hey, are my friends dead... Can you save them...' Mirajane didn't know how to ask. Her brother, her little brother, had been on the island. She didn't know what she needed to ask, and she didn't even know if they could be saved or if they were all really dead. All she knew was that Naruto saved her sister, and he was a reliable person. She didn't have anyone else that she could really turn to either.

She was the Last S-Class mage in Fairy Tail, and she was weakened from years of retirement, and her sister was not strong enough to help her with anyone that could have defeated even Natsu. The fact a dragon was the suspected cause of their deaths just made it seem hopeless.

She couldn't even get revenge.

"... Death God's List..." Naruto had trained under ALL of the gods.

Including the God of Death, and learned that magic as well. Naruto snapped his fingers, and he summoned a list. It was rolled up, but he unrolled it and flipped it around so that Mirajane could take a look at it.

"... Naruto?"

"Rumors say they died a few days ago, well... I summoned Death's List from a few days ago. If their names aren't on that list, they aren't dead." Naruto passed the list over to Mirajane so that she could hold it.

Thousands of names.

Losts of people died every day, it was a fact of life. Naruto was not obsessed with looking at dead names, so he never summoned the list for any given day. Still, if Mirajane didn't find any of her people's names on that list, they weren't dead. It was a simple fact, though she would need to spend a couple of hours reading the list to see if she could actually find any names on it.

"The rumors..." Wendy whispered.

Everyone was talking about what happened.

"... If they aren't here, they aren't dead?" Mirajane asked as she looked at the intimidating list, unsure if she really wanted to know the answer. If she saw their names on the list, how would she be able to handle it. She was barely holding herself together based on the hope that maybe they got sent to another world like what happened to her sister.

The list was surprisingly heavy to hold.

Mirajane started to read.

-Hours Later-

"... They are alive..." Mirajane whispered with a sparkle of hope in her eyes getting bigger. She had tears of joy streaming down her face when she got to the final names on the list of the dead. "They're alive!" Mirajane gripped the list in her hands tightly.

Naruto nodded, and the list vanished.

That was good news.

"Okay... since they aren't dead... there still isn't anything I can do about it, since they went missing. Since they are alive, all I can do is keep on an eye on if they die." Naruto didn't want to do it, because it was just of weird to check if people were dead or not when he wasn't that close, or even really knew, most of them. Mirajane was still smiling though.

She seemed giddy.

"If they are alive, I'm sure they will come back eventually... this... this eased my heart so much. Thank you Naruto." Mirajane placed her forehead on the table as she bowed to him. She became more serious moments later.

She was one of the very few capable mages in Fairy Tail now.

"Whatcha thinking about?" Naruto questioned her, since she wasn't leaving.

"... Fairy Tail has a lot of bills... a lot, and usually our mages make enough to cover them... Naruto... can I get... an... advance on my pay?" Mirajane asked Naruto with a nervous smile. Fairy Tail as a guild operated almost always in the red, able to just barely pay their bills and pay for all of the property damage they caused as a guild. She wasn't asking for a loan, but if she could get her payment before she did her work that would be appreciated.

It would really help.

"No."

"Oh..." Mirajane had NOT expected Naruto to tell her a flat out no.

"I CAN pay you extra if you put in extra work though, since we're short-handed. We have a contract, and I won't break our contract. Your contract stops me from paying you in advance. Once your contract expires, we can do more negotiations... but I can offer you work on the side I can pay you for, if you work your ass off for it." Naruto was not going to pay any of his models in advance for work they didn't do yet, because Mirajane might get sick, or she might just die due to some accident. That was in her contract that she was paid after she did her modeling after all.

Mirajane tilted her head.

"Extra Work... does my contract allow that?" Mirajane was pretty sure her contract said that she couldn't do that.

"You can't do any lewd modeling with other companies while you model for us, but you are a mage, and I can't restrict your ability to get work. If you, or a few members of your guild, want to help me, that is well within the budget." Naruto stated.

Mirajane smiled.

"That is-"

"Provided that they do not have a history of property damage, I will not hire any Fairy Tail wizards who had contributed to more than 2 counts of property damage." Naruto ruined Mirajane's idea of having everyone in the guild come and help right there.

"You... really don't trust Fairy Tail... do you?" Mirajane couldn't blame him.

It still hurt though.

"This is my guild... this is a nice vacation town, and I don't want anything to happen to it. I can not afford to have people assosiate my guild with Fairy Tail's property damage. So... how many of your guild members fit the requirement?" Naruto asked Mirajane.

He never stopped working on set designed.

"... 4... we have 4 mages, myself included, who fit the conditions... 1 of which is... missing... so 3..." Mirajane couldn't believe how rotten her luck was when it came to an easy money idea just going bad like that. "... what if I tell them not to use magic, and... be super careful?" Mirajane asked Naruto.

"No."

"... How about I work extra hard for the photoshoots?" Mirajane offered giving 150% on her model work.

"I expect that anyway, so no."

"... How about... I sweeten the deal a little?" Mirajane blushed slightly and leaned forward, pulling her shirt down a little to expose even more cleavage to him. If it was for the continued surival of her guild, she would do pretty much anything for them.

"No."

"You even turned down sex!?" Mirajane stood up in shock at that one.

Naruto sighed.

"I'm always going to turn down sex with a woman when she is only offering me sex as some kind of deal. I'm not into feeling like I'm taken advantage of somebody, so no, I will not be changing my mind for sex." Naruto just wasn't that kind of guy. He would have sex with Mirajane if she asked, or if it was for a photoshoot, but that was about as far as that went. Naruto wasn't going to have sex with her as some kind of deal. "... also, if it got out that I used my position to have sex... Lewd Gods reputation would sink. Do you know how hard it is to keep a good reputation when you make porn?" Naruto asked her.

"... Very hard?"

"VERY hard! It is a constant uphill battle, and if it got out... no, when it gets out that I abuse my position to fuck tons of women then people will just think the magazine is an excuse for me to bed beautiful women... so no... I will not be accepting sex as payment for anything." Naruto wanted to keep his guild's reputation as high as possible.

Mirajane could feel sympathy for that.

The sad part was how much it conflicted with her goals of saving her guild. He was helping out by allowing them to do extra work, but he still had the interests of his own guild to look out for, and it conflicted with her interests.

Wendy was walking by, carrying her camera equipment to go practice.

Mirajane clapped her hands together extremely loudly, causing Wendy to trip, and though nothing broke, Wendy was covered in all of the equipment she had been carrying.

"Please, can you loan me a lot of money. Fairy Tail is in the red, since we had to rebuild our guild, and pay back a lot of bills and property damage claims... as a friend!" Mirajane didn't want to have to take out loans from loan sharks that would use any chance possible to take their guild hall from them.

If it wasn't Naruto, then it would be somebody else.

"How much do you need?" Naruto covered his face with his hand.

"700,000,000 jewels."

"... 700,000,000!?" Wendy rolled over in shock when she heard that number, and Naruto just palmed his face when he heard it as well. Just how much deep in bills were Fairy Tail that they needed to make that much money consistently, for Mirajane to be able to pull that number out of her ass so quickly.

"I know it is a lot... and I will literally do anything you ask to earn it!" Mirajane knew they could never make that much money on their own in a month without taking out loans.

Almost all of the top earners in their guild were gone now.

Taking out a loan would be the only way to pay for their bills at this point.

She needed to keep her guild up and running until her friends came back, because she wanted to make sure that they had a home to return to.

"... Fine... but prepare for a pretty... your future contract with us is not going to be nearly as... I'm taking the money out of your future contract." Naruto wanted Mirajane to know that it really was going to be a loan. Mirajane looked at him in actual shock.

He actually agreed.

He actually agreed, and all she needed to do was expect to not get paid as much for future contracts to pay off what she was getting from him. Mirajane walked towards Naruto, and she wrapped her arms around him without a word.

"700,000,000... 700,000,000." Wendy just repeated the number.

Naruto groaned.

'... and there goes literally all of my savings. Damn my bleeding heart... if I didn't give her the money, she was literally going to be taking out a loan with somebody else.' Naruto wasn't going to be using any of the magazine budget for that.

Purely his own savings.

The money that he had invested in his own little side-projects that had returned a profit to him, using his own money to get. All of the profits that he had gained from all of his various investments was about to disappear in a flash. He was going to be emptying most of his bank account out for this, and he wasn't going to be getting any personal benefit from it either.

"Master... will the budget even..." Wendy stopped when she saw Naruto's face.

"... Since this isn't related to the magazine, can't use the budget for it..." Naruto got Mirajane off of him, and he got his checkbook out and wrote a check for her. He signed off on it, and passed it to Mirajane who looked at the check with shock.

"Thank you... THANK YOU!" Mirajane couldn't believe it.

He actually wrote the check.

"... Yeah... don't mention it." Naruto watched as she put the check in her cleavage, and most of his savings went with it. Mirajane had big boobs, but he never expected they would be big enough to hold within them his entire savings like that.

Naruto went from a multi-millionare, to barely having 10s of thousands to his name.

"Naruto... I promise, I will do my best to make sure you never regret this." Mirajane had a lot of business that she had to take care of now.

So she left with that.

"Master... how... are you really even going to be able to get the money back from her contract?"

"... No, I'm not going to punish Mirajane's contract for this. I'm still going to pay her a fair amount, but there was no way she would ever accept the money if she thought I was giving her the money without some conditions." Naruto knew that Mirajane would figure it out soon enough, when they negotiated her next contract.

It would be impossible to hide, but at that point she would have cashed the check and used the money to save her guild. Naruto was sure that he could build up his savings again, but it would be a challenge to do it a second time.

"So... why did you do it?"

"... I just felt it was the right choice to make, and it isn't like I can't get the money back with good investments and hard work... but... damn." Naruto was a little upset at himself for giving away all that money. "On the bright side... I'm pretty sure that Mirajane is going to be the most loyal model we have after that... and who knows, maybe this will get out and our guild's reputation will improve." Naruto had to look at the silver-lining in all of this.

Wendy pat his shoulder.

"... How much do you have left?"

"... About 60,000 jewels... it's... it's going to be a pretty hard month for me until I get paid again." Naruto was going to have to budget himself pretty heavily during this month, though thankfully he only needed to budget himself for 3 weeks at this point.

'... He just... this guy... no wonder he is the Master.' Kagura couldn't help but overhear all of that.

Her image of Naruto went up.
