Chapter 20
Warmth wasn't a word you usually could use when talking about Greendale. The gloomy little town had a consistent cold front about ninety percent of the year. No one was bothered by it. In fact, no one seemed to notice. They only noticed when something was different and today was definitely different. The sun felt warm as it shone through her wind. The air gave the room a cozy feeling that made Sabrina contemplate not getting up. She could stay here in this bed all day. With Nick.
She smiled the moment she thought of him and recalled the events of the night before. They had made love several times that night. Each time, ensuring that she was comfortable and satisfied. Eventually they had both passed out for the night and all she could think of was how perfect the moment was. To be there, alone with the man she loved most in the world, without a care in the world.
Sabrina glanced over her shoulder at her boyfriend. Nick was still fast asleep. He had slept spooned against her, his arm draped across her waist to hold her close to him. He looked so peaceful in his sleep. She gently rolled over to face him, careful not to wake him from his slumber. Her entire body was sore, but well worth it. She couldn't take her eyes off him. His usually well groomed hair was in disarray, his curls a little more defined as they swept across his forehead. She ran a finger over his jawline, noticing he was growing a bit of stubble. She couldn't help but wonder how it would feel against her skin.
She blushed a little at the thought. There was so much more she could, would, and wanted to explore with Nick. Not just in terms of sex, but in all aspects of their lives. She wanted to see outside of Greendale. She wanted to travel the world. She wanted to be a strong and powerful witch, like her father had been before her. And maybe, one day, she would want to start a family and teach her children to live up to their potential like her aunts raised her. But most of all, she wanted to do all these things with Nick by her side, holding her hand.
She placed her hand on his chest. The scar there seemed less daunting now. It no longer was a reminder of Nick's near death experience, but of what he was willing to do and how far he was willing to go for Sabrina. She traced her fingertip along the 12 inch scar.
"Don't start something you can't finish, Sabrina," he mumbled in a sleepy haze. She looked up at him and giggled. His eyes were still closed, but after last night she knew that expression very well. "Morning wood is very real. Figuratively and literally right now." Sabrina smiled as she playfully swatted his chest. "Ooo, you know I like that."
"Nick!" she laughed.
He let out a chuckle before slowly opening his eyes. "Now, this I can get used to," he smiled as bent his head to kiss her softly. His lips lingered on hers as he greeted her. "Good morning."
"Good morning," she whispered back.
Nick pulled her body closer to his as he trailed kisses from her lips to her neck. "How'd you sleep?" he asked between kisses.
"Really, um, good," she replied. She was finding it very difficult to concentrate with his lips on her neck. It also didn't help that his hand was moving up and down her back while his erection pushed into her leg. "Nick…"
"Mmhm?"
"What if someone's home?"
"I'd prefer the sex was just us."
"Nick, I'm trying to be serious," she giggled as she reluctantly and gently pushed him away.
He took a deep breath and propped himself up to look out her window that overlooked the front of the Spellman home.
"The hurst is still gone, so you Aunt Zelda is still at the church," Nick said as he laid back down. "If your Aunt Hilda was home, we'd smell breakfast. And if Ambrose and or Prudence were here, they'd be knocking on the door asking for details. Which, by the way, there's no need to give them."
Sabrina shook her head. "Yea, that's a given." They both laughed. "So…we're all alone."
Nick nodded. "Just the two of us."
"In that case," she grinned mischievously as she climbed on top of him, sitting on his stomach just above his erection, "let's see what we can do about this morning wood of yours."
Sabrina couldn't stop smiling as she walked downstairs hand in hand with Nick. They had finally decided to leave her room after their morning activities. It still amazed her how happy and content she was feeling at this very moment. She wondered if this is what normal teenagers felt. No demonic daddies trapped inside her boyfriend or worrying about bringing about an impending apocalypse that could destroy life as she knew it. They were like Hell's version of Romeo and Juliet, except they came back from the dead and went to prom. Oh what it would be to be young and carefree.
They were reaching the bottom of the steps when the front door swung open and Hilda walked in with arms full of groceries.
"Oh," Hilda said in surprise. "Good morning, loves. I thought…I didn't think you two would be here."
Nick and Sabrina glanced at each other. "Oh, well, we…um…" Sabrina trailed off, not sure how to answer. She looked at Nick, begging for his help.
"I was just dropping Sabrina off before I headed home," Nick lied. He hated doing it, but he wasn't about to tell his girlfriend's aunt he took her niece's virginity. "I can help with those Ms. Spellman." He let go of Sabrina's hand and walked over to Hilda, taking the grocery bags from the older witch.
"Uh huh," Hilda replied. She eyed Nick and Sabrina knowingly, letting them know she wasn't buying their story. "Well, why don't you two head to the kitchen and I'll make some breakfast."
The trio headed toward the kitchen to start the day. Nick set the groceries on the counter before going to make a pot of coffee. Sabrina sat at the table as she watched Nick hustle about the kitchen helping her aunt put groceries away. It looked so natural to see him so in sync with the family. It was as if he belonged there. Hilda was shooing him away, insisting he sit while she worked her magic in the kitchen. It was, after all, her specialty.
"Good morning, family," Ambrose greeted as he and Prudence joined them in the kitchen.
"Good morning, Ambrose, I didn't hear you come in," Hilda said from the stove. "Breakfast is just about ready. You and Prudence take a seat."
"Thank you, Auntie. Good morning, Sabrina. How was your evening? Eventful I hope," Ambrose said with a wink as he sat across from his cousin.
"Yes, please let us know if it was satisfactory," Prudence said teasingly.
Sabrina rolled her eyes. "Prom was great," she replied. "It was a blast."
"Oh I'm sure there was a blast," Ambrose said mischievously.
"Guys," Nick scolded as he returned to the table with a cup of coffee for himself and one for Sabrina. He placed Sabrina's cup in front of her and gave her a kiss before taking his seat beside her.
"Oh come now, Nicholas."
"But he already has from what we heard this morning," Prudence grinned.
The smile on Nick and Sabrina's faces faded quickly. "W…wait," Sabrina stuttered, "what do you mean what you heard?"
"It wasn't difficult to hear, cousin," Ambrose said casually.
Sabrina covered her face before turning and burying herself into Nick's shoulder. "Oh my goodness," she groaned.
"It was more like 'oh Nick'."
Nick shot Ambrose a dirty look as he put his arm around Sabrina to comfort her.
"That's enough of that," Hilda scolded as she set a plate of food on the table. "What have I told you two about that type of talk at the table?"
"Sorry Auntie Hilda," Ambrose apologized.
"My apologies, Ms. Spellman," Prudence mumbled looking down at the table.
"But, perhaps, keep it down a tad, loves," Hilda added in a gentle tone.
Sabrina looked up at her aunt. "You heard?"
Hilda nodded. "I left to get groceries. I figured you two would have to be done by then. I had thought you would be done the first 2 times…"
"The first two times?" Sabrina asked in shock as she shot up in her seat.
"Well, I arrived just as you were…arriving. But then it kept going and I couldn't stay for that."
"For Hell's sake," she groaned. She looked down at Nick who was just laughing to himself as he munched on some bacon with a smirk. "And you."
"Me?" Nick asked, looking up confused.
"How can you just sit there eating knowing my entire family heard us having…doing…"
"Sex," they all said at once.
"Babe," Nick called as he took her hand. "They're all just teasing. Well, maybe not your aunt. I'm sure she's horrified as much as you are, but it'll all in good fun."
"Like last night and this morning," Ambrose mumbled unto his cup. Sabrina picked up a muffin from the table and threw it at her cousin. "Don't waste the pastries!"
"Don't talk about my sex life," Sabrina bit back.
"Alright now, that's enough!" Hilda said sternly as she placed her hands on Sabrina's shoulders. "Ambrose, this is an intimate moment that Sabrina and Nicholas want to share with each other and no one else. So we will not speak of it, understood?"
"Yes, Auntie," Ambrose replied with a smile.
"Wonderful. Sabrina and Nicholas, in order to keep these private moments private, let's try keeping it down or in your pants."
Nick cleared his throat and nodded as he replied, "Yes, ma'am."
"Perfect! See, no need to fret my little bird." Hilda kissed Sabrina's cheek and guided her back into her chair. "Now, let's just sit down and have a bit of breakfast, huh?" Once Sabrina was sitting, Hilda went back over to the stove to grab more plates of food. "And the entire family didn't hear, Sabrina. Your Aunt Zelda was nowhere near to hear so she doesn't even know anything happened. I mean, can you imagine what she would say if she found out?" The older witch laughed nervously at the thought.
"If I found out what?" Zelda asked as she walked into the room, toddlers in tow. The room fell silent in an instant. Everyone avoided making contact with the matriarch. "What is going on here?" Silence. "Someone better speak up or so help me Lilith. I will not be ignored in my own home."
"It's nothing, Zelds," Hilda finally spoke up. "The kids were just telling us how much they enjoyed prom last night."
The younger witches and warlocks nodded, mumbling expressions of agreement. It seemed to pacify Zelda. "I suppose," she said wearily. "It is a mortal experience. Once in a lifetime as they say. However, it's nothing like our time honored traditions."
Again, there was a chorus of "mmhm" "yea" and "defeinitely"s from everyone at the table.
"Um, you know, I should probably head home," Nick said uncomfortably. He didn't have to be anywhere, but the daggers Zelda was shooting at the back of his neck were not that pleasant.
"I'll walk you to the door," Sabrina volunteered quickly. The pair stood and headed for the exit, but their path was blocked by a perplexed Zelda. "Excuse us, Auntie…"
"Sabrina, what is that?" she asked, staring at her niece.
Sabrina and Nick glanced at each other. "What's what, Auntie Zee?" Zelda pulled back the collar of Sabrina's V-neck shirt, making the younger Spellman squeal. "Aunt Zelda!"
"Zelds! What are you doing?!" Hilda yelled as she rushed over, swatting her sister's hand away from their niece.
"That," Zelda said, pointing to the darkened patch just above her breast. The purplish skin stuck out like a sore thumb against Sabrina's porcelain skin.
Hilda gasped as Sabrina quickly covered herself up. Nick felt an imminent death approaching as Zelda stared a hole right through him. All the while, Ambrose nearly fell out of his chair trying to hear and see as much as he could.
"That…is concerning," was all Hilda could say about the hickey. "But it is still no reason to expose her."
"Auntie Zee, if I may…" Ambrose started.
"You may not," the older witch instantly cut him off. Her eyes darted between Nick and Sabrina, waiting for one of them to speak up, but neither planned on doing so. "It's happened hasn't it? you two have consummated this relationship."
"Oh dear Lilith," Sabrina groaned.
"Zelda, they don't want to…" Hilda started.
"Nonsense," Zelda once again dominated the conversation. Her eyes went straight to Nick. "Did you use protection?"
"I'm sorry, what?" he asked dumbfounded.
"Pro-tect-ion. A condom. I didn't think that would be a difficult question."
"Auntie Zee!" Sabrina yelled. "We are not answering that."
Zelda seemed to ignore her niece, walking past her to the calendar on the wall. "Was last night a full moon? Fertility is increased on a full moon."
"Fertil…" Sabrina stopped and took a deep breath. "That's enough, Aunt Zelda," she said sternly.
Zelda stopped hurting about the room and turned to face her niece. "I beg your pardon?"
"I said, that is enough. No one other than Nick and myself will be discussing our sex life." Sabrina grabbed Nick's hand and pulled him out of the room and toward the front of the house.
She was beyond irritated. The sheer audacity of her family discussing her sex life as if it were a normal thing. She felt angry, humiliated, and almost violated. They had taken something special between her and Nick and sullied it. Nick could sense that she was upset. Sure it was upsetting and uncomfortable to have her girlfriend's family openly talk about how he just had sex with her, but honestly it was part of who they were as witches. Talking about sex wasn't taboo, it was nature. But it seemed that they all were forgetting something: it wasn't nature to Sabrina. She wasn't just a witch. No matter how they tried to twist it, Sabrina was half-mortal and that part felt shame.
"I can't believe them," Sabrina groaned as they reached the foyer. "Just talking about us like we weren't even there. Ugh!"
"I'm sorry," Nick said gently. "Hey, come here." He pulled her into an embrace, kissing the top of her head. "Don't let them ruin last night for us. You pay no mind to them."
Sabrina melted into his arms. Being in his arms was like this morning when the sun shone through her window. When he held her, she felt warm, comforted…safe. "They suck," she mumbled into his chest."
"They do," he laughed. "But they are still your family."
Sabrina let out a sigh and looked up at Nick. "Do you have to leave?"
Nick nodded sadly. He let her go, slipping his hand into hers as they walked to the front door. He opened the door and grabbed his bag that he had left there earlier. He turned to face Sabrina and leaned against the door frame. "I just have a few things I need to take care of."
Sabrina pretended to pout as she placed her hands on his chest, slowly moving them up to wrap her arms around his neck. "I mean, I have a few things I need you to take care of for me."
Nick groaned. "Have I corrupted that sweet, innocent mind of yours already, Spellman?"
"What are you talking about?" she asked innocently. She rode on her tiptoes and whispered in his ear, low and seductively, "I'm a very good girl."
He closed his eyes and counted to ten slowly in his head. "Mmhm, sure you are." He let out another low groan as she started nibbling on his ear lobe. "Ok, ok. I really have to go."
She giggled as she stopped teasing him and took a step back. "I love you, Nicholas Scratch."
"I love you, Sabrina Spellman." He smiled as he leaned down to kiss her. Their lips met in a soft, slow kiss neither of them wanted to end. "I'll call you later?"
"You better." Nick pushed himself from the door frame. Before he turned to leave, unable to help himself, he gave Sabrina's butt a pinch. "Nick!" she giggled.
"Sorry, couldn't help it. I'll talk to you soon."
They said one more goodbye as Nick turned and headed down the porch steps. Sabrina closed the door and leaned against it, unable to contain a smile. For once in a long time, things felt right. Almost perfect. Almost.
Nick decided to walk home. As cliche as it sounded, everything seemed brighter. The sun was actually visible in the sky. The layer of fog that usually settled around them was gone and it was warm enough you didn't even need a sweater. Is this what mortals felt after sex? But then again, last night wasn't just sex. No. For the first time in his life, he had made love. He made love to Sabrina Spellman.
He did worry that she would be bombarded with more questions about their evening together, but he was sure she would handle the situation accordingly. His evening with Sabrina was intimate and private. He didn't want anyone soiling what it meant to them. Though, he knew why her aunt acted the way she had. He had a feeling that Sabrina didn't. It would just have to be another thing he explained to her about their culture as witches.
As he approached the Kinkle porch, he noticed someone was on the porch waiting. As he got closer, the figure started to come into view. It was Roz. He looked around to see both Mr. Kinkle and Harvey's trucks were gone. Maybe be she was just waiting for Harvey. He adjusted the strap of his backpack on his shoulder.
"Morning Roz," he greeted as he rummaged through his pocket looking for the key to the house. "How was your night?"
"It was ok," she replied. Her voice had a hint of nervousness. It was almost as if she was afraid someone would overhear them.
"That's great," he smiled as he pulled out the key. He unlocked the front door and swung it open. "I just got here, but it doesn't look like Harvey's home yet. I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you waited for him upstairs. I just have to…"
"I'm actually not here for Harvey," Roz said as she followed Nick in the house. "I was looking for you."
Nick dropped his bag on the couch and started looking for something. "Me? Why would you be looking for me?"
"I need to talk to you…about what I told you last night."
Nick froze. There was no breeze, but a chill ran down his spine. He needed to tread carefully. His next questions were very important. "What do you mean?"
Roz sighed heavily and walked closer to her friend. "Nick, seriously, quit messing around. First everyone acts like nothing happened between Billy and his stupid gang of jocks and Theo and now you're acting all weird. You know exactly what I'm talking about. I feel like I'm going crazy, so please don't act like you don't remember."
Nick let out a slow, heavy breath as his head dropped. "Yea, I remember," he said. He slowly turned around and looked Roz in the eye. "But you shouldn't."
***Author's Note: Sorry this one took a little longer. I had hoped to get it up before the weekend, but I got buried at work and vacation didn't go as planned. Anyway, I was wondering what songs you guys think should be on Sabrina's "Must Listen To" list for Nick? Who knows, maybe your suggestion will pop up. Also, self-promo, I'm working on another story. Check it out. It's another Nabrina, but AU this time. It's called Wild Horses. Let me know what you think!
