The Joker sat in his cell and growled along with his stomach.
Two days had passed since the food in Arkham had changed, and no one was happy about it.
But The Joker was the least happy with this change.
He had eaten nothing since the change to their food took effect, but his resolve had weakened and he was now forced to look for a way to have his needs met .
The Joker looked up as he heard two quiet knocks on his cell door.
Then he slowly approached the door as the flap that the guards used to communicate with the patients quickly opened.
"Hey Joker I got the stuff you asked me for." Dean whispered as he shoved a brown paper bag through the slot.
"What the hell is this?" The Joker asked, as he looked at a bag that had a few grease stains on the bottom.
"It's the food you asked for." Dean said quickly as he shifted uncomfortably outside the door.
The Joker took note of this but was too hungry to argue as he snatched the bag and quickly examined the contents.
"What the hell is this?'' The Joker asked as he held the Fish Stick he pulled from the bag between two fingers.
"Sorry Mr.J it's the only thing that I could smuggle in.
"It's the latest fast food meal that everyone loves,
The Penguin said that I would be paid well if I kept this meal coming." Dean the guard said quickly as he shifted uncomfortably outside the door.
"Do I look like The Penguin to you?" The Joker growled, wanting nothing more than to shove the bag back down Dean's throat.
The Joker heard shuffling outside his cell which signaled Dean's departure.
When he was sure that couldn't be heard the Joker let out a mighty scream as he threw the bag against the wall.
The Joker walked over to his poor excuse for a bed, and flopped down on the even poorer excuse for a mattress.
He knew that he shouldn't have trusted the whispered rumors that he could get Dean to buy him some real food.
But then his view on what qualifies as real food, differed greatly from the rest that dared challenge the Bat.
The Penguin was the worst due to his weakness for Fish Sticks, and his absolute refusal to keep his body in good physical shape.
Two Face was not much better with his six meals a day, and his almost non existent work out regimen.
The Joker however always made time for a good workout, and ate healthy.
Forsaking, anything fried, and red meat; unless he would have a Steak after his escape from Arkham.
He had often tried to explain that it took a peak to face the Bat.
But the others ignored him thinking that the right plan, and piece of equipment was what was needed.
Even Harley stuck to her fondness for junk food, but The Joker over looked
that because of her willing to work out and evewn though he would never tell her; he loved to watch her play with the gum in her lollypops.
The Joker punched his matress careful to not have his hand conect with the metal boxspring underneath, then he reminded himself that he shouldn't be thinking about her.
it was now clear to him that people thought that he and Harley had broken up.
but the decsion had been made with out his concent.
He had waited two weeks without any sigin of Harley and at first was very angry that she had not returned to him.
He didn't understand why she wanted things to be differnt they had fun together, they helped each other and he would give er any materal thing she desired just to see her eyes light up with the child like whimsy that he adored, and he kept her well protected.
If anyone breathed one word of disrepect towards her they knew that it would be the last breath they wuld ever breath.
All these things proved that he cared for her, and the only things he asked was that she be around when he needed her, do as she was told and not distract him when he was working.
He vknew that she hated this rule but he jad explained to her that his work always came first.
She would usually read, watch Tv or play a game on her phone until he called for her.
But now she had decided that what they had wan't enough, she should be ashamed for throwing away something so good.
The Joker let out a low growl as another unwanted thought entered his mind.
This was a thing he hated about Arkham even more than the food.
He hated being left with thoughts that led nowhere and in Arkham that was all he had.
He wanted nothing more to pull out a secret cellphone and tell Jhonny that he had devised a way to escape,
But he punched his matreess again as he reasized that he could do neither of these things.
The Joker curled up on his mattress unable to think about the first time he met Jhonny.
A cold rain poured down over Gotham as the Joker exited the office of Carmine Falcony, escorted by his head security gaurd.
"I'm sorry that your meeting didn't go well sir, but you must understand that Mr. Falcony can be a bit stubborn when it comes to accepting new ideas." Jhonny said as he walked the Joker to the door.
"Thiis isn't just some idea and your boss would do well to pay attention to the wind of change that's clearly blowing." The Jkoer said as he walked towards the door.
"What do you mean?"
Why do you want to know?"
"I swore my algence to my boss who treats me well."Jhonny said as he stopped and turned to the Joker.
"You swore your alegence to a man who had everything handed to him by his father, and only respects his own oppion.
You are a man who works like a dog for scraps while your master grows ever fatter, and became far to comfortable far to long ago
He has no vision what so ever but I must admit his taste in suits is adqute."
"You have to me what you know."
"I don't have to do anything, all I wanted was to work with your boss so I could stop someone trying to crush hard working entrupers.
But your boss has forgotten that in bussiness there must be respect and honor, so I will let him pay the price.
But since good help is hard to find I will make you this offer.
When your bosses house of cards falls come and find me, I may not look like or have much now; but I have a vision and I need some one I can trust." The Joker said as placed his calling card in Jhonny's lapel.
The grumbling of his stomach pulled the Joker from the memory, for which he was greatful.
He walked walked over the bag and quickly ate it's contents, which were now cold and mushy.
He sighed and closed his as the hollow ach of hunger left him, but as he opened his eyes again he felt a new empty feeling take him over.
He had thought that the fear and selflothing he felt after being so careless, with the one he cared about most was enough to kill him; but the emptyness he felt at knowing that she didn't want to return to him was enough to tear him in two.
He knew now that he had to find her, and that he had o set things right.
He had to tell her that he was ready to give her what she always wanted, but he couldn't do that here and knew that he escape before the worst happened.
