The Broken Boosted Gear

By Try Another Time

Shiva and his team quickly acted as the situation got much worse. On one side, they had Asgardian forces trying their hardest to kill them all, while on the other was Fenrir with his flaming bloody wolf pack. Shiva had barely seconds to think as he evaded the wolves, which his instincts were telling him to avoid at all costs.

His eyes tracked every corner of the battlefield and noticed the corpses of the poor victims of the wolf pack. Their bodies have been either devoured by the flames or eroded due to Fenrir's poisonous and corroding blood.

Three of said wolves approached him with the intent to kill. Shiva quickly avoided touching either of them as he jumped over them before blasting them to dust with a destructive blast from his hand.

"This is complete insanity. Just what and how did Fenrir turn like this?" The god asked himself as he turned towards the giant wolf currently attacking a group of Asgardian soldiers. He had seen many visions but nothing like this. "All units change paths and evade Fenrir's pack at all costs. My team and I will figure out a way to stop his rampage while keeping Tyr away from all of you."

"Sir, that's ridiculous. You can't take two targets like that." Diehauser argues over the line.

"I have to. Focus on rescuing our allies and leave the wolf to me." Shiva replies.

"Shiva, stop trying to act like a hero. If we need reinforcements, we have somebody left on the train. Typhon can help us with the wolf." Sirzechs argues.

"I support Sirzechs suggestion. We have to adapt to the situation and change things as necessary." Michael follows in.

"But-" Shiva was stopped as a new ally spoke up.

"Leave Fenrir to us. Typhon and I can take care of my brother's rampage." Midg said as he joined the line.

"Midgardsormr, you shouldn't be out of the train," Azazel says.

"Neither should Fenrir be here of all places. He was missing for quite a long time, and I imagine it has something to do with Loki and Hel. I know we haven't talked about my position within the alliance, and you can't allow me to join this mission this easily, but Fenrir is my brother. I have to stop him and bring him back home. I will prioritize getting him out of the capital and minimize the deaths." Midg says.

The line grows quiet as every field member listens to them.

Then Athena decides to join in. "Our long-range units might possess projectiles that could work to sedate Fenrir. A sedated wolf will be easier to carry back to the underworld than a chain one."

"We are ready to put him to sleep if you get him out of the capital. Eury will make sure to keep the train at a safe distance." Apollon joins in.

"Trust us, sir," Artemis says.

"I'm ready to change directions." Eury joins in.

"Come on, Shiva. The more we wait, the more deaths Fenrir will cause and the longer we'll be here." Typhon says with a cheeky tone.

"... Alright, Midg, Typhon, get Fenrir out of the capital but keep your identities a secret. It is already bad as it is. Just make sure that he's completely sedated. We can't bring him in that state to the Alliance. Eury, see if we can create an extra car for containment, or we'll have Ddraig or someone else transport him back to the underworld. Inform our allies about this and tell them to prepare an area for him. I don't know what happened to Fenrir, but whatever it is, it will not be easy to fix. All other teams advance with the main mission, and be careful about those wolves." Shiva says.

Everyone acknowledges him, and the teams quickly change routes to avoid any encounters with the wolves.

Tyr's POV.

The god got up from the rubble only to witness the chaos that Fenrir had caused. "This can't be." The god said as he saw the burning buildings and the corpses of the innocent residents.

The god quickly cuts his hand and starts drawing several runes on the floor as he prioritizes the lives of his fellow Asgardians over joining the fights taking place.

"Hear my voice and sink into the lower depths."

The runes activate an emergency system all around the capital, lowering the surviving homes and several buildings underground, thus preventing more deaths.

The god then pulls out a horn which he uses to spread an emergency message. "All non-combat and injured residents of the capital still above ground make your wait for the emergency refuges. Don't come out until further notice."

Tyr curses himself mentally for not having activated such a method much earlier.

Once he's done with this, the god moves and jumps on top of one of the remaining buildings to observe the area. "Fenrir, is he with the alliance?" The god asked himself as he inspected the rampaging wolf. "Spectral weapons? That's unique to Hel's armies. Is she involved in this somehow?"

Tyr had no time to form more questions as his body moved to block the incoming kick of Shiva. "Little one, are you behind Fenrir's rampage?"

"I would never use such a disgusting strategy. If Fenrir were our ally, none of this would have happened." Shiva replies before engaging Tyr in hand-to-hand combat. "Maybe it was your own people?"

"A traitor, you say? And who could that be?" Tyr asks back as he blocks the punches of Shiva and counters with some of his as well.

"You should know that already. Who else is willing to backstab Asgard? Who else is famous for his trickery and malicious acts across the realm? Who else is the name that Fenrir is howling right now?" Shiva continues as he breaks Ty's stance and punches him right in the gut.

"Loki? Are you saying that Loki is behind this?" As he creates some distance between them while holding his stomach. Shiva's punch had left a significant dent in his armor, proving the incredible strength of the god.

"If the hat suits him, let him wear it. My people did not drop a rampaging wolf in your capital. We're here for a different mission that didn't involve casualties. Yet we'll take care of this situation ourselves before any of you dare to blame this on us." Shiva says.

"Playing the innocent hero? Even if the alliance wasn't behind Fenrir's actions, that doesn't detract from your people coming into our home to cause chaos and destruction. Instead, you invaded our land." Tyr pushes back as he summons his ax to counter Shiva's attacks.

"Call invasion if you want, but until the mission is complete, none of you are going anywhere." As soon as Shiva finishes talking, Tyr is assaulted by the long-range holy attacks of Metatron from his blind side.

The god screams in pain as the attacks hit critical parts of his body, making it hard for him to hold a weapon. "Why are his attacks so painful and precise? Just who are these bastards?"

The allies of Tyr try to interfere and defend their leader, but the other members of Shiva's team quickly oppose them and keep them from reaching him.

None of them showed any difficulty taking care of Tyr's forces, even if they had the advantage in numbers.

But their problems were far from over. A growling sound alerted them to the large rampaging beast. Their eyes turned to the bloodthirsty godslayer for a second before they were forced to evade his fangs and claws. The blood of his last victims stained his mouth.

"Loki!" Fenrir screamed his target's name with pure rage and anger as he went after everyone present.

Fenrir was blind in both senses of the word; his ears, nose, and all his remaining senses told him that Loki was in front of him. His first targets were Shiva and Tyr, so the wolf rushed forward as he sensed two strong "Lokis" in front of him. His speed was incredible for a being starved to no end for who knows how long.

Tyr cannot move away on his own due to the effects of Metatron's attacks. His eyes widen in shock as an indescribable sense of doom takes over him. It was as if destiny was putting him in the face of an unavoidable death.

"Dammit." Shiva sees this and kicks Tyr out of the way of Fenrir before having to use all of his strength to prevent Fenrir from swallowing him whole. "Your breath reeks of blood." The fangs of Fenrir start to cut through his globes and injure his hands, as each of his fangs is a tool born to kill gods. Shiva gritted his teeth as he endured the pain of his hands being injured by anti-god weapons.

Metatron and the others quickly moved to aid their ally. Uriel went for the jaws to force them open and free Shiva while the remaining team members tried to immobilize the wolf with their powers.

"Come out," Uriel said as he forced Fenrir's jaws to open with his golem's help.

Shiva comes out of the mouth of the wolf and quickly moves to position himself below Fenrir's stomach. "Sorry, this is going to hurt, Fenrir." Shiva charges his destructive energy within his right fist before he punches Fenrir in the guts, sending him flying toward an area closer to the breach in the wall.

His body causes even more destruction once he crashes back down, yet thankfully there are no more innocent lives in the area that could have been killed.

Fenrir stands up and growls at everyone.

Tyr and his forces point their weapons at him while ignoring Shiva's team. The Asgardians were ready to deal the finishing blow to the wolf, even if it led to many of their deaths.

But before Fenrir can even hope to move forward, several giant purple tentacles reach out from the breach and forcefully drags the wolf outside the city.

"Loki!" Fenrir's anger increases as he tries to escape the tentacle's grasp, but his fight is, in the end, useless as he gets dragged away from the city.

All those present hear his growls in the distance as Fenrir is dragged as far from the capital as possible. Shiva sighed in relief as the wolf became one less problem for him and his team.

"Midg, Typhon, Athena, I leave him to you." His eyes turn to Tyr and his forces. "Shall we continue where we left off?"

Tyr stands up and cracks his neck. "Thanks for that last kick. If you haven't acted, I might be dead right now. It feels like I dodge my destiny there." The god smirks. "For that, I will give you a quick death."

"Try your best, so-called god of war," Shiva says.

Both teams clash once more.

Meanwhile, with Fenrir and the others.

Typhon, who had changed into a giant gorilla, crap, octopus hybrid, used all of his strength to bring Fenrir outside the capital.

"Nice to meet you, Fenrir. I have heard so much about you from your brother." Typhon said as he pulled the wolf away from the capital.

Fenrir growled like a wild animal as it tried its best to escape. At one point, its fangs sank into the tentacles of Typhon. The pain that the legendary godslayer was undescribed.

"Those are sharp fangs you got, but that won't be enough for me to release you. Sedate him now!" Typhon says as he keeps Fenrir trapped under his tentacles.

The train kept moving at a safe distance from Fenrir, and its two best long-range agents stood on top alongside other members of their team.. Apollon and Artemis, younger siblings of Athena, were blessed in youth with a natural talent for archery, especially hunting. Alone they were terrific, but together they were beyond comparable to many in precision and long-range attacks.

"Ready?" Apollon asks his sister as he aims his arrow at the wolf.

"Let's do it," Artemis replies as she releases her arrow.

One, two, six, twelve, and many more arrows were quickly shot by the duo of siblings and the other members of their team at an impressive speed. Each one is coated in some of the most potent sedatives and tranquilizers in all of the realms.

The arrows fly and quickly hit the mark in less than 5 seconds from their release.

Fenrir growls in pain as he feels the arrows burying themselves into his skin. The sedatives and tranquilizers travel fast as they spread themselves through Fenrir's bloodstream leading to the large wolf feeling dizzy.

His legs gave up as his body stopped fighting against Typhon's tentacles.

"Good. Go to sleep, pup." Typhon watches as Fenrir grows weaker and much more manageable with each second. The tension drops as Fenrir seems to fall unconscious, but the reality is often disappointing.

Inside Fenrir's mind.

The wolf remembered how he found himself back in the realm that he called "home" for a short time: Alfheimr, the realm of the elves. Its expansive forest was full of life, and the elves that called it home never threatened him with their weapons when he arrived.

He was a bloody mess back then; he had barely escaped Loki's grasp and was in no condition to get involved in another fight.

Fenrir detects how a pair of eyes are tracking him as he stumbles around the endless forest, trying to catch his breath and find a place to heal from his wounds. He looks around the forest, trying to figure out where this mysterious being is.

"Left? Right? Where are you?" Fenrir asked as he tried to detect the scent of his possible enemy. His nose couldn't see any particular scent besides those unique to the forest flora and fauna. It was as if his "stalker" was one with the forest; although he could feel its presence, he couldn't see it, track it down with scent, or pinpoint its exact position.

"Who are you? Why have you come to our land?" A voice asked from an unspecified spot within the area around Fenrir.

Fenrir growled and bared its fangs as he looked around for its target. He felt no animosity or bloodlust from this presence, but he didn't know better, as anything could be out for his head. He had learned to distrust everything as his own creator only saw him as a tool.

"Are you our enemy?"

The voice continued.

Fenrir listened as the sounds of nature went quiet. The wind itself stopped blowing, and he could only listen to his own respiration or the accelerated beating of his heart.

"Are you my enemy?" Fenrir heard a voice right next to his left ear, which made him jump as he tried to catch his target, but nobody was there.

"Why are you here?" The voice asked him as it did the same.

Fenrir jumped back as he felt his space had been invaded again. His eyes looked all around for a sign of this presence, but none could be found.

Knowing nothing about what to do, Fenrir ran away without knowing where to hide or what to do.

"There's no way to escape. Just answer my question." The voice called out to him.

Fenrir ignored the voice and ran with all his remaining energy, hoping to escape. Hours came and went in which Fenrir was chased to no end within the forest of Alfheimrr.

*Aria-Kalafina*

With each hour, Fenrir grew weaker and much more tired as his injuries drove him closer to death's door. His blood left an obvious trail that his "enemy" followed to a cave deep inside the farthest regions of the forest. The closest village was thousands of miles away, but even with all of that, Fenrir felt unsafe and within the grasp of his "enemy."

He wanted to continue running, but his body gave up. Too hungry, too tired, too injured, everything was against him, and so he lay on the cold floor of the cave.

His instincts told him about an approaching presence, but he couldn't even face it properly.

"You can run, but even you have a limit. Was it that hard to answer my questions?" The voice said.

Fenrir felt it as it was getting closer to him. He tried to stand up, but his body wasn't going anywhere.

"Just look at you. A bloody mess you are; Titania and Oberon were on the right for not sending any groups after you. Who invades a realm that is not even their own in a state like this?" The voice told him.

Fenrir's eyes saw a white mass of fur coming standing before him. Its shape was akin to his, a wolf, but it was far more beautiful than he could ever be. Its skin is as smooth and luminous as the hair of any beautiful maiden of legend. Yet its red, deep eyes showed concern as they focused on his.

"Just who are you?" The white beast asked.

Fenrir said nothing as it closed its eyes in defeat, awaiting the end of his life with many regrets.

Many hours later.

Fenrir slowly opened his eyes. He was still inside the cave, but it was nothing like before. What once was a cold cave with no light inside was now a more crowded place. Luminous bugs hung from the ceiling, and small creatures akin to dog size multi-eye squirrels were touching his body. These so-called squirrels applied an unknown green paste to his injuries before covering them with leaves.

The paste hurt him as it burned his injured skin initially, but after a few seconds, it felt cold and refreshing.

As soon as the squirrels noticed his eyes looking at them, they slowly backed away.

Fenrir kept his eyes on them at all moments but didn't move an inch from its position. He still lacked the energy to stand up, and his stomach was telling him that maybe it was time for a meal.

Before any "squirrels" could end up as Fenrir's next meal, the white wolf returned alongside another group of squirrels.

"You're up. That's good. Eat this." The white wolf said as she deposited a large blue fish before Fenrir. The squirrels that were with her deposited a variety of fruit and edible products unique to Alfheimr. From spiky purple fruits to weirdly shape "blue cucumbers," a wide selection was presented to the wolf.

Fenrir seemed not interested in accepting any offerings at first.

"Come on. None of these will kill you, and I need some answers from you. You need to eat." The mysterious white wolf said as it kept its eyes focused on him.

Fenrir's stomach forced him to make the wise choice to accept the food before him. As he ingested the food, he noticed each item's variety of flavors and textures. None of them compared to the "food" he had eaten before. Loki had forced him to eat many disgusting things since his creation. The blood of many victims had tainted his fangs for a long time, and not once had he enjoyed a "meal" until now. As he continued to eat, a few tears escaped his eyes.

The mysterious white wolf said nothing and continued to watch him until he was completely done.

Once Fenrir was done, the white wolf settled down next to him as it rested on the cavern. "Rest for now. It seems you needed that. I'll wait a while longer for my answers. You'll be safe here but don't go out alone, and please don't eat them. Ratatoskrs are peaceful creatures that keep this realm stable." The white wolf said as it closed its eyes and went to sleep.

The squirrels quickly settled on her fur and went to sleep with her.

Fenrir was amazed at the wolf's carelessness, but he preferred not to attack her after what she had done for him. He was still alive, his injuries were treated, and food was given to him, although he had invaded this realm. He knew not to trust those that approached him, but for once, he felt no need to run or take the defensive.

He felt at peace for once, so he chose to rest once more.

The cavern went completely silent as those inside drifted into the deepest of sleep.

12 hours after.

When Fenrir opened his eyes again, he found the same squirrels replacing his "bandages" and even more food. The squirrels moved away after they noticed his eyes focused on them. They were still worried that he would eat them, but Fenrir didn't go after any of them.

With difficulty, Fenrir stood up and started to eat the food. His hunger was satiated after a few minutes before he turned around and began to walk toward the exit. He hoped to find the mysterious white wolf and see where this would go.

As he exited the cavern, his eyes saw the splendid starry night of Alfheimr with sibling moons. Under the light of such a beautiful sight stood the white wolf. Its head was pointing towards the sky while her eyes remained closed.

"You are awake. That's good. I want answers so I hope you can give them to me now. What is your name?" The sacred white beast asked.

"... Fenrir was the name given to me by my creator," Fenrir replies.

"Fenrir? That's a start. My name is Sif, the White—one of this realm's sacred beasts. I have no knowledge about you. You must be one of the newest creations of the gods from another realm. Tell me, Fenrir, why have you invaded our home? Alfheimr has no animosity with the other realms, and our people prefer to keep any problems away from this peaceful land." Sif says.

"... I was running away from my creator," Fenrir admits with some difficulty.

"Running away?" Sif opens her eyes and looks at him. She connected several dots after listening to his answers and seeing his injuries. "He was using you, wasn't he?"

Fenrir's eyes glow with anger as he remembers his life as a weapon of Loki. "... Yes…." He can barely contain his anger as he remembers Loki. "Loki, he made us as weapons. He used us. He discarded my younger brother. I will-"

"You will what?" Sif asks.

Her eyes were focused on him. Like the eyes of a judge, they were awaiting his following words.

"I…." Fenrir was left with no words as he felt the pressure her eyes placed on him.

Sif approaches him before stopping before him. "This is a peaceful realm. It has never known war or major conflicts, although it knows about the chaos outside. So if you intend to go after your creator's life, leave this realm in 7 days. This is the most I can do for you, but I ask that you never return. If you dare to return after leaving me, the other sacred beasts will hunt you down. We want no "weapons" in this land."

Sif turns around and starts to walk toward the forest. "But if you choose to stay and learn how to have an actual life, I'll put a word for you. The other beasts and the monarchs will hear me out if I speak to them. Choose to live as a weapon or to figure out who "Fenrir" is."

Sif disappeared into the forest, leaving no visible signs of her presence.

Fenrir was left alone with many questions and things to reflect on.

He was created to be a weapon.

He was chained for many years.

He was used for many horrible things.

He had no home to return.

He lost his only brother.

He had nothing except for his desire to slay Loki.

His vengeance.

His…. vengeance.

"... Why do I have left?" For the first time, Fenrir questions his place in life.

For the first time, he started to ponder for what reason he was alive.

That night, Sif led Fenrir away from self-destruction, at least for a while.

The dream that once offered him peace was quickly overshadowed by the nightmare that it was his second imprisonment at the hands of Loki and Hel.

The pain he endured.

The laughs of his enemies.

The endless days and nights of torture he endured as he was starved and used as a guinea pig for Loki's plans.

All of it had driven him mad, and not even his dreams were a safe place anymore.

Back into the real world. Typhon's POV.

Typhon hoped that Fenrir was done and everything would be okay, but his instincts alerted him to the incoming second round of this mission.

Fenrir's blood started to boil inside his body. Like a volcano, the pressure increased rapidly.

"Loki!" Fenrir growls once more as he comes back with renewed anger.

"No!" Typhon watched as streams of acidic blood erupted in all directions from within Fenrir. Typhon's tentacles were quickly dissolving into nothing, and the land reached by the acidic boiling blood was turned sterile as all plants died in milliseconds, and even the rocks were liquified.

Typhon backed away as his instincts alerted him to this new ability. "Keep a safe distance from Fenrir. Midg is your turn!" Typhon said as he communicated with everyone else.

Typhon then changes shapes into an eight-legged panther, spider armadillo hybrid, which is quickly chased after by Fenrir. The wolf went after Typhon, who swiftly dashed around the battlefield.

Each time Fenrir got too close to him, its acidic blood would severely injure Typhon.

Typhon gritted its teeth as it endured the pain. "This is nothing like the attacks I have received in the past. I won't become immune to these attacks that easily."

Fenrir kept chasing after Typhon with uncontrollable bloodlust. He was so mad with anger that he couldn't even detect the approaching adversary that descended towards his location.

Like an orbital strike, an object made contact with Fenrir's head, burying the wolf into the ground and creating a large crater around the area.

A humanoid armored body stood up on Fenrir's head with visible anger. Its eyes shinned silver behind its mask, and a mysterious draconic symbol sat on both of his hands while similar symbols appeared around's Fenrir's body. The symbol in the hands of this male was akin to a dragon's head devouring its prey. While those on Fenrir's were similar to a prey fighting back against its natural nemesis.

"I never hope to use this against my brother, but there's no other way. I will smack reason back into that head of yours, brother!" Midg says as Fenrir raises his head and attacks him with his acidic explosion.

Another eruption occurs again, which is visible to all those inside and outside the train.

Members of the alliance looked concerned, but Midg's family showed no fear at what they saw.

They knew this was Fenrir's worst matchup, as only Midg could prove effective against him. Their hopes lie in their dragon king.

"Loki!"

"Brother!"

The fight had just begun.
