Chapter 19: Blanca's Choice
Hey everyone I'm back with a new chapter. I've been planning this one out for a while and I think you'll be surprised by everything. Also if you haven't heard the news, Owl House episodes are coming back in March! Oh man I can't wait to see those. I hope you like what I have planned. Please Review and Enjoy.
We find ourselves in a large house, where a young Blanca around 8 years old dressed in a white fencing like outfit. As she looked at herself in the mirror, she tied her hair back in a ponytail.
"This is the day. Time to make your family proud." Blanca said taking a deep breath before opening the door and running down the stairs.
As she neared the room, she noticed a man and woman waiting in the room making her smile widely, but when she arrived she stops in her tracks seeing a young boy around 10 years old with brown hair just like her being presented with a fancy encrusted sword.
"Lionel, your mother and I could not be prouder of you. Which is why we have agreed that you should be the one to have the family sword." Their father said holding it out.
"Thank you." Lionel said slowly reaching out for it.
"Your parents protected my house for years with that sword. It's an honor to wield it." A very fancy-dressed witch said.
"W-What? Lionel?" Blanca said confused as he turns to her.
"Pretty cool huh Blanca?" Lionel said showing her the blade.
"B-But I'm the swordsman, you've never shown any signs of it before." Blanca said confused.
"It's amazing Blanca one week of training and he won his first tournament. They're calling your brother a prodigy." Her mother said.
"I could be the next Miguel Soulwing." Lionel declares.
"But…I thought was gonna get the family sword." Blanca said with hurt in her voice.
"Sorry Blanca but the sword goes to the best swordsman in the family." The noblewoman said. "I need to make sure my family is guarded by only the best."
"Maybe when you get good enough to take me on they'll consider it." Lionel smirks as a look of pain and hurt appeared on her face.
Turning away Blanca walks out of the room trying to hide her emotions.
Flashback End:
We see Blanca at her current age waiting outside Hexside.
Taking a deep breath, she noticed one of the new Assassins watching her from the treetops to make sure she held up her end.
Suddenly she heard a noise from the forest. Jumping back, she was about to summon a weapon when Hachi ran out of the forest to the school.
"A Palisman?" Blanca said not expecting that.
Running inside, Blanca sees Hachi wait at his usual spot until Minato, Katara, Luz and Lily walked out a few minutes later.
"Hachi." Minato smiles.
Barking happily, Hachi ran to greet him.
"Hey it's good to see you too little guy." Minato said petting his head.
"I think I'm onto something guys. I'm this close to making a new glyph." Luz said.
"What? That means you'll be three elements to my two." Minato whines.
"Uh oh looks like someone is jealous of a little competition." Luz teases.
"Still stronger than you." Minato counters.
"Never a dull moment with these two." Lily giggles.
"You know Minato if you want to learn a new element I can give you some water tips sometime." Katara offers.
"You really think you could teach me?" Minato asks interested.
"I taught Aang. I think I can handle it." Katara smirks.
"Ha! I'll be tied with you in one time Luz." Minato said proudly.
"We'll see. Hey we all doing study group later?" Luz asks.
"I think so." Katara said when Blanca walks out.
"Uh hey guys." Blanca said nervously.
"Blanca? Hey what are you doing here?" Minato asks.
"I uh have some news that I wanted to share with you guys the Owl Lady. It's pretty big and I thought Eda would be interested." Lily said.
"What is it?" Lily asks.
"I'll explain when we're all together." Blanca said walking with them.
"Wait a second, Blanca is that cloaked girl that I fought a while ago?" Katara points.
"Yeah, she's been hanging around us for a while. She's really good with a sword." Luz said.
"I bet she could even give Hook and his pirates a run for his money." Lily said.
"Well if you practice as much as I did you'd be good too." Blanca said.
"Maybe you can show me a few sometime." Minato asks.
"You guys sure talk about practice a lot." Blanca said.
"Well when you've got a lot to prove like us. You work hard to learn as much as we can." Lily smiles.
Cringing Blanca couldn't admit it but she knew exactly what they were talking about.
Flashback:
We find ourselves in a large room, there Blanca who was in her preteens had a wooden sword in her hand and was facing off against her opponent.
Charging in Blanca and her opponent clashed trying to force the other back.
Going on the attack, Blanca countered her opponent forcing them back towards the edge.
But just as she knocks her opponent off the arena another readies himself.
Turning around Blanca is forced to go on the defensive as her opponent attacks.
Jumping back Blanca gracefully dodges the strike.
Coming up again her opponent swings, Blanca spins on her back heel and dodges the attack.
Using the momentum, she swings her sword upward knocking the sword out of her opponent's hand and flying into the air.
Looking up, Blanca saw it flying up near the door.
Reaching out with one hand a teenage Lionel caught it with ease.
"Whoa a little control issues, huh?" Lionel said as Blanca turns to him.
"I'm in the middle of something Lionel." Blanca glares.
"A little brotherly advice, if you weren't always trying too hard you wouldn't be running out of sparring partners." Lionel said gesturing to her two opponents.
"Actually Lionel this is called training and I run out because I beat all my other partners." Blanca said.
"Still can't beat me." Lionel said.
"You wanna try?" Blanca challenges raising her sword at him.
"Why not? I have a few minutes." Lionel said climbing up onto the arena. "You two head out, you've done enough for today."
"Hey don't boss around my friends." Blanca said as they left.
"You don't have any friends Blanca." Lionel deadpans making her growl in anger.
"I'm gonna enjoy this." Blanca said as the two took their stances.
Moving in both siblings clash, as Blanca went of the attack Lionel was able to block and dodge all her attacks.
As she lunges forwards, Lionel dodges ands sweeps the leg making her trip.
"Too slow." Lionel chuckles.
Growling Blanca got up again and attacks.
Dodging it, Lionel went of the attack and Blanca struggled. They were so quick and fluent. It was like when she blocked, he could make another one almost instantly.
Being forced back Blanca neared the edge.
Swinging his sword, Lionel knocks Blanca to the ground and the sword out of her hands.
Groaning in pain, Blanca looks up to see Lionel catch her sword and pointed them both at her face.
"I win again." Lionel chuckles dropping the swords down by her.
Blanca was about to say something when the door opens revealing their parents.
"Lionel, there you are. What are you doing they're waiting for us?" Their father asks.
"Sorry dad, Blanca just wanted to have a little match." Lionel said.
"Blanca how many times have we told you to stop bothering your brother?" Their mother asks helping Lionel off. "He needs to concentrate on his duties."
"Wait." Blanca lifts her head up to see they didn't offer to help her up.
"Your mother and I have big plans Lionel and we need to make sure you're in top condition." Their father said as the three of them walked together.
"I always am Dad." Lionel smiles proudly.
"Come Lionel, they're waiting for you. They can't leave without their loyal bodyguards." Their father said as they led him out.
"As for you, make sure that your brother isn't distracted by all of your noise!" Blanca's mother calls out before closing the door.
"I promise I won't make a peep." Blanca frowns still lying on the ground all alone.
Flashback End:
On the outskirts of Bonesborough, Blanca was leading Minato, Luz, Eda, King, Tiger Lily and Katara were heading into the forest towards a ravine.
"I heard that a shipment of supplies heading for the Emperor's Coven fell down that ravine. If we hurry you might be able to get a good amount of it before they show up." Blanca explains.
"Robbing from the Emperor's Coven? Oh baby this is my kind of heist. Good job girl." Eda smiles clapping her on the back.
"I take back most of the things I've ever said about you Blanca." King said.
"Lead the way." Eda gestures.
Slowly walking down the trail to the ravine, Blanca looked up to see an assassin in the distance before moving ahead to the meeting spot.
"So Blanca where do you go to school? You're obviously not a Hexside student." Katara asks.
"Oh uh I used to go Boarding School but I had to leave." Blanca said.
"Hey no shame with being a school dropout. I hated school with a passion." Eda said.
"Seriously you should have seen how much she hated to send the three of us to school." Lily giggles.
"So I heard you're the one who introduced Minato to Powerball." Eda said.
"Yeah he even asked me to help him learn to ride those skates." Blanca said.
"And let me tell you I was a wreck with those things." Minato chuckles.
"Hey maybe you can teach me." Luz said.
"You need magic in your body to ride those things Luz." Minato points out.
"Aw man." Luz groans.
As Blanca led them further and further into ravine the guilt in her grew more and more. Especially with all the fun and wild things they were talking about doing with her when this is over.
Nobody ever wanted to do stuff like that with her before.
Flashback:
Finally we see Blanca who was 13 years old walking down the hall with a saddened look on her face.
Walking into her parent's room, they were doing some reading when they see Blanca holding a suitcase.
"Well I'm off to Boarding School." Blanca said.
Looking in her direction her parents just nod in acknowledgement.
"Uh I love you." Blanca said but neither responded.
Frowning Blanca walks out to see Lionel by the door.
"See you round sis. I hope you while you're there you find something you're good at." Lionel waves.
Growling, Blanca gives him the finger.
"I am good at things. You're just always better at everything I do." Blanca said sticking her tongue out at him.
As Blanca made her way out, she turns around and looks at the house hoping that someone would step outside to see her off.
But no one came.
Entering the carriage Blanca left her home behind and almost instantly she broke down into tears.
Flashback End:
In front of a small cavern Eda sees a handful of snails and jewels laying on the ground.
"We're close kids. Looks like we beat the Emperor's Coven to it." Eda smiles picking them up.
"Yep, the rest is just on the other side." Blanca said looking away.
"I can't believe I ever doubted you, Blanca." Eda smiles walking ahead.
"Maybe we shouldn't do this." Blanca said.
"What do you mean? This was your idea." Minato said.
"Look this is the Emperor's Coven we're talking about. We could get in trouble if they find out." Blanca said trying to get them to backout.
"We're only in trouble if we don't get caught." King said.
"No we're trouble either way." Blanca counters.
"Geez what's with you?" Katara asks.
"Nothing. Let's just keep moving." Blanca said walking ahead.
"You're not used to this kind of stuff, are you?" Minato asks walking alongside.
"Well…" Blanca cringed not sure what to say.
"Hey don't worry about it. If you get into any trouble, we'll help you." Minato assures.
"Y-You will?" Blanca said not expecting that.
"Yeah I mean when you think about all the times you've helped us we'd help you in a heartbeat." Lily said.
"Why? Why would you help me if I was in danger?" Blanca asks.
"Because you're our friend. We don't need a reason to help a friend." Luz smiles as they walked ahead of Blanca leaving her all the way in the back.
Looking up Blanca saw the three assassins leave to prepare for the attack.
"Hey Blanca, you alright back there?" Minato calls out.
Not being able to hold it in anymore Blanca ran to her friends.
"Get down." Blanca orders.
"Huh?" All of them said confused.
"Get down and keep your voice low." Blanca whispers.
"What's going on with you?" King asks.
"On other side of this ravine…there's an ambush waiting for you." Blanca confesses surprising them.
"A what?" Lily gasps.
"What do you mean Ambush?" Luz asks when Katara realized something.
"You set us up." Katara accuses.
"I don't believe it. You're the one Edwin warned me about. You're the assassin that Elias hired to kill Minato." Eda realized.
"The what?" King gasps.
"Assassin?" Minato said confused. "Blanca tell me that's not true."
But the look on her face said otherwise. "It was my job okay. I was ordered to take out Minato and get the Monado but then—"
"You sold us out for a bigger paycheck!" Eda interrupts.
"How could you?! We thought you were our friend!" Luz said.
"Blanca." Minato said with a hurt look on his face. "After everything we've been through? It was all a lie?"
His newest friend wasn't even his friend. She wanted to kill him.
"No. Well at first it was. I'm sorry." Blanca apologized.
"No you're not." Eda said shoving her against the wall and pointing her staff at her neck. "But you're gonna be."
"Please listen. I can help you." Blanca said.
"Stay close to me kids, we'll fight our way out." Eda orders.
"No you can't. These assassins will overwhelm you; you can't protect them all. Please I can help. You have to trust me." Blanca begs.
"Trust you?! You're the reason we're in this mess! Why would you even think about trusting you?!" Eda snaps.
"Because I'm your only chance for you all making it out alive." Blanca declares.
Pausing all of them looked to each other.
"Look me in the eyes and say you want to help us." Minato orders.
Turning to him, Blanca looks Minato in the eyes.
"I want to help." Blanca said.
On the other side of the ravine, the Three Demon assassins were hiding behind the rocks ready to attack.
"Took you long enough." Blanca said walking to them from behind.
"Nice to see you held up your end of the deal." The leader said.
"In about 2 minutes the Hybrid will exit from behind those rocks." Blanca points to an opening.
"Hey I see the Owl Lady, and she has the Monado." A Triad said noticing Eda with the Monado on her back walking towards them.
"None of you give away our position until you see the Hybrid. He's the one we want." The leader said.
Slowly sneaking down Blanca approached the second assassin.
"You know, if you Elias paid big bucks for that sword but the Emperor's Coven wants twice that amount for her." Blanca whispers.
"I know. I would snap her neck and it would be so easy." He said whispers.
"Well…what are you waiting for?" Blanca urged.
As Eda looked around for the treasure the Second Demon member appeared behind her.
Grabbing her by the neck, the Demon twisted it around to snap it.
However Eda just looked at him with a smirk.
"Hey thanks, I've had that crick in my neck for weeks." Eda smirks.
"What?" He gasps as Eda blasts him with staff sending him crashing into the wall.
"Next time do your research." Eda said snapping her neck back into place.
"No! I said wait for the hybrid!" The Leader said as the third demon leaped out to help.
Looking at Blanca she just shrugged pretending to be innocent.
Seeing he had no choice the Leader drew his sword and went on the attack.
Groaning the thrid demon drew his weapon to counter when Luz and King fly in on Owlbert.
"Surprise!" King yells grabbing him by the head and scratching him.
"Get off me you little rodent!" He said trying to shake him off.
Acting quickly Luz threw two ice glyphs down trapping him where he stood.
"Hit him Luz just like we practiced!" Eda said.
"Sorry Owlbert!" Swinging the staff with all her might Luz knocked the demon out cold. "Ha! I did it! I knocked out an assassin all by myself!" Luz cheers feeling on top of the world.
"Hoo hoo." Owlbert said.
"Right sorry we did." Luz quickly correcting herself when she noticed a fancy looking glove on the ground. "Hmm what's this?"
"Those are magic gloves. You put magic into it and it makes your hits stronger." Eda said as Luz put it on her right hand.
"Hmm." Putting an ice glyph on it, Ice surrounded Luz's fist. "Oh yeah, now we're talking." Luz grins finally having a weapon.
"That's mine!" Snapping out of it, the third Demon has spikes come out of his left glove.
Yelping Luz and King made a run for it to avoid being slashed in half.
As the second demon hurled a chain to swing out, a whip and water whip suddenly flew out and wrapped around it.
Down below Lily and Katara yanked him down to their level.
Taking a deep breath Katara blew steam at him freezing him against the rocks.
"Let's see you get out of that." Lily smirks.
Roaring the second Demon managed to rip his arm free.
"Hey you asked." Katara points out.
Coming out of hiding, Minato looked around to see if the coast was clear.
"Found you hybrid." Turning around Minato saw the leader demon with his sword drawn approaching him. "There's quite the bounty on you. One with a lot of zeros. Any thoughts?"
"Yeah, I really wish Eda didn't have my Monado right now." Minato said taking a defensive karate stance.
Roaring he charges but Minato ducks dodging the attack.
Swinging a roundhouse, he nails the Demon assassin the gut.
'If I live through this, I owe Ojichan and Obachan a big thanks for all those karate lessons they made me take.' Minato thought.
"Sky Dragon's Wing Attack!" Swinging his arms, Minato blasts the assassin back with a powerful gale.
As dark magic surrounded the assassin, he hurled dark glowing chains at him.
Yelping Minato uses the Counter Shield to deflect the attack but one chain got through and wrapped around his leg.
Yanking him in Minato falls to the ground.
"Gale Palm!" Thrusting his arm forward Minato tried to blow the assassin away but he still stood strong.
"Minato!" Running in Blanca summons her sword.
"Come on Blanca, let's bring this hybrid down." He orders.
However instead Blanca summons her sword and cuts the chain freeing him.
"What are you doing?" He gasps.
"Leave my friend alone." Blanca hisses making Minato smile.
"You do know what Elias said would happen if you helped." He reminds.
"I don't care. I'm done being a killer. If you want to get to them, you'll have to go through me too!" Blanca declares.
"So be it!" Charging in both of them clashed swords.
Firing a chain at her Blanca sidesteps creates multiple daggers.
Throwing them at him with the assassin uses his sword to deflect them.
Lunging forward Blanca knocks him back.
Little did they know all three fights were making the rocks above them shake.
Making a magic circle, Eda fires multiple owl shaped logs that tied the assassin up.
Using this opening, Luz swings her fist and nails him with an ice fist to the face.
"Oh yeah I could get used to this having a weapon thing." Luz said.
Glowing green, Lily summons a spirit crocodile.
Snarling the spirit croc attacks the assassin demon.
Holding it back by its teeth he struggled to push him back.
Using this opening, Katara blasts him with a torrent of water sending him crashing down next to his ally.
Making an air scooter, Minato races behind the assassin.
"Sky Dragon's Roar!" Minato uses his breath attack blasts the assassin making him cringe in pain.
Firing a chain upwards he escapes the attack.
Setting his sights on the traitor he dives at Blanca forcing her to block.
"Such a waste." The assassin growls.
Swinging with all his might he knocks her to the ground next to Minato.
"No one to save you now." The leader said readying his sword.
'My wind magic isn't strong enough to beat him, guess I need to do a new trick.' Concentrating Minato grabbed his hand and lightning began to form in it.
"I've never seen lightning magic used like that before." Blanca said in awe as it made a loud chirping noise.
"Chidori!" Minato roars charging at him at full speed.
Thrusting his hand forward Minato shatters the sword sending the assassin crashing next to his allies banging into the rocks causing the ravine to rumble.
Looking up they the rocks begin to shake violently.
"Rock slide!" Luz yells.
"Everybody out!" Eda yells extending her staff and yanking Luz and King out. Making ice appear in front of them, Katara and Tiger Lily slide out. Clicking his feet, Minato's powerball skates shot out.
"Hang on Blanca!" Minato said mustering whatever magic he had left and the two of them raced out as all the rocks came down burying the assassins under the rubble.
Outside the ravine, all of the Owl House residents climbed out of the rubble were covered in dirt and a few bruises.
"Alright give me a headcount. Who's not dead?" Eda calls out.
Groaning all of them raised their hands.
"Okay that's everyone. Thanks kid." Eda said handing Minato back the Monado.
"So what do we do now?" Luz asks.
Sighing Eda reached into her pocket and pulled out the address Edwin gave her.
"I know what we need to do, but I'm too tired to make it all the way there." Eda said.
"I bet if called Despairo he could help get us all there." Katara suggests.
"We're too far out for him to find." Minato points out.
"We need a place to lay low and heal until Dez arrives." Lily said.
"Preferably one where they wouldn't think to look." King said.
"I know a place." Blanca said getting their attention.
Soon they were at the old worn-down house that Blanca had been hiding out in.
"Whoa what happened this place?" King said looking around.
"If this is another one of your traps." Katara glares.
"It's not. Look this place has been abandoned for over 3 years. No one's come here." Blanca assures.
Using her light glyphs, Luz made a ball of light allowing them to see the interior.
"Hey look at that." Luz said noticing the partially covered painting.
"Whoa they look fancy." Lily said.
"Oh yeah I've heard of this family. I think they were called the Warrior Witch Family." Eda cringed.
"Hold still." Katara said sitting her down so she could heal her.
"Y-You do?" Blanca said surprised.
"They were a witch family skilled in sword combat and in charge of guarding a high-ranking family. Then one day that family died in an accident and the Warrior Witch Family left to start over. Guess they were too ashamed to keep doing the bodyguard thing." Eda recalls.
"That story is a lie." Blanca said getting their attention. "It was no accident. The second they realized they had the chance for a better life they took it and left behind everything they didn't want anymore."
Reaching up Blanca yanks down the blanket revealing the entire painting.
Eyes widening in shock they saw Blanca was in the corner of the painting. The three people in it were her parents and older brother.
"Blanca…this is your home?" Luz asks in disbelief.
"What's left of it." Blanca gestures.
"I-I don't understand, why are you here all alone? Blanca why didn't you go with them?" Minato asks.
"I told you, they left behind everything they didn't want." Blanca frowns walking down the stairs and towards a series of shelves covered by a curtain.
"I was born into this family. Before I even considered being an assassin all I wanted to do was make my family proud. I would train for hours on end perfecting my skills, but none of that mattered because no matter how hard I worked all my parents cared about was Lionel the Golden Child." Blanca said pulling it back.
Looking at it they saw tons of first place trophies, medals and awards all addressed to Lionel.
"Your brother won all these?" Lily said surprised.
"Dang good thing he wasn't the assassin." King said and Lily bonks him on the head. "Ow! Hey!"
Gesturing to her Lily signaled for King to zip it.
As Minato scanned the entire wall the only thing, he saw that had Blanca's name was a small second-place trophy next to Lionel's first place.
"All of them, they would brag about him all the time. Whatever Lionel needed they made sure he got it. It was like I didn't even exist. And when he got the family sword my parents eventually realized with each passing year…they did not want me anymore. So they sent me away to boarding school. Out of sight out of mind." Blanca chokes.
"Well that's no entirely true. I mean Minato and I were gonna be sent to camp because our parents wanted us to better ourselves." Luz said trying to make her feel better.
"Yeah that's what I thought. I thought they sent me away to help me better myself. Then one day I got word that the family we were assigned to protect was in danger. I rushed back thinking my family would want me by their side as we did our sword duty, but when I returned…" Blanca hangs her head.
Flashback:
As thunder and lightning echoed from outside we see a horrified Blanca looking at something off screen.
When the lightning flashed, we see two shadows with swords piercing their bodies.
"How could this have happened?" Blanca said looking around. "Mother! Father! Lionel! Anyone!"
As she searched her home, she saw almost everything of value was stolen and no sign of anyone.
Making her way to last room, she heard the sound of movement.
Gasping Blanca opens the door only to see an assassin pointing his spear at her.
"Well what do we have here?" He smirks.
Summoning her sword, Blanca slices the spear in half and kicks the man against the wall.
Before he could react, Blanca pins him to the wall and points her sword at him.
"What happened? What did you do to my family?! Where are they?!" Blanca snaps but the assassin just laughed. "Find something funny?"
"This coup was an inside job. We were given an offer we couldn't refuse. All was had to do was kill the family in charge." He said.
"Who was it? My parents would never let someone sneak by them." Blanca said.
"Your parents were the ones who let us in." He declares.
"Wh-What. No you're lying! My parents would never do something like that." Blanca said.
"I saw it my with own eyes. Your parents led this coup and when it was over, they allowed everyone involved to steal everything in this house that wasn't nailed down. Until we ripped the nails out." The assassin chuckles.
"Where are they?" Blanca asks.
"I don't know probably off enjoying their new life." He said.
"They…they left without me?" Blanca said with hurt in her voice.
Blanca couldn't believe what she was hearing. Her family, the ones she loved betrayed everything she thought they stood for in order to have a better life. Had led horrible people into their home, let them steal everything of value, kill innocent people and the worst part is they didn't even tell her anything about it. They sent her away so she wouldn't be involved. It was like-like they didn't want her anymore.
"Tough break sweetheart. Guess you're about as worthless as me." The assassin laughs.
Instantly something snapped in Blanca and the halls echoed with her scream of rage and the laughter was silenced instantly.
As lighting flashed, we see Blanca with a heartbroken look and blood dripping from her sword.
Flashback End:
Zooming out we see a look of horror and sadness on everyone's face.
"You killed him." Katara realized.
"Dios mio." Luz said horrified.
"Blanca." Minato said speechless.
"My family orchestrated the whole thing and when they got what they wanted they left me behind. It was then that I realized. If all they were gonna see me as is garbage then I'm no better than the garbage scum who they hired to kill." Blanca said.
"That's why you became an assassin." Lily realized.
"All I ever wanted was a chance but I never got it. You guys are lucky that you live with people who care about you. Here on the Boiling Isles when it comes to us kids you're either a star or you're just in the way." Blanca frowns.
"Was all of it a lie? Did you do all this just so you could kill me?" Minato asks.
"I'm not going to lie, Minato. When we first met, I had used saving you from the Calamity Imp and Lilith in order to gain your trust so I could kill you, but as I got closer to you, to all of you I began to forget my job. The way you acted reminded me of the person I used to be. A girl who just wanted people to notice her. These past few weeks. You've all treated me with more kindness and respect than my parents ever gave me. Words cannot begin to describe how truly sorry I am." Blanca said getting on her hands and knees.
As they looked down at her they could see genuine tears roll down her eyes.
"I tried to back out of the deal, but when I told Elias off he threatened to kill me if I didn't help him." Blanca said.
"What kind of sick man hires assassins to kill his own family?" Katara asks.
"Apparently Minato's." King said as Lily elbowed him again. "Ow."
"That night you stayed at the Owl House, you had a chance to kill me, why didn't you?" Minato asks.
"Because, I couldn't. The more I had to learn to get close to you the more I realized…you're just like me. Someone whose family wants nothing to do with them no matter how hard they try to do good. I looked at you and I saw the person I used to be. I'm sorry for being so worthless." Blanca confesses.
Slowly Minato made his way towards her as the Monado hits the floor, Blanca looks up to see Minato give her a hug.
"You saved our lives. You're not worthless Blanca." Minato assures.
"But I tried to kill you. All of you." Blanca said.
"Big whoop people try and kill me every day." Eda brushes off.
"Plus you didn't, you chose to save us. You wanted to be punished well I've got just the thing. If my Grandpa is gonna send more shifty characters our way we're gonna need someone who knows how these people thing. We need a bodyguard." Minato declares.
"Ooh not a bad idea kid." Eda smirks catching on. "Blanca as punishment for your crimes you will be forced to guard the residents of the Owl House with your life. And as such that makes me your new boss."
"Huh?" Blanca said confused.
"Yaaay I have a new henchman!" King cheers.
"Of course if she's gonna be guarding us she'll have to move in, help out with everything we need and never leave our side." Luz adds.
"Just to warn you. Your pay will be lousy and you'll be in constant danger." Eda said.
"But the food is decent and you will have some pretty fun roommates." Lily smiles.
"Wait…you guys still want me around?" Blanca asks.
"You said it yourself. You wanted to be good enough to be protect a family. We're not exactly a high-ranking family but still better than nothing." Minato gestures to the Owl House residents.
"Speak for yourself." King said proudly.
Katara on the other hand was remaining silent at this interaction.
Blanca couldn't believe her ears. Even after everything she had done Minato had given her what she had always wanted to be. And what's more he still wanted her around.
"Minato thank you, how can I ever repay you?" Blanca sniffles.
"Hey us weirdoes need to stick together." Minato smiles.
"Thank you." Leaning in Blanca gives Minato a peck on the cheek making him blush brightly while Lily and Katara's eyes widen and Luz dropped her jaw in shock.
"Is it too late to kick her out?" Luz growls when the door opens revealing Dez.
"Whoa what did I miss?" Dez said seeing Blanca and Minato.
"We'll fill you in later." Lily said.
"Wow she's really grateful." King whistles while Luz was twitching.
"Astuto no Buena serpiente bruja." Luz mumbles in Spanish glaring daggers at Blanca.
"You go get packed up Blanca. We'll wait for you." Minato said.
As Blanca made her way upstairs Katara was still glaring at her.
In her room, Blanca was packing away her things.
'I can't believe I'm actually leaving this place.' Blanca thought.
As she turns around to walk out she sees Katara enter her room.
"Oh uh Katara. Listen I just want to say thanks for—"
"Let me make one thing clear." Katara interrupts walking up to her. "Minato told me everything and before you think you're off the hook you should know I've tangled with people like you before Blanca. People who have struggled with doing the right thing in the past. Some have made the right choice and others made the wrong one. So I'm only gonna say this once. Minato and Luz are some of the nicest people I've ever met. They helped all of us including me when we were at our lowest. So if you think about going back to some old habits, take one step back, give me one reason to think you might hurt Minato then you won't worry about his grandfather coming after you because I'm gonna make sure your story ends right then and there."
As Katara glared at her Blanca couldn't help but shake nervously.
"Hey Katara! Grab Blanca we're heading out!" Dez's voice echoes through the halls.
Slowly Katara walks out while Blanca just looks at her. She knew she was gonna have to earn her trust.
Later that night, we see Eda's hand knocking on a door.
Soon the door opens revealing a maid who sees all of them worn out and tired.
"Hey lady is Naomi Soulwing available?" Eda asks.
"What business do you have with her?" The maid asks.
"Just tell her Minato and his friends are here to talk to her. She'll know what it means." Minato said.
"Right away." She briefly closes the door and walks away.
Looking around at Naomi's house they were surprised to see it wasn't as big as the Soulwing manor, in fact compared to it this was just a large 3 story house. Still fancy but not as fancy.
Opening the door Naomi ran out in a robe over her evening wear.
"Oh thank goodness you're all alive." Naomi said catching her breath.
"Yeah I'm…I'm ready to hear you out." Minato said.
"Come on let's get you all inside." Naomi said opening the door.
An hour later, they were sitting by a fire as they told Naomi everything.
"And then Blanca changed to our side and helped us escape." Minato finished.
"Damn you Elias. Threatening your own assassin and doing all this." Naomi hisses.
"Elias sure is going through a lot of trouble just to get a fancy sword back." Dez said.
"It's more than just the Monado. Much more." Naomi said.
"Why does he hate Minato so much?" Luz asks.
"Yeah I mean sure he's a hybrid but he can't be that much of a threat to the Soulwings." King said.
"He's not a threat to the House of Soulwing. At all." Naomi said confusing him.
"But then why would do all this to get rid of me?" Minato asks.
"He had the whole family there when he summoned me. He made a pretty big deal about it." Blanca recalls.
"It's all a lie. Elias did that to keep the family on his side. Make you look like the problem." Naomi said taking out the pictures she had taken some time ago. "At the meeting I was suspicious. I mean your father did not leave on a good note but Elias never does anything that drastic without a reason. So with Edwin's help I did a little digging."
"What are these?" Lily asks looking at the pictures of pages.
"Those are Soulwing Family Documents. Very special documents of the family: our businesses, important documents, even special rules for who inherits what." Naomi explains.
"So what does all this have to do with Minato?" Eda asks.
"Read this one." Naomi pushes a picture towards Eda.
Slowly picking it up, Eda scans the contents before gasping in shock.
"What's it say?" Katara asks.
"Uh Minato…you wouldn't happen to have an older sibling that you never told us about?" Eda asks nervously.
"No, an only child." Minato said nervously.
"Oh boy. Now I get it." Eda said holding her head.
"Get what?" They all said nervously.
"Minato you're not a threat to the House of Soulwing, you're a threat to Elias." Eda declares.
"Eda you're scaring me." Minato said.
"What are you talking about?" Luz asks.
"Minato before your father left, he was the heir, the one set to take over the House, inherit everything but when he left Elias was able to retake control since he was the predecessor." Naomi starts.
"If Miguel had returned, he would immediately take control, but no one knows what happened to him. Meaning it moves down the line." Eda continues.
"Down the line?" They all asked.
"Minato, you are the only child of Miguel Soulwing. The House is yours by birthright. Everything about our family: the money, the mansion, everything associated with our family it all belongs to you. You are the rightful heir to the House of Soulwing." Naomi declares.
Eyes widening everyone was speechless.
Of all the discoveries that they had learnt today this one tops them all.
