Chapter 3 – The music teacher's problem
"Finally, today is the day!" Kyogai thought to himself as he was on his way to his music seminar
Kyogai, the music teacher at the Kimetsu Academy, decided to start a music seminar, where he and his students could learn and talk all about music. Most students didn't like his normal lessons, because they thought that they were boring. But if Kyogai were to start a music seminar, then only the ones that were interested in music would come.
"This is going to be great! A whole hour of only me and the students that are interested in music! No more complaining or arguing from those other art-deaf nuisances!" he thought to himself as he stood in front of the door to his class
He made sure he hasn't forgotten anything one last time, and then he opened the door.
"Hello! Welcome to the mu… sic… seminar…" he said in a surprised tone as he walked in
"…"
"…"
"…huh?" he mumbled confused
The room was empty.
…
…
…
At the same time, two girls were on their way home.
"Hey, Nezuko! Wanna do something? I am bored!" said one girl
"Yes! I am free today! How about we get some ice cream?" the other girl replied
"Yeah!" the first girl replied
The two were Makomo and Nezuko. They were classmates and best friends. Makomo was a pretty random girl who loved having fun and spending time with her friends. Nezuko also loved having fun, so if Makomo had a random idea, Nezuko would often join in.
As the two were on their way home, they spotted someone sitting alone on a bench.
"Hm? Isn't that… Kyogai Sensei?" Nezuko asked and pointed at him
"Ye… he looks pretty sad. I wonder what happened…" Makomo replied
In front of them was Kyogai, sitting alone on a bench, with his head hanging down.
"Why didn't anybody show up…" he mumbled to himself
As he was sitting, he heard footsteps coming towards him.
"Hello!" said Nezuko and Makomo as they walked up to him
"Ah…! Hello, girls." he replied and continued beating his drum
"You're the music teacher, Kyogai Sensei, right? Did something happen? You look pretty sad." Nezuko asked concerned
Kyogai took a deep breath and looked at her.
"Yes. I decided to open a music seminar… and nobody showed up. Do people really hate me that much?" he asked
Hearing that, Makomo blinked a few times and Nezuko smiled.
"Ah! No! Nobody hates you, I am sure!" she said, to which he glanced at her
"I love music, and I didn't know that there was a music seminar! Maybe people just didn't know about it?" Nezuko added
"Eh…" Makomo just mumbled as she heard her
"Oh! Then would you two like to join me? We can have a music seminar just the three of us." he asked as his smile returned
"Sure-OH!" Nezuko replied, but noticed Makomo's elbow hitting her
She looked at Makomo and saw her concerned face. Makomo got closer to Nezuko's ear and whispered to her.
"Don't go! I know the reason why nobody showed up! It's because his classes are boring, and he only talks about classical music and doesn't talk about anything cool!"
Hearing that, Nezuko glanced at Kyogai, who was waiting for her answer.
"Ehm… Kyogai Sensei… what would we do in your seminars?" Nezuko asked
"Oh! We would talk about classical music and I would teach you everything about old instruments and their history!" he replied
Nezuko blinked a few times and tried to find the right words.
"Do you… also talk about modern music?" she asked
"No. That is something that I am not interested in!" he replied and beat his drum
Nezuko then glanced at Makomo, who was giving her a I-told-you-so-look. As he saw the two, Kyogai spoke up again.
"Are you not interested in classical music?" he asked in a sad tone
"Oh! No! No! Classical music is… really interesting! It's just that, well… young people are more interested in modern music rather than classical music! Hahaha…" Nezuko replied and laughed awkwardly
Hearing that, Kyogai thought about it.
"Really?" he asked
"Yes! I am sure that if your seminars also talked about modern music, then many students would visit it!" said Makomo
"Hmmmm… I actually never thought about that. You girls may be right…" he said
As he was thinking about it, he suddenly got up.
"Alright, it's decided! We will speak about classical and modern music in the seminar!" he said determined
He turned around and faced the two girls.
"Thank you girls! I will see you next week in the seminar, and it will be a lot of fun!" he said with a smile
Both girls blinked as they heard that.
"Anyway! I need to go study modern music, see you later!" he added and left
After he left, Makomo slowly turned her head towards Nezuko.
"Hahaha… I am sure it's going to be fun… hahaha…" Nezuko laughed awkwardly as Makomo stared at her
…
…
…
THE NEXT WEEK.
"… and then, the Kabuki dramas became all male, after the women have been banned! Pretty interesting, right?" Kyogai asked as he led his seminar, with only Nezuko and Makomo present
"…yeah…"
"Totally…" the two replied
"Alright, let's continue!" said Kyogai and continued his seminar, while Nezuko and Makomo were trying their hardest not to fall asleep…
AUTHOR'S NOTE: Hey guys! Originally, I wanted Nezuko and Makomo to cause some mischief, but then I decided to go with the Kyogai story, because I couldn't think of anything good. Anyway, next time, Zenitsu visits his favorite fortune-teller after school!
