POV - Whitley
"When do we have lunch," Ilia asked.
"Right now," Flynt answered.
"So what's it like to live in that giant manor," Neon asked.
"It can be a bit much, but it's nice to know that if you pick up a new hobby, there is a room you can dedicate to that hobby," I answered.
"So do you get special meals being a Schnee," Flynt asked.
"No," I answered.
"Oh so you have to eat with us peasants," Flynt joked.
"Oh the horror," I joked.
Our joking made Neon and Ilia laugh.
"So what's on the menu today," Neon asked.
"Roasted chicken, with steamed green beans and mashed potatoes with gravy or steak with a side of broccoli and cheese and asparagus," Flynt answered.
"No fish," Neon asked.
"Not today, sorry," Flynt answered.
"Roasted chicken actually sounds pretty good," I said.
"It does, doesn't it," Ilia said, agreeing with me.
"So do we have a certain spot where we have to sit or do we just pick one," Neon asked.
"We just pick a spot," Flynt answered.
"Oh ok," Neon said.
We stepped into the massive cafeteria and as we continued talking idly about anything that came to mind. We stepped into the line with Neon back on my shoulder.
"So Whitley, I got a question," Neon said.
"Being," I asked.
"How is it being rich," she asked.
"It's been my whole life so I couldn't tell you," I answered.
"But you experienced what it's like to be poor when you were in the mountains didn't you," she asked.
'I need a good lie'
"For two weeks I had to learn to survive on my own, but after those two weeks I was found by a woman who I now owe my life. She taught me a lot of what I know, she taught me how to dress like a normal person, to not appear above others, she taught me how to care for everyone no matter how they treat me, but she also taught me to defend anyone who is in a lesser place than me," I said.
'Not necessarily a complet lie'
I looked at Neon, her face showed deep thought.
'She's really thinking about my words, that might be bad if she finds out'
"That's… a lot," she said.
"Yeah, but if it didn't happen, I wouldn't be here," I said.
I looked around me for a second to try and think of what to say.
"What a load of crap," someone said.
'What'
"If you got lost in the mountains way didn't any one hear about it," the same person asked.
"Actually we did, well at least the important people did," a girl answered for me.
"What is that supposed to mean," the early person asked.
"It means your family isn't considered important to the Schnee family, so your family wasn't told of his disappearance," the girl said.
'She sounds familiar'
"Who the hell are you to say my family isn't important," the guy from earlier demanded.
"Ah yes classic Atlas elitism," Neon joked.
"Yeah," I said.
I looked at Neon who was lost in the argument between the people behind us.
"That girl is defending you like you're the last man on Earth," Neon said.
"Is that jealousy I hear," Flynt asked.
"What n-no it was just a comment, yeah," Neon sputtered out.
"Mhm," Flynt hummed.
"Just ignore him, do you have any more questions," I asked.
"Yes but none I feel like asking now," Neon answered.
(Time Skip brought to you in part Torchwick's Apparel)
"Hello everyone, I am Professor Kronos," Professor Kronos said.
"This is gonna suck," Neon said.
"Rude comments aside, does anybody have any questions for me," Professor Kronos asked.
I raised my hand.
"Yes Mister Schnee," Professor Kronos asked.
"Why did you become a teacher," I asked.
"Because I felt like it," Professor Kronos answered.
"Fair enough," Flynt said.
"Now how humanity came into existence is unknown, but we have a few theories….
(Time Skip)
"He's a good teacher, but history is boring," Neon groaned.
"History is interesting, not fun," I said.
"But still," Neon said.
"Do you have something to add, Miss Katt," Professor Kronos asked.
"No sir," she answered.
"Good, now as I was saying…..
"Ok this is killing me," Flynt said.
"Shhhh," I shushed them.
"Now who can tell me how humanity survived in its early days," Professor Kronos asked.
I raised my hand.
"Mister Schnee," Professor Kronos said.
"The discovery of dust was an imperative part of humanity's survival," I said.
"Correct," Professor Kronos said.
(Time Skip)
"Oum that sucked," Neon complained.
"Well get ready cause we have four years of that in front of us," Flynt said.
"Don't remind me," Neon groaned.
"So what's dinner looking like," Ilia asked.
"I'm going out," I said.
"Where," Neon asked.
"Don't know yet," I answered.
"Can we come," Ilia asked.
"I don't see why not," I answered.
"Sweet," Ilia said.
"When do we leave," Flynt asked.
"In a few hours," I answered.
"Cool, just send us a message," Flynt said.
"I'm gonna get started on this essay," Ilia said.
"I'll join you," Flynt said.
"Have fun," I said.
The two walked off.
"What are you gonna do in the meantime," Neon asked.
"I'm gonna go for a walk," I answered, "Want to join me?"
"Sure," she answered.
I walked in the opposite direction of our room.
"What's on your mind," she asked.
"The mountains," I answered.
"What about them," she asked.
"Everything about them," I answered.
'I know you're just worried about me, but please stop digging
"Anything in particular," she qasked.
"I miss the people, no spoiled brats, no ulterior motive behind every lending a hand, I miss them so much," I answered.
"Sounds nice," she said.
"It really was, but I had to come home," I said.
"Well some good had to come from returning, right" she said.
"Yeah, I guess you could say that," I said.
We walked in silence for some time before we bumped into Ironwood and my sister.
"General," Neon said with a mock salute.
"You don't need to do that," Ironwood said.
"Good afternoon sir," I said.
"How was your first day," Ironwood asked.
"No complaints here," Neon said.
"Good to hear, and you Mister Schnee," Ironwood asked.
"All good here sir," I answered.
"Good, good," Ironwood said.
"How are your fellow students treating you, Neon," Winter asked.
"The usual," Neon answered.
"And you Whitley," Winter asked.
"Suspiciously," I answered.
"Why," Winter asked.
"Pretty sure it has something to do with my disappearance," I answered.
"Sounds about right," Ironwood said.
"Why's that sir," Winter asked.
"Because people don't seemingly drop off the face of the planet without somebody noticing," Ironwood answered.
My sister said nothing in return.
"We should keep moving, have a good day you two," Ironwood said before walking off.
"We'll talk soon," Winter said before following Ironwood.
"Your sister's weird," Neon said.
"Less weird more not to good with people outside of the professional world," I said.
