POV - Neon
"Hello students, my name is Professor Hera, I will be teaching you about the many uses and forms of Dust," Professor Hera told us from her podium.
"How are you feeling," I whispered to Whitley.
"Not entirely here," Whitley whispered back.
"Now I know some of you have questions so please raise your hand now," Professor Hera said.
Whitley raised his hand.
"Yes Mister Schnee," Professor Hera asked.
"Why did you choose to teach Dust Study," Whitley asked.
"Because my semblance allows me to manipulate Dust," Professor Hera answered.
"Makes sense," Whitley said.
"Any more questions," Professor Hera asked.
No one raised their hand.
"Alright, now can any of you tell me how many basic types of Dust there are," Professor Hera asked.
Almost everybody raised their hand.
"Well that's a good sign," Professor Hera said.
She pointed at me.
"There are four basic types of Dust ma'am," I said.
"Correct, now who can name them," Professor Hera asked.
Once more everybody raised their hand. Professor Hera pointed to a student with dirty blond hair.
"Red, blue, yellow, and green," he said.
"Well that is technically correct, that is not the answer I am looking for," Professor Hera said.
Flynt raised his hand.
"Yes Mister Coal," Professor said.
"In the order he said, it would be fire, ice, electricity, and plant," Flynt said.
"Correct," Professor Hera said.
"I could have said that," the boy with the blond hair mumbled.
"Now who can tell me what forms dust can be found in," Professor Hera asked.
Ilia shoots her hand up.
"Yes Miss Amitola," Professor Hera said.
"Dust can be found naturally in two forms, powdered and crystalline," Ilia said.
"Correct," Professor Hera said, "Now who can tell me when Dust was first discovered."
A ginger girl in the front row with hair brighter than my own rose her hand.
"Yes Miss Polendina," Professor Hera said.
"It is unclear when Dust was first discovered, but we are sure it was discovered long before the creation of the four major kingdoms," Polendina answered almost robotically.
"Good," Professor Hera said, "Now who can tell me how we use Dust."
A girl in a blue beret sitting next to Penny raised her hand.
"Yes Miss Soleil," Professor Hera said.
"It is used in four major ways being ammunition, a power source, machines, and vehicles," Soleil answered.
"Good," Professor Hera said.
"We use it for more than just that," the boy from earlier said.
"And how is that Mister Gray," Professor Hera asked.
"We use it as Huntsman to power our semblances and our weapons to charge our semblances and strikes," Gray said.
"That is correct Mister Gray, but if you had waited my next question was how do we use Dust personally," Professor Hera said.
"There are a few more comfort reasons we use Dust, but those aren't important," Whitley said.
"And what are those comforts Mister Schnee," Professor Hera asked.
"Well we use ice Dust in are air conditioning and fire Dust in our heating," Whitley answered.
"That is correct," Professor Hera said, "Now who among you use dust as the main part of your weapon?"
Most of the class raised there hand. As I looked around I noticed that Whitley didn't have his hand up.
'But the circles of fire'
I nudged his shoulder.
"I know what your thinking and no I don't need to use Dust to use my blades," Whitley whispered.
"Mister Schnee, I do believe your weapons need Dust," Professor Hera said.
"They were designed to never need Dust, I was trained to only use Dust when absolutely necessary, the fire Dust I added after thinking about the utility it could add, but the weapon doesn't need it to function," Whitley said.
"I see," Professor Hera said.
"My rifle on the other hand does need it for ammunition," Whitley said.
"As do most," Professor Hera said, "Okay everyone grab your text books and open chapter 1."
(Time Skip because I have nothing else to add to Dust Study right now)
"You have until the end of next week to turn in a short essay on fire dust," Professor Hera said as everyone stood to leave.
"An essay... already," I whined.
"Is that going to be a problem Mrs. Katt," Professor Hera asked.
"Uhhh no ma'am," I answered.
"Uh uh," Professor Hera said.
"Come on Neon, I'll help you if it's really that bad," Whitley said.
"Thanks Whitley," I said before following him out of the room.
"You should complain a little quieter next time," he said.
"Anyway, will you actually help me," I asked.
"Yes but I need you to put actual effort in," he answered.
"Sweet," I said.
"What now, Flynt," Whitley asked.
"We have ten minutes to get to Grimm Study," Flynt answered.
"Shit " I said.
"Get used to it this is our lives for the foreseeable future," Whitley said as he clapped a hand on my shoulder.
"Yeah, but still," I whined.
"I know, trust me, I know," Whitley said.
"Let's get moving," Flynt said as he looked at his scroll.
"I'm gonna make an assumption and say that's a map you're looking at," I asked.
"Yup," Flynt answered.
"Forgot already," Whitley asked.
"Yup," Flynt said.
"I hate this already," I said.
"Oh quit your bitchin'," Whitley said.
Looked at him and mustered the most hurt look I could.
"Still has to be the most surprising thing so far," Ilia said.
"What," I asked.
"Whitley swearing," she answered.
"I'll do anything to give Father the bird," Whitley said.
"To class," Flynt said as he slide his scroll back into his pocket.
"Right, so what type of Grimm do you think he'll start with," Ilia asked.
"Probably something easy like the Beowulf," I answered.
"That makes the most sense," Whitley said.
"Left," Flynt said as we turn a corner.
"We can see you y'know," I said.
"You have a bad habit of not paying attention," Flynt said.
Whitley tried to cover his laugh by breathing out of his nose but failed.
"Rude," I said.
