One week later...

Catherine was standing in the kitchen with her hands on her waist looking at Steve who was crouching down trying to fix the sink plumbing.

"Relax, Cath. I'll fix it, I just need the right tool. Go get some rest, enjoy that the girls are at their grandparents' house." Steve stood up and kissed her on the cheek. "My pregnant in a bad mood," he told her.

"I'm not in a bad mood, I'm tired, I'm in a nagging pain," she replied.

"I'll fix the plumbing, I'll clean the kitchen and provide dinner. Go get some sleep, please. I can't work with you looking at me like that."

Catherine sighed. "OK. I'm going to our room." She was totally out of patience that day.

Catherine went into the bedroom and lay down and Steve went to the garage to get the tool he needed to complete the job. When Steve turned on the garage light he caught Don and Maggie kissing voraciously. "What's going on here?" Steve spoke up and they were startled.

"I need to go home," Maggie was embarrassed and quickly left without looking at Steve.

"Can you explain this to me, Don?" Steve said to his son.

"We were just dating, that's all."

Steve ran his hand through his hair and took a deep breath. "And what would have happened if I hadn't come in here?"

"None of the things you're imagining," Don replied.

"Don't play with the girl's feelings, Don. You know you're leaving. I just haven't taken you to your aunt's house yet because Catherine is going to give birth any day now and I'm not leaving her home alone with the girls."

"I'm enjoying Maggie, Dad. Let me stay home, please."

"I don't trust you anymore, Don. What you did to my wife is unacceptable. "

"I apologize to her," Don quickly replied.

"Apologies that aren't sincere? Apologies just to favor you? That's not an apology."

"Please, Dad. I'm your son too."

"Emotional blackmail?" Steve said to him.

"I really like Maggie," Don said after some time of silence as Steve looked for the tool.

Steve sighed, "OK, Don. You will apologize to Catherine and you will treat her and your sisters well, including Liz. The first time you don't treat them right, you're going to Mary's."

"OK," Don replied.

"And you really need to be a better person, son. Do you think Lidia and her husband are going to want Maggie dating a troubled boy?" Steve put his hand on Don's shoulder. "I love you and I care about you, my son. Think it over, OK?'

"So you will let me stay?" Don asked him.

Steve agreed. "Under the conditions I quoted."

"Thanks," Don told him and left the garage.

Steve grabbed the necessary tools and went back into the kitchen. He fixed the plumbing, cleaned the kitchen and heard Catherine screaming for him. He quickly climbed the stairs and went to the bedroom. "What happened, Cath?"

"I'm in a lot of pain, Steve. I think it's time to take me to the hospital, please!"

"OK." Steve took the bags with Catherine's and Liz's clothes and helped her get dressed quickly to go to the hospital. He also called Margaret and asked her to stay with the girls.

"All right, Steve. Tell Catherine I wish her good luck and a good delivery."

"What is it, Grandma?" Lyla asked.

"I think your little sister is going to be born, " Margaret replied.

Lyla smiled and was excited. "I'm going to tell Carol!" She hurried out to the garden to tell Caroline. Caroline was talking to Maggie's brother on the phone.

"Carol! Carol! Liz is coming!"

"Really?" Carol asked Lyla.

"Yes, Grandma told me. I want to go see Liz, Carol."

"You can't go there, Lyla. We have to wait for Daddy to take her home."

"Yes, I can, Carol. Take me to see Liz and Mommy!" Lyla's eyes filled with tears.

"What's going on, Carol?" Edward asked as he heard Lyla crying through the phone.

"My sister is going to be born, I need to go talk to my grandmother. I'll talk to you later, Edward."

"OK. I'll look forward to that. I'll tell Lidia that your stepmother's baby is coming," Edward replied and ended the call.

Edward got along well with his stepmother Lidia and this made Caroline see that she could have a good relationship with Catherine as well. She regretted that she had treated Catherine so badly at times. She entered the house with Lyla and went to her grandmother who was sitting in the living room.

"Grandma, is it true that Catherine has already gone to the hospital to have the baby?"

"Yes, Carol. Your father asked you and Lyla to stay here. I tried to convince Don to come here too but he doesn't want to."

"And he's staying home alone?" Carol asked.

Your father said he has plans for him," Margaret replied.

Don called Maggie and called her over to his house and told her he was home alone. "Come watch a movie with me."

"My brother already told Lidia that Catherine has gone to the hospital so she knows that your father is not home."

"Really?" Don was disappointed. He was even more disappointed when he opened the door to Danny a few minutes later.

"My dad's not home, Uncle Danny."

Danny walked past him and into Steve's house. "I know, and that's exactly why I'm here. I'll be your babysitter while your dad is in the hospital with Catherine. "

"What? Come on, Uncle Danny, I don't need a babysitter."

"That's not for you to decide." Danny went to the kitchen, grabbed a beer from the fridge, then sat down on the couch, turned on the TV, and relaxed.

A few hours later...

Catherine had been holding Liz on her lap for over twenty minutes and couldn't stop looking at the baby. "She is my dream come true, Steve...I am so grateful to God for that."

Steve approached the bed and smiled. "Can I take my baby on my lap now?"

Catherine smiled. "Sure, Steve. I'm kind of monopolizing her, aren't I?"

"Yes, you are." Steve smiled again and picked Liz up off Catherine's lap. "Come with Daddy, Liz. Daddy's so happy you're here. Welcome to the McGarrett family."
