Chapter 31: Keeping up A-Fear-Ances
Hey everyone I'm back with a new chapter. First off Happy Star Wars Day! May the 4th be with you! Also man I can't believe the Owl House Series is finally over, but I will say this. They blew my freaking mind with that series finale! They nailed everything perfectly. And while I am sad it's over I hope I can make my story as epic as canon was and hopefully more. In the meantime Please Review and Enjoy.
We find ourselves in Eda's room as a young teenage Eda was talking to a man in Healing robes and a woman with big brown hair. This was Gwendolyn Clawthrone, Eda and Lilith's mom.
"It always starts the same way. I wake up someplace dark. And then it appears. And eventually... I wake up and I know I turned into... that thing." Eda explains.
"I see. Here take this." The Healer said giving Eda a large gem. "It will tell you when the beast's energy is bubbling to the surface. Also, I hear gems are quite fashionable for young witches."
"What a lovely stone. Would you excuse us?" Gwendolyn said leading the Healer out into the hallway.
Slowly creeping over Eda spies in on the conversation.
"What the heck was that? I thought you were in the Healing Coven, not the Bauble Brigade." Gwendolyn asks.
"Mrs. Clawthorne, we've never seen a curse like this before. I'm not sure it can be healed. Perhaps if we consult the Potions Coven, they may know a way to keep it at bay." He suggests.
"Keep it at bay? Oh, no. My daughter is suffering and I want that thing out! Cut it out if you have to." Gwendolyn declares making Eda gasp before quickly covering her mouth.
Looking around Eda noticed an open window.
"Edalyn I'm taking you to see someone else." As Gwendolyn opens the door she sees Eda was gone. "I swear I'll heal your curse Eda. No matter how long it takes."
Outside we see Edalyn running through a forest before coming to a stop on a hill.
"What is happening to my life?" Eda pants confused.
"You know I asked myself that same question for a while now." A familiar voice said.
Gasping Eda looks to see Miguel flying in but he was wearing human clothes. He wore a leather jacket, under a blue shirt and ripped jeans.
Lifting his goggles up over his eyes he smiles at her.
"Hey Eda long time no see." Miguel waves.
"Miguel?" She smiles. "Oh my titan."
Running over she gives her old friend a hug.
"Where have you been? No one has seen or heard from you in weeks?" Eda said.
"I've been away." Miguel said.
"Well it's good to see you back. Things are not going well and I wanted to apologize for what happened that day. I'm sorry. I was scared, it was all happening so fast and well…" Eda cringed.
"It's alright Eda I forgive you." Miguel said.
"Nice to know some things haven't changed." Eda smirks. "So you wanna come inside? I'm sure Lilith and my parents would be happy to have you over for dinner again?"
"Thanks but no thanks. I just came by because I wanted to give you something. I'm not staying long." Miguel said confusing her.
"No staying? What you going back to see your family?" Eda asks confused.
"No. I'm never going back to the Soulwings. I'm leaving the Isles but before I leave I need to make sure that something important is kept safe. And you're the only person I can trust with them." Miguel said getting her attention.
"Yeah sure absolutely." Eda nods.
Reaching behind him Miguel pulls out the portal key and case.
"What is that?" Eda asks curious.
"I found it not too far from your house. You need this more than I do." Miguel said clicking the key and the portal appears.
"What is that?" Eda asks.
"That Eda…is my new home." Miguel declares.
Flashback End:
In the present, we see Eda asleep in her nest when her alarm clock demon went off.
Grabbing it, Eda threw it against the wall smashing it to pieces.
Getting up Eda shaves her leg feathers, puts a fake gold fang in her mouth, and drinks a bottle of elixir before finally putting on a new red dress.
"Hmm." Pausing Eda rips part of the front off. "There we go. Mama like." She grins.
Making her way to the kitchen she stopped in front of the rooms.
"Hey rise and shine!" Eda said knocking on Blanca's door.
"I'm up." Blanca yawns.
Making her way downstairs Eda sees Tiger Lily asleep on the couch with a few books around her.
"Wake up." Eda said lightly slapping Tiger Lily on the forehead causing her to wake up.
"Huh? Wha?" She groans softly.
In the kitchen, we see Minato and Luz asleep with papers and books all around them.
"Dangit!" Eda calls out waking them up.
Yelling startled both of them sat up.
Looking at each other Luz giggles seeing a piece of paper stuck to Minato's forehead.
"What? Do I have something on my face?" Minato asks touching his cheek.
"Wrong area." Luz smiles taking it off.
Yawning Tiger Lily and Blanca walked in.
"What was that noise?" Tiger Lily asks.
"We're out of appleblood." Eda said.
"Really? That." Tiger Lily said.
"So any luck?" Blanca asks.
"None and we were up all night. We read everything: tomes, books, notepads." Luz counted.
"We even tried tea leaves." Minato said holding out a mug to show tea leaves shaped like a shrugging person.
"The closest info we found was on the Wailing Star." Luz said showing one book making Tiger Lily almost choke on her water.
"Oh uh wow, that's still a research topic for you guys?" Tiger Lily asks.
"Of course it is. We've never stopped looking. And maybe a little more research we'll have an answer." Minato said.
"Well no need to hurry. Let's figure you guys out first. Eda didn't you have this portal first?" Tiger Lily asks changing the subject.
"I wish I could help ya, kids. My door was already pretty old when Miguel gave it to me." Eda said.
"How long did you have it for?" Blanca asks.
"Well…" Eda starts when Lilith let out a scream from the living room.
Running over they gasp to see Lilith starting to turn into her owl beast.
"Help…me." Lilith chokes.
Gasping Eda ran to the couch and pulled out an elixir behind the pillow.
"Calm down just calm down. The curse acts stronger when you're stressed." Eda said feeding to Lilith and her feathers went away.
"That was horrible. How have you managed for so long?" Lilith pants.
"Well it's been hard. But since we split the curse, at least the elixirs are working again." Eda said.
"That's a relief." Lilith said lifring her left hand up only to see it was gone.
"Whoa!" Tiger Lily said surprised while everyone else was shocked.
"Oh yeah that's another side effect of the curse." Eda said screwing it back on. "It's actually fun once in a while."
"Oh so that's how she does creepy gestures." Blanca cringed.
"Now don't worry. I've stashed elixirs all over the house. Whenever you start feeling feathery, just help yourself to one of these bad boys." Eda said revealing some bottles behind a flower pot, under the couch seat, inside Tiger Lily's quiver, and in Luz's hood.
"So this is where the money from my bounty went." Minato realized.
"Smart purchase." Luz said impressed.
"I had no idea this is what I did to you. I am so, so sorry." Lilith apologized.
"Eh, at least I got company now. And you got me if you need anything." Eda said handing her a bottle and walking out with the others right behind her.
As Lilith lays down on the couch she even sees some bottles taped to the ceiling.
Making their way outside, Eda continued her conversation.
"So wait you never asked my dad how he found it?" Minato asks.
"Well he said he found it in the dirt after his Coven inauguration but that was all he knew when he gave it to me to live in the human world. Never figured out who made it or where it came from. I just kept it to myself." Eda admits.
"Why wouldn't you tell anyone?" Luz asks.
"What? Curious about my past?" Eda scoffs.
"Always. Always curious." Luz declares.
"You bet I am." Minato nods.
"I too am curious about you." Blanca nods.
"I could listen to a few stories." Tiger Lily nods
"Well, I may have been using it to hide from someone." Eda admits.
"Who?" They all asked.
"Probably me!" A female voice calls out.
Suddenly a gust of wind blew in and a hawk palisman flew in with a tornado right behind it.
"Magic bird tornado?" Luz said surprised.
"Stay back!" Blanca said moving in front to protect everyone.
When the tornado stops we see an elderly Gwendolyn and the eagle was her palisman.
"Hello, little witchlet. Come here." As Gwendolyn goes to hug her daughter Eda sticks her hand out stopping her.
"Gwendolyn." Eda acknowledges.
"Oof. Are we still on that? I'm your mother. Call me Mom." She smiles
"Mom?!" All the teens and Lilith said surprised.
"It is so good to see you again." Gwendolyn said cupping Eda's face. "How are you feeling? Are you eating well? I heard all about the Petrification ceremony and believe me I have a lot of strong words for that Belos."
"Yeah well I already beat you to that Lady." Minato said getting her attention.
"Oh my, it's like looking back in time." She smiles seeing Miguel in his place.
"Mother! Mother, you know, I was there too." Lilith said running out to meet her.
"Oh, hello to you too, sweet flea." Gwendolyn said examining Lilith's hair. "Still dyeing your hair, I see. Well, it's very sleek. Now give me a moment with Edalyn, dear. It's important."
Frowning Lilith slowly steps back which didn't go unnoticed by Minato and Blanca.
"That's right! Today, I am about to complete a 30-year mission." Gwendolyn starts.
"Oh no." Eda said annoyed.
"Your mother has finally succeeded." Gwendolyn continues.
"Here it comes." Eda rolls her eyes.
"Today I shall be healing your curse!" Gwendolyn declares.
"No thanks." Eda said.
"What?!" Luz, Minato, Blanca, Lilith, Blanca, and Tiger Lily said surrounding her.
"I said no thanks. I got my elixir system. I'm good." Eda repeats.
"But... But who knows what they put in those nasty concoctions?" Gwendolyn asks.
"Actually I do. I even taught Minato the ingredients. Oh look at the time." Eda said before looking at her arm. "I got a lot to do today. So sad to see you go. Okay, bye!"
Forcing her mom onto her staff, Eda smacks it sending Gwendolyn flying away.
"Moms, am I right?" Eda turns around only to see the 5 of them with their jaws dropped in shock.
"Are you insane?!" Tiger Lily snaps.
"What is wrong with you?!" Blanca snaps.
"I haven't seen Mother in forever! And she was handing you a cure on a silver platter!" Lilith snaps.
"I'd kill to see my mom right now and you just launch her into the sky?!" Luz snaps
"She put herself through a 30-year mission for you! I can't even get 30 minutes from my family without most of them trying to kill me!" Minato snaps.
"Oh, listen, she comes around every year, toting a new cure for my curse. But they never work, so I am done getting my hopes up." Eda said walking back to the house.
"Mother visits Edalyn regularly?" Lilith said in disbelief before following her inside.
"And I thought we had family trouble." Blanca said.
"Tell me about it." Minato agrees following her back inside.
Looking across, Luz and Tiger Lily saw Gwendolyn land nearby.
"Wait!" Luz yells as she and Tiger Lily ran over. "Mrs. Clawthorne. I'm Luz and this is my friend Tiger Lily. We're Eda's apprentices."
"Sorry Eda was so…well Eda." Tiger Lily apologized.
"Call me Gwen, dear. But please don't blame Edalyn. It was the curse that created the rift between us." Gwendolyn said.
"We understand. Lily, Minato and I have actual rifts between us and our families. Minato and I from the Human Realm and Tiger Lily is from a book brought to life by the Wailing Star." Luz explains.
"The Wailing Star? Human Realm?" Pausing Gwen was very intrigued. "Girls I may know how to fix all our rifts."
"Really?" Tiger Lily said surprised.
"I've heard some information that may assist you on your quest. Help me cure Eda's curse and that information is yours." Gwen offers.
"Deal!" Both girls nodded in agreement.
"So where do we start?" Luz asks.
"We'll be consulting someone very special." Gwen grins.
Leading them through the forest both girls were curious.
"So we're gonna meet an actual curse breaker? That is so rad." Luz said.
"I didn't even know there were Curse breakers." Tiger Lily said.
"Yes, after years of dealing with the Healing Coven, I finally found someone who promised me a cure. Ah here we are." Gwen said leading them to a stone door.
Walking up to it Gwendolyn reveals her necklace with a symbol on it allowing the door to open.
Making their way inside they see a witch with 4 arms sitting on an altar while a Gremlin with nasty boils on its eyes kneeled before him.
"Please they're so itchy." The gremlin begs.
Waving his arm the witch surrounded the gremlin in a bright light and when it died down the boils were gone and its eyes were sparkling.
Gasping Luz, Tiger Lily, and Gwendolyn were beyond amazed.
"Boils, they're... they're gone! Thank you, Wortlop. Thank you!" The Gremlin said before running out happily.
"Incredible. Who is that?" Tiger Lily asks.
"That's Master Wortlop. He's a traveling curse expert who's perfected next-level healing magic." Gwendolyn explains.
"Oh man we should have told Katara about this. She would have freaked out." Luz said.
Noticing them Wortlop gestures for Gwendolyn to approach.
"Gwendolyn, my pupil. Your aura is shining bright." Wortlop said.
"It took many months, but I was able to gather the sacred items you requested. The copper egg from the Snowy Rib Cage, the silver dagger from the Swampy Toes, and the golden chalice from the desert of Palm Stings." Gwendolyn lists taking them all out.
"You're a dedicated mother, aren't you?" Clapping his hands Wortlop makes a tome appear out of thin air. "Inside this tome is the healing ability you seek. But keep it away from the eyes of non-believers, for many will be blinded by the power it holds."
"I understand. I am in your debt Master Wortlop." Gwendolyn bows before leaving.
Back at the Owl House, we see the three of them make a sign that read Apple Blood.
From the window, King, Minato and Blanca watch Luz, Tiger Lily and Gwendolyn setting it all up.
"Isn't it amazing Minato? If Eda's mom can just pop up, who says my dad can't?" King asks.
"It's possible." Minato said as he watched the three of them go into the forest.
"I better get my hugging arms ready." King said stretching his arms.
"Ha!" Lilith mocks getting their attention.
Turning to the couch they saw Lilith laying down on it eating ice cream.
"Yeah, good luck with all that dad stuff. Sometimes it doesn't matter how dutiful you are or successful you are, parents just won't give you the time of day." Lilith said getting a big scoop.
"Don't listen to her King. Your dad won't be like that." Blanca assures.
"Right. Your mysterious father, who didn't even stick around to watch you hatch. And like two have any ground to stand on. Your parents dumped you at Boarding School and ran away to enjoy the good life." She said pointing at Blanca making her and King horrified. "And your father may have been in jail all this time but tell me something how was your life at home without him?" Lilith asks looking at Minato.
Pausing a look of sadness appeared on his face.
"Minato?" King said surprised by this.
"Looks like the 4 of us are in the same boat." Lilith said eating a big scoop of ice cream.
"Give me some of that ice cream." Blanca said.
Near the Owl House, Luz, Gwendolyn, and Tiger Lily were setting up the trap for Eda's curse.
"Nice work girls. With Wortlop's tome and your ability to lure Eda out of the house, we'll be curing that curse in no time." Gwendolyn said.
"We know Eda and if there's one thing she can't resist it's Appleblood." Luz smirks.
"By the way that Wortlop guy, are you his pupil?" Tiger Lily asks.
"Oh, yes. But first, I had to prove that I was worthy of his secrets. So I spent the last year on a bunch of dangerous quests. And I didn't get that many scars." Rolling up her sleeve Gwendolyn showed her bicep muscles with quite a few scars on it.
"Cool. Also dang girl your bicep game is ridiculous." Luz complimented.
"You went through all this for Eda?" Tiger Lily asks.
"Of course. You've seen Eda when she transforms into that monster. She needs someone to help stop it because she's too stubborn to do it herself." Gwendolyn said.
"That does make some sense." Tiger Lily admits when they heard leaves rustling.
"Ooh here she comes. Hide." Luz said as they got into position.
Following the signs Eda had a big grin on her face. "Oh, baby, time to stock up on Mama's night juice."
As she walked by the three of them watched from above a hill.
"According to Wortlop's tome, we start by lowering the beast's defenses with special crystals. And they're supposed to be quite calming." Gwendolyn read.
Pulling a rope multiple sharp crystals rained down towards Eda.
"Whoa!" Yelping Eda spins her staff shattering them all. "Knife season came early this year."
"I don't think we're using these things right." Tiger Lily gulps.
"Don't worry we still have one more." Gwendolyn said.
As a large shadow appears over Eda she narrowly avoids getting crushed by a big one. Lying on the ground Eda's feathers began to show.
"Oh no!" Tiger Lily gasps.
"She's stressed!" Luz gasps grabbing an elixir from her bag.
They were about to run down and help her but Gwendolyn stops them.
"Oh, no, no, no. The texts say those feathers mean we're driving the beast out." Gwendolyn assures.
"Are you sure? I mean no disrespect but when this usually happens things get ugly for us." Tiger Lily asks.
"Don't worry. After today, Eda will never have to drink those nasty little things again." Gwendolyn said.
Looking at each other Luz and Tiger Lily nod.
"What do we do next?" Luz asks.
"Next, we're gonna put that beast on ice." Opening her bag, Gwendolyn releases a large cloud with a face on it.
Back at the Owl House, tons of ice cream cartons were on the floor as Lilith and King were laying on the couch and Minato and Blanca were sitting against it groaning from eating too much ice cream.
"How do you get a parent's attention?" King asks.
"Heck if I know. Mother wasn't even at my Coven Initiation." Lilith said eating another scoop.
"Don't look at me. My parents barely even knew I existed. They never showed up to anything that was important to me. It was all Lionel, Lionel, Lionel." Blanca whines eating more ice cream. "What's so bad about me? I work hard, I train hard, and I'm a decent witch. What about me is so repulsive that they would leave me behind?" She sobs.
As Minato puts a hand on her shoulder Blanca immediately hugs him crying into his chest.
"There there." Minato said rubbing her head.
"At least you all know what your parents look like. All I have is a cave drawing. What if it's just graffiti?" King asks.
"Trust me King you've got it the easiest. Your dad hasn't even had a chance to break your heart. Our parents have all but shattered ours." Blanca sniffles lifting her head up.
"Hey uh guys. That's a lotta ice cream you're eating. You know Eda gets that stuff from the Night Market, right?" Hooty asks.
"Are you my mother? Because that is an awful lot of judgment." Lilith points.
"Uh Minato, you've been quiet back me up here pal? Tell these guys they have nothing to worry about, right?" Hooty asks.
However, as Minato ate the ice cream a bad memory was coming back to him.
Flashback:
It was a rainy day in Gravesfield, as we find ourselves at the Nakamura Dojo just a few weeks after Miguel was declared Missing.
As a police car pulls up we see Momo in her police uniform step out with Minato in the back.
"Why are we at Jichan and Bachan's?" Minato asks but his mother didn't answer him.
Helping him out of the car she walked Minato inside to see her parents inside.
"Thanks for doing this." Momo said.
"It's not trouble at all." Hana said before looking at Minato. "Come give Bachan a hug."
As Minato gives her a hug, she noticed Akira was busy teaching a class.
"Now Minato you're gonna be spending a little more time with your grandparents. They're gonna pick you up after school and bring you here until it's time to go home."
"Wait what?" Minato said not liking this, but before he could even ask her what was going on Momo turned to leave. "Mommy?" Minato said running out into the rain to stop her.
"Promise me you'll be a good boy Minato. Mommy's gonna be a little too busy to take care of you for a while. I hope you can understand." Momo said before getting in her police car and driving off leaving Minato standing alone in the rain.
"Please don't leave me too Mommy," Minato mutters heartbroken.
Flashback End:
Lifting his head up, Minato had a sad and hurt look on his face.
"Listen you dumb Bird Tube I already have one lousy judgmental mother I don't need another." Minato groans. "The only time she even talked to me at this point was just to scold me. Why are you always getting into fights Minato? Why can't be a good boy for once Minato? I didn't raise you to be like this. Well you barely raised me at all!" Minato snaps throwing a scooper at Hooty forcing him to dodge.
"This stinks!" King said standing up. "If my dad doesn't care about me, why should I care about him? Hmm? Well, I'm not going to him. He's gonna have to come to me!"
"Yeah screw parents!" Blanca said throwing the ice cream carton off her. "Next time I see them I'm gonna take that stupid family sword and smash into a million pieces right in front of them!"
"And I am sick of being overlooked. From now on I..." Lilith stutters before standing up. "I have no mother! And I... I'd say that to her face!"
"Yeah!" All three of them cheer in agreement.
"Isn't that taking it a bit too far?" Hooty asks.
"Not far enough. Go on out and tell her. She's right outside." King gestures.
"She is?" Lilith said surprised.
"Yeah we saw her go off into the forest with Luz and Tiger Lily." Minato said.
"Something about healing Eda's curse." Blanca recalls.
"Oh is that so?" Lilith said in realization. "Mother paying attention to Edalyn, again. I mean it's not like I care." Lilith said when feathers started coming out of her.
"Uh Lilith. You got a little." King points.
Looking at it, Lilith gasps.
Running to the couch she pulled back the pillow to grab an elixir but they were gone.
"What the?" She gasps.
Seeing this Minato and Blanca ran to all the other hiding spots but there was nothing.
"Where are all the elixirs?!" They panicked.
Running around Blanca noticed Lilith in Eda's room.
"Lilith?" She said concerned but before Lilith could answer she let out a scream.
Looking in horror, Blanca, Minato, King and Hooty knew they were in trouble.
Back in the forest, we see Eda scaling a cliff completely worn out from all of her mother's attempts at curing her.
"This... better be... the oldest, strongest, stinkiest apple blood ever!" Eda said in between breaths.
Making it to the top she saw a sign that read IT'S REALLY THAT GOOD which caused Eda to groan.
Getting up she kept walking only to step in a ball of sludge.
"Aw man I just stole these shoes." Eda groans before taking another step only to reveal another trap that flung her into the air into some bushes.
"It seems like the curse isn't my daughter's only problem." Gwendolyn noticed.
"Gwen, we tried freezing the curse out, we tried sweating the curse out, we even tried flying snakes for some reason." Luz lists.
"I don't even know why we thought that one was gonna work." Tiger Lily said pinching her nose. "I don't think the cure is working."
"Yeah and did Wortlop ever say where he learned to do this?" Luz asks.
As they looked over they saw her on a crown phone.
"Yes I'm sending it right away." She said.
"What was that?" Tiger Lily asks.
"It turns out the ancient tome is only part 1 of a series. So, I'm trading in a few paltry family heirlooms to get the rest." Gwendolyn said putting some jewels in a sack and handing it to the crow.
"You're still paying for it? Let me see that book." Tiger Lily said holding out her hand.
"Halt. Only people who have scaled Wortlop's "Pyramid of Study" can touch the tome." Gwendolyn said showing her necklace.
"Pyramid?" Luz pauses before realizing something. "Grab it!"
Summoning her whip, Tiger Lily yanks the book out of Gwendolyn's hands.
Opening Luz looks inside and gasps. "What is this? Jar of bees for existential dread? Aromatherapy for broken legs? Bird songs for sufferers of stuffy noses?! Gwen, you're being scammed! Wortlop is a fake."
"You really think I would spend my life savings on a fake?" Gwendolyn scoffs.
"I know you want what's best for Eda, and so do we. But we're calling this off." Luz said.
She was about to get the elixir when Gwendolyn grabs it from her hand.
"Oh girls. I really thought we were on the same side. According to Wortlop, poison like this is made by healers and potion makers who simply want money." Scrolling through the book they saw the page read not to give to healers but rather to him.
"Are you kidding me?!" Luz snaps.
"You know what? Forget you! Come on Luz if we hurry back to the house, we can grab one before Eda transforms!" Tiger Lily said getting up to leave.
"I'm afraid that will be a waste of your time." Gwendolyn said as her palisman dropped a big sack of elixirs right in front of them. "Hawksley cleared out every bottle hours ago."
"Why would you do that?!" Luz said standing up.
"Because I am a mother who will do anything for her daughter." Gwendolyn was about to throw the bottle down when Luz and Tiger Lily tackle her.
"Oof this ain't good." Eda said looking at her body before the three of them fell out of the tree. "What the?"
Following the noise she saw all the elixir bottles were broken and Luz, Tiger Lily and Gwendolyn were on the ground in pain.
"What is going on here?" Eda demands.
"Witchlet. Luz, Tiger Lily and I are working to heal you." Gwendolyn said.
"This was all you? You weren't healing me! You nearly killed me!" Eda said outraged.
"Eda calm down." Luz said.
"We can explain everything." Tiger Lily said.
"Why? Why should I be calm? I have a right to be upset!" Eda snaps before her eyes turned black and she turned into the Owl Beast in front of them.
In Eda's mind we see Eda staring down the giant Owl Beast.
"Here we go again." Eda groans before running away.
Zooming out we see the Owl Beast ready to attack.
"Oh no, not again." Tiger Lily gulps.
"Don't worry. According to this we just have to…" Flipping through her book Gwendolyn gulps.
"What?" Luz asks.
"Buy the next volume." Gwendolyn admits showing them the page.
"Oh come on!" Luz snaps when they heard a scream from nearby.
"Faster Minato! Faster!" King said as he was riding on Minato's shoulder with Blanca right behind him. In Minato's hand he held Lilith's staff.
"Minato? King?" Luz said surprised.
"Luz?" Minato said surprised.
"Blanca?" Tiger Lily said surprised.
"Tiger Lily?" Blanca said.
"What's going on?!" All four said at the same time.
"You first." Luz said.
"Well Lilith was feeling stressed and we couldn't find any elixirs, not to mention the light glyphs weren't working. And…" King starts.
"She turned into that!" Minato points.
Swooping in we see Lilith had turned into a large Raven Beast monster that was even bigger than Owl Eda.
"Sweet Flea?" Gwendolyn said in disbelief.
As Raven Lilith let out a roar Owl Eda roared and rushed towards her.
Swooping in Raven Lilith grabbed Owl Eda in her talons and they took to the sky.
"That was my Sweet Flea? But…that would mean she's." Gwendolyn said.
"She's cursed too lady!" Blanca said.
"Lilith was right! You don't pay attention to her!" Minato said growing Lilith's staff while Luz grew Eda's.
"Hop on." Luz said as Tiger Lily and King joined her while Blanca got on with Minato.
"We have to help them. Are you coming?" Tiger Lily asks looking at Gwendolyn.
"This... This must be part of the process, right?" Gwendolyn hesitates.
"Look lady even if there isn't you're their mother. It's your job to be there for your kids. Both of them!" Minato said as they took off.
Hopping onto her staff, Gwendolyn flew towards Wortlop's cave.
"Wortlop... he's not a fake, is he? After everything I did for him..." Making her way to the entrance she peeks inside to see 4 gremlins around a fire bee fire pit surrounded by snails and jewels and Wortlop was just a disguise being hung on a rock.
"Hey what do wanna call this one?" Gremlin 1 asks.
"Eh, I don't know. Cleansing mud?" Gremlin 2 suggests.
"Yeah, from the Healing Bogs of the Hips or whatever. What do you think?" Gremlin 3 asks looking at Gremlin 4 who was putting on makeup.
"I think." Turning around we see the Boils from earlier were fake. "We're gonna be rich!"
As all of them burst into laughter the fire bees suddenly grew in size causing the gremlins to scream in fear.
Walking in Gwendolyn was glaring daggers at them.
Scrambling 3 Gremlins took the shape of Master Wortlop.
"Mrs. Clawthrone, what a surprise." He said nervously.
"You know, right after Eda was cursed I joined the Beast Keeper Coven. I thought they surely would know what to do. But the beast keepers told me the curse couldn't be tamed. And the healers told me it couldn't be healed. Eda told me she found something that made it manageable at least. But I didn't listen." Gwendolyn frowns.
"I could give you the next volume. 5% off? 10% off?" Wortlop offers.
"Leave." Gwendolyn orders as the fire behind her grew larger in size. "And if I ever see you in Bonesborough again, every beast in the forest will be after your head!"
Screaming in fear the gremlins quickly dug their way out and escaped.
Once they were gone Gwendolyn chuckles putting everything back to normal.
"I still got it." She smiles.
In the city, we see Raven Lilith and Owl Eda flying around the city attacking each other.
And while both creatures were fierce Raven Lilith seemed to have the upper hand.
Flying nearby, Luz, Minato, Tiger Lily and Blanca were cringing at the sight.
"Okay we gotta think fast. What do we do?" Luz asks.
"We need elixirs." Minato said pointing to Morton's store.
"No one's bought anything in a while. I should close up shop." Morton said when the 4 teens dropped in.
"Morton! We need every elixir you got!" Tiger Lily said making him smile widely.
"Also, do you accept payment in hyper-realistic pencil portraits?" Luz asks taking out a really good sketch of him.
Frowning Morton closes the door on them.
"Oh come on Morton! We're your best customers can't you give us a tab?!" Minato calls out.
"Shoot I thought I was improving." Luz said.
"Oh man what do we do? We need money and fast." King asks.
"Uh can we turn Minato in for his bounty again?" Tiger Lily suggests.
"Not enough time." Blanca said.
"Don't worry." Gwendolyn said dropping in. "Mama's got this." She said dropping a big bag of snails in front of them.
As the fight between the two beasts made its way to the rooftops, the group followed Gwendolyn to the roofs across.
"Are you sure this is gonna work?" Luz asks.
"Yeah are you like, secretly sending us to our deaths?" King asks suspiciously.
"No I'm making it right." Taking off the pendant Gwendolyn smashes it under her foot.
Hopping on the staffs the 4 of them flew over the fighting beasts.
Using her magic Gwendolyn made a staircase of rooftiles so she could approach them.
"My beautiful daughters. I've failed you." Gwendolyn said getting their attention.
Snarling Owl Eda approached her first.
"Edalyn? You're in there, aren't you?" Gwendolyn calls out.
In Eda's mind, we see Eda was still running from the Owl Beast.
"I should've listened to you. I know now why you pushed me away." Gwendolyn's voice echoed.
"Mom?" Eda said coming to a stop.
"I made you think your curse was something to be ashamed of. Whether we want it or not, it's a part of you. And I love every part of you." Gwendolyn said.
Hearing this Eda turns to the Owl Beast, as it leaped at her Eda held out her arm and a bright light flashes turning the giant beast into a smaller version of itself barely bigger than King.
"Mom I can hear you!" Eda calls out before looking at the beast. "And you…" Leaping at it, Eda puts the Owl Beast in a headlock. "My turn to drive."
Zooming out we see Gwendolyn put her hand to her daughter's face.
"I'm so sorry." Gwendolyn apologized.
"Mom?" Looking up Gwendolyn saw Eda's eyes were back to normal.
"Witchlet!" Gwendolyn smiles hugging her daughter.
Roaring Raven Lilith was about to attack when Owl Eda grabs her arm and pushes back pinning her to the roof.
"And you Lilith." Gwendolyn said cupping her face. "You were always so self-sufficient. But I didn't give you the attention you deserved."
Hearing this Raven Lilith began to sob.
Slowly Gwendolyn rubbed her head before looking up to the sky. "Now!"
Flying in Tiger Lily and Blanca drop across from her.
As Tiger Lily throws her whip Blanca catches it allowing them to hold the beasts down.
Dropping in King pulls both beasts by their ears causing their mouths to open wide.
"Bottoms up!" Minato yells as he and Luz each shove an elixir down their throats.
After both of them finish a bright cloud envelops the two sisters before giving off a bright flash returning them to normal.
"Dang that is some good elixir." Luz said impressed.
As Gwendolyn runs to her children she helps them up.
"About time Mom." Eda smirks weakly.
"Mom, I heard you but I couldn't stop myself. I-I couldn't do anything." Lilith sobs.
"It's okay. Everything is going to be okay now. I'm here for you both." Gwendolyn said hugging her daughters close.
"She was trying to do her best, huh?" King realized.
"Yeah, guess there are some good parents out there." Blanca admits.
As Minato looked at the two of them being embraced by their mother a sad look appeared on his face.
That night we find ourselves back at the Owl House.
"I'm sorry for all the trouble I caused, but I—I just wanted to help. I should've trusted you more." Gwendolyn admits.
"Yeah you should have. But don't be a stranger around here mom." Eda said playfully punching her shoulder.
Suddenly the door kicks open revealing Lilith with a bindle.
"Mom I'm ready!" She calls out.
"Ready? Ready for what?" Tiger Lily asks.
"Well, we were talking and I've decided to go home with mother to make up for lost time." Lilith declares.
"What?" Luz gasps.
"For real?" Minato said.
"Lily?" Eda said surprised.
"You lived here?" King said confused.
"What?!" Hooty and Blanca said the most surprised.
"Edalyn, Lilith told me how she gave you the curse. I am so, so sorry to you both, to have this secret weighing you down. I wish I knew sooner." Gwendolyn said regretfully.
"There's still a lot to be learned about this curse, but... it'll be nice to spend some time home and reconnect with Dad." Lilith said as Eda looked away hearing that last part.
"We'll be away for a while, but we have plenty of elixirs stocked up." Gwendolyn said pulling some vials out of her hair.
"Someday my hair is gonna be big enough to do that too." Luz said in awe.
"You actually want that?" Minato asks.
"No Lulu you can't go!" Hooty sobs.
"Hootsifer, I have to. But don't worry, we can be penpals." Lilith offers.
"But I can't hold a pen!" Hooty cries harder.
"I'm gonna miss you Lilith." Blanca said.
"I'll miss you too Blanca. I always felt you and I really understood each other." Lilith said putting a hand on her shoulder. "Listen if you ever need someone to talk to come looking for me."
"I'd like that." Blanca smiles as Lilith walked away.
Sniffling a tear ran down Blanca's eyes but Minato put a hand on her shoulder.
"Hey it's okay. She's not abandoning any of us. She's still gonna be around. And you got us after all." Minato said.
"And you." Blanca smiles feeling a little better.
"Luz, Tiger Lily if it weren't for you I might still be wrapped up in Wortlop's lies. So here's what I should've told you from the start." Gwendolyn said looking at Luz first. "You're not the only human to have lived in Bonesborough."
"I'm not?" Luz said surprised.
"There is a rare substance called Titan's Blood. It is extremely powerful and sometimes causes leaks between our realms. Plants, animals... And you guys have a lot of garbage, by the way. But humans are rare. My great-grandmother told me about a human who once lived here. But one day he just vanished. Rumor has it he left something in the library and if you can find out more about him…" Gwendolyn hints.
"Minato and I can get back home!" Luz realized.
"Seriously?" Minato said surprised by this.
"And as for you Tiger Lily, you say you came to life due to your book being affected by the Wailing Star's magic. Now normally the main case would be to wait for the next Wailing Star…but there's something else that works just as well." Gwendolyn hints getting her attention.
"Th-There is?" Tiger Lily said surprised.
"You see I learned quite a bit about Astronomy and the Wailing Star uses a special magic but if we can get our hands on the book you came from and with the right star contesllation, we can make you a spell good enough to get you back." Gwendolyn said.
"Wait so that means…" Tiger Lily pauses.
"We can send you home Lily. Just like you've always wanted." Eda said patting her on the back.
Hearing this Tiger Lily couldn't believe her ears. She was finally going back to Neverland.
"When you're ready come find us and we'll get the spell figured out." Gwendolyn said as she and Lilith left.
"Well we can figure out the details later. I'm going to sleep on the couch for the next 24 hours." Eda said walking inside.
"I call the couch." King said as he, Tiger Lily and Blanca followed her leaving Luz and Minato alone.
"Been one crazy day huh?" Luz asks.
"No kidding." Minato said as they looked up at the stars.
"Just think we'll soon be going home ourselves." Luz said.
"Yeah…home." Minato pauses.
"Camp's probably over by now. Our moms must be worried about us." Luz guessed while Minato narrows his eyes.
"I have to bring dad back. No matter what happens I can't leave the Isles without him." Minato said.
"Don't worry, I promise he's coming too." Luz agrees.
As the two of them made their way inside we find ourselves at Luz's home where Camilla was on the couch crying.
"I'm sorry. These animal documentaries make me such a mess." Camilla said turning off the Tv.
"Here mama." Luz's voice said.
Looking over we see a shadowy figure resembling Luz but we couldn't see its face.
"Thank you, Luz. You always know what to do." Camilla smiles.
Meanwhile, at the Nakamura household we see Momoyo walking through the halls making sure all the lights were off.
As she heard a strange flicker from Minato's room she gasped.
Opening the door she saw a shadowy outline that resembled Minato near a flickering lightbulb.
"Is everything alright mom?" He asks.
"Yeah sorry I just thought I heard something sweetie." She said relieved.
"Just need a new one of these." He gestures.
"Well be sure to go to bed soon." Momo nods.
"I will mom." It said as Momo closed the door. As the light bulb flickered, we see an outline of the figure and we see a brief highlight of fangs in its mouth.
