Padme's brown eyes shot open. She looked down, and was relieved to find that all of her clothes were on, and untouched. The memory of talking to Vader at dinner quickly came back to her. She remembered feeling strong arms underneath her, supporting her, it made her feel safe. How was it possible she felt safe, for even a millisecond? She was in a strange house with a man who bought her. She was a slave, tears formed in her eyes at the thought. She wiped them away before they could sting. She slowly climbed out of her new bed. She walked to her wardrobe, took off her dress, and carefully put it away. She chose another dress, it was a deep blue color. She placed it on the bed, and ran to take her second shower since arriving here.
After 20 minutes, she jumped out of the shower, and slowly dressed in the deep blue dress, she was tembeling. She took a breath, she walked to the double doors, and hoped they didn't creak. She slowly opened them, and stepped out of the room, she made her way to the turbolift. She jumped when it landed on a floor, and again when the turbolift doors opened she took a deep breath, she exhaled slowly, and stepped out into the hall. This house was like a maze, everywhere she looked there was another room, but she found no exit. She stood still in a big empty space wondering what to do, and how long she had been out of her new bedroom.
"I put you to bed. What are you doing up?" Padme jumped at the sound of Vader's voice. She turned to face him. His eyes were so blue.
"Do I have a specific bedtime?"She replied, sassier than she wanted to.
"No, Padme." He stepped closer to her. He was close enough to touch her, close enough to see the fear in her eyes, the fear she was now a master at hiding. After a long pause he spoke again. "I know you were trying to leave. If you want to leave, leave this room, and go to the hallway to your left. Down that hallway at the end, you will find a door that will lead you outside." Without a word, Padme turned away from Vader's intense blue eyes, and started to walk away. "Of course you have no money." Padme kept walking.. "You have no possessions with you. You have no food. I have some more soup. Would you like some?"
Padme walked back to him. "It's a tragedy that I can bribe you with the promise of food, That tells me that you were starved for a long time. Come sit with me."
"As you wish." Padme responded. You do own me."
Vader turned back to her, his now golden eyes locked with hers. "What?" he asked softly, His voice was soft, but Padme could hear the bitterness in it. She continued despite it. "Or at least you think you do. You bought me. How much did you pay for me? Did you get a good deal? Am I worth it?"She screamed.
"You wanted to stay at the Stardust? You wanted to go hungry? You wanted to sleep on a hard dirty foor? You want people to think they can do anything they want to you in and out of these private rooms, because of where you are, and who they think you are?" He yelled back.
"Yes." She hissed.
"What a pity! I am not apologizing for rescuing you! I took you out of a hell hole, and I would do it again, and again!
"You see yourself as a rescuer? I'm a prisoner. I'm your prisoner! You see me as property! You won't let me leave! You tell me when to eat! You call me what you want to call me! I'm not Padme! My name is Shira, but that doesn't matter to you!"
"You are not my property, and your name is Padme," Vader replied quietly.
"You think you're different from other slave owners, because you gave me a nice room, but you're not!"
"I am extremely pleased that you like your room. You are welcome to come sit with me anytime you wish. I sit in that room every night after my work is done." He pointed to the room he had come out of when he caught her searching for an escape. "You don't have to." He continued, He walked away from her, seconds later she heard a door close.
