Padme ran into her bedroom, and slammed the door behind her. Angry tears spilled from her eyes.I have to be careful, she thought to herself. I can't snap at Vader like that. He has the power to hurt me. He says he cares, but he doesn't. Does he? How dare he pretend to know her!
Her mind traveled back to a week ago. Her stomach had done a flip when she saw Vader's yellow speeder again. He didn't yell at her when she asked if they could walk to the destination. He put her mind at ease, and gently helped her into the vehicle. She was terrified when he lifted the speeder into the air. Vader was a speed demon, she knew that from the first time she rode with him, but he piloted the speeder slowly, and smoothly. Perhaps, he was the greatest pilot in any galaxy. It must have been frustrating for him to move through the sky so slowly. Did he do that for her?
When she exited the speeder, Vader took her arm, and it comforted her. They walked side by side for how many hours, Padme had no idea. After the walk they ate a lunch that consisted of some of Padme's favorite sweets. How did he know her favorite sweets?
Now , standing in the room Vader gave her, Padme tried to calm herself as a realization hit her like a bolt of lighting. She saw Vader, the Sith, as a human being, not as a evil monster. She viewed Vader, the man who owned her as a possible friend, and it terrified her more than anything.
Padme heard a noise at the door, and turned just in time to see Vader fling it open. Before Padme could get out a sound, Vader stepped inside of her bedroom, and walked toward her. "I am sick of your temper tantrums! I have only endured them because I know you have suffered unspeakable things, and I care, Padme!"" Vader yelled inches from her. She quickly backed up 10 steps, afraid his blue eyes were about to turn red. "I am not your captor! You are not my slave!"
Padme backed up another 2 steps, and spoke. "How many other young women have you taken to live with you?" She screamed back.
"None, Padme." He answered instantly, his voice full of anger.
"Why not? Padme asked, loudly, moving her hands as she spoke. "You rescued me right? Why didn't you rescue other young women! I was not the only woman at the Star Dust, and there are other clubs, there have been for years!"
"How do you know that?" Vader yelled, stepping closer
Padme once again took 2 steps back. "I just know!" If you didn't take me here to bed me, then why did you! Why me? Why did you choose me!"
"I don't understand why you can not just be grateful or at least happy! It is not easy for me to care for you! You are easy to care for, but I don't like caring. Padme, I refuse to be weak!" I saw you were happy at that park! I was not happy! I was afraid I wouldn't be able to protect you!"
"Why did you choose me, Vader?"
"I saved you from a hell hole, that is all you need to know, Padme, and that is all I will answer." Vader turned and left the room. He did not close the door. He stood in the hall, looking into the bedroom at a speechless Padme. "Meet me for dinner in 2 hours." He demanded before walking away.
