{~(Past, 5 Years ago)~}
"You! How could you...I thought you loved me!"
"I thought YOU loved ME! How could you do something like that! We've been together for eons!"
"YOU'RE THE ONE WHO WASN'T FATEFUL! This would have never happened if you kept your promise to me."
"How could you say that, Fiola!? I DID keep my promise, unlike you...just like she said..."
"SHE!?...I should've never trusted you, Des. You went and break my heart, now I'm going to break you..."
"Not before I break YOU!"
"STOOOOP!"
...
...
{End.}
F-Fiola? Des? Who the heck are they!?
It was apparent I said it out loud since the moment I looked back, Moltres was eyeing me as if I asked a stupid question. Probably did.
"Don't play dumb with me, Fiola! I can spot your light anywhere!"
"Then how are you just now finding us? Lave scoffed, rolling his eyes. Usually, everyone would try and stop me from saying stuff, but Lave saying that? Unheard of and judging by Moltres' face, I knew we were screw'd.
"Don't you dare try and make a fool out of me, Des! You may not be dead, but you have no right to speak to ME like that!"
Realizing he said too much, Lave scrambled to his feet and jumped out of the way of the fireball hurled at him by Moltres. The sheer size of that thing, it was no wonder it sounded like an Electrobe went off down the mountain earlier. It was massive!
"Alright, What's the plan?" Miya said, fishing for ideas. Pumpkin took a few steps back.
"Uh, RUN?!" He said, trying to head back the way we came, only for Miya to grab his tail before he could get anywhere.
"Pumpkin, stop! I know this may sound weird, but I think that Pokemon might be the one we need to talk to."
Unwilling to listen, Pumpkin continued throwing a fit, clawing at the ground only for Miya to hold him in place (She's strong!). Annoying at the shenanigans taking place in front of it, Moltres huffed and began charging a Fire Blast. Seeing it, Pumpkin gave in and fell to the ground. "F-Fine! But how in the world are we going to talk to it if it's trying to kill us!?"
Realizing what needed to be done, Miya let go of him and walked towards the flaming bird. Moltres, unwilling to yield, continued charging before suddenly stopping upon the sound of Miya's voice.
"Hey, I know you're upset we're here, but could we talk for a moment?"
Extinguishing the flames, Moltres eyed Miya. "Talk? There's nothing to talk about! Anyone who trespasses upon my domain gets the death penalty!"
"Wait, wait! We were sent here."
Moltres got closer, turning its head to the side as one eyes zipped around, scanning Miya thoroughly. "...Hold on a moment, aren't you James' Daughter?"
"James? You mean my dad, Lugia?"
"YES, your father!" Moltres squawked, spitting flames everywhere. It was a miracle that none of it touched Miya as she stood there, trying not to show any fear. Too bad you could see her leaf shaking. "There's no other Lugia by that name! Especially one with a Chikorita for a daughter. Did he send you here!?
"Well, uh, no. You see-"
"I Knew it! What does he want!?
"What? No. We, uh...w-we uh..."
"I bet he wants to take over my position, DOESN'T HE?!
"NO! NO! We-"
"Well, that conniving fiend of your father will have to pry it from my cold dead-"
"CHATOT!" Miya yelled before covering her mouth. Realizing she got it's attention, she cleared her throat. "S-Sorry about that. We were sent by Chatot. He told us to come here."
"Chatot!? He sent you here!? Why in bloody h-...Oh. Oh nooo. No, no, no, no. T-There's no way it's already been 5 years! Moltres said, shaking it head frantically. "YOU'RE LYING!"
"No, It's true! We have proof! He gave us a letter that told us to come here! I have it right h-"
My heart sank as Miya reached for the bag. It was gone. Just...GONE! There was no trace nor even a sign of it as we looked around frantically. If we weren't screw'd before, we were definitely screw'd now.
"UGH! That is IT! Enough games! I don't care if you're the daughter of that overgrown pidgey, I'm not above turning you into ash!" Before Moltres could unleash the flames from its mouth into Miya's face, Lave rushed in between them and launched a flamethrower of his own, causing a clash. This gave Miya enough time to gain some distance before Moltres' fire overpowered Lave, blasting him back a few feet.
"Ugh, well, that hurt..." He said, trying to pick himself up off the ground. I ran to his aide in concern.
"You alright? I think you took some damage from that blast..."
"What makes you say that?"
"Well..." I pointed to his linings. Somehow not noticing it, Lave looked and realized the edge of it was burned. As he touched it, the scorches singed his hand on contact
"Lave, I thought you were already Fire-Type."
"I am, but this isn't just some Pokemon we're fighting. This is a Guardian."
"What?" Confused, I look at the Moltres again. I expected it to attack us by now, but thankfully Miya ran back in to try and keep it busy, throwing Razor Leaves, one after another; It wasn't very effective. Every leaf that went near Moltres' turned to ash on the spot. Even the air seemed like it was catching fire as the flames covering the bird intensified.
"...There's no way we can take it down. We need to escape."
"What...? Hold on, what did you just say?"
Lave turned his face away from me. "Liloxi, this isn't some average pokemon we're dealing with. This is one of the protectors appointed by the High Guardians and Overseers. We don't stand a chance against a Pokemon like this. We're better off going back."
In disbelief, I took a step back. Lave never gave up on anything back when we were kids. He was always so kind, caring, and brave, and would do anything to protect others. But at that moment...I-I never thought I would hear those words come from his mouth.
"Lave, What happened to you? What happened to the Ralts that I always admired? I thought you were fearless, ready for anything. I guess I was wrong..."
Before he could say anything, I shook my head and charged at Moltres.
"I can't believe him. That isn't the same Lave I once knew.*Sigh*...Mom, I'm sorry, but it looks like I'm going to have to break that promise I made to you once again..." With that, I sunk into the shadows. Before Moltres could suspect anything, I leaped out in front of it and Sucker Punched it square in the face, enough to stagger it but do little damage.
"Ugh! That was a cheap shot even for you, Fiola, Especially in the inferior form! A Buneary, GAH! You shouldn't be able to use that move! And you're not even in Overflow!? This goes against the natural order!"
Annoyed, I shot an Ice Beam, hoping to get a good hit on it, only for it to clash with a sudden Flamethrower. Although I'm proficient with Ice-Type moves, Molres' fire was still too much, resulting in the flamethrower overtaking my Ice Beam. In the nick of time, I jumped out of the way, only managing to catch the tuff on my ear on fire in the process. Annoyed, I quickly put it out and walked up to the bird.
"Alright, first of all, who the heck is Fiola! Second, I AM NOT A BUNEARY! I'm a SNORUNT! And third, if you just took a second to hear us out-"
"WHY THE HECK SHOULD I HEAR ANY OF YOU WORMS OUT, ESPECIALLY YOU FIOLA! YOU AND DES CAUSED ALL OF THIS!
"Huh? Caused all of wh-"
"HEY! Which one of you jerks threw a Blast Seed at me and hit me with Flamethrower!?
Baffled as to who was speaking with the uncanny accent, I turned around and noticed an Ariados entering the room. Outside of his voice, he seemed like any other Ariados except with visible Burns and an explosion mark on his abdomen.
"One of you better speak up now or I'll ...or...I'll..." his voice trailed off as he finally noticed the enraged, flaming bird glaring down at him from the center of the room. He then turned his attention to the battle-worn terrain, then at us before looking back at Moltres. There was confusion and fear written on his face.
"What's going on in here...?
"NOTHING THAT INVOLVES YOU!" Moltres snapped, "Residents of Mt. Bristle are not allowed to be up here unless I say so! I suggest you leave."
"B-But I was attacked by these guys!"
"And that's the price to pay in exchange for me to give your kind food, water, and shelter. You protect my fortress, I protect you. You knew full well that enemies are lurking in every corner."
"Then I should be the one to confront them!"
"Confront them? First you fail to keep them off my domain and now you have the nerve to come up here make demands!?"
"Wait a sec, we're not enemies!" Miya intruded as if she wasn't already dangerously close to Moltres. I was surprised she didn't go up in flames by now.
Ignoring her, Moltres walks over us and approaches the Ariados. As it leaned over, it gave the Ariados a very stern look. The Ariados took a few steps back.
"This is the only time I'm going to say this: Go. back. INSIDE. One more word out of you and I will MELT you where you stand!"
Ariados, now shaking in fear, took a quick look at us, then back at Moltres. Gritting his mandibles, he took a deep breath.
"...To face them instead of you, it'll be worth it!"
"*Gasp!* THEN YOU SHALL PARISH WHERE YOU STAND!"
"NO!"
In a flash of rage, the Moltres flared up and let loose an Overheat. With no time to think, we dived behind the closes rock to keep the Overheat from doing some serious damage to us. The flash-fire caused anything that was remotely flammable to instantly go up in flames. This made the bridge look like it was on fire before the snow put it out.
peaking out from behind the rocks, we were unable to see anything past the steam except Moltres' flames and a strange whirring sound coming from the same direction. What was even more strange what the fact the snow around the area didn't melt; some of it was even on fire. (Snow can burn too? I thought it melted...)
As the steam lifted, my heart began sinking as I expected to see charred remains of an Ariados.
I was wrong.
Getting a better look, Moltres was hunched over, holding one of its wings in pain. By the entrance, the Ariados was still there with an odd, static barrier around it. In front of the Pokemon was Pumpkin, standing on his hind legs and paws up. The Barrier was his. As heroic as he had looked, his legs were shaking uncontrollably, but it was awesome!
"First Fiola and Des show up after all these years in such ridiculous forms, and now I'm expected to believe there's a Shinx that can use Charge as a SHIELD!? No...I am done playing games..."
Moltres covered its body with its wings. Around us, the temperature suddenly began to drop as the air rapidly froze without warning. However, there was something off about it. Although I could feel the frost in the air, it also felt like it was burning me. No, this wasn't frostbite. Imagine being in the middle of a blizzard, but you're sweating and your skin feels like it's melting. It was unbearable.
As the air continued to in intensify, Moltres, in a loud shriek, spread out its wings and a burst of shimmering light enveloped the bird with Ice shards covered its body like jewelry. The flames, originally covering its body, dance around the shards in a fine display, like an elaborate ballet. As it danced around, it burned bright, going from a lovely deep blue to the infamous yellow-orange we all knew and feared. Above Moltres' head were two interlocking Tiaras, each sporting its own jewel-embedded elemental gem, shining bright like a Diancie in the light of a full-moon.
Despite how beautiful Moltres was, the look of death was written all over its face as it prepared a very strange red and blue beam from its mouth, aiming it at Pumpkin and the Ariados.
"We have to do something and quick!" Miya panicked.
"Like what!? Lave exclaimed, "As I've said before, this is a Guardian! We don't stand a chance!"
"I wish it would just chill out," I said, biting back at Queen's negativity. He shot me a look to which I glared back. On the other hand, Miya's eyes widen.
"Wait a minute. Chill. No chill...I've got it!"
"What?"
Before I could ask anything else, Miya darted towards Moltres.
"Never have I been pushed to these limits by some measly Pokemon is my LIFE!" Moltres screeched in utter disgust, "NOW YOURS WILL END FOR HUMILIATING ME! DIE!
"HOT JILL!"
As Miya shouted those words, a shockwave blasted from her mouth with such force, it knocked not only Moltres on the ground, but also completely cracking the back wall of the entrance while somehow unharming Pumpkin and the Ariados. The shockwave was strong enough to cause cracks and large chunks of the room to fall, all while surprisingly keeping it intact.
"Woah..." I said, walking out from behind the rock with Lave following close behind.
Bewildered, the Moltres form dissipated and looked at the shattered wall then at Miya.
"T-the power in your voice, what was that? A-And those words...only my brother knows the secret words...
"Yeeeaaah, I'm not sure what that was, but uh...Sir?"
"S-Sir?" Moltres said distastefully.
"Uh, Miya I think you mean Ma'ma. Trust me, She had two tiaras above her head," Lave whispered, trying to play it cool. I knew he was just as curious as I was. Not once did he stop looking around at destruction.
"Oh, sorry. Ma'am, Chatot gave us a letter saying you may have the 'answers' we're looking for. Also, Chatot is your Brother?"
"Hmph, I guess he never told you all. Figures. Always keeping secrets and leaving me to tell them. This time, however, makes sense." Getting up from the ground, Moltres shook herself off and walked to the large, bowl-like structure. As expected, she sat down, crossing one leg over the other, revealing it to be her throne.
"Apologies for my rude behavior. It happens. Let me re-introduce myself. My name is Elizabeth Areostine, The Frozen Phoenix. Guardian of Mt. Bristle. We have a lot to discuss."
