Chapter 8: Lost in Language
Hey everyone I'm back with a new chapter. Now this one I've been looking forward to for a while. I think you'll be quite surprised by this. Also today is my birthday so I thought I would give a gift to you all for today. I hope you like what I have planned. Please Review and Enjoy.
We find ourselves in the Owl House as Luz was reading to King from her Azura book while Minato was reading nearby.
"Our paths have crossed only in battle. But today I stand before you seeking an ally." Luz read before sighing.
"Luz you're getting all swoony again." King said.
"I can't help it. Azura is able to befriend everyone. Even her biggest rival. I wish I had that kind of power." Luz said.
"You have friends Luz. You got me, Willow, Gus, not to mention King and Eda." Minato points out.
"Rivals are meant to be annihilated not befriended." King said.
"Hey what book are you reading?" Luz asks as Minato holds it up.
"Tiger Lily." Minato said.
"Oh the Native American Princess of Neverland?" Luz asks interested.
"Yeah but this one is a different take on the one from Peter Pan." Minato said.
"I'll have to read that later." Luz said.
"Keep reading. I've been sucked into your awful fandom." King orders.
"Okay. Suddenly the door swung open." Luz read and suddenly the door swung open.
"Ding‐dong. Ding. Hoot! Hoot!" Hooty said.
"The book has come to life! Burn it!" King yells.
Walking over Luz saw a basket by the door.
"Eda, you got a package. It looks like a gift basket." Luz said as they walk into the kitchen and she puts it down.
"Probably an offering. Ah! Being the most powerful witch in the Boiling Isles has its perks." Eda smiles.
Pulling back the blanket King saw a little bat baby demon creature sleeping.
"Mmm fresh meat." King smiles.
"Nu-uh no way I am not cooking that." Minato cringed.
"Witches eating babies is so 1693. What is this?" Eda asks when King noticed a note.
"There's a note. Take care of my child till morning. Yi Yi." King read.
"Nope. Babies are awful. Not happening." Eda said.
"You will be handsomely rewarded. X-O-X-O-X-O-X. Bat Queen." King read.
"Bat Queen?" Eda asks when King pulls out some coins. "Reward?" Eda smiles.
"Who's the Bat Queen?" Luz asks.
"She's the wealthiest demon on the Boiling Isles. Get in with her and you're set for life. So, we keep this thing alive for a few hours and we get paid. Easy." Eda smiles.
"I don't know Eda, kids can be difficult." Minato said.
"Our greatest adventure yet! Learning about love and life through a child's eyes." Luz smiles.
"Not you. You two have to return the books I checked out from the library." Eda said making a magic circle and tons of books dropped into their arms.
"Whoa!" Luz and Minato said trying to balance them.
"I don't want them getting a cut of the loot." Eda whispers to King.
"Good thinking." King smiles.
"Now, let's take a look at this little darling." Eda pulls back the blanket and almost immediately the Bat Baby let out a loud shriek causing them to cover their ears in pain. "On second thought maybe we could use your help!"
"Sorry we're going to the library!" Luz calls out.
"Good luck!" Minato yells as they walked out the door.
"We got this right?" Eda asks when the Bat Baby flew out and knocked her to the ground.
Walking into town, Luz and Minato look in awe at the giant library.
"Whoa." Minato and Luz said in awe.
"Okay I am so coming back here later." Minato said as they entered and almost immediately the Librarian used magic to bring all their books over.
"Late. Late." He said before examining one. "Coffee, grass and bloodstains? These are Eda's, aren't they?"
"That was a crazy night." Luz said causing him to sigh.
"I'll put them on her tab. By the way, we're closing early for the Wailing Star meteor shower." He said.
"What's that?" Minato asks.
"You're in a library. Read a book." He said gesturing to the bookcases around them.
"I am in a library. I will read a book." Luz said excited before she was shushed.
Walking around Luz noticed a demon decimal system.
Bending down she pulls out a piece of candy to feed it and it ended up burping tons of decimal cards on her.
Walking around they saw multiple floating books above them. Smiling Luz reached out to grab one but ended up getting pulled up.
"Aaah! Minato! The books have me!" Luz screams.
"Luz!" Minato yells grabbing her leg but ends up getting yanked with her.
"Shush!" Someone said.
"Sorry." They both said.
After finding an area to let go they saw people watching videos on Crystal Balls in the Reference section.
"This place is amazing." Luz said.
"I'm definitely coming back here again." Minato said.
"What are you doing here?" A familiar voice said startling them.
"Aah we've been caught!" Luz said as she hid behind Minato when they suddenly heard laughing.
"Wait a minute?" Minato follows the laughter with Luz right behind him and they enter the kids area to see Amity reading a book to little kids.
"We're you're friends and we wanna help,' said the Tin Boy with a yelp. Otabin smiled and paced the floor. I've never had real friends before." Amity read.
"Amity, reading to kids?" Luz said peeking out.
Slowly the two of them snuck in and hid behind the graphic novels.
"Then we'll be your first,' the Chicken Witch clucked. Otabin couldn't believe his luck. So, Bookmaker Otabin surrounded by friends, bound a book of friendship and that's the end." Amity said closing the book causing the kids to cheer.
"Wow, she actually can be nice." Minato said while Luz gasps.
"Maybe we can befriend her like Azura befriended her rival." Luz said.
"She's coming this way." Minato said as they ducked down just before the kids ran past them.
"Thank you so much." One kid said when a red demon kid hugged.
"Good‐bye, Miss Amity. Thank you." It said in a deep voice.
"Thank you, Braxus. See you next time." Amity smiles as Braxus ran off only to see Luz and Minato nearby. "Ugh it's you two."
"Hey Amity, wow I didn't know you read to kids." Minato said as they got up.
"Looks like this sour lemon drop has a hidden sweet center." Luz teases.
"It's for extra credit. Don't get your leggings in a bunch." Amity said putting the book back.
"Hey Minato and I could help you read to the kids. You should hear Minato's monster voice." Luz said.
"It's very true." Minato said in a dark tone.
"Ooh spooky." Luz giggles.
"Human, Hybrid, do you see me going to the Owl Shack and bugging you while you... fry up owls?" Amity asks.
"What are you talking about?" Minato asks.
"Okay, I don't really know what you do there, but every time you two come near me, I get in trouble. Just leave me alone." Amity said.
"I'm sorry. We'll go." Minato said.
"So much for that." Luz sighs as they walk out.
"Hey don't let her get to you." Looking over they saw two older teens, a boy and a girl with green hair and light blue sleeves. These were Edric and Emira.
"Who are you?" Luz asks.
"Well-wishers on a mission." Edric said.
"A noble quest." Emira smiles.
"Watch this. Hey Mittens!" Edric calls out causing Amity to turn red embarrassed. "Mom says to stop forgetting your lunch." He said holding up a lunch box as Amity walks. "And stop being a jerk to your friends."
"They're not my friends." Amity said.
"Yeah makes sense. I mean no way you could ever hang out with people this cool." Emira said moving to Luz and Minato.
"We're cool?" Luz asks.
"You can leave now. All of you." Amity said taking her lunch and walking away.
Looking over Luz and Minato saw them wink at them before they walked to another part of the library.
"So, you're the human and the hybrid we've heard so much about." Edric said.
"I'm Emira. And this is Edric. We're Amity's older siblings. We heard how you embarrassed her at the school and at the witch covention last week. No wonder she hates you two." Emira said.
"Yeah I thought we were as cool as cucumbers. But we're as sour as pickles." Luz said.
"It's not like we mean to do it on purpose." Minato said.
"It's fine, besides I bet once she saw that Monado on your back she was dying of jealousy already." Emira points.
"Yeah I mean Miguel Soulwing's kid. It's amazing you're not the most popular boy here." Edric said.
"Why is my dad so famous?" Minato asks surprising them.
"Wait you seriously don't know?" Emira asks as Minato shook his head.
"Oh man every kid on the Boiling Isles has heard the story of Miguel Soulwing vs the Dreadscythe." Edric said.
"The what?" Luz asks.
"It's uh…you know what come with us. You need to see this." Edric said leading them to the reference table.
Sitting down in front of a crystal ball, he plugs in something before a video started to load.
"Take it in you two. This is a warlock everyone wished they could be." Edric said.
Looking in they saw an image of a large black bird creature with wings that were n the shape of scythes as it roared creating powerful blades of darkness clearing an entire forest.
As the Dreadscythe was flying through a mountain range destroying the landscape members of the Emperor's Coven tried to stop it with their magic firing vines to tie to down while the others fired magic trying to bring it down.
Swinging his claws the Dreadscythe knocked them all away sending them crashing to the ground.
Growling it was about to finish them off when a blast of wind knocks it back.
"That's enough out of you." A familiar voice said causing Minato to gasp.
Appearing in was a teenage version of Miguel wearing his goggles on his head and the Monado in his hand.
"Dad." Minato gasps.
"He looks just like you." Luz said.
"Yeah that's how you know he's a Soulwing." Edric said.
"What do you mean?" Minato asks.
"The wild red hair, all Soulwings have that." Emira points.
"Here comes the best part." Edric said.
In the Crystal Ball, they saw the Dreadscythe roar as it took to the sky and glared Miguel down ready to destroy him.
Taking a deep breath, Miguel brings his goggles down over his eyes before raising his Monado into the air and a bright light engulfs it.
As a strong blue light surrounds the Monado it grew double in size before changing into the shape of a Buster sword.
With enhancement magic surrounding him, Miguel flies in as the Dreadscythe released the blades of darkness.
Flying around all of them with ease Miguel flies in and stabs his sword right through the Dreadscythe's chest destroying it as the clip ended.
"Whoa…my dad is amazing." Minato said blown away.
"The Emperor of the Boiling Isles himself thanked your father for this." Emira said.
"Wow. How come Eda never told me about this?" Minato asks.
"Maybe she didn't want the fame to go to your head." Luz said.
"The Soulwings are one of the biggest families on the Boiling Isles." Edric said.
"Wait…some are here?" Minato gasps.
"Huh? New family to meet." Luz gasps loving this.
"Thank you so much for telling me this." Minato said.
"Anytime." Edric smiles.
"Don't waste your time with Mittens. Me and Ed, we are way more fun. Follow us." Emira said.
Smiling Luz and Minato eagerly did.
First Edric wiped off the Non on the Non-Fiction sign as a librarian walks over.
"And here we go towards our nonfiction section." He gasps seeing the sign "Fiction? Fiction? Is our world but fiction? Then what in my life is real anymore?" He sobs.
Next one Librarian was reading while he was stacking books but he didn't know Emira was putting the same book he stacked back into the cart.
Adding more insult to injury she had him switch places with the one from earlier.
"Huh? No fiction! Not again!" He sobs causing them to chuckle.
Finally in front of the demon decimal system, Edric blew dust onto all the cabinets causing the demons to sneeze cards all over causing them to laugh.
"Hey!" Looking over they saw Amity and the Librarian glaring at them.
"Wait where's Gary?" He asks.
"Coming." The other Librarian said running in. "Noo!" He sobs again.
Grabbing them the four of them were tossed out.
"You've made reading far too fun. Now, stay out." He said closing the door on them causing them laugh.
"Amity's even madder at us than before. I didn't think that was possible." Luz said.
"No when Mittens is mad she looks like this." Edric holds his breath turning red with anger before catching his breath. "Woah, I almost passed out."
"You two are pretty fun." Emira said before she and Edric nod. "So, hey, we're coming back tonight. There's a certain book we forgot to check out."
"And bonus, rumor has it the Wailing star's supposed to unlock some rare magical event. You in, friend?" Edric asks.
"After showing me all that about my dad? Absolutely." Minato smiles.
"Me too." Luz nods.
"Great. Meet back here at midnight. See you later." Edric said as they walked away.
"Wow those two are really cool. I can't believe they're Amity's siblings." Minato said.
"This is great. First, we befriend the siblings then we befriend the Amity." Luz said.
"Well lets go get our stuff." Minato said as they walked away.
Nearby Amity had heard the whole thing causing her to growl and hold her breath until her face turned red before gasping. "Whoo. Almost passed out."
Back at the Owl House, the Bat Baby was still crying while Eda and King were trying to cover their ears.
"It's been hours. How can it keep screaming?" King asks.
"Oh. I hate it too, pip‐squeak. But think about the money." Eda said when the screams got louder causing various glass objects.
"No amount of snails is worth this torture! Make it stop!" King whines causing Eda to sigh.
"I can't believe I'm about to do this." Eda said picking up the baby and started rocking it back and forth. "Rock, rock. Maternal gesture."
As Eda rocks the baby back and forth it stops crying when the door opens revealing Luz and Minato.
"We just had the best day. Cool teens like us." Luz smiles.
"And I found out why my dad is such a legend. I can't believe he slayed the Dreadscythe." Minato smiles.
"Call us library books because we were checked out." Luz smiles when they noticed Eda.
"Wow Eda you look so motherly." Luz smiles.
"Say that again and I steal your tongue." Eda said as they walked over. "So you saw the Dreadscythe Video huh? Hmph that was just the start of Miguel's rise. I knew him way before he slayed that dumb bird."
"Wait my dad has done more things than just that?" Minato asks.
"Uh maybe we shouldn't talk about things being killed in front of the baby." Luz said tickling its nose.
However when she did the Bat Baby spit out the younger sibling and so did the other making three Bat Babies.
As one flaps up it breathes fire causing them to panic.
"What kind of demon babies are these things?!" Minato panics.
Grabbing their books, Minato and Luz put them in their bags before grabbing them.
"Parenting sure looks rewarding. E‐Enjoy your life lessons. Bye!" Luz said running out.
"Good luck!" Minato said closing the door as the babies flew around wrecking up the place.
"Uh, for, for the money?" King asks.
"For the money." Eda sighs when they both ducked dodging some slime.
Later that night, Luz and Minato were in front of the library waiting for Edric and Emira.
"Okay just act cool…cool…cool." Luz said trying to make cool poses.
"Uh maybe we shouldn't do that Luz." Minato said.
"Why not? I say keep going." Emira said startling them.
Across from them they saw Emira and Edric smiling and giggling at them.
"How long were you there?" Minato asks.
"Long enough." They smile as they walk to the door.
"You guys ready to bring this whole whatever you're doing inside?" Edric asks as they both nod. "It says no trespassing but I'm allergic to the rules."
"And dairy." Emira adds.
"Wow, okay. Just expose me." Edric said causing them to laugh as Emira puts a scroll to the lock and it ends up opening it.
"Cool." Luz said.
"Sugoi." Minato said grabbing his backpack and following them in.
"Standing in a dimly lit lobby. You guys know how to party." Luz said looking around.
"Look the Wailing Star!" Edric points as they look to the window to see a sobbing star fly past the stained glass window.
"Hmm nothing happened." Minato said.
"Wait look." Luz points to show all the books on the shelves were glowing green. "The books are all glowy." Luz opens one and from the book, multiple birds flew out.
"Wow the Wailing Star Magicked the books to life." Edric said when Luz closed the book making them disappear.
"And when you close the book whatever you released goes back into it." Minato realized.
Seeing this all four of them smile at the fun they were gonna have.
As Minato put his backpack down he didn't notice a green light coming from his bag.
At the magazine rack, Edric opened one called Regal Couture and he and Emira ended up in super fancy outfits complete with a peacock.
Next to them Luz opened one called Witch Ware Weekly and when she opened Minato's outfit became a sort of Steampunk outfit with multiple gears, a top hat and a cane while Luz got a sword of adventurer outfit with a giant sword that made her fall to the ground because it was so heavy.
"Luz are you okay?" Minato asks.
"You make walking around with a sword on your back easy." Luz groans.
Next they went to the graphic novels.
As Minato opens one expecting a hero to come out all of them pause seeing nothing happened.
"Nothing happened." Minato said when a giant talk cloud appeared above him saying that.
Gasping Edric and Emira look up. "Wow!" They said as a talk cloud appeared above them.
Soon the four of them were running around with the History of Snowballs engaging in a no snow snowball fight with the books.
As Luz passed by the kids room she saw the Otabin book. Slowly opening it Luz saw the cute little creature smiling at her.
"Eat Snow Soulwing!" Edric said blasting Minato down the hall.
"Ugh still not used to that." Minato said when he looked up and saw his backpack glowing. "Whoa."
Slowly walking over he opened it to see the glow was coming from his Tiger Lily book.
"Hey Minato check this out!" Emira calls out.
Looking to the book, Minato holds onto it as he walks over.
At the Owl House, the Bat Baby triplets were totally wrecking the place.
"What silences children? What if we invent a TV network for ages 6 to 11?" King suggests.
"What? That's insane." Eda said.
"No. Minato says his world has tons of these." King said.
"There's only one way out of this." Eda said taking out a knife before cutting an apple. "Apple slices and storytime. All right, brats. Let's do this." Eda said taking out Otabin's book. "Ugh being a parent is making me sick. How did Miguel survive this?" Eda asks as the Bat Babies and King sat in front of her.
"Otabin spent his days alone amongst the many books he'd sewn. With needle and thread..."
Back in the library, Luz was reading the same page.
"...the pages he mend. But all the while he longed for a friend." Luz finished.
"Friend?" Otabin asks prepping his needle and thread.
"Luz, check this out." Turning around Luz saw Minato, Edric and Emira walk in.
"What is it?" Minato asks.
"Look what we discovered." Emira opens a book called Quacks Eat Snacks.
From it, a cute little duck came out.
"Aww a little duck." Minato said.
"Cute little quackster." Luz said when Edric grabbed the book and drew in it causing the little duck to grow giant beefy legs making it freak out.
"Now it's extra cute." Emira said closing the book as the two of them laugh.
"Uh I wouldn't see that." Minato said nervously.
"Come on Minato, it's just a little duck and not even real it's from a book." Edric said.
"I guess." Minato said feeling uncomfortable as he hid his Tiger Lily book behind his back.
"Your turn, Luz." Emira said.
"I don't know." Luz said equally nervous.
"Come on. Don't stop the fun." Edric said holding out the pencil.
"I…I can't do it." Luz said.
"Here let me help." Edric said scribbling in the book giving Otabin an angry look on his face and claws.
"I don't wanna see it." Luz said closing it.
"Whatever. We didn't come here just to doodle. Come on." Emira said pulling them away causing Luz to drop the book making it open and a soft growling noise came from it.
Leading them further into the library they stopped at the romance section.
"Oh, wow. Boiling Isles romance. That's totally lame. I mean, unless you guys are into it?" Luz asks.
"I think I'm into this one." Edric moves a book and the shelf moves revealing a secret clubhouse filled with books and tons of manga books.
"Wow that's a good book." Luz said when Minato looks inside.
"Whoa look at all these Manga! I could spend all day in here!" Minato said excited.
"Your clubhouse is like my ultimate secret hideaway." Luz said causing both of them to laugh.
"We don't hang out in the library. Uh, teacher, I'm in love with a dictionary." Edric mocks.
"I'm studying the dork arts. This is Amity's secret hideaway." Emira said surprising them.
"Amity?" Minato said surprised.
"Mittens has gotten too full of herself. She keeps tattling on us when we cut class." Edric said.
"She needs to learn not to mess with people like that. So, we're going to find her diary." Emira said.
"And then post the pages all around school for everyone to see." Edric said as they both laughed shocking them.
"But…she'd be humiliated." Minato said putting his book down on the table.
"Isn't that taking it a bit too far?" Luz asks.
"No. See, we're her family. It's tough love. She needs to learn to lighten up." Emira explains.
"Hmm. Well, I‐‐ I don't see any diaries in here. Nope, nothing. Let's just leave. Wait, are those..." Luz gasps as she and Minato look to see the Good Witch Azura books.
"Good Witch Azura books 1-4." Minato said as they walked over.
"First all the manga and now this? How did she even get these?" Luz asks as they examined them.
"Is this one hand-drawn?" Minato asks grabbing a small one but when he opened it he saw Amity in it.
"I saw that Hybrid and that human again today." Amity's Diary said causing them to gasp.
"The diary." Luz said.
"I may have overreacted. I mean that hybrid he's from a big family just like me the only difference is he didn't know that. That must be why he's so happy all the time. I don't wanna come off as cruel. I just can't show weakness." The diary said.
"Oh no." Minato said closing it.
"Hey Minato what you got there?" Edric asks as both hide the book behind them.
"Oh nothing just…Azura volume 5." Minato said.
"Yeah Azure goes through a bit of a goth phase." Luz said when Emira used her magic to yank the book out of their hands.
"It's not fair. I'm the only one who knows Ed and Em aren't perfect. Why do they keep getting away with things?" Amity's Diary asks causing them to smile.
"This is it." Edric smiles.
"Luz, Minato, were you guys hiding this from us?" Emira asks.
"You see how she treats people. And how she treats you two." Edric said.
"I know but no one deserves this, this is crossing the line." Minato said.
"These are private thoughts. Let's put it back." Luz said as she tried to pull it away but Edric and Emira pulled forcing Minato to hold Luz by the waist and pull.
"You guys are her siblings! You can't do this to your own family!" Minato said.
"She needs this!" Emira said.
"It's for her own good!" Edric said as they pulled back causing pages to fall out and Minato and Luz to fall back causing Minato to bang into the table and his Tiger Lily book fell open causing it to glow.
"I wish I had somewhere to go. Why won't the human and hybrid leave me alone? Called my teacher mom again. I started this new card game, that Hybrid calls it Yu-Gi-Oh, it's actually kind of fun. Sorry I haven't written for a while. Wait, why am I apologizing?" All the pages said.
Scrambling Minato and Luz try to gather up the pages when Amity steps in.
"Really?" Amity said as they gasp.
"This isn't what it looks like." Luz said.
"We just wanted to help." Minato said as Amity's face turned red causing her siblings to laugh.
"You two are the worst. I've been trying to figure you and your human out hybrid. Are you nerds, posers, ignorant? But now I know, you two are bullies." Amity said taking her diary and running off.
"Amity wait!" Minato calls out as they ran out.
"Looks like Mittens ruined the fun." Edric said.
"Again. Oh, well. We're headed out to go goblin‐tipping. Wanna come?" Emira asks.
"You're just gonna leave her like that?" Minato asks.
"Yeah with you two." Emira said grabbing his arm.
"No thanks. I think I've had enough for one day." Minato said.
"Look you guys are cool." Luz said causing them to smile. "But we're gonna go help Mittens I mean Amity."
"Whatever, see ya round." Emira winks before left.
As Luz and Minato ran off to find Amity they didn't notice a hand come out Minato's book that he left behind.
"Amity wait please." Minato calls out as he found her walking down a hall.
"First you embarrass me. Then you wanna be my friend? I don't get you. Pick a side." Amity said.
"We were trying to help you." Luz said.
"Help me?! You wanna help me then stay out of my life!" Amity points. "Just go away before things somehow get worse."
However, before they could things got worse. WAY worse.
Growling they look to see Otabin had turned into a giant monster with claws and the book where Edric and Emira edited attached to his heart.
"Otabin?" Amity said in shock.
"With claws and fangs and breaking bones, I found a friend to make my own." Otabin said reaching out to grab them when suddenly an arrow flew in forcing him to step back.
"Get away from them you beast!" Turning around they saw a teenage Native American girl with long brown hair with two pigtails in the front and a ponytail in the back, tribal clothes, moccasins, a feather headband, and a bow and quiver full of arrows attached to her back.
"No way…Tiger Lily?" Minato gasps in shock.
"From your book?" Luz gasps.
"Move!" Tiger Lily said loading two arrows into her bow and fires but Otabin pulls out a giant needle and whacks the arrows away.
Looking to the others Otabin grabs Amity.
"Minato!" Amity screams as he tries to save her but Otabin runs off.
"Amity! We gotta save her!" Minato said as Lily ran over.
"What is this place? I've never anything like it in Neverland." Lily said looking around.
"This is library this is where people go to read stories." Luz said.
"Wow, normally I just listen to my dad tell stories." Lily said looking around curiously. "Are you guys new Lost Kids?"
"I wish." Luz said.
"Don't worry once this is over I'll make this all right. For now I'm Minato, this is my friend Luz and we have to save our Amity who was just taken away by that monster." Minato said.
"Well then we better get moving." Lily said.
As they ran to catch up with Otabin, Minato looked over at Lily and smiles.
Fighting alongside the heroine of his book, so cool.
In the kid's room, Otabin was sewing Amity into a book as her right arm pressed against the paper.
"Why are you doing this? I've been reading you since I was a kid. I know you're not like this. Someone changed you." Amity said.
"But friends are what I've always sought. And now a friend my claws have caught." Otabin said when a book hit him in the head.
Growling Otabin turns around only to see Lily and Luz glaring at him.
"Let her go you beloved work of children's fiction!" Luz said.
"More friends!" Otabin grins going after them.
"This way!" Luz said leading Lily down the hall.
Using this chance, Minato ran in to help Amity.
"Minato?" Amity said surprised.
"Hang on I'm gonna get you out of here." Minato said drawing his Monado and cut the thread holding her.
"So what's the plan?" Amity asks.
"Well…" Minato cringed.
"You don't have a plan?!" Amity asks.
"Hey my only plan was get you out of that book and I'm lucky that plan worked. I'm making this up as I go along." Minato with a panicked look causing her to giggle. "Did you just laugh?"
"No." Amity said when they heard screaming.
"Luz!" Minato gasps.
"We have to fix Otabin how did this happen?" Amity asks.
"I don't know Luz was reading the original and your brother scribbled on him." Minato said causing Amity to gasp.
Looking around Amity saw the book Otabin tried to put her in.
"Minato corrects a mistake." Amity wrote and suddenly a giant magic eraser appeared.
"Let's go." Grabbing his sword Minato and Amity charged into battle.
On the upper level, Lily was firing arrows at Otabin who was getting closer.
Looking around Luz noticed the demon decimal system. Grabbing a dusty book, Luz blew into it causing the demons to sneeze cards at Otabin temporary blinding him.
Using this opening Lily whacks Otabin with her bow.
"Nice move." Lily said.
"Aw shucks thanks." Luz said rubbing the back of her head.
However the moment was ruined when Otabin recovered and grabbed her.
"Luz!" Lily gasps.
"Making friends, taking friends, never be without my friends." Otabin said.
"You fiend. You can't rhyme friends with friends." Luz said.
"Seriously? That's what you're focusing on!" Lily asks.
"What?" Luz said not seeing the problem.
"Hey!" Minato calls out as Otabin turns to see him and Amity. "Put her down." He said readying his sword.
"There is no cut I cannot mend, we shall be friends until the end." Otabin said drawing his needle like a sword.
Tossing Luz to the side, Otabin attacks Minato who blocks the attack but Otabin uses his strength to push Minato back.
Tumbling backwards Minato crashes into the reference table.
Groaning in pain he sees the crystal ball turn on revealing the video he saw of Miguel slaying the Dreadscythe.
Looking up Minato saw Otabin with an evil grin on his face and everyone else was in danger if he didn't stop it.
Slowly standing up Minato focuses his power causing the Monado to change shape into a buster weapon like he saw in his father's video.
"Minato." Luz said in awe.
"What is that?" Lily asks.
"Amazing." Amity said as Minato leaps in.
Roaring he slams his sword against Otabin causing him to fall back. Moving in Minato kept up his assault pushing the monster back more and more before swinging up slicing Otabin's needle in half before whacking him to the ground.
Moving in Minato, Amity and Lily hold Otabin down.
"Luz hurry!" Amity said as Luz grabs the eraser and erases the drawing causing Otabin to turn back into his small cute self.
"Aww he's adorable." Lily smiles.
"I'm so sorry. I don't know what came over me." Otabin said.
"Hey everyone makes mistakes from time to time little guy." Minato smiles.
"We're still friends." Amity said before looking to Luz who closes the book putting Otabin back.
Soon they were cleaning up all the damage they caused not realizing the dawn was soon coming.
"Well Lily thanks for all your help." Minato said getting her book.
"I'll admit it was quite an adventure." Lily smiles.
"Speak for yourself. This never happened." Amity said.
"Hey uh I know this doesn't make up for reading your diary but Minato and I thought you would might like this." Luz said holding out Azura Vol. 5.
"We noticed you only had 1-4. It's really good trust me." Minato said.
"Thank you." Amity said taking it. "Maybe you aren't bullies. I haven't exactly been the friendliest witch either. I'll think on that." Amity sighs.
"Well you ready to go home Lily?" Minato asks.
"Yep." Lily nods.
However just as Minato was about to close her book the sun started to rise causing the glow around Lily to vanish.
As Minato closes the book everyone expected Tiger Lily to disappear but she didn't.
"Uh Minato." Luz said.
"Huh? Why am I still here?" Tiger Lily asks.
Looking at the book, Minato opened and closed it multiple times but Lily was still there. "Why isn't this working? Why aren't you back in your book?"
"I don't know." Lily said when Amity gasps.
"Oh no." Amity looks to the window and sees the sun. "The sun's up that means the Wailing Star magic is over."
"What?!" They all gasp.
"You didn't close the book quick enough, now she's no longer a book character. She's real." Amity said.
"I'm what?!" Lily gasps before grabbing Minato. "Put me back in my book right now!" She yells shaking him.
"I don't know how!" Minato said.
"Well then you're gonna figure out how." Lily growls pulling him in close.
"Okay okay uh maybe Eda knows." Minato said.
"Well you're gonna take me to her right now." Lily said grabbing Minato by his scarf and pulling him away.
"Luz!" Minato said trying to hang on.
"Uh oh gotta go before Tiger Lily becomes more tiger and less lily." Luz panics.
"Bye Amity!" Minato said as they left.
Looking at them walk away a soft smile appears on Amity's face before she walks away.
Back at the Owl House, Eda was asleep with King nearby and the Bat Babies asleep in her arms.
"Hi guys we're…home." Luz said as they saw them asleep.
"What kind of strange tent is this?" Tiger Lily asks walking in behind Minato.
"It's a house. It's a new kind of tent." Minato said.
"Hoot hoot!" Hooty said startling them.
"Hooty!" They said when suddenly a giant bat demon with long hair entered.
"What is this place?" Tiger Lily asks.
"I take it you're the mother." Minato said.
"Yi Yi. Mama is I. And I is the Bat Queen." She said before whistling causing her Bat Babies to fly into her hair. "Ah snuggle dumplings." She smiles before gagging and barfing out a treasure chest full of coins and a skull whistle causing them to cringe.
"Ugh gross." Luz said.
"For troubles. Eda is owed one." The Bat Queen said before leaving.
"Well now that that's over. Wake her up so I can go home." Tiger Lily orders.
"Okay, okay. Eda wake up." Minato said.
"Hmm sweet babies." Eda said before realizing they were gone. "Babies? Where are the babies?" Eda asks as Luz mimed them flying off. "Oh and I just taught Junior how to pick locks." Eda said.
"Your night looks very successful. Look at all that money you made. And look at this cool whistle that scary woman gave you. I'd wash it before you use it." Luz suggests.
"Yeah. We did it all for the money." Eda frowns.
"I miss my babies." King sobs.
"Hey who are you?" Eda asks noticing Tiger Lily.
"Eda, this is Tiger Lily. I opened her book during the Wailing Star but didn't close it in time. Can you use your magic to put her back in?" Minato asks.
"The Wailing Star? Oof sorry but no can do. The Wailing Star is a very powerful object, not even I'm strong enough to fix that. I'm afraid your friend will just have to wait for the next one in order to go back into her book." Eda said.
"And how long is it until the next one?" Tiger Lily asks.
"Hmm let's see…at least maybe a few years." Eda said counting with her fingers.
Hearing this Minato cringed as Tiger Lily glares at him.
"Uh sorry about that Lily." Minato said as she got in his face.
"Well guess what. Until you figure out a way to send me back I'm not going anywhere. Understand?" Lily glares.
"Yes, I understand." Minato gulps.
"Wow sounds like you guys have had a rough day." Eda said.
"Oh yeah good then bad, then really bad." Luz said.
"And really good." Minato said.
"Hey you guys wanna hear about my night?" Hooty asks.
"Ugh no!" Luz said.
"No!" Eda said.
"Get out!" Tiger Lily said.
"That's not a thing anyone ever wants!" King said.
"We have bigger things to deal with Hooty!" Minato said.
