Chapter 10: Once Upon a Swap
Hey everyone I'm back with a new chapter. Happy Mother's Day. I hope you and your moms have something nice planned for today. I'd like to give a big shoutout to my buddy kival737101 who came up with the big surprise for Minato in this, every anime fan's worst nightmare. I hope you like what I have planned. We find ourselves on the Boiling Isles, but many years ago.
In the streets of Bonesborough, the citizens were screaming in horror as tons of wild and crazy spells flew everywhere.
"Come on, at least give me some fun." Sitting on the roofs, was a small magical imp that was barely taller than King wearing a dark blue suit, with a big top hat on his head with two little horns coming out the sides.
"That's enough Despairo!" Looking down the imp saw some monster hunters charging towards him.
"Nu-uh. I wait twice a year for this and no one is taking this away from me." Despair said making a circle and the Monster Hunter's arms and legs turn into wheels causing them all to spin out of control and smash into stands.
Bursting into laughter, Despairo holds his sides.
"Oh man I crack myself up." Despairo said when a blade of wind hits the roof below him causing him to fall over and land in a pile of straw. "Hey! Who's the wise guy?"
Emerging from the alley, Despairo sees a young Miguel Soulwing wearing a Hexside uniform with the Monado strapped to his back.
"It's over Despairo, clean all this up and get going." Miguel orders.
"No way! I came here for some fun and I'm not leaving until I get it." Despairo said floating up in front of him.
"Alright, you want fun? I'll give you fun." Reaching to his back, Miguel draws the Monado.
"You asked for it." Despairo said firing a purple blast of magic, but Miguel turns the Monado into a shield blocking it. "What the?"
"I'm not going down that easily." Miguel declares.
"Alright, wise guy." Despairo said cracking his knuckles.
Roaring in determination, both charge in and clash.
Zooming out we see it pause revealing someone was watching this.
"And like that our epic battles went on." Sitting on the couch, Despairo was looking at memory through a magic circle.
"After our battle Miguel was supposed to meet me every time my powers came back to full strength. That was the deal but for 6 years that jerk has stood me up. That was the deal, we have our matches, I don't cause any more trouble." Despairo growls snapping his fingers making the circle disappear.
Leaning against the door, we see a small rapier in a case.
Grabbing it, Despairo straps it to his side.
"If he won't come to me, I'm going for him. I'm gonna make him regret making me look like an idiot for all these years!" Despairo declares blasting the door to his empty home open.
In the market, Minato was sitting with Tiger Lily as she was looking at Yu-Gi-Oh Cards.
"Such interesting designs. And you play this game all the time?" Tiger Lily asks looking at the different cards.
"Yep, and since it's a slow day I can help you make your own deck." Minato offers.
"Sounds great but how do I know which ones I want?" Tiger Lily asks intrigued.
"Just look at the cards and try to find one in particular when you see one that catches your interest we expand on it." Minato said.
"Hmm." Pausing Lily looks at all the cards before her eyes narrowed down on one monster of a female warrior with a bow and arrow. "Hey this one uses a bow just like me, Amazoness Archer."
"An Amazoness deck, it suits you." Minato said when King stood up on the table and leaped up and tried to and grab the flag but couldn't.
"Stupid flag." King growls when Luz walks up with a big board.
"It's been a little slow around here, but I've got just the thing to attract customers." Luz said pressing the light glyphs on it to reveal a light-up sign with Eda's face winking at them. "And who doesn't like their name in lights?"
"Wow…what is that?" Lily asks.
"It's what we use in the Human Realm to bring customers to stores. Flashy lights always get people's attention." Minato said.
"What do you guys think? Is it too subtle?" Luz asks climbing down.
"Does subtle mean ugly?" Turning around they saw Boscha and her gang on the other side of the table.
"Hey Boscha, Hexsidians, see anything you like?" Luz asks.
"Ew. No I'm just here to take an ironic Penstagram photo with your weird flashing trash sign." Boscha said taking a selfie.
"That's not funny." Lily glares.
"Well what are you gonna do? Spit your human venom on me?" Boscha asks.
"You three have venom? Quick! Start melting faces!" King orders.
"Yeah we can't do that." Lily said.
"And even if we did it's not worth it. You wouldn't understand how to handle teens like her." Luz said.
"No, I'll show you what to do." King said climbing onto the table. "You will tremble before me!"
"Aww he's so cute." Bocha said picking him up and posing for a selfie with him. "How much? I have to own him."
Wiggling out of her grip, King lands on the table. "You couldn't afford me sister." King said causing all the teenagers to smile.
"Aww." They said.
"That's the incorrect reaction!" King said angered.
Popping her nose out of the tent, Eda sniffs the air.
"I smell an easy mark." Eda said before leaping out to greet them. "Hey, kid! Can I offer you the latest fashions from…" Using a magic circle, a puff appears around Eda causing a bunch of random human clothes to appear on her. "The human world?"
"Yeah no." Boscha said as they all laughed and walked away.
"Well I hate her." Eda said making the clothes disappear.
"We all do." Minato said.
"Yeah teens are sour, lucky for you we're little sweeties. Check out what I made." Luz points to her sign.
"Luz!" Eda gasps grabbing the sign and ripping it off.
"Did I spell something wrong? Or did I spell something right?" Luz smirks.
"Stop that. You may be forgetting something, Luz. I'm kinda on the run! Remember?" Eda asks showing her wanted poster. "Every guard in town would be at my doorstep if I had my name in lights."
"Yeah not to mention my whole "family" drama." Minato said thinking about his family.
"Well that you don't have to worry about, the Souwlings never go where all us common folk are, they stick to the hoity-toity parts of the Boiling Isles. You're safe in this part." Eda assures.
"I hope so." Minato said.
"Maybe you're just being paranoid. I mean there's no one else around. You're a powerful witch. Why hide when you can poof all your problems away with magic?" Luz asks.
"What does Luz know about problems anyway? All she has is dumb teen drama! She doesn't understand how hard some of us have it." King said.
"You're pampered all day like a dang baby. How hard is that life?" Eda asks.
"Well, I don't know if you realized, but I'm not a baby!" King snaps.
"Could have fooled me." Lily giggles.
"Then why are you screaming like one?" Luz teases.
"She's got you there." Minato chuckles.
"My life is a living nightmare!" King snaps.
"Well, there's only one thing to do when friends can't see eye to eye." Eda said.
"Sit down and talk about it?" Minato suggests.
"Take a breather from each other and go have fun?" Lily suggests.
"Hug each other till we pass out?" Luz asks pulling Minato, Lily and King into a group hug.
"Fight to the death!" King said.
"No, body swap!" Eda declares.
Pausing the four of them look at each other.
"Are you sure none of you shoot venom?" King asks.
"I'm out." Minato said breaking out of this.
"Right behind you." Lily said. "You three have the issues, not us."
"Fine you two can be the judges. Ah I love a good Body Swap." Eda said.
"We're doing that? That's possible? This is just like my favorite early 2000s movie! Freaky Fraturday." Luz smiles.
"Chotto matte." Minato said stopping her. "Uh Luz remember what happened in the movie? Maybe you guys should think about this real quick." Minato suggests.
"Hmm you might have a point." Luz pauses.
"Body swap!" Eda said as a gold beam came down on her, Luz and King creating a cloud of smoke.
"Ooh! Did it work? I need a mirror." From the smoke Luz's voice went towards the mirror before she ended up hitting it. "Found it."
When the smoke cleared Minato and Lily's eyes widen seeing Luz's voice coming from Eda's voice.
"I don't believe it. I'm so old and my ears are so pointy. Even pointer than Minato's." Luz said when Minato looked to Luz's body. "Whoa, it's me."
"Yeah it is, I'm the human now." King said being the one in Luz's body. "Bow before my massive meaty hands!"
"Oh my god." Minato shudders.
"That's just creepy." Lily cringed.
"Wait a minute. If I'm Eda and you're me, then that means Eda is…" Luz said when Eda clears her throat and they look to see King's body looking at them.
"How do I look?" Eda asks being the one in King's body.
"I've got some very confusing emotions right now." King said.
"Tell me about it, I don't even know how to react to this." Lily said.
"Alright, here's the deal. Whoever can prove their new body has the easiest life gets out of house cleaning duty. And you know what that means." Eda said.
"Cleaning Hooty." Minato said as they all shuddered at the thought.
"Why does he have to keep rolling in mud?" Lily asks.
"Won't be me. Life as a teen is a tyrant's dream! By the end of the day, I'll be ruling over your feeble demographic." King said.
"Well, I've got magic. Eda, don't be too mad when your inventory's gone and the guards are none the wiser." Luz said making a circle with her finger and ends up shooting a blast of magic forcing Minato to duck.
"Minato, since you and Tiger Lily don't have any current issues you two will be the neutral ones. If any of us feel like backing out you two make a note of it." Eda said.
"Sounds good to me." Lily said.
"If you need me, I'll be getting pampered on a vacation fit for a king." Eda said walking away.
"My life is not a joke!" King said pointing at Eda before looking to Luz. "But yours is. Boop." King said bobbing Luz on the nose before running off.
"So guys you want to stick around and watch me rake in the sells?" Luz asks.
"Uh no thanks I think I'm gonna go check on the others." Minato said grabbing the Monado.
"Yeah me too." Lily said grabbing her bow and quiver.
"Your loss." Luz said as they walked away.
Little did they know, the silver cloaked figure was watching from a rooftop.
As Minato had his back turned the figure was about to grab a dagger when they remembered their orders. They had to earn their trust.
Adjusting themselves the cloaked figure jumped down an ally to follow after.
At the Soulwing Manor, Edwin was standing out back as Elias was barking down notes for him to take.
"Call the contractors and have them come tomorrow. I want to see if I can these damages fixed up before the end of the week, and see if you can pick up any more metal, oh and from the market get me some of that cheese I like. What's it called?" Elias asks.
"Asiago." Edwin reminds.
"That's it." Elias said.
"I'll get a whole wheel of it." Edwin said jotting it down.
"What's going on Edwin? You seem distracted." Elias asks suspicious.
"Forgive me, sir. These last few days have overwhelming to say the least. Especially with the arrival of your grandson." Edwin said.
"Well don't worry Edwin, you'll rest easier soon enough. Soon enough my hired help with not only deal with the hybrid but the Monado will be back where it belongs." Elias said sitting down.
"Is it really worth killing your own family?" Edwin asks.
"It's just business Edwin. In the world of business, you have to weed out the weak or unnecessary or it could ruin everything. Are you forgetting how much of mess things were when his father left?" Elias reminds.
"How could I forget? It was a dark day for this family." Edwin sighs.
"If I hadn't taken control of the house again and made some changes we wouldn't still have all this Edwin." Elias gestures.
"Yes of course, after all, you were the only natural choice." Edwin said when he noticed someone sneaking down the hall.
"Correct Edwin, Main Branch of the Soulwing Code." Elias said getting up. "I have to go, meetings. I trust you can take it from here?"
"Of course, sir." Edwin nods as Elias leaves.
Immediately he looks in the direction the figure went and narrowed his eyes.
In Elias' office, we see Naomi looking around as if in search of something.
Examining the bookshelf, Naomi ran her finger along it.
"If you're looking for the documents I think you are, you're in the wrong area." Edwin said startling her.
"Edwin? What are you doing here?" Naomi asks.
"I could be asking you that. Care to share?" Edwin asks.
"Elias is hiding something from us. Minato may have the Monado but it can't be the only reason. There's something Elias knows that we don't." Naomi said.
"Quite right, but even so I live to serve the House of Souwling and I cannot knowingly let you do this." Edwin said when he drops a key. "Oh no I appear to have misplaced my key to Elias' upper right cabinet drawer in the far-right corner of the room. I hope no one takes it and sees what's inside." Edwin said faking a worried tone.
Smiling Naomi picks up the key as Edwin winks at her.
"Our little secret Edwin." Naomi said putting a finger to her lips.
"Still the same sneaky little girl from all those years ago." Edwin smirks.
"Some habits are hard to break." Naomi said as they got to work.
Back in town, Minato and Tiger Lily were walking through the streets.
"You sure we shouldn't have stuck around?" Lily asks.
"Nah, it's best to let them figure things out on their own sometimes. Besides if we had Eda might have swapped our bodies too." Minato said as Lily shudders.
"No thank you, I don't need anyone in my body but me." Lily said.
"Exactly, best just avoid any sort craz—" Before Minato could finish a sudden boom of confetti shot out knocking them both to the ground.
"What in the?" Lily looks to see down the road each booth shot confetti into the air before finally, Despairo appears in the middle.
"Guess who?!" Despairo said striking a pose. "You thought you could hide from me Miguel but after 6 years I finally found you."
"Huh?" Minato said as Despairo flew up to him.
"Hmm you're a lot smaller than the last time we met. Either that or I'm getting bigger." Despairo said holding his stomach. "Look at me from the side, do I look different to you?"
"Uh who are you?" Minato asks causing him to gasp.
"Of all the no good. Have our matches meant nothing to you that you would forget the only person on the Boiling Isles who could give you a challenge? Well, I for one am offended, Miguel." Despairo said taking out a glove and smacking Minato in the face with him.
"Okay first off. I'm not Miguel, he's my father." Minato said rubbing his face.
"Wait what?" Despairo asks confused.
"Yeah, this is Minato. His son." Lily introduced.
"Whoa, Miguel had a kid? Hmm well, now that I'm getting a better look at you I see some differences. So kid, where's your old man? Surely he's told you about his amazing battles with me." Despairo asks.
"Uh who are you?" Minato asks causing him to fall over.
"What?! How can you not know who I am?! I'm Despairo!" He snaps.
"Never heard of you." Minato said.
"Despairo, the Calamity Imp. The bringer of chaos and madness. The most powerful Imp on the Boiling Isles." Despairo lists.
"Doesn't ring a bell." Minato said.
"I'm his rival in all things magic." Despairo said.
"I thought Eda was his rival." Minato said.
Growling Despairo grabs Minato by his shirt and yanks him in.
"THAT STUPID BIRD LADY DOESN'T EVEN HOLD A CANDLE TO ME!" Despairo screams in Minato's face causing him to cringe and rub his ears in pain.
"Look I'm sorry I don't know who you are but my dad never told me about you. He's been missing for 6 years and I just came to the Boiling Isles." Minato said.
"Well guess what buddy I have 6 years worth of anger and hate for that deadbeat father of yours and I'm taking them all out on you!" Despairo snaps grabbing Minato before flying out of the town.
"Minato!" Lily gasps running after them.
On the outskirts of town, Despairo threw Minato to the ground causing him to tumble.
"What was that about?" Minato groans.
"After battling your old man all the time I realized it's easier when we're out of town, don't do as much damage." Despairo said about to attack him again when an arrow flew in scraping his shoulder causing him to cringe.
"Back off you little man!" Lily said running onto the hill nearby. "You want him you'll have to go through me first." Loading an arrow, she fires again but this time Despairo draws his rapier slashing it in half.
"Not gonna work toots!" Despairo said about to charge in when Minato swings in with a Rasengan. "What in the?!"
"Rasengan!" Minato said slamming it into him sending the little limp flying backward crashing into a tree.
"Nice trick." Lily said coming down.
"Thanks for the opening. Oh man just what I needed. Another person who's angry at my dad." Minato groans.
"Of all the days for Eda to do that stupid Body Swap." Lily said when Despairo flew towards them.
"Cute trick kid, let me show you some of mine." Despairo said pointing his rapier at him. "En garde."
Drawing the Monado, Minato braces himself as Despairo leaps in at him forcing him to block but the little imp was bouncing and leaping around dodging Minato's attack and hitting him from all angles.
Leaping up Despairo brings the rapier down but Minato makes the Monado use shield mode allowing him to deflect the attack.
Rebounding back Despairo looks to see some arrows fly in forcing him to dodge and slash.
"For a little guy he moves fast." Lily said
"You want fast? Check this out." Making a magic circle the ground under Lily and Minato started to move like they were on a giant DJ record as Despairo spun them back and forth quickly throwing off their balance. "Flip it!" Flipping upwards Minato and Lily flew into the air and crashed into the nearby lake.
Resurfacing Minato and Lily gasp for air only to see Despairo holding his sides laughing at them.
"Oh man I wish you could see the looks on your faces right now." Despairo said taking a picture. "Aw yeah that's a keeper."
Suddenly an arrow flew in and tied around his arms.
"Wha?!" Looking up he see Lily holding him down.
"Blast him!" Lily yells.
"Sky Dragon's Roar!" Minato yells blasting Despairo into the water across from them.
"You sneaky little." Despairo said breaking out of the rope.
"Back off Despairo. You don't know what you're dealing with." Minato said.
"Hmm good point." Despairo said flying up to him. "Hold still for a second." Making a magic circle, Despairo unzipped the top part of Minato's head like a zipper.
"Hey what the heck are you—" Before Minato could finish Despairo sticks his hand in there and pulls out a filing cabinet silencing Minato midsentence as his whole head shuts down causing Lily to panic.
"Put it back! Put it back!" Lily orders.
"Oh take it easy, I'll put it all back once I'm done I just need a little refresher on this kid." Despairo said reading a file from him. "Hmm, okay he really is Miguel's kid that checks out. Hmm uh huh uh-huh. Specialty wind magic, yeah I got that. Wait what's this…ooh now I can use this. This is too good." Despairo grins putting the file back in and zipping it up causing Minato to gasp.
"That was so wrong." Minato shudders.
"You think that was bad? I found something very interesting while I was digging around in there. If you want to beat me you'll have to get through someone else first." Despairo said making a magic circle and poured tons of magical power into it.
"Minato, what's happening?" Lily asks confused.
"I don't know." Minato said when from the magic circle Minato's eyes widen in shock to see a teenage girl with brown skin, brown hair, blue clothes and little hair loops on each side of her face. "Oh boy, we're dead."
"Uh Minato, who is she and why are you so scared of her?" Lily gulps.
"Buckle up sweetheart you're gonna laugh at this. Meet Katara, and get this, apparently, your friend there has a crush a fictional girl." Despairo laughs holding his sides.
"Are you serious?" Lily said looking at Minato. "What kind of person has a crush on a fictional character?"
"Everyone has a fictional crush. I guarantee you everyone in the human world who has seen a movie, show or even read a book has a crush on at least one character." Minato said.
"So what? What makes her so dangerous?" Lily asks when Katara bends a whip of water at them forcing them to leap out of the way.
"That's why. She's a waterbender and we're by a lake." Minato said.
"Oh boy." Lily said seeing the problem.
"Oh am I gonna enjoy this. Take'em down!" Despairo orders as Katara fires multiple blasts of water at them.
"Run!" Minato said as they ran out of the water as quick as they could when Katara froze the water under their legs trapping them.
"I gotta say kid, you know how to pick'em. I can see why you like her. So tough and not to mention very pretty." Despairo teases.
"I never thought I would go down like this." Minato mutters when suddenly glowing daggers flew in and pierced the ice allowing them to move.
"Huh?" Turning around they saw the cloaked figure.
"I suggest you move quickly." They said with a voice revealing the figure was female.
"Who are you?" Minato asks.
"A friend." She said as she makes a magic circle and a glowing sword appears.
"Got a name?" Lily asks as they got out of the water.
"Names later, fight now." She suggests.
"Fine by me." Minato said as they all readied their weapons.
"Alright water girl, let them have it!" Despairo orders gripping his rapier and Katara bended some water.
Meanwhile at the Soulwing Manor, Naomi was unlocking the cabinet drawer while Edwin looked the other way pretending, he wasn't a part of this.
"Please hurry ma'am you may not have a cover but I have to make sure my boss has his cheese." Edwin said.
"I'm going as fast as I can." Naomi said when she finds a stack of letters. "Wait these are all from Miguel."
Looking over his shoulder Edwin sees Naomi holding half a dozen letters with Miguel Nakamura written on the sender's side.
"They're all unopened." Naomi said in a shocked tone
"They're not what we're looking for, keep looking." Edwin said hiding the sad look on his face.
Putting the letters down, Naomi sees a small leather book with a carving of the Monado on the front.
"Hang on I think I found it." Naomi said opening it but as she scanned the pages her eyes widen.
"Uh Edwin, you might want to have a look at this." Naomi said handing him the little book.
Taking it, Edwin scans the page before pausing.
"I don't believe it." Edwin said speechless.
"Edwin this changes everything." Naomi said.
"Quick take a picture of it, we can't let Elias know we snooped around." Edwin said as Naomi took multiple pics of the documents before putting them away and giving Edwin back his key.
"What do we do now?" Naomi asks getting up.
"Share this with no one, we have to move in secret. If we don't the lives of Minato and those he holds dear could be in grave danger." Edwin said in a serious tone.
"Right." Naomi nods in agreement.
Back at the lake, fights were breaking out all over.
As Minato fired multiple wind attacks Despairo slashes them away with his rapier before flicking it at Minato forcing him to block with his sword.
"Dodge, parry, thrust, whoops too slow." Despairo said swatting Minato. "Come on, you're supposed to be Miguel's kid."
"Why you." As the Monado turns into buster mode, Minato swings it like a bat making Despairo tumble backwards.
Nearby Katara had both Lily and the cloaked figure pinned down with her powerful water attacks.
Leaping behind some rocks Lily fires her arrows while the cloaked figure hurls glowing daggers at Katara who makes a wall of water to block it.
"Of all the fictional girls Minato had to have a crush on he had to like the one that can wipe the floor with all of us. If I live through this, I need to learn some magic." Lily grumbles.
"Give me an opening." The cloaked figure said as her sword glowed silver.
Drawing three arrows, Lily fires forcing Katara to block allowing the cloaked figure to charge in.
As Katara flicks a water whip at her, the cloaked figure slashes the water in half with her magic sword before charging in and kicks her in the chest making her fall back.
Using this chance, the figure leaps in to slam her sword down but at the last second Katara released a geyser up sending her flying back and crashing to the ground.
"Once I beat you, then your lousy father will learn his lesson." Depsairo said blasting Minato back.
Swinging his sword, Minato attempts to shut him up but Despairo dodges them all with ease.
Clashing weapons Minato and Despairo struggle to push each other back but Despairo flips back before lunging forward ramming into Minato knocking him to the ground.
"This'll show you Miguel! This is what you get when mess with me and get my hopes up only to ditch me and leave your dumb kid to fight your battles!" Despairo calls out getting Minato's attention.
As Katara has Lily and the cloaked figure pinned down Minato slowly gets up.
Holding out his hand wind started to spin around his arm as a tornado spun around him.
"Cyclone Slam!" Minato yells hurling his arm forward and the tornado slams into Katara and Despairo sending them flying out of the lake and onto the ground.
Growling Despairo sees Minato walking towards him.
"It's over Despairo I'm finishing this." Minato said determined stabbing the Monado into the ground.
"You think you can beat me? What are you gonna do?" Despairo glares as Minato stops in front of him.
"Something that should have been done a long time ago." Minato said grabbing him.
Getting up Katara, Lily and Cloaked Figure look to see Minato pull Despairo into a hug surprising everyone especially Despairo.
"W-What are you doing?" Despairo asks confused.
"You don't hate my dad, you're mad at him because he's gone and you spent the last 6 years all alone. I don't think you were enemies in fact I think you were good friends. These matches you and my dad had, they weren't to stop you from causing chaos, were they?" Minato asks.
Hearing this Desapiro tears up as a memory came back to him.
Flashback:
A young Miguel and Despairo were on their knees tired while some parts of the Boiling Isles were in a wreck.
"Boy you and I really caused quite a mess, next time let's do this outside of town." Miguel said surprising him.
"Next time?" Despairo asks confused.
"Well yeah, you get your full powers twice a year so we should do this every time you get them back." Miguel offers.
"You actually want to do this again? Are you crazy?" Despairo asks.
"I like to say weird after all use weirdoes gotta stick together. So what do you say? Wanna do this again? Could be fun." Miguel offers holding out a hand.
"Yeah…yeah I guess it could be." Despairo smiles.
"Then it's settled. From now on you don't destroy the town and I'll battle you whenever you want." Miguel smiles.
Flashback End:
"No. They were…the most fun I ever had and now my best friend ditched me!" Despairo chokes hugging Minato back. "Why did he go?!"
"Hey it's okay, I know the feeling. That's how I felt when he disappeared, and it's hard to let new people into your life, but you don't have to be angry and alone." Minato said letting go.
"I don't?" Despairo asks as Minato held out his hand.
"Will you let me be your friend, Despairo?" Minato smiles.
Seeing his smiling face, Despairo smiles back as he tears up and shook Minato's hand. "Call me Dez. I always a friend to call me that."
"Sure thing Dez." Minato said.
"Well look at that." Lily smiles impressed. "What do you think of—" Lily looked to see their cloaked friend had disappeared. "Where'd she go?" Lily asks looking around.
"So uh Dez what are you gonna do about her?" Minato asks looking to Katara.
"Hmm…ooh I know what to do." Dez waves his hand and Katara blinks confused.
"Huh? Where am I?" Katara asks looking around.
"What did you do?" Minato asks.
"I took my spell off her, so now instead of just wanting to fight I thought I would give her back her personality." Dez explains.
"But why are you keeping her around?" Minato asks.
"I put more than half my magic into making her come to life and I'm not throwing that away besides it might be nice to have another friend." Dez admits.
"So wait, what's going on here?" Katara asks walking over.
"I'll explain everything to you later, Katara. I promise." Dez smiles.
"Well at least that solves one problem." Minato said as Lily walked over. "Hey Lily where'd our help go?"
"I don't know, she just disappeared." Lily shrugs.
"Well lets go find Luz, King and Eda. Hopefully, by now, they've calmed down." Minato said when Katara noticed something.
"Uh I don't know who your friends are but that does not look calm." Katara points to show angry teens and guards racing through the streets.
"Uh Minato how bad do you think they might have messed up that whole Body Swap thing?" Lily gulps when an explosion.
"After her!" Lilith's voice roars.
"Bad very bad." Minato said as they ran after them.
As it turned out they were far worse. Eda tried to use King's body to try and get pampered hand and foot but because of her cute little body she ended up getting captured by Roselle and Dottie two crazy old ladies who run a kitty café where small creatures are basically babied until their minds turn to mush.
King used Luz's body to become the boss of Boscha's gang, and ended up being challenged by Boscha to a race and ended up destroying their shack.
Luz tried to use her advertisement to help Eda with her sales and while she did make tons of sales, she ended up getting captured by the Emperor's Guards and Lilith almost instantly because of all the lights.
Running through the streets, Luz and Owlbert were looking around frantically.
"Okay, if I were Eda and Eda is King, where would I be? Ah! This thing's so confusing. Where's Minato when I need him?" Luz panics.
Suddenly she heard a knocking on some glass.
Looking at the Kitty Café, Luz saw Eda trapped in a bee costume and King in a t-shirt that said Volunteer.
"Luz! Bring my dang body over here." Eda orders.
"Eda." Luz smiles.
Inside the store, Dottie and Roselle were talking.
"Oh, look, Dottie. It's not kidnapping if they entered our store. Just think of it as good customer service." Roselle said as Luz ran to the window. Using her magic she ended up transforming the lamp. "Why did our lamp get unnecessarily extravagant?"
Suddenly they heard the door open and saw Luz trying to sneak Eda and King out.
"Go, go, go!" Luz said as they made a run for it.
"After them!" Roselle shrieks as Dottier growls in anger.
"What weird stuff did you get my body into?" Luz asks as they turned a corner to see Lilith, the guards and a snarling dog glaring at them.
"There they are!" Lilith points.
"I have the same question." Eda said as they tried to run away only to see Boscha's gang flying in on flying shoes.
"Oh dang I forgot about them." King said.
"Alright. Did everybody learn a valuable lesson about experiencing each other's hardships?" Eda asks.
"Yep." King and Luz nod.
"Good, let's end this nightmare. Body swap!" Eda said putting them back in their bodies.
"My body! My glorious little body!" King smiles.
"Sister, time and again I've offered you my help, yet you foolishly run back to your worthless life. I'm tired of trying, Edalyn. Your days of running are over!" Lilith snaps.
"Thanks Luz." Eda glares.
"Sorry, don't suppose you know how to get out of this?" Luz asks when suddenly the trash cans around them started to shake violently before confetti shot out of them.
"Guess who?!" Despairo said making his dramatic entrance.
"Aww who's that cutie?" Luz smiles.
"Despairo." Eda said in horror.
"The Calamity Imp!" Lilith gasps.
"So you guys played around with Body Swap? I prefer head swap." Despairo said as the heads of everyone but Eda, Luz and King came off and Despairo juggled them around like balls.
"Luz get behind me." Eda said as they stepped back in fear.
"Psst." Turning around they saw Minato and Lily gesturing for them to follow.
Smiling they all ran towards them as Dez puts their heads down but on different bodies.
"How dare you! Put my head back on my body!" Lilith said with her head on the dog's body.
"If you ask me it's an improvement." Dez laughs taking a camera out and snapping a picture. "Oh yeah that's a keeper going right on Penstagram."
Down the street, Minato and Lily brought them out and instantly Luz hugged him.
"Thank you, guys you saved our lives." Luz smiles.
"Oh uh no problem." Minato blushes.
"Where were you guys?" King asks.
"Sorry we got tangled up with our own problems." Lily said.
Making their way out they see Katara and Dez waiting for them.
"How was that buddy?" Dez asks.
"Hilarous. Thanks a lot." Minato smiles as they high-five.
"What the?" Luz said surprised.
"Why are you two all chummy?" Eda asks.
"Because Dez here is my new friend." Minato smiles.
"You guys are werider than my old team." Katara said getting their attention.
While Luz drops her jaw in shock, Eda and King looked out her interested.
"Another human?" King asks.
"Wait, who are you?" Eda asks.
"Oh I'm Katara, nice to meet you all." Katara smiles.
"Uh Minato what is going on here? I am freaking out." Luz whispers.
"Well you see Dez dug around in my head a bit and ended up bringing anime crush to life." Minato cringed causing her to laugh.
"You still have that crush on her." Luz snickers.
"You don't get to judge me. I've seen the way you look at Zuko." Minato said.
Luz was about to counter but couldn't. "Touche Nakamura."
"So what's the deal with you know Despairo, you got your own kid now?" Eda asks.
"Why not? If someone like you can handle three and furball with anger issues why can't I?" Dez said.
"Why you little." Eda growls.
"We can talk later. That spell will wear off and we don't want to be here when it does." Dez said as they made a break for it.
"Hey Eda, any chance you can let me in on those magic lessons?" Lily asks.
"You want to be a witch too?" Eda asks.
"Think you can handle a third student Owl Lady?" Lily asks.
"Ha. No problem." Eda said.
As they ran off the cloaked figure watched them and narrowed her eyes.
"Phase one complete. Now I'm one step closer." She said before leaving.
