The morning somehow hit Tess like a train. Her hair, one of her priorities, could've been better. It was tangled and needed a good wash. She knew she didn't have that much time until breakfast was served in the dining hall, but did she even know the time? She struggled to find her watch until someone opened her door. It was Luke, who was wearing a white tank top and plaid pajama pants.
"Good morning, Tess."
"...Good morning..."
"You know that breakfast is almost here, right?"
"...What time is it again?"
"Seven in the morning."
"So I only have an hour to wash my hair?! Fuck..."
"You cuss?"
"...Duh."
Tess jumped out of bed and rushed to the bathroom, pushing Luke aside. She went inside and closed the door, forgetting that she didn't have any clothes with her.

After a struggle, Tess was finally ready. She was applying lip gloss when Luke opened her door, quietly walking behind her. He jokingly scared her, making her scream.
"AH!"
"It's just me, Tess."
"Don't scare me like that!"
"Funny. Anyway, you look pretty."
Luke's smile never fails to give Tess butterflies. Once she looked at him, she knew he was becoming more than just a roomie or performance partner.
"Thank you...when's breakfast again?"
"Eight. And from the looks of it, you're already beautifully dressed."
"...Let's go to breakfast."

Tess felt all eyes on her. She was the newest addition to Camp Star, the daughter of T.J. Tyler, and was talented and beautiful. Once she had breakfast, she went over to where Luke was and sat with him.
"That's all you got?"
"Mhm. I have a weird appetite."
"I can see. Just fruit and no toast."
"Just how I like it, especially since summer, and you need something refreshing."
Tess started to eat her small breakfast, feeling a pair of eyes look at her too. She tried her best to ignore the weird actions portrayed by the guy in front of her but ended up questioning him about it once she was done.
"Did you just watch me eat?"
"...No. I'm not a creep, Tess."
She stored her tray away and returned to the table, only to be met with Luke's precious eyes.
"Why do you keep looking at me?"
"Because you keep attracting me. You're beautiful, Tess, and I hope you know that."
She couldn't believe the words that fell from Luke's mouth. She's been complimented a million times, no doubt about that. But if the compliments are coming from someone who genuinely likes you, then it's different. Completely different. Tess's mouth formed a sincere smile, shining brightly in Luke's eyes.
"Luke, who's this?"
"The newest addition to Camp Star. Dana, this is Tess Tyler, daughter of T.J. Tyler."
"You're her?"
"Mhm. Are you Dana?"
"How did you know?"
"Someone told me."
Dana seated herself at the table and started talking, asking Tess many friendly questions as a start.

Breakfast was over, and everyone was heading to where they needed to be. Since Dana was in the mists of writing songs, there weren't any big rehearsals. So that meant that Tess and Luke could chill out for now.
"Tess,"
"Hm?"
"Whatcha doin' today? You have a free schedule, right?"
"No. I have to unpack, remember?"
"Oh, yeah. I forgot about that. Can I help you then?"
"Sure, I don't mind."
— — — — — —
They arrived at the dorm after a nice walk. They went straight to Tess's room and started the difficult journey of unpacking. Luke knew she would be direct about where her stuff should be, so it didn't come as a surprise when she ordered him around with her clothes.
"Where do I put this?"
Tess looked back, unknowing of how her ass was in a perfect position for Luke's eyes. It was slightly plump, and round—it was everything Luke ever wanted. Yeah, other girls probably have more than Tess does, but he doesn't give a fuck.
"You can put it…are you staring at my ass?!"
Tess turned around, not liking what Luke was doing behind her back.
"...No."
"Luke, don't lie to me. It's obvious."
"If it's obvious, then why are you implying I should tell the truth?"
"Because…you…"
Luke inched closer to Tess, pinning her against a wall she happened to bump into.
"Because what?"
Tess's heartbeat increased, pumping out of her chest for a second.
"Why're you—"
Her door was opening, prompting Tess and Luke to separate from each other, acting as if nothing had happened between them.
"...Put my nightgown in the drawer."

After a long conversation with Dana and more unpacking later, the two (lovebirds) were relaxing in their selective spaces. Tess was taking a nap, and Luke was reading. His stomach rumbled, stopping his reading completely.
"Jeez, don't I need a snack…"
Luke slipped his bookmark between the book pages before closing it, rushing out for a snack. He realized lunch would be starting, so he ran to the cabin to wake Tess up.
"Tess."
She woke up with one light shake, feeling groggy like it was the morning again.
"...What?"
"Lunch."
"Already?"
"Yeah. So hurry up and get your shoes on. We have to be there early to get the best stuff, you know."
Tess tried to put on her shoes but failed, struggling with her shoes. Luke decided to take over and help her.

As Tess and Luke walked their way to the mess hall, they were met with Dana again.
"Hey, lovebirds!"
"We're not a couple, Dana."
"You two would look cute though."
"No, we wouldn't. I would never—"
"Never what?"
Luke suddenly stopped walking and looked at Tess, curious about what she was going to say.
"…Nevermind."

The day kept moving at a nice pace after lunch. Tess and Luke were now rehearsing on the stage with Dana, going over choreography and singing. As they continued, they were met with some intruders from Camp Rock. They stomped to the stage, showing off a very synchronized dance.
"This is a closed practice. What're you doing here?"
"To talk with you guys from Camp Star. See, you guys didn't really give us a chance to answer back the other night. But guess what? That's gonna change. Camp Rock versus Camp Star: The Final Jam."
"Whatchu tryna say, Mitchie?"
"We challenge you guys to the final jam. Whoever wins gets to stay, while the loser has to close down and leave. What do you guys think about that?"
"We shouldn't do that. I mean, we already know who's going to win that."
"You must mean Camp Rock, Tess."
"Why would I root for you guys anymore? You do realize that Camp Star has everything I need to shine, unlike you guys."
"We have everything you guys have, if not more."
Arguing started between Camp Star and Camp Rock until they heard someone come in, no one other than Axel. He heard all of the commotion when he was on his way here, insisting that they were too loud.
"That is a fantastic idea. Truly, I'm impressed. A little healthy competition is exactly what we need. A champion always needs a good sparring partner. But you really think that you can, uh, take my guys on head-to-head?"
"Anytime, any place."
"Maybe, we can use our amphitheater? I'm sure you Camp Rockers don't know how to use it since you're stuck with that mess of a stage but, I'm sure we can show you."
"It doesn't matter where it's held. We just know that Camp Rock is gonna blow you guys away."
"I'm sure an audience would be a better judge of that."
"Bring it on! You can pack it with anybody you want."
"Well, how about a worldwide audience? What if we put this little competition on TV? Have the public decided who's really the best?"
"TV? We'd really get to be on TV?"
"…Uh, guys, I don't really know about this."
"Not such a big talker now, are you?"
"Luke!"
"But that would be so cool, Mitchie!"
"The whole world would see us!"
"…You guys are right. So, it's on."
"Deal."
