It's been a few days since the incident with the Wizard I guess he was more like a demon and Eda was consistent when it came to assuring her new Human apprentice. No one could blame Luz for what happened, she was brand new to not only the area but magic and demons in general. Over the last few days, she had been teaching Luz all about the different demons on the isle with the help of King and Hooty, Luz could tell that King was more than happy to be going over the finer details of all the demons that surround them. I can't imagine what he's feeling, its hard that he doesn't know what he is, he has so many demon books... Luz couldn't help but feel sympathetic to King but assured him every chance it wasn't a bad thing to be one of a kind. Eda had also taken the time to show her more spells, not that she could recreate any, but she kept a video of Eda doing a few 'basic' spells on her phone. She would occasionally rewatch them, hoping to notice something, anything that would allow her to recreate the spell.

Luz and King were sitting in the living room, Luz had a notebook and pen in her hands giving King her full attention as he went over one of his favourite demons. "The SnaggleBack" He declared, pointing at a board the two of them had set up to help Luz as she was more of a visual learner. "Is one of the deadliest of all demons, I would give an arm to have them in my army! They are rare to see-" King was cut off sharply as Hooty slid in between them, facing Luz with those big brown eyes. They almost freaked her out a bit. "The snaggleback was in my closet remember Luz!? I told you I would tell you this story when we first met, oh it was such a great day! Well, not really it was pouring acid rain and -"

King stomped his foot and cut Hooty off with a loud "Weh!" which got both Luz and Hooty's attention back on him. "This is my lesson Hooty, get out of here!" He was pointing his teaching stick at Hooty, who was oblivious to the tension he had caused. "Well, if he has a story about the SnaggleBack don't you think this is a great opportunity to learn more?" Luz offered to King, it was clear he was upset at the idea at first, but he gave a small sigh and nodded. "Yeah okay, but you have to take notes!" With that he jumped down and took a seat in Luz's lap, staring at Hooty expectantly.

" GASP Y-you mean it?" Hooty shrilled looked at the two, his eyes getting bigger, if that was even possible. "Yes, hurry up before I change my mind!" King yelled, crossing his arms. Luz couldn't help but chuckle at the two of them, "I'm ready!" she said happily, preparing to write notes on the story. Hooty cleared his throat and began, using his magic to turn the lights down low in the living room. "It wasn't all too long ago, King you were still a pup, napping most of the day away, Eda was busy setting up the barrier around me as the acid rain fell." His expression got dark, and his eyes narrowed, worming his way to tower over the two, the lowered lights casting an ominous shadow over his face.

At first Luz was excited at the idea of the story, but as Hooty got into the retelling her face fell a bit and she could feel her heart rate increase. I know this was a while ago but... still freaky to think that demon was here, I mean, obviously everything is fine... So no worries. Noooo worries. she nodded along to the story. "At first I thought it was just the wind, a window had blown open in the attic causing glass to shatter, the very room you stay in today, Luz." Hooty eyed her before continuing his story, the girl swallowed shallowly. Oh come on, my room!? she cursed in her head. "I didn't want to cause Eda anymore problems, she was busy enough making sure my shingles were protected and that no acid rain got down to my stucco. So! I investigated the room myself, quickly fixing the window and moving to slither back downstairs, however before I could even go back to the doorway... movement in the corner of my eye caught my attention!" Hooty yelled the last part, causing King and then Luz to jump a bit.

"I had to play it cool... If I was too fast I might spook it even more, I could hear heavy breathing coming from the closet along with a low growling sound." Hooty was inching closer to their faces at this point, adding dramatic effect. Before he could continue his story, the trio heard a loud smash from upstairs. "Ah!" the three yelled in unison. "Titan! Hooty, you don't need to recreate the scenes!" King yelled, standing up with a paw raised. "Hoot!? That wasn't me!" the bird protested, slinking back slightly as there was another loud knock from upstairs and WAS THAT A SCREAM? Luz thought frantically, jumping to her feet, body turned in the direction the sound was coming from. "EDA?" Luz yelled into the dimmed house. She turned to Hooty, hoping he could put the lights on for them. However, as she turned to look at him she saw something in the doorway of the house, it was massive. She couldn't make out defining features but the sight of it made her blood run cold, her face flushed, and she could only stammer out a few words her finger pointing to the door. "I-It … d-d-door. Hoot!" Not even a split second after she had lifted her finger to point at the massive figure, Hooty was ripped towards the entrance. The front door slamming closes.

Luz suddenly kicked into auto pilot, she heard Hooty yelling at the monster incoherently and the lights in The Owl House suddenly went completely dark. She scooped King up and bolted as fast as she could up the stairs to her room, King was clutching her chest tightly, eyes wide with tears and horror. "Hooty!" He yelled, "What was that!" Luz didn't have an answer and she didn't know what to say, she just needed to make sure they were both safe. She was thankful for her speed; she was well ahead of whatever that was and hoped it would give her ample time to hide her furry companion. "It'll be alright King, I-I just need to get you some place to hide" She tried her best not to stutter, she didn't want to show her fear. She knew that King was scared, probably the most scared she had ever seen him with how tightly he was holding onto her green jacket. At first, she was going to take him to the attic, but she could hear the – whatever that thing was – not as far as she hopped behind her. Before King could protest, she ripped him away from her chest and pushed him into the small hallway closet just outside the bathroom, it was filled with soft linen, towels and bed sheets. There was no locking mechanism on the door, so she made due with what she had, taking the wedge they used to keep the bathroom door open and wedged it into the bottom of the door. Hoping this would stop King from getting out. She could hear his protests and leaned into the door to beg him to keep quiet, after that he was silent, holding himself in the darkness of the closet.

Luz could see the huge shadow down the hall from her, her head was pounding with her heart, every alarm bell her body had was ringing, yelling at her to get away. She turned on her heel and ran towards the end of the hallway, debating if she wanted to climb into the attic or if she should hide in the bathroom. But where? Her choice was made for her as a screeching cry was let out by the monster, It absolutely knows where I am! Luz panicked and decided to dive into Eda's room instead, the door was closest to her, and she could hide in the closet, however she was terrified of what she might see. She knew it had been Eda that screamed a few moments ago. As she launched herself into the old witch's room, the only thing that surprised her was the large window was broken and the were massive scratch marks on the floor, along with some feathers. She shook her head and turned to her closet, quickly running in and shutting the door over, scooching herself as far back as she could, not stopping until she felt the slightly cold wall.

Luz could hear the steps getting closer, they were loud and heavy, nails were dragged with each step and clicking as they made contact again with the floor. The girl didn't realize but she had started to hold her breath, taking her phone out of her pocket, she pulled up the dialer. Ahh Luz you idiot, this isn't the human realm, you can't just call 911... she internally groaned at her stupid action, after a moment she realized everything was quiet, no footsteps, no growling or screeching. She took a couple much needed deep breaths and turned the flashlight on her phone on, looking around the closet she was in. With all the red dresses and black shoes, there was no mistaking, this was Eda's closet. Silence still intact, she shuffled her body forward, trying to peer through the small slats in the closet door. Trying to see if the monster had followed her in, or if the coast was clear, it was dark, but she felt comfortable enough to make a move, pushing the closet door open as quietly as possible she shuffled out on her knees, slowly rising as she was fully out.

It was only then that she noticed right by the shattered window, the hulking monster stood tall, it was beastly, large dark gray wings with a mane that travelled well down to its rear, only a slight shade lighter than the rest of the body. The monsters Wings were almost as light as the mane. She was positive it was some kind of bird, but she had never seen something like this in all the text they had gone over. She tried to stay as still as possible, her mind racing with how to best this situation.

It's as if the beast heard her loud thoughts, it whipped its head towards Luz and in a flash had used its massive, clawed hand to push Luz down, she let out a gasp and she slammed her hands down to catch herself. The beast was finally in full view, Luz couldn't believe her eyes, this beast looked just like Eda. The large gray mane, her face shape and features, her ears elongated but definitely Eda's. "Eda?" Luz managed to whisper, staring the Owl Eda Beast in the face. The beast was still, its black eyes wide and staring at Luz, maybe there was some recognition. Luz went to reach her hand up towards her mentor, hoping to jog something, instead the beast screamed, its black eyes shrinking to small dots as it let out an agonizing cry. Luz had accidentally flashed her light at her, she took the chance and scrambled to her feet, darting out of the room and slamming into the wall using it to orient herself toward where she had hidden King in the closet. She ran as fast as she could, confused to see the wedge had been kicked out of the door, fearing the worst she ripped it open her heart pumping loudly in her ears as she heard the Owl Beast recovering in Eda's room.

The closet was empty, No blood or anything... that's good Luz thought darkly and did a quick look around, eyes frantically searching the hallway. "Psst! Luz!" She heard a small voice call to her, she whipped around to see King standing in the doorway of the bathroom, way too close to Eda's room for her liking. Before she said anything to King "¡Gracias a Dios, estás bien!" Luz whispered with tears forming in her eyes, sprinting down the hall and picking King up quickly turning again towards the living room. "King, I think that monster is Eda" the frantic girl whispered to him trying to be as quiet and as fast as possible. Already able to hear the crashing sounds of the recovered beast.

"Luz, that is Eda... She usually has her Elixir and its fine, but she must have forgotten to take it.. I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner, she doesn't like to talk about it" King was whispering frantically, trying to catch Luz up, hoping she wasn't mad. "Thats a lot to take in" She whispered, eyes wide as she took it all in. Finally reaching the living room, gasping as she saw Hooty slumped on the floor his tongue hanging out of his mouth. "Uhh, what do we do, where does she keep her elixir?" Luz asked, looking down at King, "She always has some in the kitchen, under the sink and in the cabinets" He pointed, and the girl was quick to comply, Eda was on her way to them.

"Okay... lets see" She put King down on the counter to search the cupboards for the elixir, "I only... have empty potions over here" Luz said with a deep frown, trying another few cupboards just in case. "I have one!" King called, covering his mouth, "Sorry, excited" He whispered, holding up the golden liquid, pointing at it with his other paw perfect, now we just need a plan... "We need to hide somewhere and think of how we can do this" with that she had King jump on her shoulder and they made their way to the cold Celler, they could block the door on the inside and the beast would be unlikely to have an easy time clawing the heavy door open. As she situated them inside, she pulled a heavy shelf in front of the door for some added protection.

Luz sighed, for the first time in a while she felt like they were safe enough to take a breather. "Alright, so … Do you know anything else about this form King? Weaknesses maybe?" It was a long shot, but she was hopeful, too bad those hopes were quickly dashed as the small demon shook his head. Ahh.. Gotta think... Owl... her thoughts were roaming trying to find something that made sense. Oh Estúpida, the flashlight on my phone she reached into her pocket and pulled her phone out, the flashlight still on. "When I accidentally put my phone's light in her face, she seemed to go into a daze... Well maybe more like a frenzy, either way it seemed to do something" she turned the flashlight off to preserve the battery. "Thats it, we can lure her with something shiny, oh that pen you had earlier Luz! With the light up gem. That could work" He insisted, sounding as if he had renewed energy. "Okay, perfect. We'll just have to pray when she gets dazed, I have enough space to pour this into her mouth..." Luz muttered looking at the golden liquid. "I just need a minute to prepare myself"

Luz sat in the near darkness of the Celler with King, looking at her phone, it was cracked badly from her fall, but it looked like all the functions still worked. She sighed; how did she go from writing notes to fleeing for her life. She looked at her phone, and scrolled through some of her photos and videos, a couple were automatically playing back to her, seeing Eda in her normal form gave her a bit of comfort yet also caused the anxiety in her chest to swell. She was just about to shut her phone down when one of the videos had started to glitch, making it almost look like there was something inside the spell circle Eda was doing. It played back several times, the same symbols appearing inside. Her eyes went wide with anticipation, she had to draw this out, what if she forgot what it looked like or what if the video never did this again. Ahh of course my pen and paper are out there Luz whined to herself, and looked over at King who was patiently waiting by the door, using his paw to draw little stick villagers for him to destroy. The thought made her gasp, catching Kings attention, she leaned forward onto her knees and drew the symbol in the dirt of the Cellar. It wasn't ideal but it was what she had, as she finished the last two small dashes in the symbol, she gave it an affectionate poke vowing to study it further after this fiasco. "LUZ... What... What did you do?" King yelled, looking at her with his wide yellow eyes. At first, she was confused, not sure what he could have meant but before she could ask a small ball of light floated up in front of her face, headed slowly towards the ceiling illuminating the room. "You did a light spell!" he whisper yelled, racing over to see up close.

I... There's no way, I tried everything the last few days … This is, incredible! Whatever that symbol is, it must have been what helps the spell circle function, why did Eda never mention it? she had so many questions but so little time, they beeded to help Eda. she could heard the Owl Beast, not far from the other side of the door. Their yelling must have caught its attention. "I have no idea how I did it, but I can't celebrate without my mentor... or if were dead!" She said, drawing the symbol again, just in case, this time not touching it as she rose. "We 'ave a beasty to catch" Luz put on her best Australian accent, King didn't get it but she did and that was what mattered.

The two of them moved the shelf aside and slowly opened the door, Luz peaked her head out first, scanning the room for the Owl Beast. She gave the nod to King, letting him know it was all clear, they slowly crept around the house. Moving from Kitchen to hallway, to Living room without making a sound. Like they agreed King pattered over to the paper and pen Luz had been using earlier, grabbing the pen that had the shiny jewel like light on the end of it. As he grabbed it, he moved so he was right in line with the hallway entrance, wanting to make sure that the beast could see him. Luz took a deep breath, she was hidden behind the wall that led to the hallway, hoping that she could catch Ed-the Owl Beast off guard. Once she had steeled herself, she gave King another nod and a thumbs up, with that he cleared his throat and clicked the pen light on. "Oh, my goodness! Wow! Look at this beautiful shiny jewel. It is the most precious thing to me!" If this wasn't such a tense situation, Luz would have laughed at the way King was acting.

Both tensed up as they heard the steps of the Owl Beast stalking down the hallway, Luz gulped, she could feel every part of her protesting what she was doing. Her heart was racing too fast, it was too loud, she had knots in her stomach and a tight terror in her chest. I have to... For Eda she thought, trying to push the feelings away. "Aha! Beast, you will never get my shiny jewel!" King yelled, this signaled that Eda was at the entrance way, the beast lunged forward diving at King who quickly dove out of the way, causing the Owl Beast to slam headfirst into the wall behind him. King gave a small, almost evil snicker as he moved to the next part of the plan. As Eda was reeling from the unexpected pain, King grabbed Luz's phone, tapping on the flashlight causing her to scream. She was on her belly from the fall, mouth wide as she screamed from the sudden light in her face, her apprentice took this opening and made her move, popping the top of the elixir she made a dash for them. Not wanting to risk missing she grabbed the Owl Beasts chin holding the screeching mouth open and holding it still, forcing the liquid into the open Owl Ladies mouth. As the elixir made its way into her system, everything seemed to stop, no more screaming, no more moving around, the black eyes of the monster returned to a regular white colour, Eda's golden iris returning for a moment before rolling back into her head.

As soon as her eyes returned to normal, her whole body seemed to shrink back to size. Luz flinched at the sound Eda's body made as it changed, contorting back into its original shape. King seemed unaffected by the whole shift. After a moment it was just her, laying on the floor as if she just had too much Apple Blood and passed out. Luz sank to her knees feeling an overwhelming amount of relief, wiping the sweat from her forehead, grinning wide at King for their accomplishment. "I think we did good, lets get her to the couch" King nodded, doing what he could to help Luz pull the witch from the floor over to the couch. Most of it was Luz's doing but he huffed at the end, "Phew, she needs to lay off the alcohol and I need more minions!" he joked, jumping off the couch and walking over to where Hooty was lying near the doorway, tongue still lulled out of his mouth. "The Demon King loses no one!" King yelled, slapping his paw into the Owl tube's face. "Private Hooty, you will wake up now and help us clean this mess! Your King demands this of you!" He yelled, giving the tube another slap, which finally provoked an answer. "OW... HOOT! I'm fine, thanks for asking" Hooty shook his whole body, causing a minor tremor across the whole house.

Luz walked over to Hooty; her eyes surprisingly soft despite how much this Owl seemed to get on her nerves. She put her hand up to Hooty's face, who flinched but didn't move away, when Luz cupped the side of his head, he looked at her with those big brown eyes. "I'm happy you're okay Hooty, do you think you could help us clean this mess up?" "OF COURSE LUZ, Hooty reporting for duty!" His elation was palpable, you could feel that he was genuinely happy to help them get things back in order for Eda. Luz laughed at the bird's reaction, yeah he absolutely gets on my nerves but he's sweet... Also needs to learn boundaries... she thought as she started to clean up the living room, King reluctantly helping, wanting to get to napping as soon as possible. King picks up Luz's study material and goes to put it away, before he reaches up to place it back on the coffee table for more lessons, he remembers what happened in the Cellar. "Oh Luz! The Magic! The Magic!" King called, running up to where she was pushing furniture back to where it belongs. Ah... the magic, yeah... the girl turned to King as he approached with the pen and paper, "I don't know King, what if it was just a fluke or maybe it was magic Cellar dirt..." she mumbled, taking a seat on the floor, staring at the blank sheet of paper. "You wont know unless you try! How will we vanquish our enemies if we aren't willing to try!" the speech was a bit darker than the average pep talk she was used to but she nodded along. "You're right, alright, here goes. Let's hope I remember it right.." her voice trails off as she draws a circle, placing a triangle through, a line here and two little dashes. She takes a deep breath, looking at King for comfort as he stands there waiting with a look of pure excitement and anticipation.

Luz gave the piece of paper a small tap, center of the circle, for a split second nothing happened, and she could feel her heart dropping into the pit in her stomach. However, before a thought could even form the paper illuminated and started to crunch itself up into a ball, rising slowly as it did so, just like in the cellar. Only stopping when Luz dropped the pen and paper to cup the light in her hand. "You did it! That's a light spell! Luz you did MAGIC this is great, I can't wait for Eda to wake up!" King hollered, jumping up and down around Luz as she was still just staring into the light in her hands. I'm doing magic... " I'M DOING MAGIC! KING! HAHA YES!" she got up to dance with him, letting the light ball go, she hopped around the living room with King, both with big goofy smiles on their faces. Once they had come down from their excitement, Luz agreed they should focus on cleaning the house, but she would investigate more on the symbol as soon as she could. Hooty had done a fantastic job cleaning up the upstairs, the rooms were back to normal, no broken glass or horribly scratched walls/floors. Luz and King did their best to put the living room back together, only really needing Hootys house magic for the claw marks.

A few hours later Eda slowly stirred on the couch, her eyes were blood shot, and she felt a throbbing headache that caused her to wince just from opening her eyes. She couldn't remember much, just darkness and a bright light. Ahh titan, darkness... despite her body's protest she turned over on the couch, barely avoiding squishing King who was sleeping beside her curled up. well that's a good sign... where is Luz? Eda rubbed her eyes, not quite able to understand what she was seeing. King's eyes slowly blinked open, and he rolled onto his back to look at Eda. King yawned and sat up, "It's okay, we took care of you." Eda didn't like to get emotional, it just wasn't her thing but hearing King say that warmed her heart. "I think you owe her an explanation... but she did great and, do you see? She learned a spell" King spoke in a hushed tone, although he could have probably spoken normally, Luz was sitting off to the side in the other part of the living room, just drawing and tapping the paper gently which produced varying sized light balls. The Owl Ladies eyes were huge, "she learned a spell... Wow, well I'm glad one good thing came from this... hows Hooty doing? I sorta remember doing a number on him.." "HOOTY IS HOOTIN' GOOD! I helped clean up, don't worry Eda we made sure everything was alright! " Eda cringed at the sound of the bird tubes shrill scream, his face having slithered in through a side window in the home, a smile on his beak and his eyes filled with pride. what got into him... she thought, looking over to Luz who was lost in her own world.

"King, Hooty, I'm going to bed, make sure she doesn't stay up much later... doing whatever that is", "Of course!" Both Hooty and King replied, King turning to glare at the owl as if trying to say with his eyes that it was his job. She gestured towards the girl as she shuffled her way up to her room, they could figure it out, she was visibly uncomfortable and sore from her time as the Owl Beast. this is going to create a lot of quesruons from that one... Eda thought as she got into her nest like bed, closing her eyes and trying to relax. But especially after today she deserves to know. The Owl Lady slowly faded back to sleep, exhaustion completely overtaking her.
