Kabal gave a disturbing, mucus dislodging cough as his eyes snapped open. Dust, and smoke were dancing together, carelessly around him. His body ached moreso than ever before, and a deep internal pain in his ribs had him fearing of internal damage. He screamed in agony as he tried to lift the heavy ceiling tile he was trapped under. He pushed as hard as he could until his pain made him collapse again under the rubble. He would die here, never to face Mavado, and enact revenge for his brother's death. His thoughts shifted to Devlin. Under the ruins of this skyscraper, Kabal had found some sense of peace. He would be reunited with his family. No more pain, no more war, no more treachery, just peace. He laid still, and didn't even try to move. He would face death willingly. He closed his eyes, and did his best to try, and block out the sounds of war. Then he thought of Kano.

His eyes snapped open again as he recalled the events prior to the building's tumble. How did Kira come to the conclusion that Tasia was a traitor? Both Kano, and himself haven't spoken a word about the situation to anyone. Nobody knew. Kano could have told her, but as much as Kano liked to boast, and brag he would never have been stupid enough to tell anybody about something so damaging. There was a traitor, and Kira had exposed herself! It was her! Kabal believed it strongly. Kano had been taken in, and fooled by her false innocence! He's in danger! Kabal tried to sit up, and used all of his remaining might to again attempt to push the tiles off of himself. He shouted again in unison with sounds of his bones popping.

"Over here! Quick!" Called out a familiar voice. Kabal struggled with the weight of the tiles, until a pair of hands met the top of it, and pulled back. Kabal saw Jarek's dust lined face looking down at him. Kabal gave a sigh of relief as he fell flat. Jarek knelt down, as Johnny Cage, and Jackson Briggs came into view around him. They looked just as ravaged, if not worse than Jarek did.

"Kabal! How bad is it?" Jarek shouted worriedly. Kabal gave out a gritted moan.

"It's bad." Fresh air hit Kabal's lungs, but it hurt like hell to breath.

"Kano?" Kabal asked, turning his head to look at where Kano, and Kira would have landed. They were nowhere in sight.

"We've been looking, but we can't find him!" Johnny answered.

"Oh no!" Jarek sounded as if he was pleading as he launched to his feet.

"Oh no, no, no, no! Tasia!" He shrieked as he ran. Kabal turned his head again, and what he saw hurt a thousand times worse than falling from a skyscraper. His vision could make out Tasia. She was laid on her stomach, and at where her head should have been was a large slab of red colored concrete.

"Noooo!" Jarek cried as he tried to lift the solid block. Jax quickly came to his aid, and together they lifted it to reveal a mangled, gory mess where Tasia's head had used to be. Kabal closed his eyes, and let the tears fall. Jarek suddenly collapsed beside Tasia's body. Kabal couldn't believe it, but he wouldn't dare to turn his eyes back to her. Kabal was just there talking to her. Trying to calm her down. That couldn't have been the last time they'd ever talk! Not like this! Not Tasia! The situation around them was becoming increasingly more dangerous. Missiles were being launched at the surrounding buildings, causing them to crumble. Jax had grabbed ahold of Jarek, and began guiding him forward.

"We'll come back for her later, but for now we have to move!" He commanded. Jax darted to Kabal, and pulled him from the ground. Walking hurt, even with Jax supporting him. Kabal's mind was a wreck. He felt lost, hurt, confused, and tired, but what was keeping him going was Kano. He had to get to Kano, and make sure he was alright. The four of them made their way aimlessly through the warzone. There was still no cease in the fighting. Blood stained almost every inch of the ground. Bodies littered, and piled up as the carnage continued to unfold. Kabal even glanced up to see that damn dragon still circling about. He wasn't surviving this one. He knew it deep inside. He was going to die today, and he accepted that, but he wouldn't accept to perish without reaching Kano first.

Sub-Zero had stumbled his way into the group's sights. His once blue garb had become drenched, and discolored by blood. His mask was lined, and cracked. Kabal, and the others saw him squaring off with group of Tarkatan monsters. One was instantly encased by a blast of ice, and as another charged at him, Sub-Zero forced the Tarkatan through his frozen comrade, shattering him into pieces. Kabal took note of how the new Sub-Zero moved around his enemies. He was skillful. Sub-Zero grabbed the Tarkatan by it's back, and froze it's neck before violently tearing it's head from it's shoulders.

"Sub-Zero! Update!" Jax shouted after Kuai had finished his enemies. This new Sub-Zero turned to face them. He had lost his blue mask in the fighting. His slicked back hair was drenched in blood.

"Shang Tsung is still down by the far bridge. He's got Erron, and his bandits holding off the Red Dragon. He's preparing a ritual." Sub-Zero's frosted breath emitted through his lips.

"A ritual?" Johnny asked.

"What is he doing?" Jax followed up with a stern look.

"I am not sure. He showed me a vial. Green. He said he has a surprise for Shao Kahn." Sub-Zero answered.

Kabal did not trust the actions of Shang Tsung conducting rituals, but the situation was becoming incredibly dire.

"Didn't happen to see Sonya anywhere is this mess did you?" Jax asked.

"Or Kano?" Jarek added.

Sub-Zero shook his head grimly.

"What's our plan? We'll die if we keep going on like this." Johnny said as his eyes wandered out towards the blazing city before them.

"Shao Kahn has still not appeared. Perhaps Shang Tsung's ritual will draw him out?" Spoke Sub-Zero.

"I need to find Kano...warn him." Kabal's strength was wavering.

"We need to stay alive. We should head to Shang Tsung, and see what his ritual could do for us." Jax commanded. Kabal didn't have time for that.

"No!" Kabal grunted as he pushed Jax away. Kabal wobbled on his feet, and almost fell over. He slowly began limping through the hellish inferno that had been raging around them.

"Are you crazy? You'll die out there!" Johnny yelled, as Jarek ran up beside Kabal, and put his hands on his shoulders. Kabal immediately pushed them away.

"Kabal stop!" Jarek screamed.

"Kira's a Red Dragon spy Jarek!" Kabal gasped loudly as he continued his limping away from the group. Jarek appeared stunned by this revelation.

"What?" Was all Jarek could say. Kabal's limping was halted by a sharp pain in his ribs. He bent over, grabbed his stomach, and bellowed softly. Once the pain stopped, he lifted his head up and turned back to the group.

"Up in the building...She talked about there being a traitor in the gang. She accused Tasia...She couldn't have known me, and Kano had been talking about it secretly." Kabal explained. Kabal could tell that Jarek was lost for words.

"She's with Kano right now, and if we don't find him, the Red Dragon will kill him!" Kabal looked at the rest of the group. Johnny suddenly gasped.

"Guys what the fuck is that?" Johnny pointed his finger at the fire blazing in the distance.

Kabal turned back, and saw a strange, robotic like figure walking unscathed through the flames.

"What the hell?" Kabal's eyes watched as the red figure marched stiffly to a halt.

"Sektor!" Sub-Zero screamed aloud.

The robotic figure spread it's arms backwards, and instantly it's chest began to move. Kabal squinted his eyes as he observed the transformation. Kabal saw the silver missile dart from it's chest, and etch towards him. It would be the last thing he ever saw.
